The nice thing about earthen structures is how consistently thermoregulated they are. In winter a little heat goes a long way and in summer or hot weather it's pleasantly cool. It's very impressive how much energy you put into these builds using all natural materials. Your dog makes the build the cherry on top.

Brilliant build, as always. You are made of tough stuff, Mr! I hope your leg has healed. Not sure what you take with you in regards to First Aid kit but a Yarrow tincture(stops bleeding) and a Comfrey salve(bruising/broken bones) might come in handy. Oh and an Arnica salve for aches and pains. Not sure where you are in the world but I am sure there are medicinal plants all around you anyway. Those raw onions you eat are good medicine too 😊

What I always want to know is....
How do you prevent a subterranean shelter like this from filling with water in the winter when it rains for weeks ?

that depends where its built, but since this is built up hill, water flow can still go down from it since the floor and entrance are all level
the ones that are dug below the ground however are more likely to flood, but this is more of a temporary art style for most who do these things

Amazing project...but I´d like to know how that structure reacts to a heavy rain weekend...I tend to think that the floor would turn into a pool too easily. It´s the biggest CON I find to take advantage of the terrain profiles. Water always find the way if you don´t give her an alternative path.

Same. Love the videos but I can't get it out of my head that a little bit of rain would douse your fire and you. There has to be something that we are missing that makes this waterproof.

Few years ago (like 15) our town had many of similar looking shelters but bit bigger it could fit 2 people with makeshift beds for hunters and anglers so they can have a place to stay. They even encourage people to build them to a point that they would give you materials to build them. But then people from towns started to move in saying how hunting and fishing is bad and they started destroying them and people stopped building them.

Nice. I have 2 questions: What is your water supply? Is there a creek nearby? And, with the fireplace in the shelter, how do you prevent a spark from igniting all those dry leaves on the roof? Or did you pack earth over them?
