Can you detail what you mean by “imitation” forehand? I’m currently working on my touch forehand game and I’ve been working with a lot more understable discs lately and falling in love with the lines I’ve been able to carve but I can’t say that I’d call any of them an imitation.
@@hookinupwithdoug4824 The paradox basically flies like a forehand for me. I throw it on a hyzer and it flips all the way over and starts heading right (RHBH throw). It doesn't even try to fight back to finish left so it is pretty similar result to a stable FH shot for me.
My favourite way to throw the paradox is extreme hyzer forehand that flips up and then travels right. It's actually insane for scramble shots on the right side of the fairway. No other disc that i've tried does this.
Another person with a garbage forehand here, and this is in my bag for utility. Sometimes you need a Deflector for odd shots, and sometimes you need a Paradox!
BAG BAG BAG !!! Buttery turnovers all day w/o burning like the Pearl. Also when theres a tailwind and your slightly understable discs wont turn, the Paradox still does - Paradox got your back!
Really enjoying your videos! I throw only MVP and I bag a paradox. Some of your shots your calling hizer are releasing flat. I get the best results with this disc when it's thrown bh at about 4oclock line. It will flip up flat and fly dead straight.
As somebody who can't throw FH because of shoulder issues, discs like this, the Mirage, the Sol/Meteor, etc are a staple in my bag. I'll give this one a shot too most likely. Thanks!
LOVE your editing at 3:05. I think one of the hardest things for developing disc golfers is picking an aiming point and letting the disc do the work, rather than throwing straight at the basket.
@@MrGriffsAdventures: That's good to hear. I think if the game is going to ever get to the next level (whether that's good or even desirable is another topic), its image could use some help from within.
One of my favorite discs as a beginner, didn't even know what flight numbers were or how they affected the shot but it flew straight and predictable when nothing else would. Have three still while they were on sale.
I have one. It is a good get out of trouble woods scramble disc. Where you have to throw hyzer but need the disc to go straight after you get out of the woods. As far as a turnover disc, I just couldn't get over the fact I'm throwing a steep hyzer to throw a turnover. I'd end up releasing flat and then it's gone. I've learned I like a disc that has a smidge of helping turn for those anny shots. I go between a Mind Bender and a beat Emac Truth, sometimes a Tursas if there is a tailwind.
I got this disc in a watermelon dye at a mvp circuit challenge. I never bagged it until yesterday and had the worst day with it. This video helped understand its place.
And now, thanks to a Bodanza mystery box, it's mine! It's going to take a minute to get used to, but it does things none of my other discs do, so it's probably getting a bag spot. I've thrown some shots that have surprised myself, because it doesn't burn, and my backhand has a lot more power than my forehand.
As someone that doesn't have a forehand I love my Paradox for shots that should be a forehand. It is going to turn, but not burn. It is touchy, but so useful.
I agree uplink is more versatile and will see more use on the course. If you don't have ceiling restriction, it is fun to throw some really high shots with the paradox because all that turn will get it nose-down so it doesn't stall out. Simon lines without Simon power.
I just got a champ wombat3 from Innova 5/6/-1/0 I believe and it has a very similar flight. Hyzer flip to right finish. I might just be throwing it too hard but yeah. What's nice tho is you tend to not get that huge right skip like you would if you threw it forehand which I like. Kinda sits where it lands vs skipping 20 ft away from the basket.
I love the wombat for savior shots out of the sh** where you end up standing patent pending and forcing a big Annie ride. But I fell in love with the soft zone personally for forehand shots where I want a straight line followed by a slight fade to the right and next to zero ground play.
Hey Anthony, love your videos and hope to get to play with you one of these days here in Austin. Question: I've seen you talk about rolling the wrist over in a couple videos, and this is a problem I have. What mental cue do you use to make sure you don't do that? Or what's your best advice for maintaining a flat follow through without rolling over? Thanks and keep up the great work!
I personally love this disc I started disc golf about 6 months ago and the hardest thing for me to do at this point is get those good anhyzer shots. With this disc I never need to worry about it.
Try to hyzerflip it, throw it on baby hyzer or flat and you’ll get a ton more distance and the paradox will finish right. Throwing it on anni just turns it into a roller.
I’m 905 rated, LHBH primarily. I love the paradox, my forehand off the tee sucks so it is perfect for me. And when I scramble I primarily use a forehand and this thing is so buttery for that.
I bag a paradox and it is money for two different shots: a high and slow forceover upshot and believe it or not, putting. with the shallow underside and smooth plastic, it's like the perfect feel for sliding out of your hand exactly where you're intending it to go and the understability keeps it on a straighter line to the basket during a putt so I don't have to aim high right until about 35 feet
I need to put in more field work with mine, as I am almost always surprised how much hyzer the thing takes to flip up but not over 😮 But I’m starting to get a handle on how to throw it dead straight with a forehand hyzer flip, which is HANDY! I also use it for soft RHFH annies that you need to go left and finish left around some junk … often more trusty than a RHBH with an overstable mid, especially if you need to try to reach way around said junk. I think it’s a super useful disc for a variety of weird situations!
I like it for those restricted shots where you have limited arm swing, or for patent pending throws. I am really loving the uplink for easy hyzer flips, they have a little fight in them and are much easier to control.
I find myself using it for that as well, and forehands where you have to lean out right but somehow make it back way left. I don't know how you could throw a shot like that without a disc like this. Unless you throw a roller...
Half of my bag is Axiom/Neutron now. Insanity, Virus, Envy, Vanish and now the Paradox. Something about the plastic and the mold that makes it so easy to throw. Insanity might be the most beginner friendly fairway driver ever made tbh.
I have been told the paradox in a heavier weight helps with the disc having to much flip and turn over. I just got 2 in mid 160 and one at 174. My buddy has three one at 175.
Love the Paradox, though I have one of the Watermelon's which is the only Proton run. They aren't as crazy flippy as the neutron. Wish they would do those as a stock run.
I have one, but I don't bag it because it is so flippy. I do take it out for one disc rounds sometimes to help me work on shot shaping sometimes. I also keep it in my car to let new players use it, so they have something that flies straight for them
Cant deny the results, it doesnt fit Anthonys throwing style cause his game has more power, but the disc still has incredible merit. I bag one as a utility disc, it has a enormous amount of glide, when youre in a patent pending with little to no room to swing your arm it performs so well perfect for those shots that are basically just arm and wrist snap. I also use the hex but the paradox makes a anny so easy.
The paradox is great but i either I have to slow down my throw or point the rim down and throw Xtreme hyzer. The uplink is another good understable mid-range.
For discs like this also check out the Kastaplast Svea in a firmer plastic, tons of glide and way more understable than the numbers indicate if you get some speed behind it. A little less touchy to find a good hyzer flip angle for me than the Paradox or even the Uplink.

One thing i don't like to blame disc super flippy when throwing "lot of hyzer" when you can use slowmotion and stop frames to see your disc is totally flat or even slight anhyzer.. I mean that understability doesn't come up to play at first 1ft after release from hand. 2nd tee you threw 3 different shots with 3 different result *facepalm*

Try out an Uplink from MVP. Still flippy, but more controllable. I think it'd be perfect for what you're looking for.
I second the uplink video. Love that disc.
I just bought mine last week. Loving that disc. Throw on heizer, flips to right, then fades right next to the basket
Uplink is slightly more controllable than the paradox, but the paradox can be a great get out of jail disc..
