I love what you did with the fortifications up the middle, that was a really nice idea, having buildings in linked sections. Bad luck on the Baneblades though!
Lovely game, keep them coming please. The game system is rough in places, but the tables are spectacular and there's carnage and that's most important! +1 that smaller battles play better. After a certain size it just becomes more of the same.
I agree. I've been looking at Armageddon armies we've used in some of our older reps and armies in my old space marine battles book. 3k seems a bit much for a casual game
Awesome batrep! I've found that 2000p for infantry/tanks/flyers and then however many points you want to agree on titans is the sweet spot for me. If you spend much more on regular troops it just bogs the game down a bit too much... and when each player only has 1 titan, it kinda tends to be the player who takes the others titan out first who wins. More titan points makes a more interesting game imo. I've done 4000p with 2000p titans a few times now and that feels pretty good to me.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Yeah I think 1500 to 2k is a sweet spot for a casual game. Still a lot more play testing to be done! I'm hoping to do bigger games when we get in the studio and get an 8x4 table
God-Engine does God-Engine things. Great report guys, it would be interesting to see the TraitorMil bring a pair of Reavers or more Air Support to counter the Warlord and Astarte Numbers. But i agree that LI normally rewards aggression in players. But i think the Astarte had the advantage in mobility and CAF that the TraitorMil would gave always struggled with anyway. Now we're getting Artillery it gives Aux based armies another tool to counter astarte mobility
I've replaced to fighters with Bombers and made the lonely fighter equipped for air to air combat. I've dropped the hound and knight and added a Warmaster, fuck it!
@Tabletop_Standard not really. God engines are acting like God engines should. Warhounds are good, reavers are pretty dominant, warlords live upto the name and warmasters are tge stuff of nightmares. But all can't win a game without support. In the game vs the warmaster i won on objectives and wiped out his other units. All of which im happy about. I'd make knights the same wounds as Baneblades and kratos, so all have three.
I only model Games Workshop products, and have been building a large Legions Imperialis collection, after watching you guys I will be studying the rules.
Love the battle report. Quick, clear and entertaining. I love the look of the baneblades I have 4. Unfortunately I will not field them. I find that there weapons are too varied to get the most of them. Wildly different ranges and preferred targets for the 6 (?) different weapon types in means they can never really fire effectively. The two wounds for a hundred point tank? I found that mine died about as fast as yours. If it was 3 wounds I would take em. Baneblades look cool but you’re better off getting more Russ’s. The Great Slaughter has rules for a very interesting variant whose name I can’t recall. 105 pts for 4 lascannons, 2 battle cannons and two shred main gun shots? Still only two wounds but it’s weapon load out is a lot more focused and has more shots
Aye, I know what you mean. They're a little underwhelming. 3 wounds seems more appropriate I agree.. The Stormhammer I think is in TGS and I'll invest one day for sure
Thank you for doing the 3k report, good to get a sense of what the “optimum” game should look like. Given that you have now played 6-7 games, and you’ve had a chance to reflect on this game, what are your thoughts on the game system? I’m still struggling to get really excited for the game, but looking forward to seeing it played in the flesh at an event in the next 3 weeks. Just feels like a lot of models get removed before they’ve had even a chance of shooting. This could be down to good tactics on Steve’s part, or it could just mean that the overall mechanic just causes this. It’s possible you guys had a lot of fun playing however which offsets the fact that it was a very one sided game? Would love to get your thoughts. Many thanks
It's still too early to call especially at 3k. But yeah it does feel like they have created a game with so many units that things are designed to die easily. You didnt need armies this big to have great games of Armageddon. My gut at this point is 1500 to 2k is a good place. My biggest concern is the missions which involve just throwing as much stuff where the objectives are and using the rest of the battlefeild is pointless. time will tell.
hi guys, love the reports. I just have a question from one of the previous battle reports. Where did you get the models and rules for some of the legion super heavy tanks or were they just for epic?
GG - I'm firmly in the 'Baneblades need 3 wounds' camp. I have 4 of them, but I'm not at all convinced they are worth running. P.S. did you miss the +1 CAF Solar Aux infantry getting for being in base contact in the fortification fights?
3 wounds seems to be the opinion. If it was building to building fighting we played no bonus. If it was an attack from outside in we may have forgot. I'm often very tired making these
@@Tabletop_Standardthat's my only problem with the game. It's too "killy". I think some rules need some tweaking *cough cough* ignores cover and garrisoned buildings *cough cough*
Completely agree with requiring more LoS blocking terrain. Legions can quickly become a one sided blood bath with too many open lanes. Definitely a game better suited to city fighting. That being said, the table and models looked great, really enjoyed the watch.
Eh. I would arque it works better as non-cityfight. You said firelanes. Well roads essential part of cityfight(no city is without roads). It's hard to avoid firelanes over roads. Nature? Big roadformations block los. Forest blocks los if you play by the book. And in nature you don't need to do straight roads :) Slap multiple forests across board and you have good los blocking. Even warlord titan can hide behind forest unlike most intact buildings. Rural is godbless for screwing long open firelanes. There's reason turn 1 casualties tend to be low in my games :)
Marines are cheap! 😅 Auxilia tanks are pricey but not really any better than a predator. Extra wound here or save there but still go pop under heavy fire
I believe you are assigning combats incorrectly, for example at @40:00, fights are paired and assigned at the start of combat, you mention multiple times that the last guy will have to fight twice, then he dies in the first fight he does, the last Sol Aux Ogryn now does not fight because what he was 2 vs 1 is dead, you do not just find him a new opponent to fight even though in a building everything is considered engaged.
Nice table and armies , some rules i think you did wrong, you remember that flyers can only use one save? Armor save OR jink not both. I see a mixed formation of land raider and Rhino which transport some tactical and the commander i think you cannot merge the transport because they are two different detachment but don t have the same rule of the marine Commander, so i don t think you can purchase for them both land raider and Rhino i think you can buy one transport detachment and put all the infantry inside, so all Rhino or all land Raider. But Maybe i forgot something that allow it . Another question, how did you use the Area terrain like the woods? You remember they completely block Los? Give -1 to hit and give 5+ cover to stuff inside?
@warkatwargaming2358 A typical filming day for us is 10am till 3/4pm. This fitted that time slot but only because the game stopped at turn 3! Thank you. I'll have to overview a lot more should we ever get a game go 5 rounds! 3k is huge, I've been looking at army sizes from armageddon and my old space marines battles book and Legions is way bigger.
