Just a super generous gacha that gave you a ton of resources and ability to roll for characters. With some amazing art and beautiful characters. IT was a good time playing that game....one of the best.
Yea, I think that was one of the reasons why it shutdown. It was far too generous. I racked up 300k worth of crystals before Shiftup started handing them out en masse
@@zippolighter4903 now I understand why Nikke isn't super generous lol, gotta get the whalers to whale to keep your game afloat, and whalers will most likely still whale even if the in game things are expensive af.
To add clarity to the generosity of Destiny Child, the game started iff very greedy and rhe bscklash was so strong that they became nore generous to get any kind of audiance and keep good faith. I do agree that it was too generous, but when it started with the cheapest thing in the cash shop being $40 and low drop rates the generosity makes more sense.
Destiny Child was the GOAT It was never a question of _will you get the new Character?_ , but rather _how many copies of them will you get?_ I still remember when _Childhood's End_ dropped and the story took a complete turn. I still go back to my old account from time to time. I am forever heartbroken that we won't get a conclusion to the Main Story.
@@easthen Mitra finds a potential way to revive the Succubus Trio through the help of Rani and Reynard. Arhat turns St. Gabriel into an Institute for Exorcists and Demons who seek to coexist. The Archfiend Contest rages on.
Honestly, I hope the writers would at least write out the rest of the story for those who were invested. Ending a game without a conclusion to the story is shit in of itself. If Nikke does that I'll be furious.
@@crazykim The problem is that, there was _too_ many plotlines to close. I'm talking about at least a year or two worth of content. Maybe one day, they'll make Destiny Child II....
Destiny child had one of the least greedy gacha systems. All but collab characters were on standart banner and limited/event banners guaranteed that the first 5 star you pulled was the featured character. If I remember correctly once a week you could also pull the standart banner with 5 star rate of 6%.
It's honestly sad when. Gacha Devs have to make sure there is a way to whale. With Nikke being way more balanced in both aspects it achieved a perfect Gacha that doesn't force your hand. Compared to Genshin and their "generosity" along with lack of true endgame over the years. (I understand Genshin is a more focused on the casual)
tbh even if it wasn't f2p, or it was the same rates as nikke i'd probably still play, i'm too hooked with the story and characters, and now i'm blue balled for life.
@@GGiGotHydra Yes, but casual stops being casual when you dedicate all your time to it, which is something that happened to many players. Also, it gets pretty repetitive after some time and some quit.
thats a problem of certain subset of players, not the game, tho, because genshin doesnt really encourage playing it for hours on end, unlike games like gbf that practically requires grinding, even if you take artifact farm into consideration (because nothing in the game even asks you to grind for it because of how easy the game is, and most hard content giving trial characters to use). most players dont play the way you describe - if they did, then the audience hoyo would try to appeal to would be them and not casuals. @@metalmask5
Man when Nikke goes EOS I hope they do a memorial update for it because I've already grown so attached to the Nikkes even more so than I have for conventional PC and console game characters. I truly would be devastated if I couldn't relive the blabla messages or bond episodes with my favorite girls.
Well with the money they have made with Nikke the game can live for years only with that, the game isn't going to be EOS soon, it's going to happen eventually but i hope that it goes EOS when the whole lot and stuff us finished and there's no more to do, other than make other game, maybe the IP becomes big that it can sustain itself without the game like Fate, maybe don't but i know i would enjoy every second of it, and also yeah i hope a memorial update would be cool.
@@Ms666slayerI feel like since the game doesnt need as much maintenance like Genshin in terms of money. So I feel like the game story will be long done. And maybe one day they make a new game in the Nikke universe. (I know there is one new PS5 game from shiftup but i didnt look much into it since I don't has a PS5)
@@GGiGotHydra that play station game that shift up is making (stellar blade) will tell us if shift up is able to do a good 3D rpg game set in the world of Nikke (like Nier Automata type of gameplay)
Honestly I am SOOOOOOOOOO thankfull for the existance of Shiftup, I never felt so spoiled by a gacha game before and given their history record and how things are fairing up to, I am full support on their endeavors. Hopefully Stellar Blade can sell well, as they are looking for ways to make a pc version of it
6:36 I can verify that as it is true. However if you get at least one character from a collab, you can go to House of Reincarnation for a chance to get a duplicate amount the other 4 of the 5-star Childs that you selected. Hence is what makes this game THE best F2P friendly gacha game.
Man i love Destiny child played it on and off since launch, I'm so sad that we will never get a ending to the story. It started off light and funny but got really dark and interesting near the end. I also remember in the months leading to the EOS they basically made every item in the cash shop free so you could just max out all your characters as they brought back tons of raids so you could try them out with maxed out units.
As a person who played this game for 4 years it hurt to see the eos I played it every day the story was amazing the art was top notch. I nearing the eos I was able to get every costume in the shop from the start of the game to the end I will always remember this game I can go in full detail but I am not going to bore anyone who reads this
Do you know if anyone's uploaded the story episodes on RUclips? I didn't pay much attention to the story when I played it but I've heard quite a few people praise it recently
Destiny Child was incredibly generous with a interesting story and great art. Also with the summon, there was a separate 10-pull you could do once a day which had the 5-star character rate at 6%. More often than not, interacting with that banner would net you a 5 star character. Destiny Child was also incredibly generous with the 5 star and multi-pull tickets it offered the players as rewards for playing. With Destiny Child terminating operations, I'm glad the team were able to move on to other projects within SHIFT UP. You can notice the Destiny Child flair in the recent NIKKE character designs. Also, for those interested, several of the developers working on Stellar Blade used to also work with Kim Hung Tae (CEO of SHIFT UP) when he was the Art Director of Blade and Soul. After Kim Hung Tae left to found SHIFT UP, some of the BnS developers joined SHIFT UP. This is why Stellar Blade's art/graphic style and combat resemble BnS quite a bit. I suspect the story of Stellar Blade will also be as good as the early BnS story.
Destiny Child just showed that devs actually CAN care about there product. They even wanted players to remain there accounts since you can still log in and read the entire Story, watch your units, customize your home screen and play a little minigame that is pokemon mystery dungeon like. Its really a shame its gone.
Let me tell you a few things about DESTINY CHILD, as a free player on the KR version for almost 6 years. The game had a whale catch, albeit one that was easily overlooked: PVP meta. At some point, every new character became a gamechanging juggernaut of powercreep. Old units would lose relevance super fast, so keeping up with the metagame meant constant reinvestment into new characters. This would become especially important with the ability to get a perfected 6* Lv.60+6 uncapped character into a 7*, with a new 13 step skill grid on top of that to further boost their abilities, which required heavy sacrifices in the form of a more tightly regulated currency and loads of 5/6* characters as sacrifices. That turned maximizing characters into a very selective process of party building for high-end event challenges and PVP. Stuff went out of control. Shift Up also eventually started releasing cash-store exclusive skins, and those were kinda pricey. But if you were just a collector, DESTINY CHILD was paradise. Every new character received a special Rate-Up banber where you'd be guaranteed that character within 50 pulls, but the banner would shut down as soon as you get one. Further copies could then be obtained from the "regular" Rate-Up banner, but why bother? And I will admit, DESTINY CHILD spoiled me on gacha generosity, but it also taught me to think twice before I'd commit to any other game. Though I am a Genshin slave and a Nikke regular now, DESTINY CHILD will always be that one game I forever cherish. It had a lot of fanservice, but akso a lot of straight-up badasses, and while the ladies were undeniably dominant, the dudes received just as much spice and sexappeal, and I can appreciate that commitment.
This review is very true. Destiny Child has character designs I've still never seen any other game come close to. Remember the badass old lady on the motorcycle? Hell yes.
This was a nice retrospective. I’ve never played it and only know of the art when Kim Hyung-tae was posting it on Twitter back when he started the company.
DC was actually the first game i spent money on. The summer events stories were always entertaining and full of care and the community was second to none. I'm thankful for the time that i had with the game and the care the devs put into it.
Hum... what is more generous about Destiny child is that when you get unlucky with a banner you get some gems back each 10 multi or so and at some point the character itself, meaning you can't miss a character if you play everyday. And also a special shop that work like molds system where the characters are in a wishlist. -Also what I don't understand is why they did not op for sharing Nikke popularity by collaborating : putting DC characters in Nikke and versa. (exchange Hidlr - Emma, Justice Madfet - Snow White, Maat - Rapunzel as what a character is in the other world). -If Destiny Child decided to update to pc version, and add back view in fight, burst wallpaper, remove some useless mechanics (puppets for eg), and more important share the game (active youtube channel, some ads and patner creators) It will be a game lewd and enough popular not unlike Brown Dust 2. And it is like Nikke, up to a certain point they could not understand that many people, millions want to play their game.
Destiny Child was amazing! The character design, the music, chefs kiss. Even the story sometimes surprises me. It's such a shame it died and I still miss it every now and then
The reason why Destiny Child was so generous was because Shift up got caught by the fair trade commission for manipulating gacha rates and were fined and ordered to pay back every single premium currency bought by the players.
Love the video because I never knew of the game till I got into Nikke. But I heard about Destiny Child and was curious about it. But then found out it was EOS/EOL. But this was a great video for context about the history of Shift Up. Because I know my $40+ a month on Nikke content has help pay for Stellar Blade.
I started playing Destiny Child in early 2020 up until September 2021. My biggest gripe with the game was that it became a job to keep up. The main story was progressing at a snail's pace, and most of the game time was spent grinding on like 8 different modes at once, time which would typically just be on auto. By the end, I'd just set the game to play itself for however many rounds it could do and just put the game on my desk while I read a book. Failure to do so meant you'd fall behind on one of the many resource acquisition necessary to progress. With that said, I absolutely adored the live 2D, and it is nice to see what Shift Up has learned from Destiny Child when they transfered over to Nikke, it really shows.
As someone who was actually a long time fan of Destiny child, the gameplay was more of a team building thing, where u had to manage the time the skills were activated only in the late game mode, but it was fun to see how ur progress was rewarded very well. The game was extremely generous and it came to a point where the only thing I had to do was pull for newer meta units. It was actually very interesting to build your team for the difficult raids, where the main thing was managing how to position your teams (man that was kinda hard).
I sticked with DC from day one in KR server and it's been like that for more 5 years. I was literally shook and grieved for days after they gave the announcement.
God I miss DC. It was one of the first gachas I had played, and I still have it installed on my phone to this day, dispute it being a deadweight right now... I wish it would get a sequel or a event in nikke to bring back some of those characters to life again...
With the memorial update I am lead to believe that shift up did not want to shut it down, but Tencent do. If Shift up were ready to move on to the next big thing for bigger profits, why even bother allowing the players to access and view the content of a game that has been shut down? It feels like their last ditch effort to preserve something they had passion in.
I played DC for a bit. I ultimately quit because it just wasn't engaging enough as a game. At higher levels, it was usually hard to justify actually playing manually since the CPU plays near-perfectly. You'd basically be handicapping yourself by inserting room for human error. On top of that, there were MOUNTAINS of daily chores to do, which was also given an auto-mode to go through it all, so the game basically became a 30-minute screensaver on my phone every day. The storyline was okay, but not really enough to keep me invested (like Nikke's does), and events were also very repetitive, so once the novelty of collecting sexy characters wore off, I just uninstalled it and moved on.
It was one of the best gacha games. Interesting story , fun gameplay , Beautiful art and it was very generous. Even alternative costumes could be acquired free by simply playing.
Destiny Child will always have a special place in my heart. I started playing it when they announced the Miku collab (so quite early after the release I think) and since then, I logged in every day to do my daily tasks, read the story... At some point I even downloaded the Korean version to see the new Childs before they were added to the global version ! Literally, the first thing I did after waking up and last thing before going to bed was playing DC. All that without spending any real money, and I still had all the characters (except the ones from other collabs I've missed) When Nikke was announced, I tried it day 1, stayed for a few months and quit after the first Christmas event, with Anne and Rupee. It wasn't the same, the universe's setting wasn't as appealing to me... However I came back for the NieR event and after DC's EOS. I was looking for a game like Destiny Child, that was quite generous and simple and I knew Nikke was a great candidate. Though I miss the Childs, the music, the story of Shift Up's previous gacha, I am happy they were able to find success with their new game and to see the team is as passionate, and my daily routine hasn't changed. Only the game I play has
Checking out the memorial apps from time to time, OST was nostalgic af. Missed WB mode and spending time optimizing team comp. No gacha ever feel the same, been playing Nikke since launch but quit last year since the novelty wears off, it had its moment tho and I still like Nikke very much.
destiny child was and is still the only gacha that could retain my attention, i tried so many gacha over the years, none could get me to log in every day because i wanted to. I am still searching for my next destiny child 5 years later. I even downloaded the kr version when global wasn't out.
I know I'm late to the party, but I haven't played Destiny Child for a good while (over a year apparently) and I just tried to play today. Broke my heart to see it was shut down. 💔 I put so much time and effort into it, it was a good reminder to never waste time on a live service game. Really going to miss this one...😔
I became aware of Destint Child from their colaboration with Street Fighter collab. Chun Li and Cammy became characters and they were very well drawed and animated. I never got to play the game because back then the idea of ever playing a gatcha game was completely out of the question for me. The fact that Nikke managed to find the perfect balance between generosity and scarcity and it's a very pleasent and rewarding experience is what finally made me get interested in the genre. As some have pointed out, Destiny Child walked so Nikke could run. Also I must say that having a memorial mode is a massive giga chad move from Shift Up and knowing that they care this much about their players really makes me more inclined to invest my time in their games.
I really miss the game, it stood out to me at the time, because most mobile gatcha games were either in "fantasy" or "post-apocalyptic" setting, but Destiny Child characters, music and story were unique and entertaining to me. The game actually thought me to not play trashy mobile games that treat you like an NPC slave who grinds 24/7 that one game, to hopefully get a character. But getting characters easily wasnt the issue, its the pricing and how they monetized the game that was the issue. While the game was too generous (not as, generious in characters only, most of the skins were almost free as well, we as players knew its too generous btw, we werent delutional), its the fact that its spending options were just straight dumb, like 47$ battlepass(for a MOBILE game) with almost no lower options, even if you want to support the game as a low spender.
Destiny child was always a interesting gacha game I came across by far. Without even know that Nikke and destiny child was made by the same company. I was able to tell from their art style that they were the same. Also if you’re into covering gacha games that are end of service or pretty much dead I recommend covering King’s Raid and Brave Frontier.
They even give us free merch if we joins certain events, that time i join the valentine event i guess (i don't remember cause it's been a years ago). They want us to submit our artwork via moots and mention our id so later they gonna notice us if they pick our artwork. Later they pick some of artwork and post it on twitter. For all submission that didn't get pick, they give them 1000 crystal (it's equal to 1000 primogems in genshin). That time my artwork is the one they pick, i just so happy. They send code via mail in game. I use that code for their store so i could get one of their merch for free with free shipping. I really grateful that i join that event and get at least one of their merch cause, now destiny child gone forever now 😢 i miss to play it so much, no matter if people say that the gameplay boring cause I love the characters design and the main story. Sadly the story never get proper ending. i wish they give us destiny child 2 😭 Btw sorry for my bad english :""
11:18 My first gacha game was FGO and it took me months to get a 5*, then even longer to get one that I actually wanted to use. I only finally got Waver when he was available for exchange ticket last time. I still vaguely remember that time one maintenance update got extended into like 8 hours. Every time I see anybody complaining about gacha rates or maintenance time my first reaction is always annoyance and disbelief, but then I remind myself we all have different experiences and I should be open-minded.
if they actually marketed DC as much as they did Nikke and actually gave it good gameplay. it wouldve done so much better for how long it lasted. i still feel like DC was overall a better game, it just lacked the gameplay.
I remember playing destiny child and loving how generous they were especially after playing FGO and leaving a terribke taste in my mouth having to spend 200 to get a unit. One of the things i loved is how the standard gave you a free daily single roll and seeing how crazy it is to pull a 5 star from a limited banner was amazing! The thing they really had me stop playing near the end was the constant adding of buttons on the UI, it felt overwhelming to catch up with all of it daily and eventually stopped me from playing. But the art was amazing.
Man, I loved playing this game. I remember having to jailbreak my phone so I could swap the KR file for a english community translation. Even managed to snag both artbooks
Destinys Child had a really cool system where you could watch people doing 10 rolls, or invite people to watch your own 10 rolls. If you got a double or triple pull everyone watching got diamonds. Im surprised more games havent tried to make pulling a social thing
Wow, I had no idea that Destiny Child went into EOS 2 days before my birthday last year. I had such good memories playing I had lot of 6 and 5 stars and the story was fantastic. I remember downloading the tap tap version for no censorship Raiding was fun, PvP was a puzzle if figuring out how to build your time to counter other teams. Ma'at was super Bust(y)ed with her Rez and Rhea having Anti-heal to reverse healing. I was so hyped when Blazblue and DOA had colabs with DC I heard later there was a Guilty Gear collab as well. The hot springs was a nice break from the normal content and it was cool that collab characters also got art after the fact it was added. Destiny Child was my escape away from FGO, if I didn't get a 5 star I would get 2 or even 3 for free without rolling. I remember I stop playing after the the conclusion to to the first major arc of the story always saying I would come back but I never did. I only now realize how much I love Destiny Child from my phone wallpaper to mouse pad I actually got last year of Bari and a pin of Davi I wear on my jacket every day I'm going to miss it...
I played Destiny Child almost since it came out, until it was closed, and I still have it in the memorial version, in fact I had to download the Korean version because in the global version the (in quotes) final chapters were not there.
Destiny Child was fun, i like the story, the characters, and the music, but yeah I agree that without Destiny Child, there wouldn't be Nikke. DC did its job and it's better SU focus on Nikke instead. I will always have fond memory for DC.
Destiny Child was closed down because they wanted to put More to his Nikke and project eve a.k.a. stellar blade. I actually played the game from start to finish starting with the Korean server, then jumped over to the JP and global server. I actually did content for all three servers throughout the games entire lifespan. On my original RUclips channel I’m actually uploading a video tomorrow talking about a new announcement. We just got From another company with shift that is reviving the game or something of the sorts.
I loved Destiny Child, they were the most generous gacha I’ve played in my years of playing gacha Was devastated about the EoS… but at least they had a Memorial update
iooooo the music in this video, damn i miss that game so much, i was really into it, for years. Edit: yes it was more generous that nikke, but not that much.
Just watched this video because I just learned that Destiny Child closed and the memorial version. With your last point past but 11:00 I agree and disagree to some parts. Yes, people’s expectations will be set by what the developers do but to a certain extent but people know that stingy developers are stingy. The examples you brought up Genshin and FGO, why do you think those games are still going despite their low rates and stinginess with the gacha currency? It’s because at the time of their release they were one of a kind and have a huge concurrent player base, you have to remember that people are willing to overlook flaws depending on the circumstances. Genshin players don’t regard devs as saints whenever they add in QoL updates people have always been asking for or whenever they give out a free 10 pull, If they play Genshin then it’s not uncommon to hear someone say “Lmao, Genshin could never.” For the Muse Dash example, you can’t just suddenly change an agreement or this case a promise of sorts. You got to give them something to soften the blow like 6 more months of content and when you release the new dlc you add a significant amount of songs, new stages, new characters or variants of existing characters and it’s still the same pass system. But this time, the old pass is all the set of songs released before and they remake the current agreement on the second pass and this time they set an amount of time for the amount of content included. Of course backlash is to be expected but you have to make do with what you did.
A video on monster strike would be so cool! The game is still up in Japan but shut down all of its international servers back in about 2017 after a decline in popularity...
As a player of Fire emblem Heroes I'm used to getting standard banners at 3% and monthly mythic/legendary banners at 8% with rates going higher the more you summon. Isn't generous though because of the powercreep ramping up and making the newest units have a direct counter after a week of being released
I think I tried the game at some point, but my poor phone could not handle it well, so I stopped playing after a half hour or so. Man, that memorial update is great, I wish that was an industry standard.
I got curious about Shift up other games since stellar blade is coming out soon and my friend told me that it's the same studio as nikke. I saw destiny child when I went to check out other shift up games and it caught my interest since its also a gacha game. Funny enough it's still on the playstore and your able to download it and I actually let itself full download only to realized you need an account to play the game and later found out the game service ended
I played it several times through the years, but I stopped about 2 years ago. - Focus was entirely on getting and upgrading a perfect party for PvE (Pvp was whaling) - The gacha system was quite generous, and that ideal team was obtainable pretty easily - Never spent a dime, but I can tell monetization was outrageous, packs were soooo expensive - Character design was pure fan service - Dailies/weeklies were extremely time consuming. Doing my dailites took me like 3 full hours, even on autoplay - Events required a lot of time as well, and they happened often. I wasn't able to complete them, I could only reach the couple last stages with luck I wish you played it a bit more to give us more insight, but good video overall. I'm glad I got away from mobile gaming. Also, Rock and stone!
I didnt even realize Shift Up made Nikke and Stellar Blade until you made the connection Kinda gives me a bit more trust with them considering they atleast have made other games that were pretty good, same with Browndust 2 and Neowiz w/ Lies of P etc.
GuardianE did pull vids and generous it was indeed. To the point of a way to get collab characters after their events ended It was ahead of its time as it didn't get much notice unlike NIKKE (2018 was when AL was starting to get notice and the big game was granblue) DC used l2d as a normal thing when other saved them for premium skins (AL and GFL) IMO DC was the "price" the devs paid for the publisher support (they likely "requested" them to end DC), as if it was purely being unsustainable, it'd bite it sooner. And the fact they bothered to make a memorial thing showed that Shift Up cared about the game on a deeper level. If Genshin did QoL, esteem would rise. But not likely to happen as long as it's players whale like they do.
For a game that all about devils, the game is like a angel that grace the earth. But I think ShiftUp manage the EoS right and more game company need to follow this similar example.
every time you say how generous nikke is i have to think about how it took freaking 95 pulls to get Elegg. Not a single SSR in between that game better makes up for it by balancing out the odds of that happening during half anniversary
It is pretty generous, but it stings _bad_ when your luck dips. The pity system just isn't enough to alleviate that feeling in the "near future" of the shit luck. I honestly think they should add another kind of pity on top of it.
this is the only gatcha i ever truly loved. destiny child never felt like it was baiting me into spending as long as i was willing to play the game, every event was exciting because you knew you could get all the new childs if you put a little grind in, and the encouragement meant it kept a real playerbase. it's a shame that making a game that consistently rewards the player is considered an unviable business strategy in the gatcha space
Destiny child was the last large pre FGO style gacha. A lot of gacha used to be like that before FGO. the generosity was wild. I got so much for free. I remember when it launched they launched it with like 1-2 pilot episodes. I think the story fit better for an anime than a game honestly it wasnt deep enough for a visual novel type like fate but the episodic nature was more fitting to an anime than a compilation of cut scenes with enough world building to watch but not explore like genshin. I quit DC because I got so many characters and couldnt level them as I wanted because I had too many characters and it frustrated me. 12:25 Ironically FGO handles improvements the best ive seen for gacha. There is a pity. Every year the anniversary gets better rewards to players. They reduced costs of the guaranteed SSR on anni and new years. They provide animation updates, SSR and SR tickets, buffs constantly. A couple years back they even took the time to make more low 1-2 star rarity characters and regularly make 3 star characters, these low rarity characters 1-2 star cannot be gained through the paid money gacha and are some fan favorites like Nobro and gareth
I was actually just wondering what was going on in this game, as i havent touched it in a couple of years and i recently picked nikke back up. A terrible day for rain indeed
I still remember the time when I first started playing NIKKE. The gameplay was just so unique to a mobile game that Im addicted to it for hours but not only that the story was actually really good, I still remember how shocking chapter 7 was and I finally realized that this game is really something.
While i am looking forward to Nikke x Stellar in the future, i actually want it to come later, after it has done collabs with other brands: more profits for SU, and more players for Nikke from the hype it created by the time they collab
Here's my opinion as a commander (formerly archfiend candidate) First of all the Devs really care for their fanbase, I mean it Secondly, many DC mechanics were upgraded and taken to Nikke. Personally I like the most those where you can bond with your favorite characters, DC had the spa... Nikke has the counseling session e.g. And lastly Nikkes and Childs creation are kinda similar (for the few things what we know about Nikke lore) This vid made me feel kinda melancholic and happy cause I miss Destiny Child but now I'm part of a lively and nice community which is the one around Nikke
Destiny Child, specifically the Korean version, was one of the most generous gachas if not the most generous gacha with a generic premium currency pulling system, but only during Shift Up's first run of the game. When they sold the game to, I think Line, it became horrible, Line ruined everything that was good about the game while they were in charge. Once Shift Up took back over they just continued with Line's shitty practices, I'm not sure if they ever went back to their old ways as I lost interest in the game during that time. iirc Line also introduced one of the worst dupe systems in history during their run. (it might have been Shift Up's 2nd run I'm a little hazy on the details) Normally you would only need about 7 copies of a character to max dupe them (which is the +X you see on some characters), which was fairly doable with generous the game was back in the day. However eventually they introduced the Forge (which are the red stars you see on some characters) which made characters EXTREMELY broken in exchange for massive amounts of materials and dupes. Forge needed about 20 dupes if memory serves me correctly which were getting harder and harder to get with how stingy the game was becoming at the time.
Fun Fact: DC was so "generous" because they got caught manipulating rates, and actually got sued for it (so did a bunch of other publishers at the time), they actually had to refund players all their gems at the time, it was insane. But yah I guess we can go with the narrative that Shift Up is the most generous gacha developer ever, total saints indeed. Tbh I only watched this to see if you would do actual research on this, but guess not.
Man, I just loved monster collector games, I remember when I played "Monster Warlord" back in 2011, when Destiny Child dropped I played it even at work every day all day lol The brutality on the man dunkin the M. Bison line on Destiny Child fans, I cant anymore...
oh believe me we "Destiny Child community" were fully aware of the conditions of other gacha games. afterall, what kind of gacha player only plays 1 gacha? Destiny Child was absolutely the best! the art was beautiful, the music was amazing, and the gameplay, while seemingly boring, is actually quite fun for end-game. it's a strategy game not an action game. And the fan service? second to none! you will be missed.... RIP DC
@Pseychie_NIKKE you should definitely make a video on Exos Heroes, played it for 2 years and dropped it, came back to it being EOS'd, would like to hear someone's theory/conclusion on it
I played it for a year when they hit the 2 year mark i believe, really like both PLOTS, but since i started to get bored of my numbers not being big i left it, sad to see it go honestly i still regard it has the best gacha game i played, (i mean cmon why does genshin make you wait almost a year to pull for the chars you want and old 5 stars not relevant now are yet to be in the main wish list) either way i will go see the memorial version to see what i could have got if i stayed a bit longer but i got to say the daily stuff was a lot to do, believe me and also another factor for me leaving.
I only know this name because Dead or alive xtreme venus vacation had a collab with them when i had first started the game, based on the default outfit you could win i was hella confused wtf the game was about (it wasnt super skimpy unless you max limit broke the outfit, a DoAXVV staple) interesting to see the actual game and some of the stuff from it. It does seem like shiftup "learned" from the "mistakes" by just adding a reason to whale, but still keeping that generosity. Ive seen some videos of NIKKE from launch and the struggles people had with it and the systems that were incomplete or flawed. Im happy that shiftup seems to be interested in improving the game and fixing things rather than just milking what they can and moving on.
Destiny Child stepped down to force it's players base (including me) to move in Nikke. (it's the time when Tencent get's involved to Nikke) Hoping Nikke will get a reference or a crossover characters from Destiny Child
I was 100% f2p during the majority of its run, and I will say it had to be the most f2p friendly gacha game I've ever played. I had practically every character(minus some Collab that I skipped), was always full of items and crystals, the rng was amazing for me, the grind wasn't too heavy. I quit a few years back because I got bored of how easy it felt. I mainly played when a new chapter of the story came out or a new character released. I tried to come back to the game earlier this year and was shocked to find out it had shut down. I will miss it dearly. I haven't found another game as generous as this one since..
destiny child walked so Nikke could run o7
So nikke's could bounce

destiny child walked so other live2d based games could run.
@@warzone822 Fr 🤣
The commander, rapi, anis and neon waking up as their Destiny child counter parts for April fools would be the most appropriate time for a crossover
Even thought the idea seems appealing on the clients side, sadly it very unprofitable on the company side.
@@lrdalucardartthere's a reason he said "April's fools"
Just a super generous gacha that gave you a ton of resources and ability to roll for characters. With some amazing art and beautiful characters. IT was a good time playing that game....one of the best.
and even though the story started kinda slow, it got good, fast.
Yea, I think that was one of the reasons why it shutdown. It was far too generous. I racked up 300k worth of crystals before Shiftup started handing them out en masse
@zippolighter4903 Wow that kinda sucks. Meanwhile Nikke's prices are ridiculous!
@@cartoonvideos5 I understand the reasoning, but it makes me less interested in spending money
@@zippolighter4903 now I understand why Nikke isn't super generous lol, gotta get the whalers to whale to keep your game afloat, and whalers will most likely still whale even if the in game things are expensive af.
The character designs on Destiny Child though. *Chefs Kiss*
some of the artists for DC is in nikke now so W
edit: specially Kim Hyung Tae, he has a very recognizable art style i think he drew rapi and neon
Kim was paying special attention to them
To add clarity to the generosity of Destiny Child, the game started iff very greedy and rhe bscklash was so strong that they became nore generous to get any kind of audiance and keep good faith. I do agree that it was too generous, but when it started with the cheapest thing in the cash shop being $40 and low drop rates the generosity makes more sense.
Yikes $40 being the cheapest is just . . . . Yikes 😳😳
Destiny Child was the GOAT
It was never a question of _will you get the new Character?_ , but rather _how many copies of them will you get?_
I still remember when _Childhood's End_ dropped and the story took a complete turn.
I still go back to my old account from time to time. I am forever heartbroken that we won't get a conclusion to the Main Story.
The story was so good 😞
How the story stops?

Honestly, I hope the writers would at least write out the rest of the story for those who were invested. Ending a game without a conclusion to the story is shit in of itself. If Nikke does that I'll be furious.
@@crazykim
The problem is that, there was _too_ many plotlines to close.
Every time I remember Destiny Child it hurts... I miss all the characters.
It's honestly sad when. Gacha Devs have to make sure there is a way to whale. With Nikke being way more balanced in both aspects it achieved a perfect Gacha that doesn't force your hand. Compared to Genshin and their "generosity" along with lack of true endgame over the years. (I understand Genshin is a more focused on the casual)
tbh even if it wasn't f2p, or it was the same rates as nikke i'd probably still play, i'm too hooked with the story and characters, and now i'm blue balled for life.
same bro…
Yess i need collab of destiny child x nikke , even cameo would be better .
It makes the most sense😊
That’s not good for you bro
Just hope that the fans are dedicated enough to make a private server like the Dragalia Lost community have.
I also remember in the months leading to the EOS they basically made every item in the cash shop free so you could just max out all your characters as they brought back tons of raids so you could try them out with maxed out units.
i thought my game was bugged, so i went online and ended up on discord, read the announcement and my heart sank, i have nikke now so its all good.
Destiny Child will never leave my phone it is an absolute gem of a gacha game the waifu designs are on another level.
Hell yes.
@@Jetsetlemming Kubaba was the sickest granny I've ever seen. A bit disappointing that she later got a younger version.
It's such a shame it died and I still miss it every now and then
Destiny Child was a really fun game while it was live. And the designs are still god tier! And bless the encensored patches too!
Sexiest designs to date, I feel.
The reason why Destiny Child was so generous was because Shift up got caught by the fair trade commission for manipulating gacha rates and were fined and ordered to pay back every single premium currency bought by the players.
yo wth lmao!
It was magnificent, down to the last minute detail.
I had a fire bleed team. Great fun. kitsune waifu was amazing.
I hope they do a collab or introduce alternative skins for the 3 main cast
Destiny Child player based weren't spoiled, they were treated with respect. Which is more than can be said about most gachas.
Had a surprisingly entertaining story too! I even liked some of the side stories, which is rare...
6:02 The absolute best free-to-play gacha game. There are no others that can compete.
It was one of the best gacha games. Interesting story , fun gameplay , Beautiful art and it was very generous. Even alternative costumes could be acquired free by simply playing.
Destiny Child 2 someday.
Of all the gachas i have played Destiny child was the best by a distance.
All that without spending any real money, and I still had all the characters (except the ones from other collabs I've missed)
When Nikke was announced, I tried it day 1, stayed for a few months and quit after the first Christmas event, with Anne and Rupee.
I played DC since the start and now playing nikke, i loved both games
I forgot to claim some skins, and awaken some Childs. Still, I really appreciate the Memorial Update.
I was there before DC went away.
About 6 months before EOS.
Sadly the story never get proper ending. i wish they give us destiny child 2 😭
Btw sorry for my bad english :""
I would love to see more gatcha game content like this !! Making it a whole series EOS chronicles
Even managed to snag both artbooks
how did you make a game ending so emotional, bruh
Destinys Child had a really cool system where you could watch people doing 10 rolls, or invite people to watch your own 10 rolls. If you got a double or triple pull everyone watching got diamonds. Im surprised more games havent tried to make pulling a social thing
Wow, I had no idea that Destiny Child went into EOS 2 days before my birthday last year. I had such good memories playing I had lot of 6 and 5 stars and the story was fantastic. I remember downloading the tap tap version for no censorship
Raiding was fun, PvP was a puzzle if figuring out how to build your time to counter other teams.
I only now realize how much I love Destiny Child from my phone wallpaper to mouse pad I actually got last year of Bari and a pin of Davi I wear on my jacket every day
I'm going to miss it...
There are plenty of Memorial codes available if you look long enough online, if you are curious to see what’s there
I played Destiny Child almost since it came out, until it was closed, and I still have it in the memorial version, in fact I had to download the Korean version because in the global version the (in quotes) final chapters were not there.
Played KOF Allstars alongside DC. Trust me, alot of us had other games because you didn't really need to spend at all in DC.
I loved Destiny Child, they were the most generous gacha I’ve played in my years of playing gacha
Was devastated about the EoS… but at least they had a Memorial update
iooooo the music in this video, damn i miss that game so much, i was really into it, for years. Edit: yes it was more generous that nikke, but not that much.
That was my game I've played from release to end, I miss this game sometimes
Just watched this video because I just learned that Destiny Child closed and the memorial version.
With your last point past but 11:00 I agree and disagree to some parts. Yes, people’s expectations will be set by what the developers do but to a certain extent but people know that stingy developers are stingy. The examples you brought up Genshin and FGO, why do you think those games are still going despite their low rates and stinginess with the gacha currency? It’s because at the time of their release they were one of a kind and have a huge concurrent player base, you have to remember that people are willing to overlook flaws depending on the circumstances. Genshin players don’t regard devs as saints whenever they add in QoL updates people have always been asking for or whenever they give out a free 10 pull, If they play Genshin then it’s not uncommon to hear someone say “Lmao, Genshin could never.”
For the Muse Dash example, you can’t just suddenly change an agreement or this case a promise of sorts.
- Focus was entirely on getting and upgrading a perfect party for PvE (Pvp was whaling)
- The gacha system was quite generous, and that ideal team was obtainable pretty easily
- Never spent a dime, but I can tell monetization was outrageous, packs were soooo expensive
- Character design was pure fan service
- Dailies/weeklies were extremely time consuming. Doing my dailites took me like 3 full hours, even on autoplay
- Events required a lot of time as well, and they happened often. I wasn't able to complete them, I could only reach the couple last stages with luck
I wish you played it a bit more to give us more insight, but good video overall. I'm glad I got away from mobile gaming. Also, Rock and stone!
God I remember when this game came out back when I was in early high school. I used to play it so much and had a few 6 stars. Miss it!
I didnt even realize Shift Up made Nikke and Stellar Blade until you made the connection
Kinda gives me a bit more trust with them considering they atleast have made other games that were pretty good, same with Browndust 2 and Neowiz w/ Lies of P etc.
really enjoyed the video
i am down for these type of videos :D
GuardianE did pull vids and generous it was indeed. To the point of a way to get collab characters after their events ended
It was ahead of its time as it didn't get much notice unlike NIKKE (2018 was when AL was starting to get notice and the big game was granblue)
DC used l2d as a normal thing when other saved them for premium skins (AL and GFL)
IMO DC was the "price" the devs paid for the publisher support (they likely "requested" them to end DC), as if it was purely being unsustainable, it'd bite it sooner.
Not a single SSR in between
that game better makes up for it by balancing out the odds of that happening during half anniversary
It is pretty generous, but it stings _bad_ when your luck dips. The pity system just isn't enough to alleviate that feeling in the "near future" of the shit luck. I honestly think they should add another kind of pity on top of it.
thats gacha for you, sometimes you lose sometiems you win, but indeed, nikke, compared to the competition, is EXTREMELY generous
this is the only gatcha i ever truly loved. destiny child never felt like it was baiting me into spending as long as i was willing to play the game, every event was exciting because you knew you could get all the new childs if you put a little grind in, and the encouragement meant it kept a real playerbase. it's a shame that making a game that consistently rewards the player is considered an unviable business strategy in the gatcha space
Thank you SHIFT UP for the amazing experience
I still remember the time when I first started playing NIKKE. The gameplay was just so unique to a mobile game that Im addicted to it for hours but not only that the story was actually really good, I still remember how shocking chapter 7 was and I finally realized that this game is really something.
Man.. I really Miss this game... i have been play this game non stop since it just Release at Jpn.
Abaddon carried me the whole main story. I'll never forget him. Wish he was in Nikke.
While i am looking forward to Nikke x Stellar in the future, i actually want it to come later, after it has done collabs with other brands: more profits for SU, and more players for Nikke from the hype it created by the time they collab
also, there was a modding community for the game. mainly to replace some textures.... yes, exactly what you are thinking of!
Here's my opinion as a commander (formerly archfiend candidate)
First of all the Devs really care for their fanbase, I mean it
Secondly, many DC mechanics were upgraded and taken to Nikke. Personally I like the most those where you can bond with your favorite characters, DC had the spa... Nikke has the counseling session e.g.
And lastly Nikkes and Childs creation are kinda similar (for the few things what we know about Nikke lore)
This vid made me feel kinda melancholic and happy cause I miss Destiny Child but now I'm part of a lively and nice community which is the one around Nikke
Always enjoy your videos and ive been rather curious of Destiny Child. So I'm eager to waych this.
yeah can confirm pretty much all the stuff said
ONLY info that one could say its wrong is that you could actually autoplay up to 3X
Man, I just loved monster collector games, I remember when I played "Monster Warlord" back in 2011, when Destiny Child dropped I played it even at work every day all day lol
The brutality on the man dunkin the M.
RIP DC
@Pseychie_NIKKE you should definitely make a video on Exos Heroes, played it for 2 years and dropped it, came back to it being EOS'd, would like to hear someone's theory/conclusion on it
Exos Heroes was such a good game then they shitted on it. It sucks 😞
That memorial update is so damn cool
Destiny Child stepped down to force it's players base (including me) to move in Nikke. (it's the time when Tencent get's involved to Nikke)
Hoping Nikke will get a reference or a crossover characters from Destiny Child
I was 100% f2p during the majority of its run, and I will say it had to be the most f2p friendly gacha game I've ever played. I had practically every character(minus some Collab that I skipped), was always full of items and crystals, the rng was amazing for me, the grind wasn't too heavy. I quit a few years back because I got bored of how easy it felt. I mainly played when a new chapter of the story came out or a new character released. I tried to come back to the game earlier this year and was shocked to find out it had shut down. I will miss it dearly. I haven't found another game as generous as this one since..
I didn't even know about Destiny Child until my mom had saved some of the OST on her Spotify
