Awesome battle! You know what would be really epic, you guys playing the narrative misson betrayal at Ithrace: holding the line, page 64 shadow and iron. 9 warlords against an enemy force that respawns ;)
@@Jefferinio That's good to know, was getting a bit repetative being stomped by them :p Shame you can't make the saloon tomorrow (very low number count at the moment, had one drop due to being pinged too)
1:10:00 The (lousy) wording on Traitor's Descent sounds to me like the intent is that you can take the shots (which I'd guess are supposed to be from just-landed Traitor titans or their landing barges rather than actual wall defenses around the spaceport) any time you'd be eligible to activate a banner, either movement or combat phase, but doing so replaces that banner's move or attacks as appropriate. Fluff-wise it could represent the knights calling in supporting fire as forward observers rather than acting themselves. Mechanically, I think it's supposed to give the knights a way for the tattered remains of their forces to still offer a real threat late in the game, so single survivors or shaken banners can trade their activations for two heavy shots. That would also encourage trying to hide a beat-up banner's survivors for turn 4+ use rather than throwing them into the grinder. This was a super-close game, but imagine how much faster the Knights would have been dying if the titans had gotten some orders off in turns 2 and 3. The knights were still down to a bunch of single-model banners despite the Titanic command ineptitude, in a more normal situation they'd have been even worse off. Descent of Traitors is probably a balancer for what their casualties will normally look like, so it's probably meant to be pretty strong.
Yeah thats the way I think Jeff was leaning but it seemed just too powerful at that point, the game was in a really good spot and anyone could win so it seemed decent if you like just to fire it once in the combat phase.. I would have been happy not to use it at all the game was so good as it was. You're right about the orders! Couldnt believe my luck but again it made for a closer game. I loved Jeff's attempt at three unit kills in one go, I was hoping he'd pull it off as a saga to tell through the ages!
29:17 The round building in the lower right corner - is that dressed-up tuna can? It looks good, don't get me wrong - but it also looks like it started life as a tuna can. I have a sudden craving for a sandwich... :) Whole table's really nice. Really need to get some of that 28mm AdMech terrain, those seem to scale jump really well. They work with 15mm Stargrunt figs too.

@@Tabletop_Standard So I just finished watching this. Great batrep. It is refreshing to have a game be so close for so long. Could have gone either way until turn 5. A real nailbiter. House Ioeden payed dearly for their treachery. Well played the both of you.
Great report as usual. Personally I love playing the overload rule but it’s disproportionately strong for warhounds who realistically have a very low chance of reigniting voids on 2 clades.
Just started getting into the game and went for doing an entire Knight House but watching those four 1s made me gringe....love seeing the domino effect. Great game!
Traitor's Descent is really badly written, but in my view, it would be played in the same way as Titan Hunter Infantry. Both use the wording "Instead of activating a unit." Where there's it's widely read to mean that you can use them in addition to your regular units, in effect giving you two extra activations. The way I see it is that when it's your turn to activate, you have to decide which unit to activate, as that moment, 'instead of activating' one of your knights, you activate the Landing Craft weapons. But that doesn't extinguish the activation you didn't take with one of your knight units, so that activation you can use later. It's very good if used in that way but in this game you probably need it by that stage, because you were 500 points down, probably on your knees and your opponent probably hasn't stumbled into the Luck Vortex that Jeff fell into this game. (I heavily sympathise with Jeff here, my last game of AT was similar in that I couldn't pass a command check to save my life, it was like playing with an arm tied behind my back!)
Call me conflicted...i dont like seeing noble God engines fall to puny knights.... But on the other hand the Knights are fighting FOR THE WARMASTER, therefore they are the good guys (I play Mortis :) )...so confused.! Great game and reat paint jobs all round. Its been soooo long since i played a game. It was a lifetime ago in a different world. I miss it lots, but this channel keeps the DT's away!
Ha ha the losing streak has come to an end. Although saying that Narrative games are often designed with a tilt favouring one side. Although not sure who in this one?
Yes mate he certainly could have but took it out with the lasers. I see what you're saying he could have put the lasers on another target and hoped he'd kill it with the smash. Tough call to make only D3 attacks at WS5+ risky... Saying that looks like Jeff used is BS at that range but he still hit once with a 5 and only needed a 2+ to kill.. The whole attempt at killing 3 was a tall order
@@Tabletop_Standard You´re right about it being safer that way, and I hadn´t noticed he should have used WS, either... So many things to remember! I´ll start playing my first games next month, we´ll probably forget loads of rules at first, but I bet it´ll be fun anyway.

😅 it's my come back month. Don't worry I'm sure things will return to its natural state very soon.. To be fair the narrative games tend to favour a side. But in this game I'm not quite sure whom?
Cool game love knights vs Titans but the knights should have a similar or higher point amount just due to the fact that they get like no saves against warlord class weapons and defender should be at a disadvantage when being ambushed not advantage
I feel it's somewhat well balanced because the ambusher gets to place the ambushed's titans wherever they like. If they're being really cruel, that's half of the titans placed basically on the opposite end of the table, surrounded by knights essentially unable to do anything. Though I do agree the ambushed should have a bit more disadvantage as well. Maybe something like being unable to shoot at the ambusher until they're shot at by them?
@@Tabletop_Standard yea it really is. I went to a tournament the other day but there was a lot of cheaters there. Took the fun out of it. Casual narrative games is where it is at.
@@Tabletop_Standard In the US I trace it to the mid-to-late 90s and the tournament scene of the time, particularly the GTs that ran in the Baltimore civic center. The flipside is that if a Titan bothers to turn and shoot at a unit of Knights, those Knights are probably toast.
