    Best companion conversation in the game

      You can actually reference that conversation in the epilogue too. That was one of the more well done companions and certainly one of the more well written conversations. Just wish there was more of it's like.

      I'm glad that they made up for Grunt being so two dimensional, however I was definitely disappointed with EA's new habit of rushing games like they have for the last few years

      Yeah this scene is pretty much the only one that actually "works" for me.It tells a lot about the character and relates to the protagonist as well. Shame Ryder is such a brick who never seems to be phased by anything.

      I was fine with how they did Grunt. He was the equivalent of a teenage boy, with all the shenanigans and teenage angst that goes with it, so I didn't expect too much depth out of him.

      drack is the best grizzled-veteran character too. my other favorites would be zaeed, anderson, and the efvra. we need more rough and tough old dudes. i hope ryder ends up being a rough and tough old dude.
      like 40 years later, the kett return en mass. meanwhile my son with cora, draks great grandson, and dr. kennedys kid have their own squad. ryders old and has a beard, a few obvious cybernetics of his own (you know in addition to sam). he calls them all kid, and saves them twice. they eventually end up saving him once in a dire situation, ryder replies "dont get cocky kids, you still owe me one"

    I kinda want to know what Krogan culture actually was like before they became nihilistic mercenaries.

    • @SwobyJ
      @SwobyJ 7 лет назад +14

      Imperialist but less depressed (post-Rachni Wars, time of Rebellions). And before that, scummy and post-apocalyptic (post-Fall of Tuchanka). And before that, violent but prosperous (pre-Fall of Tuchanka). The idea of the Krogan is that they're not exactly terrible, but their circumstances encouraged everything terrible about them, and choices they individually made, and with that experience or history, we may or may not be arsed to do anything for them. They were first more violent than most races, then nuked themselves to hell, then fought themselves even more, then gained some respect for defeating the rachni, then squandered that respect by bullying the galaxy to the point of potentially exterminating them, then got biologically and militarily punched back, then essentially sulked for centuries, until in one way or another (which these MEA people are not aware of), shining again in their assistance against the Reapers. Not the best resume, and always reason to disregard or even detest them, but also always enough reason to have hope for them, hope that is continued in some of the storytelling of MEA. (But also some concerning elements.. even if not as bad as previous problems.) At the very least, it seems the writers are communicating that we're done the focus of the Krogan being 'nihilistic mercenaries' (even if those will still exist). They've been more than that before (on both Tuchanka and the Milky Way), and they'll be more than that as we continue. Will what they become be GOOD? Well I think Bioware has a 'pro-Krogan-hope' bias, but I personally hope that there is enough roleplay and creative storytelling allowed to keep this bias from sticking, and instead we get a story with them as a high (but distinct from before; perhaps more depth than anything previous) threat again. I mean, I even hope seeing them return as important enemy units (they barely counted in ME2 with the Blood Pack) in SP and more importantly MP, is a sign of the future.

      Krogan are a product of a world where pretty much everything tried to kill everything else. The issue was their culture never had a chance to develop controls on things like preservation of their environment and population control. In truth the uplifting of the Krogan was, for the Krogan, the biggest mistake. Without cultural checks it made the Krogan Rebellions inevitable. Krogan were used to a world that fought back so 'soft' worlds they settled ended up buckling under ecological damage, pollution and serious overpopulation. Drack makes a point of this in MEA where he points to Vorn and Kesh as the future the Krogan need, because they are smart and open to change.

    • @XxBlackWarri0rxX
      @XxBlackWarri0rxX 7 лет назад

      The problem is, yet again they chose a world that is almost inhospitable, with terrible conditions: Lack of resources (food, water, shelter), dangerous elements (Aggresive fauna, brutal weather), etc.
      So in the end, they will end up depending on their most basic instincts, unless they find a way to throw away their stubbornness and be more technological-minded, like vorn and kresh, not like Okeer or any other krogan scientist who likes to use technology only to make weapons.

    • @brynphillips9957
      @brynphillips9957 7 лет назад +7

      Well, Eledeen isn't as hostile as Tuchunka and frankly with the Vault on line it will only become less so. Infact a number of the Krogan in the Colony complain about the lack of hazards feeling it will make the younger generation soft.
      More to the point, there are indications of a shift in thought. The Krogan are even trying a change in family structures where fathers are involved in the raising of their young and the genders don't segregate to separate camps.
      The issue isn't just instincts but cultural conditioning. The Krogan evolved on a world that had to be beaten down to survive but when they grew too strong they beat down their own world too much. That was a hard lesson and one they never truly had a chance to develop an cultural understanding off. Sometimes if you beat too hard you kill the thing you are dependent on to survive.
      The big things the Krogan seem to need is the presence of a mindset to be open to change and an investment in something bigger.

    You know, I feel like this conversation honestly probably would have fit a lot earlier in the game than it being likely to trigger. The stuff about parents being the starting line, not the finish line? That feels like something for Ryder early on dealing with their father's shadow.
    Too bad, really, but it is an awesome and great scene regardless. It's the kind of emotional scene that while we got close to, we never really reached with Wrex or Grunt. We had emotional scenes with them, but it was a different kind. This is a lot more personal, and dare I say intimate?

    Drack is absolutely right. Life shouldn't focus only on making and raising kids. It's just so... primitive. It's a big journey, mix of different adventures and memories, experience and stories to tell and learn from it, and then teach others from it. What valid and precious you could give to a child, if the only thing you've done is raising it, without any background?

Now female krogan lay about 1000 eggs per clutch. That's about 40 eggs that are going to hatch. If anything, Krogan are looking good and why I try to be on their good side. Besides saving Raeka. +shadowstarthe1st, the maximum lifespan for a krogan is longer than asari, asari live a thousand years, krogan can live to be over 1500 years if something doesn't kill them

    This game was disappointing, but when it does well it does it so damn well. I wish that whatever happened to this game during its development cycle didn't happen, it doesn't deserve to be the third rate game that it is

    • @seanderoo37
      @seanderoo37 7 лет назад +7

      The game was nowhere as disappointing as your thinking. Seriously, the game is a hell of a lot better than the bullshit media keeps saying. Suddenly because of bugs, glitches & poor facial animations, that means it's bad? WTF?

    • @ethanlennon7721
      @ethanlennon7721 7 лет назад +2

      I meant writing in general, for the bulk of disappointment. Throughout the game a lot of characters don't seem to take things seriously enough. In terms of game play there's a lot of underwhelming side content and lack of polish in a lot of the open worlds

    • @PatchyE
      @PatchyE 7 лет назад +5

      It's true this game has a lot of filler content. But they are optional. And if you ignore them completely, there are still enough good content left, no less than any of the previous games. They are just diluted in the attempt to drag the game longer.

    I find it funny how the human squadmates are the most annoying characters in the game, liam is by far the most annoying character in the franchise. Drack and Peebee are my personal favorites

    • @jvinton7002

      you actually can kinda romance drack, but it's more of a joke than anything

    • @PatchyE
      @PatchyE 7 лет назад +14

      I actually find Cora pretty well developed. She was feared and alienated for being a strong human biotic and finds more sense of belonging in asari society. Her admiration for her asari commando idol shackled her, making her only comfortable when following a mentor's teaching. But the Pathfinder showed her how to find her own path, when there is no existing way that others have already walked. Cora was not happy at first that the much less experienced Scott/Sara was chosen as the Pathfinder over her, but later admits that it's the right choice because they can walk their own path while she can only follow others.
      As for Liam... Well let's forget he exists.

    • @xaviervega468
      @xaviervega468 7 лет назад +8

      Drack and Vetra for me. PeeBee is almost as annoying as Liam at times. Cora is my favorite romance.

    • @DLRX
      @DLRX 7 лет назад +8

      I love most of the new crew and think they came out very well considering they came after a trilogy of fleshed out characters. Cora is my personal favorite romance (basically Scott's future wife the way I play), Drack is the "old man" that everyone loves, Vetra is the cool "big sister", Peebee is the "energetic little sister", Jaal is the good hearted best friend, Suvi is the sweetheart, Kallo is quirky nerd, Gil is the smartass, and Liam...honestly I'm on the fence about him as a character a lot of the time but don't hate him.

    • @jvinton7002
      @jvinton7002 7 лет назад +6

      Jaal and Drack were my favorite, Drack is that old uncle everyone has who is slightly a gun nut and would be willing to teach you all of his old military training, Jaal is just genuine, I love the Angaran way of expression.
