  • Hey people! This video is for anyone trying to remove, replace or install the oil pan on a 2006 - 2010 Dodge Charger RT. We have the 5.7l 345 V8 in ours. We realized the oil pan had cracked after getting the engine in finally and ordered a replacement. This involved extra steps that are not typical so I'm uploading this video for anyone who might need it. This is sort of part of the Hemi build series which I have a playlist following the journey!

Great video, guys. Are there any other factors to consider? Do you just jack up the engine without disconnecting anything else?

Thank you, you have to loosen the motor mount bolts and drop the steering rack out of the way but that should do it.

@@bakerRebuilds Thanks for the response, I saw that you dropped the rack and unbolted the engine mounts. I wanted to know before I gave it a shot, if there were any other factors to consider when doing this. Thanks again! I will go for it, soon.)))

When you removed the motor mount bolts, was their nuts attached or are they caged up top?

    • @bakerRebuilds

The motor mount bolts thread into the block itself.

hi man what about the dip stick tubing do you know where the bolts that hold the tube? because obviously that needs to be removed while bringing down the pan, it wasnt mentioned in the video

    • @bakerRebuilds

The dipstick just has an o-ring and is inserted into the pan. It has 2 bolts that's hold it onto the side of the engine block so you don't necessarily have to remove it.

Did you drop the steering rack and raise the power train so that you can clear the subframe?

@@bakerRebuilds yes, which your vid was really helpful, the oil pan just really doesn’t want drop lol. Couldn’t get my flathead to pry it properly

@danielawshome9988 Thank you, I appreciate that. We had to turn it and manipulate it to get it out, it was tight but no prying was needed. Just double checking, you loosened the four motor mount nuts correct?

Man how high do you jack the trans and motor I did everything you did. I’m bout ready to loose my fucking mind it won’t come out

I believe I had the crossmember in the engine bay loose as well for more clearance. Not sure if that was noted in this video. Once you remove the plastic cowl by the windshield wipers it's just 4 bolts to loosen. Also play with every angle possible to get the pan out. It is a beyond tricky fit.
