Here is a woman that sang rock, country, light opera and now big band from the 40's. What a fantastic talent. I have a completely new love and appreciation for this fantastic talent.
How can anyone watch this and NOT completely and utterly FALL IN LOVE with this incredibly talented, gorgeous singer. Ladies and Gentlemen the INCOMPARABLE ... LINDA RONSTADT !
Never ever imagined a one time rocker would go on to sing these American Songbook Standards with an orchestra. And these are the best renditions there are. Classic. Like this. So beautiful................. the clarity, articulation, musical expression, etc Love it.
Nelson Riddle did her arrangements just like Sinatra's. She picked him for that reason. She could not only sing but see understood music like few in the business.
The clearest voice on the planet. Linda was an original. For those that traveled with her from Rock to this - no one could touch her vocally or visually.
I barely know why but her voice and the music always takes me back to when I was a kid sitting in my grandmothers living room while my grandfather played old jazz singers like Peggy Lee and Ella in the background.. What a great memory.. and she brings that back..
In this video we can see how much she's progressed since her Stone Poneys/ folk rock phase. She *performs*--that is, acts. Her shy flirtatious act is wonderful and adds to the song. Her voice here is sooooo smooth.
I am Linda bingeing right now and never found any video where she did not sing flawlessly. She is absolute perfection. Pronunciation, tone, voice timbre and everything else is gorgeous.
I saw this performance on The Tonight Show. She wore this fantastic dress and the audience were overwhelmed by her interpretation. Love you, LInda. You make my day.
Though Linda is ten years older than me, from the time I first saw her I had a crush on her due to that beautiful voice and those midnight eyes! Thanks for sharing this!
OMG, I was just 5 yrs old and fell head over heels in love with Linda. I still to this very day love her just as she is today. As long as I live and can operate a device that plays her music and videos, I will always have a crush on her.
So glad she recorded these nelson riddle songs EARLY IN HER CAREER against many advising her it would be a mistake! now many rock n roll singers are copying her at LATER AGES. Since her going public with her LATER LIFE ILLNESS when she cannot sing like before, many souls, and hopefully LINDA R. herself, ARE SO GRATEFUL SHE DID THIS WHEN SHE HAD THAT GUT FEELING TO DO SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Listen to these Linda pieces. No slurs, no doh dahs, rap, atonal baloney. Just loving lines with a real singer. Lord we miss singers and bands like this.
The trio of albums Rondstat did with Nelson Riddle (this is from the first), are some of the best music she's ever done, and went a long way attenuating my anger that she'd ever touched "Heat Wave." I'm not sure how many of the songs got performance videos like this, but "What'll I Do" is fantastic and so is "Skylark." Really terrific work.
LINDA RONSTADT is a beautiful woman and a wonderful singer. She was one of the main reasons I loved the music of the 70's. Who knew that she could sing a classic ballad from the 30's so well.
I was able to see Linda perform at the Universal Amphitheater in the early 80's. 2nd row. I was able to look right up at her. Absolutely beautiful voice.
She is the greatest that female singer that ever lived. My simple logic is that she has proven she can do anything anyone has ever done. Can any other singer cross as many genres and do as much as her? The answer is no
Her voice is so beautiful, it's so perfect, not too strong and certainly not weak, but it's smooth and warm like the best brandy sliding down your throat.
Ms. Ronstadt's first appearance on national tv was the Johnny Cash Show. She sang a duet with him. She appeared on Glenn Campbell's show. When Glenn was dying, he was asked about his greatest experience singing, and he said it was singing a duet with Linda Ronstadt. In 1974 she won the award as Best New Female Artist from the Academy of Country Music. In 1976, Ms. Ronstadt' received the Grammy for Best Country Vocal Performance - Female. In 1988, she received another Grammy for Trio, the country album that she made with Dolly and Emmylou, and in 2000 won a second country Grammy with those two stars. Just on the country charts, she sold more records than most of the people in the Country Music Hall of Fame. Why isn't Ms. Ronstadt in the CMHOF?
How glad the many millions Of Toms and Dicks and Williams Would be To capture me But you had such persistence You wore down my resistance I fell And it was swell You're my big and brave and handsome Romeo How I won you I will never never know It's not that you're attractive But oh my heart grew active When you came into view I've got a crush on you, sweetie pie All the day and nighttime, hear me sigh I never had the least notion That I could fall with so much emotion Could you coo Could you care For a cunning cottage we could share The world will pardon my mush Cause I've got a crush, my baby, on you Could you coo Could you care For a cunning cottage we could share The world will pardon my mush Cause I have got a crush, My baby, on you
Very VERY Sad Bach ! I had the Great pleasure of seeing Linda live once ...I think it was in 82" I was hoping to see her again but that will never be seen and heard again :( Linda grabbed a hold of me with her voice and her looks ! I fell for Both very hard ! Simply Amazing !
I’m loving seeing comments from the older generations. A nice vacation from the usual crowd. Don’t know how I can miss a time during which I wasn’t alive, but I do. I’ll take early-to-mid-1900’s over 2000-anything, any day of the week.
I was fortunate to see her live with Nelson Riddle at the Universal Amphitheater. She is the best. Nice to see Rex her costar in Pirates of Penzance in a navy uniform in this video
Parkinsons is a hideous disease. The Boomer Generation thought that we would have cures for all such diseases by now, but some diseases are evil and complex almost beyond human understanding. My husband has also lost his voice to Parkinsons and he was a great amateur singer.
I just read that as well, hence my coming here to listen to her beautiful voice. I have always loved Linda's voice, and am honored many have told me I bear a striking resemblance to her during the 80's. :)
One of the many incarnations this talented woman did throughout her remarkable career... Think about it there will never be anyone like her. God the Creator truly broke the mold after Linda😘
The Bewitched theme at the end was interstitial music before a commercial. This was recorded off of the Goodnight L.A. videos program from KABC Los Angeles in 1983.
Here is a woman that sang rock, country, light opera and now big band from the 40's. What a fantastic talent. I have a completely new love and appreciation for this fantastic talent.
What a genius Ira Gershwin was, words moulded to the music so distinctively, an absolute gift to all singers
How can anyone watch this and NOT completely and utterly FALL IN LOVE with this incredibly talented, gorgeous singer.
Ladies and Gentlemen the INCOMPARABLE ... LINDA RONSTADT !
Beautiful song, and Beautiful singer, Linda Ronstadt!!!
You said it I love this song and video it’s beautiful 😍😍

The clearest voice on the planet. Linda was an original. For those that traveled with her from Rock to this - no one could touch her vocally or visually.
The only other female pop vocalist who matches her ability is Karen Carpenter.
@@debmajors5510 oh please Carpenter was sour sounding - couldn't carry Ronstadt's hairbrush.
Barney, you obviously don't know what you're even talking about...and you probably sing like Barney Fife.
Let’s not forget Barbra Streisand! Magnificent, clear singer!
@@debmajors5510 Streisand.
Never heard a voice like this, and sadly may never hear one of the caliber again. Linda you will always be my favorite singer.
you should listen to: Laura Branigan - All Night with Me (1982) 🌹
I barely know why but her voice and the music always takes me back to when I was a kid sitting in my grandmothers living room while my grandfather played old jazz singers like Peggy Lee and Ella in the background.. What a great memory.. and she brings that back..
Very special, very real. No one else can touch her warmth vocally. Gorgeous singing, gorgeous gal.
Beautiful voice. But do listen to Ella's version. There is no more perfect voice.
@Jarred KnoxCarpenter was a grotesque sour nasty cornball. Nothing warm about her. Not in Linda's league.
I loved Karen Carpenter, but she didn't come close to Linda's range.
wow .. can't say I've heard ANYONE sing Gershwin like Linda ... what a voice

Thank you I bought this dress for Linda.
@@openheartspace4658 oh really
I love her rendition of this great old song! She has a great voice, very talented.

The greatest, most diverse female vocalist of her generation.❤
One of my favorite covers Linda did with Nelson Riddle.....perfection 💜💜💜💜
Her Royal Highness! The Queen of Song. The Beautiful Miss Linda Ronstadt.
I love the fluidity of the way she sings each word and makes it come alive and dance inside your mind!
perfectly beautiful ❣️
you should listen to: Laura Branigan - All Night with Me (1982) 🌹
What a voice with superb diction! Perfect interpretation of this classic.
So glad she recorded these nelson riddle songs EARLY IN HER CAREER against many advising her it would be a mistake! now many rock n roll singers are copying her at LATER AGES. Well said :)
Love you, Linda---thanks for all the gorgeous recordings---your voice will shine forever, as will your beautiful spirit!!
30 years ago I would sing this to my son as an infant when I woke up in the middle of the night to feed him. Love this song.
Her voice is as perfect as any finely tuned instrument❤️
Just beautifully arranged. Amazing 😁❤️
Amazing! Great Nelson Riddle arrangement too
Listen to these Linda pieces. No slurs, no doh dahs, rap, atonal baloney. Just loving lines with a real singer. Lord we miss singers and bands like this.

Agree and in English and Spanish
She can sing anything she does in English in Spanish
She can sing anything in both languages
@@shaunaspellman253 you are so right. And at the highest level to boot
Her voice is so beautiful, it's so perfect, not too strong and certainly not weak, but it's smooth and warm like the best brandy sliding down your throat.
The combination of Linda and Nelson Riddle, along with these great songwriters, was absolutely perfect.
Isn't this a Gershwin song? They were among the best songwriters. And I agree that Linda and Nelson Riddle's rendition is perfect!
No one sings like Linda. Always in awe of her talent
Extraordinary talent... Ms. Ronstadt is simply the Worlds most accomplished Vocalist!
I love your voice, always have. Beautiful Linda❤
you should listen to: Laura Branigan - All Night with Me (1982) 🌹
I've had a crush on Linda for over 50 years! Such a sweet voice!
what a beautiful rendition of this song :)
Wouldn’t it be beautiful to be dancing with Linda while she was singing to you x
Lovely lady who cannot be replaced...
SO GLAD SHE RECORDED THIS WHILE SHE WAS YOUNG AND IN EXCELLENT VOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought only Ella had this song truely mastered but boy this version is right alongside. A wonderful voice.
I have this on VCR, somewhere. Taped it from PBS back in the '80's. Oh my, what a voice. I loved this. At least I still have the CD.
Flawless...and so is the song
If Linda had sung this to me in my teens I would have been the mush they would've had to pardon! Vocal and visual beauty on a singular level.
Well said, I couldn't agree more!
I knew many guys, men, who felt that way about her too. And, she was a girl's girl too. The best.
amazing ...... her voice is very soothing and relaxing to hear
Looong long time ago but I like this song...especially this version

Wow, Nelson Riddle really knows how to make an arrangement and Linda really knows how to sing it.
How glad the many millions
Of Toms and Dicks and Williams
Would be
To capture me
But you had such persistence
You wore down my resistance
I fell
And it was swell
You're my big and brave and handsome Romeo
How I won you I will never never know
It's not that you're attractive
But oh my heart grew active
When you came into view
I've got a crush on you, sweetie pie
All the day and nighttime, hear me sigh
I never had the least notion
That I could fall with so much emotion
Could you coo
Could you care
For a cunning cottage we could share
The world will pardon my mush
Cause I've got a crush, my baby, on you
Could you coo
Could you care
For a cunning cottage we could share
The world will pardon my mush
Cause I have got a crush,
My baby, on you
Such a versatile vocalist.
These are some of the best recordings of Linda ever did but the real star of those albums was Nelson Riddle
Right. Rme. She could make a jug band sound good.
Linda Ronstadt's voice is like a Honzo sword. You have to compare it with every other voice that has been and will ever be.
flor wast At least 12 people have seen Kill Bill (1/15/18 - after watching 16 C)
Henry Jackson lmao rotf.
Haha, I agree, she's very sharp and clear, hurts so good

Linda Ronstadt had a set of pipes like no one else, just magic!!
I recall this video being played on MTV heavily in the mid 1980s. As for the performance, phenomenal
Hands down my favorite female singer ever!!!!!! I will Always Love You Linda !!!!!!!
Steve G She was great. Sadly PD has robbed her of her voice.

I'm at the Savoy Club 1943, with my lady and I'm in my USAAF uniform getting ready to ship out to Ramatelli, Italy. We dance to this.

The Gershwin’s, Nelson Riddle, and Linda Ronstadt‘s blue chip magic. 🪄✨🌟💎
The best American singer in the 70's..
The best American singer so far
She, Karen Carpenter and Streisand

My eyes, my mind, and now my heart can’t get enough of you Linda.
Hearing her voice brings a smile to my ears.......
Such a beautiful and sexy voice only to be silenced so early, thank God we still have her and all those wonderful recordings...
Parkinsons is a hideous disease. The Boomer Generation thought that we would have cures for all such diseases by now, but some diseases are evil and complex almost beyond human understanding. My husband has also lost his voice to Parkinsons and he was a great amateur singer.
She sings this song perfectly !
Today's singers would make it about them, not the song !
Unfortunately too many singers don't understand this.
What a sweet and beautiful voice!
Just her sweet charming voice will make your fall in love..😘😘😘😘🌹🌹🌹
Linda. CRYSTAL clear persuasion. Any damn thing she felt like wrapping that voice around sounds superb. Sigh...
Such a beautiful voice she had. this is one of most favorites!
Enchanting chick. Great singer - warmth.
