    For video I think you are correct Sony wins on that generation but compare it to the xh2 and xh2s is a different story, stills I think it’s much closer and lens dependant, more detail can be had with the larger sensor size but overall there is far more to an image than critical sharpness and detail, to much can look clinical and sterile. Sometimes images are to dam sharp they look fake and plastic but to so many now it’s all about sharpness and detail rather than feel and emotion. Makes me chuckle those that buy, say the A7Iv and then process for the vintage look and add texture and grain 😂 in my 30 years in the game the best feel, most emotive and organic portrait I’ve taken was on the original XT1 16mp, to this day it’s on my studio wall and wows who ever views it. Imho the best sensor Sony made was in the A7sll 12mp, the skin tone and feel from that sensor was stunning and almost felt like the XT1.

      Makes me chuckle when read such nonsense comments made by Fuji fanboys to feel better. Im X-T5 owner and I know that Sony ecosystem is lightyears ahead of Fuji, but sect of Fujifilm cannot accept that and keep crying under every Sony camera video. P.S. Every single sensor in Fuji cameras is made by Sony, so deal with it.

    For me it the video options that Fuji offers sound nice. Aside being able to shoot open gate, and being able to disable noise reduction, it’s tempting. As for image quality the apsc sensor keeps up well with full frame. I really like the colours out of camera on the Fuji as well as the nice natural highlights roll off.

    IMHO these vintage dials of the Fuji cameras are stupid. It is simply not an old camera. It's a modern camera faking a bit of nostalgy with these dials. But for modern operation of digital cameras these dials are not practical at all. I don't see any sense in it.

  • @JasonLawrenceNoel
    @JasonLawrenceNoel Год назад +4

    Thank you for the video sir. Just a heads up tho, Fuji has front and rear dials for shutter speed and ISO so you don’t have to look at the top. The iconic top dials are there if you want to use those also. So both are an option.
    Lightroom worms ? Not on my xt4 or xt5 raw files in Adobe that I have seen in a very long time. And I agree about portraits I have had a canon and Sony previously and it was always so much more trouble getting skin tones how I like compared to the Fuji. But all the top camera there’s days are so good I don’t think any of it matters once you go all in on a system and learn to work with it 100% and are not consistent looking else where. I do find Gear acquisition syndrome GAS a problem for me tho 😂. And always thinking FF would be better…. Even tho I look back a my EOS R files and really out of camera don’t like them nearly as much. It’s like I am hypnotized in thinking FF will somehow make my photos better even when clearly they haven’t in the past lol again thanks for the video. Have fun and keep creating 💪

    I'm mainly here to upgrade from my mom's old Canon EOS Rebel T5 DSLR. I was looking at the Fujifilm X-T line up, and saw the exposure dials and was almost hard set on getting the X-T5, but most of my photography is done very late at night so a full frame piqued my interest. The only reason I went with the A7 IV was that it was available at a pawn shop near me for around the same price as an X-T5 with a good lens new. Also yeah, you can still shoot shit on an expensive camera... My grandpa, no offense, took some pretty crappy shots on a $3000 camera... For my moms wedding. If you don't own a camera I'd highly suggest getting a used DSLR, there's a bunch out there for very affordable prices, sometimes even free!! See if you enjoy photography before splurging on a big boy camera like my grandpa. Hell, you can even use a phone camera and get good shots. I have a friend who does that. Obviously the MP count is lower on a phone but you can still take good shots.
    The A7 IV also has an APS-C mode so I can ease into full frame.

    I have the X-T5, tremendous camera for daylight photos, but once you crank up the iso it starts to produce too much noise, DR is better than x-t3 but still noisy if going above +2 stops recovery. Many of my photos from my last travel lost quality because of noise. I am thinking to switch to FF A7iv with the 24mm f2. 8 to keep it compact and light

    I owned Sony A7R4. Finally Sony made the camera much more pleasant then all previous line of crop and full frame. It is very capable canera in many ways, but the main down side is its colours and its way behind Fujifilm colours. If low light and fast autofocus metters the most, I would say Sony a7R4 is top notch! But if colours are important, forget about Sony and get Fuji or Nikon

    I switched to Sony as well after shooting with Fuji for 7 years - I should have done it sooner. If I want the Fuji experience, I just grab my 100V. I started with the A7iv and quickly snagged an FX3 for video work. Now that my A7iv is relegated to primarily photos, I just couldn't get along with the flippy screen. I picked up an A7R5 this week and man, the screen and EVF alone make it worth the upgrade. Really enjoying your channel and journey!

      @JLStreetDoc Год назад

      What’s wrong with the flippy screen. I’ve been shooting Fuji for 6 years and thinking about switching to Sony, most likely the a7iv. Reason: Sony simply has better image quality.

    • @RandumbTech
      @RandumbTech Год назад +2

      @@JLStreetDoc If you are considering the switch to Sony, absolutely do it. The Sony's are incredible. My images are flat out better. Don't listen to the Fuji fanboys about "it's not the gear, it's you don't know how to use it" yada yada. My pictures and video are on a completely different level compared to where they were with Fuji.
      I'm planning to publish a more detailed video about the A7iv screen, but the gist is that, for stills, it's often better to have a 3-way up/down/pop out screen (like X-H1) as opposed to fully articulating. That way, your line of sight is same as lens. The A7Rv offers the best of both worlds. It also is way brighter with more usable resolution than the A7iv. That's important for manual focus and the focus peaking is not great on the A7iv because the screen resolution is poor. In my opinion, the A7RV is absolutely worth the extra $1,400 compared to the A7iv. But if budget is tight, the A7iv will get the job done for sure. Good luck!

    • @JLStreetDoc
      @JLStreetDoc Год назад

      @@RandumbTech thanks for replying. I’ve been a pro photographer for 20 years, so I won’t let anyone say I don’t know how to use my Fuji 😂. I just think the image quality in the Sony system superior. I was looking at images on Flickr comparing the a7iv and the Xh2s and unless everyone posting Fuji shots are amateur and everyone posting Sony is a pro, there is a clear winner.
      My current camera’s screen doesn’t move at all, and for photos I prefer the viewfinder anyway, and for those low angle moments the flip out screen will be fine. I would rather have that full articulation for videos for my RUclips channel anyway.
      As far as the a7r, I personally think that is too much resolution where the 33 megapixels is just about as perfect as you can get. Looking for more of a hybrid anyway. My only drawback is that I live the aesthetics of my Xpro2 and my small lens, as well as the whole starting over. But I’m just not happy with the results, and at the end of the day that’s what is most important.

    People always comment about the size of the lenses when switching. But that's because, in all practicality, you're not comparing like for like. Because of the differences in sensor size, an F2 Fuji lens behaves more like an F4 on the Sony (DOF, not light gathering, which I'll mention later). So, of course, a 1.4 on Sony will be bigger than a 1.4 from Fuji.
    Compare the Fuji 56 1.2 (398.25g) to Sony 85 1.8 (371g)
    Fuji 16-55 2.8 (655 g) to Sony 24-70 F4 (426 g).
    Go for the equivalent DOF you were getting with the Fuji (you can raise ISO more on Sony, so the light gathering of lower F stop on Fuji is a moot point), and the lenses are actually smaller/cheaper on the Sony system. But you have the choice to go bigger to get more light capturing and even shallower DOF. You can have a walkaround kit that's just as light and unobtrusive if you go like for like DOF.

My big FF camera is the A7R3 with a sensor with nearly double the pixels and that does make a difference, a huge difference. Cropping is easier, you still get excellent quality photo for those shots where you can't get close to the subject.

I do love shooting with the x100V but 98 percent of those images are just not as good as any of my Sony cameras with almost any lenses. 35mm 1.8, Loxia 35mm f2, Rokinon 35mm 1.8, GM 35mm 1.4, Voigtlander 35 or 40mm even the 40mm 2.5 just blows away every Fuji image I have taken.
