In this, there is surely evidence (of the truth) for the people who carefully think.” (30:21).
I'm not a Muslim, but that is a deep statement that explains so much of the confusion and unhappiness we see. To be blunt, people have needs...physical, social, emotional, sexual, etc. If everyone were married, that could address that. People are flawed, for some it wouldn't work, but that statement is a viable solution that addresses most. Thank you for bringing more of who God is into my life.

I met a Muslim man and we hit it off really well. Too well. On that first day, He touched me in that way, he kissed me, he held my hand, and he placed my hand on his you know. It took me by surprise so much. I thought he was Muslim. What in the world? It confused me so much. Turns out he was too judgmental of others using substances when he himself was using 3 on a daily basis! And wouldn’t admit his mistakes. Not cool at all.
not all muslims are practicing Islam correctly. some even don't practice it altogether and become muslim in disguise. practicing Muslims are also just human beings, not angels. you can't expect them to be perfect or having same attitudes/characters. dont judge Islam by Muslims. judge them as a person. you may not like something of him but you like some other things of him.

It depends on the parents. You can date if the parents aren’t super strict. I dated a Muslim girl and her mom loved me and her dad hated me. I learned a little Arabic to talk to her parents. It was almost a win but her dad said no way. And there was no way I was converting.
I don't know if you actually mentioned this but there is Dating is completely forbbiden in Islam. It's mainly because Allah (SWT) (God) doesn't want us to be heartbroken or sad but also to refrain from other forbbiden acts. Although dating is forbidden there are still a few Muslims that date which is unfortunate. I have to admit, I have thought about what would happen if I ever got a boyfriend but hopefully I don't. I met a very nice muslin woman today, at sunset, on the beach in LA, CA. A very nice lady. We spoke for a long while and I was not interested in picking up on her, and assumed she was married, as all men and women should respect this. Besides, I am much older than she. As I departed, I did what was natural to me, which is a hug/ hand shake.. . . some kind of contact. It was a no-go.. . . It's ok, I respect it. As I walked away, I thought to myself: "How can these people, Living in the USA, ever learn our culture, if they cannot have simple contact? " (Are we different? Are we awful?) Living in the USA is about becoming USA citizens, and becoming part of the USA family! I felt I did relate to this woman, and I truly liked her! Not as a "pick-Up" but as a very nice young lady, and possibly a friend. After all, I am too old. Am I wrong in saying: They (muslims) close themselves off to us? I certainly felt this! So, why leave the country they came from, if they don't like the American way of life? I will continue to make friends with Muslims, at all opportunities. I respectfully ask that Muslims accept the American way of life, which my father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather, all the way back to the war of 1812 who helped to build this great country, of freedom, and brothers. Some of My family came here as indentured servitude in the French slave era. We are all the same. And I thank the wonderful country of Canada, New Zealand, And Australia, Our best friends.

This term has a very negative and even sexual connotation in North America. ‘They are dating’ often means ‘’they have a sexual relationship’. I would rather call it ‘meeting your potential spouse in Islam before getting married’. The culture where we live, is very different from ours. I was told by North Americans on many occasions that I am ‘not normal’ because I ‘don’t have boyfriends’. (!!!!) They say ‘it is good for your health (!!!!👎). To me it sounds very immoral. Of course I will NOT change. I love and fear Allah. Alhamdillah. I follow our prophet Peace Be Upon Him. I will NEVER betray our moral principles. So…. I am not sure about this term ‘dating’. Actually it's not true that when a person falls in love with someone they have to consider them as their spouse....you can love anyone because you fall in love unexpectedly... Technically there is dating in Islam but it's another word. It's called ENGAGEMENT. That's the stage before marriage when the couple could get to know each other a lot more on another level, with the approval of their guardians, so that they may decide on whether they are right for each other or not. Traditionally the Fatiha is read for blessings and to show the intent for marriage...and the man usually visits the woman at her family's place or with a chaperone outside to get to know her some more. This is perfectly acceptable and encouraged in Islam.
The hadith you quoted. " A woman may be married for four things her wealth......" Can you elaborate on it. From my understanding, men do not have a right over the wives property, she may give on her own volition. But this hadith makes it sound like men can have access to wives wealth without her consent. Is it so?
That means that the woman should be kinda equal in status to the man she is marrying. It is not compulsory but recommended and it is so to avoid problems like if a rich lady marries a very poor man, they are going to have differences in their lifestyles and it might be difficult for them to get along.

Dating in Islam is haram. Only engage in 'mutah' if you want to date. The example has already been set in the Quran why change it? Some Sunni's look down on Mutah but it is in the Qur'an. Also looking into the Hadith's it's allowed. Even a 1 night stand is fine as long as it's agreed as 'mutah'. The emphasis here is on the word "temporarily" since dating doesn't always lead to marriage "Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)'s said, "If a man and a woman agree (to marry temporarily), their marriage should last for three nights, and if they like to continue, they can do so; and if they want to separate, they can do so."" Sahih al-Bukhari 5119 Book 67, Hadith 55

The Prophet said, “O people, I allowed you to engage in Nikah al-Mut’ah, but now Allah has forbidden Mut’ah until the Day of Judgment; so whoever has any wives in a Mut’ah marriage, he should let her go, and do not take anything of the (money) you have given them.” (Sahih Muslim, Hadith-1406) In another hadith, Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) is reported to have said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade Mut’ah marriage and the meat of domestic donkeys at the time of Khaybar. As per another narration, the Prophet forbade the mut’ah marriage in Khaibar and he forbade the meat of tame donkeys. (Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith-3979, Sahih Muslim, Hadith-1407)

It took me by surprise so much. I thought he was Muslim. What in the world? It confused me so much. Turns out he was too judgmental of others using substances when he himself was using 3 on a daily basis! And wouldn’t admit his mistakes. Not cool at all.
not all muslims are practicing Islam correctly. some even don't practice it altogether and become muslim in disguise. practicing Muslims are also just human beings, not angels. you can't expect them to be perfect or having same attitudes/characters. dont judge Islam by Muslims. judge them as a person. you may not like something of him but you like some other things of him.

It depends on the parents. You can date if the parents aren’t super strict. I dated a Muslim girl and her mom loved me and her dad hated me. I learned a little Arabic to talk to her parents. It was almost a win but her dad said no way. And there was no way I was converting.

I don't know if you actually mentioned this but there is Dating is completely forbbiden in Islam. It's mainly because Allah (SWT) (God) doesn't want us to be heartbroken or sad but also to refrain from other forbbiden acts. Although dating is forbidden there are still a few Muslims that date which is unfortunate. I have to admit, I have thought about what would happen if I ever got a boyfriend but hopefully I don't.

As I departed, I did what was natural to me, which is a hug/ hand shake.. . . some kind of contact. It was a no-go.. . . It's ok, I respect it. As I walked away, I thought to myself: "How can these people, Living in the USA, ever learn our culture, if they cannot have simple contact? " (Are we different? Are we awful?) Living in the USA is about becoming USA citizens, and becoming part of the USA family! I felt I did relate to this woman, and I truly liked her! Not as a "pick-Up" but as a very nice young lady, and possibly a friend. After all, I am too old. Am I wrong in saying: They (muslims) close themselves off to us? I certainly felt this! So, why leave the country they came from, if they don't like the American way of life? I will continue to make friends with Muslims, at all opportunities. I respectfully ask that Muslims accept the American way of life, which my father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather, all the way back to the war of 1812 who helped to build this great country, of freedom, and brothers. Some of My family came here as indentured servitude in the French slave era. We are all the same. And I thank the wonderful country of Canada, New Zealand, And Australia, Our best friends.

I’m from the 🇺🇸 where there are so many negative stereotypes about Muslims. While I’ve personally never had any opinions on Muslims or any religion (I’m a Christian but never judge others on who they choose to believe in but rather base an opinion on if they’re a good person or not) i recently started dating a Muslim man about 6 months ago and he is the most amazing, kind, loving, God-fearing man I’ve ever met.

Dear, this is a good idea,but the reason why people have religion is it gives you some guides and rules, something like a plan for your life(both for this world and daily life and for the judgement day,if you believe in it). @@Icyy7k That's a LIE. There is no where in the Qur'an or Hadith's that a man must get permission from his first wife to marry a second/third/fourth wife. Do not confuse laws passed in some Muslim countries with what Allah says in the Qur'an. Permission is NOT needed from 1st wife.

Salam, This is a very good explanation, shukran. However, I would like to object to the term ‘dating’. This term has a very negative and even sexual connotation in North America.
‘They are dating’ often means ‘’they have a sexual relationship’. I would rather call it ‘meeting your potential spouse in Islam before getting married’.
The culture where we live, is very different from ours. I was told by North Americans on many occasions that I am ‘not normal’ because I ‘don’t have boyfriends’. (!!!!) They say ‘it is good for your health (!!!!👎). To me it sounds very immoral. Of course I will NOT change. I love and fear Allah. Alhamdillah. I follow our prophet Peace Be Upon Him. I will NEVER betray our moral principles.
So…. I am not sure about this term ‘dating’. They have a different connotation ad I explained. Even with all the explanations you provided, dating means something different to them.

Technically there is dating in Islam but it's another word. It's called ENGAGEMENT. That's the stage before marriage when the couple could get to know each other a lot more on another level, with the approval of their guardians, so that they may decide on whether they are right for each other or not. Traditionally the Fatiha is read for blessings and to show the intent for marriage...and the man usually visits the woman at her family's place or with a chaperone outside to get to know her some more. This is perfectly acceptable and encouraged in Islam.

The hadith you quoted. " A woman may be married for four things her wealth......" Can you elaborate on it. From my understanding, men do not have a right over the wives property, she may give on her own volition. But this hadith makes it sound like men can have access to wives wealth without her consent. Is it so?
That means that the woman should be kinda equal in status to the man she is marrying. It is not compulsory but recommended and it is so to avoid problems like if a rich lady marries a very poor man, they are going to have differences in their lifestyles and it might be difficult for them to get along.

Dating in Islam is haram. Only engage in 'mutah' if you want to date. The example has already been set in the Quran why change it?
Some Sunni's look down on Mutah but it is in the Qur'an.
Also looking into the Hadith's it's allowed. Even a 1 night stand is fine as long as it's agreed as 'mutah'. The emphasis here is on the word "temporarily" since dating doesn't always lead to marriage
"Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)'s said, "If a man and a woman agree (to marry temporarily), their marriage should last for three nights, and if they like to continue, they can do so; and if they want to separate, they can do so."" Sahih al-Bukhari 5119 Book 67, Hadith 55

The Prophet said, “O people, I allowed you to engage in Nikah al-Mut’ah, but now Allah has forbidden Mut’ah until the Day of Judgment; so whoever has any wives in a Mut’ah marriage, he should let her go, and do not take anything of the (money) you have given them.” (Sahih Muslim, Hadith-1406)
In another hadith, Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) is reported to have said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade Mut’ah marriage and the meat of domestic donkeys at the time of Khaybar. As per another narration, the Prophet forbade the mut’ah marriage in Khaibar and he forbade the meat of tame donkeys. (Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith-3979, Sahih Muslim, Hadith-1407)
