  • Installing a Red Tiger Dashcam is very easy and requires no special tools unless you install the rear camera. Overall the image quality of this camera well exceeded my expectations. So far it is a very good product.

      its kind of a fun addition.
      Not a big fan of wires all over the place so the hard wire kit is a must in the spring

    Just got one, installed easily on my wife's minivan. I am wondering if the suction cup hold well when the car is parked with the sun in front. Have not installed the rear camera yet. My Tesla already has 4 built in dashcam cameras (front, left, right and rear), very high resolution and large screen. Captured an accident recently where two cars crossed the intersection without stopping first. That's why I get one for the minivan. The screen is quite small, but at least I can capture videos for important events. It's quite easy to stop & save recent recordings and view it right away on the camera screen, whether this is a panoramic drive view OR an accident.

      The auction cup has held for the last 3 months, though it was cold

    Looks like you are installing the cam in the Mazda 3. When I installed a dash cam in my Mazda 3 during the pandemic, I had a hard time with the A pillar panels due to the airbag clip. I think the manual states to cut the clips and replace with new ones. didn’t want to cut them due to part availability.
    Does this cam provide a clear license plate picture for vehicles that are further than 20feet away? Also does the software allow gps info to be removed from the recorded video?

    • @DIYNorth
      @DIYNorth  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes its a mazda 3 with the airbags in the pillars. It would probably be an issue to try to install the wires inside of them.
      The software will let you turn off / on speed, date, and location as a watermark on the recording.
      If you are filming at 4k I'm sure it could read a plate beyond 20 feet, but there are other factors such as the speed of the vehicle, angle from plate to camera, glare from sun or lights, that might make it a problem. So I don't really know what the real world result would be.

      @@DIYNorth I ran the charge cable through the pillar as there is some space below the airbag in the pillar. I attached the rear cam on inside the headliner for better rear view angle for rear end crash.
      I believe we have the same model 2012/2013 Skyactiv.

    What is the difference between the f7 and the f9?
    Is it just one has a screen, and one doesn't? It looks like the f9 has voice command function. I'm not sure, because there aren't any videos on the f9. There is about a $30 difference.
    Any answers would be appreciated.

    • @DIYNorth

      Their website lists the f9 as "super mini" I don't see many other differences.
      It might be similar but smaller.

    how about the back camera? the camera struggles when there is no street light

    • @DIYNorth
      @DIYNorth  7 месяцев назад

      I'm sure it does. It probably struggles even worse with headlights pointing at it.
      Im not sure that a different camera would do better though.

      @@DIYNorth OK thanks for the reply. In my car Skoda, the 12v power socket is always remains on. Is there any in built idle time feature available in the camera which shutdown after some idle time?

      @apvideos6864 I dont think so. I think it relys on the power of the car to turn on and off.

      Hi have you done the video of you installing it with the hardware kit? Also does the hardware kit come with the dash cam or would you need to purchase it seperate?
