The next trilogy they do(since one is already confirmed) should be about the Old Republic. The only problem is that they are giving Ryan Johnson the new trilogy. He did a terrible job with the Last Jedi.
+Enoch “Hybrid” Benton Hey, there are colleges that teach Tolkien Elvish language courses, I don't see why someone couldn't make a Star Wars history class.
I wish they had recorded the story of Meetra Surik, the Jedi Exile. I know her deeds have nothing to do with the Sith Empire, but she basically saved the Force from being erased.
They don’t call them the dark wars for nothing, the Jedi were nearly extinct at this point, and the exile ventured off into the unknown regions. The republic was largely uninvolved in the Dark Wars, the Sith Triumvirate was destroyed, and they were fought largely in secret. There simply wasn’t anyone to chronicle the events, and as such they have largely been lost to history in the Star Wars Galaxy.
This was really engaging, The voice work, the story plot & conflicts, the twists, the characters and even the realism. Introducing realistic war strategies and creating a gray space between the Sith and Jedi so that neither was viewed in a biased fashion. Music fit beautifully and the stories were so powerful. Artwork as amazing too. This story was told in such an epic fashion. This should really be made into a T.V series, it'd be amazing if done right by the right people.
+Jack Murphy There was pretty much only one thing that happened before the Great Hyperspace War that would have led to the events of SWTOR: The Great Jedi Schism, in which a dozen Jedi discovered the Dark Side of the Force and were exiled to Korriban (or Moraband as it has sometimes been called). There the fallen Jedi enslaved the red-skinned Sith populace of the planet, declared themselves the first Sith Lords, and set to work plotting their vengeance. At the same time, Vitiate, the being who would become the original Sith Emperor, also discovered the Dark Side and after enacting a Sith alchemy ritual, wiped his homeworld clean of the Force and took it for himself. The Sith Emperor's entire master endgame for the next three thousand years was to enact the ritual again, but this time, across the entire galaxy. He would, in the end, be cast down by the Jedi known to history as "The Hero of Tython". Though the Sith Emperor survived, his power was all but gone and his Empire was shattered. For the next two thousand years, the Sith attempted to pick up the pieces of their once-mighty past and defeat the Republic for good, but the lack of the Sith Emperor's rigid and orderly leadership and the power-hungry nature of the Sith undermined their efforts until it all came to a head with the total destruction of the Sith Empire and the Ruusan Reformation, which brought a seemingly endless conflict to a conclusion. Of the entire Order of the Dark Lords of the Sith, only one had managed to crawl out of sight of the newly reformed Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order, both now stronger than ever. That one Sith Lord's name was Darth Bane. Realizing that it was the Sith themselves that caused the end of their Empire, he declared, with his newly-named apprentice Darth Zannah as his witness, that from that point forth, there could only be two Sith, a master and an apprentice, as so to minimize the greed that plagued their predecessors. He and Zannah then went into hiding to patiently wait for an opportunity to present itself that the Sith could capitalize on and finally destroy the Republic. In the meantime, they would continue the Sith lineage of masters and apprentices so that, even if took a thousand years, the Sith would be around to take the long-awaited opportunity to defeat the Republic at last. The rest, as they say, is history.
He can't because canonically, Gnost Dural recorded these right before the Eternal Empire emerged. As we know due to Jedi Under Siege, he went into hiding on Ossus along with a large detachment of Jedi, creating a small colony as a sort of safe haven from Arcann and the war with the Outlander and all that.
I've seen this at least 2 dozen times over the last 10 years. These 12 records are individually better than the entire sequel trilogy. And Lance Henriksen is awesome as the voice of Gnost Dural!
This will always be canon, idc what they say. Why erase the expanded universe of star wars? That's one of the reasons why it's so interesting, plus new movie ideas!
+Draven Flores of course it is. Star Wars died in 2013. Just go along with it and enjoy everything immensly awesome that came out between 1977 and 2013. RIP Star Wars.
Orochi2345678 You should check out "The Journal of Master Gnost-Dural". It's a book dealing with some of the topics that would have been present in the last 7 videos.
So my son was watching this before bed and I ended up truly engrossed. Hell I even forgot about the dinner sitting beside me, the fact that I smoke and that I do in fact require trips to the bathroom. Sad to see that it ends at this I can't seem to find any continuation.
Funny enough ive been listening to this while doing office work at home. Im not sure of its the story or the narrator which is really intersting to listen to
The Old Republic line of EU content should be considered canon. The writers did alot to provide visible links to the canon of the movies, and the history of the galaxy and republic are thousands of years old, even according to the movies. I also remember from episode 1, a jedi master says "the sith have been extinct for over a millenium" Which means 1. Sith were around and a major threat until they werent 2. That was over a thousand years before the episode 1 plot and 3.They even speak of a conflict between the sith and jedi in ancient times. Come on guys, make this canon officially..
im proud to say I know more than average about star wars lore from 25000 years before the Battle of Yavin 4 to 200 after it. like this comment if you love star wars lore!!!!
As far as I'm concerned this is level 2 canon at this point, unless actually retcons this is still history to the current. To be fair alot of the post RotJ content was kinda trash save for Zahn's work, but even his work was retconed by the prequels.
George Lucas was also planning on erasing the EU in his planned sequel trilogy. You're blaming Disney for something that was inevitably going to happen.
spartanMN300 Comics and books aren't canon, someone had forgotten to say to George that no all the comics and books follow the movies canon, some take some artistic license like making the Storm Troopers competent, making a character more brave that he was, make a characters do more things that he ever do in the movies (an example Boba Fett), erase all the idiocy of the Original Star Wars, making the Original Star Wars fans that love more the Expanded Universe more than the movies themselves put the Original Star Wars in a pedestal, not really knowing how are the movies in reality.
+The HoloNet Which seems silly cos of how many want these to continue. Just if a handful of people are not grateful doesn't mean the rest of us are. These things are great, they should have kept making them.
Bruhh, this shits on Episode VII. i played KOTOR 1 and 2 & im heavily involved (playing wise) with the current MMO SWTOR. these stories would be so much better than what we got for episode VII. dont get me wrong i loved the movie, but im just a bigger fan of the old republic stories than the new republic ones.
Because they're doing what blizzard is doing, writing the story then almost immediately doing a movie or cartoons or some shit. Yeah they have older games for stuff pre WOW which are quite good there's still a lot they haven't got in game. It's understandable that blizzard doesn't create content before the mmo started for current since it would affect a massive game. Disney just needs to hiatus current time and pull it back and give us a decent backstory to everything starting with all these events around the eternal empire/old Republic/sith empire stuff
Uhh.. what? Writing a story then immediately making a movie? Isn't the warcraft movie coming out following the story of the original Warcraft games that came out in the 90's? I don't understand your comparison to Blizzard here.
This was so excellently well done! It covered so much. I know this was made to promote the MMO, but I think it would be great if they made another one of these and showed how all of that (literally) ancient SW history culminated in the reformation of the Jedi Order, Grand Admiral Thrawn, the New Republic, etc. Great stories that every SW fan should know about man!
I can't believe I'd sit here for almost an hour learning about a fictional universe's history, yet I can't listen to 5 minutes of a lesson on the actual history of our planet...
That's because the "victors are always the authors of history." America has no idea about their own history and the emperor wants to keep it that way. www.scribd.com/document/352908583/End-Torture-Now
Maybe cuz you lived this in a distant past life...Ever Think about why we like what we like naturally, and being drawn to fantasy, or science so called fiction? Such as these stories.. there might be a bit more truth to them. IF one can imagine it.... it exists someplace.. Make the idea of creating anything you want more plausible.. At least to me. Yes these are great stories to listen to.
It is our job to learn the real truth...re educate those believing the liberal lies...you be amazed at what you learn by just listening and watching everyday activity in your world
Can’t count how many times I’ve watched this since I first watched it back in the summer of 2012. Still after repeated viewings it’s amazing now than it was when I first watched it. Literally better than the new Disney Star Wars movies. Just had to see this again after watching the travesty that was The Last Jedi. Really aggravated me why Disney don’t have The Old Republic as cannon. It’s amazing in every way and so much lore and stories. 🙌🏼
I don't care what Disney says. The Old Republic era is still canon since there's no replacement for the Old Republic franchise. I remember when I found this video at 12 years old. Today, I'm 19 and still a Star Wars fan!
***** You need to stop everything you're doing, go out and get the Mass Effect trilogy, and play it. If you like Star Wars or anything sci-fi, then you will absolutely love it.
fullmetalfunk I would...except that it's a shooter. So I merely sat down and did what I do with all games I want the story for...but don't think I can play/or would enjoy their game play... I watched hours of cutscene movies to get the story lines.
"Neither pride nor foolhardiness drove the defenders decisions. They were guided by the force. They had passed beyond they fear of death." This had got to me the most badass quote in the Star War Universe.
some1 need to make a film about the battle to bothwai when 84 jedi perish with 4000 republic forces that doesn't strike me as a small part of republic history
The biggest strength and weakness of the legend's lore is that it evolved very organically. There was some level of oversight from Lucasarts to prevent truly lore breaking things from happening but writers were mostly given a lot of freedom. It wasn't really made with a goal or a single vision in mind and more so just writers building on each other's work.
Oddly enough, the Force Wars on Tython started all of this. During the time in Before the Old Republic Era, the Rakata had long established their Infinite Empire after bein' shown how to use the Force by the benevolent Kwa of Dathomir, they also gave the primitive war-like species advanced technology to boot. The Rakata however grew envious of their benefactors Infinity Gates and asked to be given the tech to expand their growing empire. When refused they waged war and nearly killed off the Kwa. Soon after they expanded and established their empire spanning the known Galaxy, through the Dark Side of the Force. Meanwhile however the order of the Dai Bendu monks from almost all around the galaxy were called by Tho Yor semi-sentient craft and many were brought to Tython. They establish the earliest Force-based organization of the Light Side or rather, the Harmonious Center, the Je'daii Order. Je'daii, a Dai Bendu word meaning 'mystic center' so they strove for balance in the Force. A Rakata ship blew up in low Tython orbit and one of their Force Hounds, Force-sensitive warrior-slaves brought a dark storm to the planet. In time, some of the Je'daii began to follow the Bogan or Dark side while others sought for balance with the Bogan and Ashla or Light side. The Force Wars on Tython raged and where the Followers of the Light and Dark sides of the Force crossed blades for the first time. Of course, another significant Dark side power arose. It's not hard to imagine that on Korriban, homeworld of the Sith species or the Red Sith the Rakata sought to conquer and enslave them. However their plans were thwarted when the first ruler of the Sith rose to power, Sith King or Sith'ari (overlord) Adas. Adas united the Sith clans and after having learned some valuable secrets from the Rakata pushed the invaders from the Sith's homeworld, pulsating with the Dark side as it did. Everything else that happened? That would all fall into place, in time.
***** Hmmmm. Not yet. I need to get that together but I'll try tonight. Taking apart my old bed and putting up my new one today so I'll be busy and tired later. ^^;;
***** That would be Jennifer Hale. She also voices Satele Shan, and in some older, but no less well-known titles, Bastila Shan, and female Jaden Korr. Also also, she voices Aayla Secura in The Clone Wars. Bam. Knowledge.
we need more old republic loreee, there's an empty 2000+ years between Vitiate's empire and the brotherhood of darkness where they could add more stories.
Actually it's only 1000 years because +/- we know what happened during new sith wars . Rise of Darth Ruin , than Dark underlord , than dark lord Belia Darzu than Darth Rivan, somewhere between there was Vilia Calimondra a god mother of star wars .etc
Mainly, it's not about good and evil to the Jedi and Sith. The Jedi preach "no emotion". A Jedi can't be angry, or sad, or happy. And they have to swear to celibacy. They're like the Night' Watch. The Sith see this as stupid, which is kinda true. A lot of Jedi become Sith simply because they weren't allowed to fall in love, get married or have children. The leader of the Jedi order, Sateal Shan, abandoned her own son, but still the act of having a child could make her more Sith than Jedi. In contrast, her opposite - Darth Malgus - is not as cruel as you might think. He's a very open and forgiving man. A Sith who'll laugh with you if you insult him rather than kill you. He fights along side his soldiers, treats his enemies with respect (even Sateal) and treats aliens as equals and preaches for their civil rights. He even took a alien slave, released her, and took her as his wife (you see them fight together in the "Deceived Trailer"). He doesn't get involved in politics often and doesn't care about gaining power for himself, only the protection and prosperity of the Empire's people. He's a good man even several Jedi can respect and be on peaceful terms with. He is just unwilling to give up his emotions - his joy, his love, his hate - and believes people should be free to feel the way they want.
jeramahia123 Yes, a very kind and open man. He did lead an entire army to slaughter a bunch of jedi and numerous other deeds, but at least he wont kill you if you make fun of him and he released an alien from captivity. Very generous man indeed, the Sith truly aren't bad.............
Imperial Trooper Haha, the sith empire being the Catholic Church? :-P ... Whoops, did I really say that in public? Tsk tsk.. I better go back to the Jedi temple and stfu until a later time.... ;-)
OfficialJustinWatson Republic = Roman Republic. Imperial Republic (Empire) = Imperial Rome (Roman Empire). Many other comparisons, the CIS being Carthage, and Republic being Rome. Hell you could compare the Sith Empire to MANY MANY civilizations as well as the Republic, MAndalorians too.
Probably won't happen, it's so sad when you realise some of the best star wars content is from Bioware's SWverse. And most will probably never know it.
Mister E No, I'm against having a Mary Sue. I'd prefer Ashoka as the protagonist, but I'd be happy with a new Twi'lek protagonist as well, and I would prefer more female protagonists, or antagonists, or both! :)
If you read the book "Star Wars:Revan", you find out what happens between "KOTOR", "KOTOR 2", and TOR. It shows how Revan got his memory and the events that led to him going to Dromund Kas as well as how he met up with the Exile(her name was Meetra). It even shows Scourge from the Jedi knight storyline. He's a main character and it shows how they came to be in the positions they are in in the game. But I haven't heard anything about Canderous so I was wondering.
Have you heard about Mandalore the preserver? they don't refer to him as "Candorous" Instead they call him by his formal title. I know you can get the helmet of mandalore the preserver as an item.
ok thanks.and i thought it was pretty cool how he took up the mantle. at the end of KOTOR 1, when you're on the Forge world(I think its called Rakata Prime) You kill mandalorians and if you take the leader's armor and wear it, its the same one that Canderous wears when you first meet him in KOTOR 2.
Everything except the movies, both "clone wars" series, the "clone wars" movie and "rebels", which is the greatest pile of steaming bullshit that exists within star wars, is considered "non-cannon". That includes all novel series before, during and after episode I and VI, except the novelization of the movies and all games as well as comics. Disney is seriously going to fuck this up.
Michael Castro EU was never truly canon in the first place... they disregarded nothing, simply placing the EU titles into a more fitting title / Legends. If they really disregarded that material, it wouldn't still be on the shelves for us to buy and enjoy.Additionally, how can people complain about Disney when the Prequels already hit an all time low? Nothing can suck as hard as them and everything after will only look incredible by comparison. The knee-jerk reaction to Disney is entirely unwarranted, what they've done makes total sense for anyone to combine the entire Star Wars universe and hail it under a single banner. EU will be cherry picked for the best stories and character while the other random stuff will be left alone. For the first time in Star Wars franchise history, there's a solid business model behind it.
Rogue Qall “According to Lucas Licensing Editor Sue, Rostoni, ‘Canon refers to an authoritative list of books that Lucas Licensing editors consider an authentic part of the official Star Wars history. Our goal is to present a continuous and unified history of the Star Wars galaxy, insofar as that history does not conflict with, or undermine the meaning of Mr. Lucas’s Star Wars saga of films and screenplays.’ Things that Lucas Licensing does not consider official parts of the continuous Star Wars history show an Infinities logo or are contained in Star Wars Tales. Everything else is considered canon.”-Sue Rostoni, Lucas Books and Lucas Licensing Managing Editor, in Star Wars gamer #6, July 1, 2001 “Basically, everything except those items marked with an “Infinity” logo (i.e. the Star Wars Tales comics) is considered canon.”-Sue Rostoni, Lucas Books and Lucas Licensing Managing Editor, Starwars.com May 30, 2003 “‘Lucasfilm canon’” refers to anything produced by any of the Lucas companies, whether it be movies, books games or internet. “Movie canon” is only what you see and hear in the Star Wars films”- Leland Chee, Continuity Database administrator aka Keeper of the Holocron for Lucas Licensing, Starwars.com May 30, 2003 (Continuity vs canon) “Its pretty much the same-sounds better to say that we try to maintain the continuity of the universe, rather than saying the canon of the universe”- Sue Rostoni, Lucas Books and Lucas Licensing Managing Editor, on Starwars.com September 2003 “When asked if the G and C-levels formed separate and independent canon, Chee responded by stating that both were part of a single canon: ‘There is one overall continuity.’”-Leland Chee, Continuity Database administrator aka Keeper of the Holocron for Lucas Licensing, August 4, 2004 “The concept of an expanded universe certainly isn’t unique to star wars. Many popular genre properties from Star Trek to Alien, release spinoff tales that shed light on events not seen in the official narrative. But Star Wars EU is unique both in its size and its care which is in the narrative which is shepherd and organized and Star Wars the Expanded universe is official.” -Star wars insider 101 May 2008 "Continuity has been the supreme commandment at Lucasfilm for Shadows and all its Star Wars projects. The company had made the decision to not only expand its universe but have it unfold as a seamless chronicle. Whether a new star system is explored in a novel or a scene is set in ancient Jedi days from a comic series, nothing can contradict the history or logic of what has gone before. To keep it all straight there is 'The Canon', a timeline of major events and lifespan of main characters prepared by the continuity editors of Lucasfilm and considered the in-house bible of the Star Wars universe." ~ Mark Cotta Vaz, The Secrets of Shadows of the Empire 1996 “A reboot would be really, really messy. There are currently 140 odd adult novels alone not counting childrens, young adults, art books, schematics all that 140 adult novels. To just say ok we are going to wipe those out, especially since many of them are still on the books shelves or book store shelves. What are you going to do, are you going to say all of these, we are just going to stop selling them? Del Rey would not like that, Bantam would not like that. The publishing industry has taken enough of a hit these days as it is. A reboot would be immensely hard to do.”-Timothy Zahn, Author for the EU, Star Wars fan days IV October 10, 2011 “The thing about reboots is that the two arenas that reboots are successful, one is comic books universes and one is TV series. Comic books universes work largely because comic books sales are generational I mean most people read comics for a span of years from their childhood to say when they get to college. People who come to an event like this, to Star Wars fan days, are exceptions you have to remember that you are not the kind of people I am talking about. But the large audience are in fact people who read until they are college age and then stop. So a generational reboot works and a TV series reboot works because 10, 15, 20 years after the series is dead you have a new generation of viewers. Battlestar Galactica worked that way, the original series aired in 1978 and by the time the new series was done that generation was in its 40s and had fond memories that were pretty vague. But the Star Wars universe is being actively maintained by leadership and a fan base that is vitally interested in what’s going on so it would be an immense pressure not to reboot.”-Aaron Allston, Author for the EU, Star Wars fan days IV October 10, 2011“Still, Iger wanted to make sure that Lucas, who was used to controlling every aspect of Star Wars, from set design to lunchboxes, understood that Disney, not Lucasfilm, would have final say over any future movies.”-Dave Leonard, Businessweek.com editor, in Businessweek.com article March 7, 2013 “We needed to have an understanding that if we acquire the company, despite tons of collegial conversations and collaboration, at the end of the day, we have to be the ones who sign off on whatever the plans are,”-Alan Horn, Chairman of Walt Disney studios, Businessweek.com article March 7, 2013 Disney has full control of Lucasfilm, and sooner or later, they’ll stop printing “Legends” and force their “canon” onto us. Star Wars was one continuity before Disney got involved. Do you think fans are going to just sit back and just tolerate it?
Bane was just after wasn't he? So it would be cool for them to show Revan making the Holocron teachings, then Bane learning from them so we can see his rise to power?!
This is the greatest voice and star wars stories ever put on video. The sequels can suck it compared to any single one of these stories they had struggled character and depth. Rey was just naturally better at birth without any training at all. Good morals to teach kids Disney
To hell with Disney,Kennedy,Abrams and Rian Johnson and them hacks... THIS is the true Star Wars cannon and always will be. They cannot bury it since it is 1000 times better than abominations like TFA,TLJ and TRoS
DAMN RIGHT!! I’ve never seen the disney ABOMINATIONS. I’ve watched clips, but ONLY if it was clips of the GOOD characters; Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, Palpatine. I will NEVER see that disney shit. The ONLY SW that exists to me is the original 6, Clone Wars movie and cartoon series, the old canon books and games, and Rebels (but barely. I just loved seeing Ahsoka and Rex again). I give disney credit for The Mandalorian, as it’s fucking awesome. I LOVE season 7 and Bad Batch series from Clone Wars. Have you see Shards Of The Past, the fan film by Star Wars Theory? OMFG!!!! It is THE BEST SW thing to come out since Lucas sold SW. As far as I’m concerned, it’s canon. Hard to believe 16 minutes of fan film is GREATER than the 3 ABOMINATIONS and billions of dollars spent by disney.
Something I really like about SWTOR is the push and pull of the conflict. The Sith are able to do a lot of damage to the Republic, but the latter's dogged tenacity and the former's internal strife means that the conflict is never a certain thing. It's really just a bitter war and I think it's really summed up by how Dural describes the invasion of Coruscant as a risky gambit that was done because so many of their other plans failed.
I would watch that if the entire human and event history of the Earth, divided by sections, such as the Roman Empire or World War II. And exactly like this. And voiced by the many great voice actors, like Lance Henriksen or Ron Perlman. This could be the breaking deal for historians. The real deal, the ultimate history documentary for class!
@@giovannyalpizar5351 You should look into some of Ken Burn's documentaries if you're interested in American history.. His documentaries of the Civil War and Prohibition are particularly good.
It's really sad that Disney decided to shelf this part of the Star Wars mythos. I won't lie; this era of Star Wars is by far my favorite, along with KOTOR. To be fair, I'm biased because KOTOR got me into the EU. I loved its story, characters, and themes. I daresay it surpasses the OT and the PT. In my view, KOTOR should have been the prequels. Because of how far removed it was(and Bioware being talented), this time, period enabled such much creativity, while also keeping with the tropes of Star Wars. And while I understand Kathleen Kennedy's rationale(I trust her), it baffles me she removed this time period. If anything, this could have been the new trilogy. Though, I can see an argument for this being too similar to the PT. Even then, I argue that unlike the PT, KOTOR's world was diverse enough that LucasFilm could not only expand the brand in the immediate present but a prolonged future. For instance, imagine we got a trilogy, inspired by the first KOTOR. If there are aspects people loved about KOTOR, side characters like a Mandalorian, like Canderous; we could have a spin-off anthology film about the Mandalorian war. This time, period literally could have kept so many stories rolling. However, I guess I do understand that LucasFilm needs to appeal to the general audience(I'm excluding OT purists as most of them act really stupidly) and use nostalgia as a means to capture the crowd. So in that retrospect, I can see why they did TFA. But I do hope after this trilogy, LucasFilm tries to do something with KOTOR. I honestly think they are undervaluing a fantastic bit of Star Wars lore. One period that has been met with near universal acclaim to even the most casual fans of Star Wars.
Heard the announcement of the high republic era in the Disney canon. It brought me back here where it all began in the EU timeline, the old republic era.
this was awesome...I'm sure devotees of star wars literature will find flaws... but myself only dealing with the video and documentary info since I saw "Empire" as a kid...while only recently looking at the extra stories ...let me enjoy the trip through the galaxy in story teller mode...took me back to '80 when I was seven...
Same here. It took a true hero of the Jedi to even challenge them. Revans actions at malachor affected the mandolorians for thousands of years, until the death of jango felt.
I think the Old Republic game did a great job in highlighting the difference in power and politics between a Republic and an Empire. While an Empire can be less stable and much easier to dismantle then a Republic it can act more swiftly and issue orders more effectively when the power structure is stable. This is because in a democratic system decisions are taken based on a majority vote and if people don't make up their minds fast enough then that will result in a lot of missed opportunities, not to mention since the parties of a republic are not obligated to obey or partake in the council's motion. In an Empire, there is one leader and one governing body and all other members are forced to obey orders of superiors under martial law so because of this they can act more swiftly and efficiently since there is not much room to debate or argue when the Emperor and his council issues the orders.
But it also shows the problems with keeping the Empire functioning. The Emperor basically abandoned them and became completely absent, so the Dark Council took over. But all the Dark Council roles overlapped with each other and there was constant infighting. It was basically a revolving door of sith. Everyone from the Empire ended up being more focused on undermining and replacing their superior to gain power rather than actually improving the Empire or fighting the Republic. It's interesting how the timeline of SWTOR unfolded. At first the Empire came back as a united force, completely focused on destroying the Republic, and during that time they were incredibly effective. Then came the Treaty of Coruscant, and the second the Empire and the Sith got a chance to breathe, they all turned on each other. So when the war started again, the Republic started to dominate them.
I truly have to agree with everyone I mean seriously Disney? What the f*ck? When you bought out Star Wars you were sitting on a god damn gold mine of content! You would've been set for 3 full new trilogies of all the expansion content if not more than that! You could've more than made a fortune off that content! And I would pay to see all made into TV series and or movies!
They are slowly bringning some of this stuff in, certain ships and characters from the EU have been pulled into the new cannon e.g. Hamerhead Republic Cruisers, Bane is Cannon, Revan was planned to be put in the Clone Wars so they've virtually addimtted its cannon , as far as im concerned as the Old Republic isnt conflicting with the main cannon so i kinda count it. I dont miss the old post ep6 EU, i never got into it really aside from Thrawn. And anyway canon is only what they say happened and that these are legends of the SW universe and anyways it doesnt make them anyless interesting stories.
Cornelius Funkmaster Contradictions are extremly rare, thanks to levels of canonicity. All "EU is full of contradictions" is a myth spread mainly by EU haters
I'm new to SW. All I knew were the movies and left with too many damn questions. Even a little research on some sith lords only helped so much. This cleared up a lot.
I can't believe that the Sith triumvirate that came around near the end of the jedi civil war was never mentioned, they pretty much wiped out the entire jedi order...
Well they are focusing on events that are connected to the game and the sith triumvirate aren't really that connected to the game or even the Sith Empire at least not directly. Than again neither is Exar Kun but his fall was what set the stage for the mandalorian wars and Revan and Malaks fall.

i wish that too. they never told about darth traya and the sith triumvirate.
@@proxypoker Remember in Episode 2 when Jocasta Nu said "if it's not on the archives it doesn't exist"? That's how it looks like TOR treated KOTOR 2 😞
@@Garmagic2yFhenrakh9 bioware bias why I obsidian is superior
This was really engaging, The voice work, the story plot & conflicts, the twists, the characters and even the realism. Introducing realistic war strategies and creating a gray space between the Sith and Jedi so that neither was viewed in a biased fashion. Music fit beautifully and the stories were so powerful. Artwork as amazing too. This story was told in such an epic fashion. This should really be made into a T.V series, it'd be amazing if done right by the right people.
I wish they continued these.
+Curtis Stokman thanks such detailed information.
@@furioussherman7265 I read that in Durals voice. Damn the Sith have long memories.
Far better than Rogue One, Solo, the Sequel Trilogy and Mandalorian combined!!!!
David filoni writing is pathetic
This Era is so rich with history and fascinating character’s I need more
Nice try Disney, this is still canon in my book.
Precisely I do not acknowledge rebels and it never happend. Starkiller founded the rebels. The EU is cannon

Try the MMO SWTOR
Erik Young With that Star Wars anthology thing starting, I can picture a movie with this title, Star Wars: Old Republic.
So you can have a pozzed immitation you will enjoy after loving the last Jedi and rise of skywalker, right
Make some of it canon, though I wouldn’t include all. Swtor did a lot to undermine the impact of legacy characters introduced in Kotor.

As far as I'm concerned this is level 2 canon at this point, unless actually retcons this is still history to the current. To be fair alot of the post RotJ content was kinda trash save for Zahn's work, but even his work was retconed by the prequels.

I think everything before the movies is all cannon but everything after them might not be.
spartanMN300 Comics and books aren't canon, someone had forgotten to say to George that no all the comics and books follow the movies canon, some take some artistic license like making the Storm Troopers competent, making a character more brave that he was, make a characters do more things that he ever do in the movies (an example Boba Fett), erase all the idiocy of the Original Star Wars, making the Original Star Wars fans that love more the Expanded Universe more than the movies themselves put the Original Star Wars in a pedestal, not really knowing how are the movies in reality.
@TheKeyser94 So doesn't that mean all the Star Wars comic books that I have by dark horse aren't canon??

these stories would be so much better than what we got for episode VII.
dont get me wrong i loved the movie, but im just a bigger fan of the old republic stories than the new republic ones.

Wow, this was really great! I've seen this so many times, but I never get bored. It really adds new layers to the Star Wars mythology.
we need more old republic loreee, there's an empty 2000+ years between Vitiate's empire and the brotherhood of darkness where they could add more stories.
We would have those if George Lucas didn't sold star War to Disney
He is just unwilling to give up his emotions - his joy, his love, his hate - and believes people should be free to feel the way they want.
but a sith wasn't just a sith because he wanted to love, a sith was a sith because he wanted to rule at the way of the sith/empire.
Doesn't he kill his wife because she's a weakness to him and to fuel his hate?
slimjim877 He still loved her, even in death.
ah, makes sense I suppose
jeramahia123 Yes, a very kind and open man. He did lead an entire army to slaughter a bunch of jedi and numerous other deeds, but at least he wont kill you if you make fun of him and he released an alien from captivity. Very generous man indeed, the Sith truly aren't bad.............

I know you can get the helmet of mandalore the preserver as an item.
is it wearable?
Stephen Gomez To the best of my knowledge, yes. I think it's heavy armor.
ok thanks.and i thought it was pretty cool how he took up the mantle. at the end of KOTOR 1, when you're on the Forge world(I think its called Rakata Prime) You kill mandalorians and if you take the leader's armor and wear it, its the same one that Canderous wears when you first meet him in KOTOR 2.
its speculated that canderous is mandalore in kotor 2 though there is no hard evidence.
Even though Disney has disregarded the EU I still think that they consider the old republic time line canon while after the movies it is non canon.
Nicholas Schmitt
Well isn't it rumored that the force awakens has an Old republic tie in, as in Emperor Vitiate a link to Adam Drivers Sith character?
Nicholas Schmitt I haven't heard that but it would be better than some story they made up.

"Continuity has been the supreme commandment at Lucasfilm for Shadows and all its Star Wars projects. The company had made the decision to not only expand its universe but have it unfold as a seamless chronicle. Whether a new star system is explored in a novel or a scene is set in ancient Jedi days from a comic series, nothing can contradict the history or logic of what has gone before.
To keep it all straight there is 'The Canon', a timeline of major events and lifespan of main characters prepared by the continuity editors of Lucasfilm and considered the in-house bible of the Star Wars universe." ~ Mark Cotta Vaz, The Secrets of Shadows of the Empire

“A reboot would be really, really messy. The publishing industry has
taken enough of a hit these days as it is. A reboot would be immensely hard to
do.”-Timothy Zahn, Author for the EU, Star Wars fan days IV October 10, 2011
“The thing about reboots is that the two arenas that reboots are successful, one is comic books universes and one is TV series. But the Star Wars universe is being actively maintained by leadership and a fan base that is vitally interested in what’s going on so it would be an immense pressure not to reboot.”-Aaron Allston, Author for the EU, Star Wars fan days IV October 10, 2011“Still, Iger wanted to make sure that Lucas, who was used to controlling every aspect of Star Wars, from set design to lunchboxes, understood that Disney, not Lucasfilm, would have final say over any future movies.”-Dave Leonard, Businessweek.com editor, in Businessweek.com article March 7, 2013 “We needed to have an understanding that if we acquire the company, despite tons of collegial conversations and collaboration, at the end of the day, we have to be the ones who sign off on whatever the plans are,”-Alan Horn, Chairman of Walt Disney studios, Businessweek.com article March 7, 2013
Disney has full control of Lucasfilm, and sooner or later, they’ll stop printing “Legends” and force their “canon” onto us. Star Wars was one continuity before Disney got involved. Do you think fans are going to just sit back and just tolerate it?
Exar Kun, Revan & Bane all deserve a dark and awesome movie. Instead we get Force Awekens by Disney
You are 100% right! A trilogy on the Bane books or a Revan movie would be bad ass!
Bane was just after wasn't he? So it would be cool for them to show Revan making the Holocron teachings, then Bane learning from them so we can see his rise to power?!
why would it be good if Revan was sith...?
Because he's a badass?
Dec Collier Bane was about two thousand years after Revan.
This is the greatest voice and star wars stories ever put on video. The sequels can suck it compared to any single one of these stories they had struggled character and depth. Rey was just naturally better at birth without any training at all. Good morals to teach kids Disney
Disney star wars is not real star wars David filoni is overrated
A well spoken and concise summary of the legend timeline. Thank you.
@@katkenobi6765 fuck TCW, Rebels, Mandalorian, and bad batch 😊
I don't know how many times I watched this... I'm still waiting!😭
I love the Old Republic Era, the best for me personally :)
Love Liam Neeson's voiceover work here. Just outstanding.
May I be perfectly frank? I was being a troll...lol Have a great day!
Make the god damn 13th chapter already
aaron cabral Never gonna happen. :(
This is all SOOOO good! I have watched this again and again. They need to finish it. It's all just so strikingly good.... (little tear)
Is it just me or is this video more interesting and intriguing than anything Disney has produced.
If Earth's history was recorded like, school would be a lot easier and more interesting.
It's is it's called the bible... historically and scientifically accurate

This comment is so fucking stupid I can't believe it was written...
So you will defend her decisions? Good to see her knights are still around.
15:31 probably one of the best war accounts in the entire saga. Plus, first time I hear of an army with more Jedu Knights than soldiers
This feels so deep and it makes me feel the awesomeness of star wars history.
I loved star wars the old republic history thank you so much
Gosh that battle of bothuwai though...*wipes eyes* I’ll take a movie of that
Great job. I liked the speakers voice, calmness and clarity. The music and sound effects were a nice touch
Jedi Under Siege brought me here, so cool to see Gnost Dural return!
I can't believe I've never seen this. though I just started playing the game (the mmo) ive always been a star wars lore junkie. this is very well done
As if an announcement from disney can stop the Expanded Star Wars universe from being worshipped. :)
Aye

The film we wanted but will never get
Oh no, you can bet your ass we'll get it at some point, but it will be mangled and defiled beyond all recognition. That's the Disney way.
I love the mandolorians they gave the jedi one hell of a challenge
Same here. It took a true hero of the Jedi to even challenge them. Revans actions at malachor affected the mandolorians for thousands of years, until the death of jango felt.
ཞɛ۷ąŋ ཞɛცơཞŋ hell even during the clone wars the death watch gave them a little trouble
The art, the voice, the stories.....beautiful, as a word does not quite do it justice.
Vlad the Impaler we need a movie based on the TOR. Preferably the Mandalorian wars and our introduction to Revan :)
I truly have to agree with everyone
I mean seriously Disney? What the f*ck? When you bought out Star Wars you were sitting on a god damn gold mine of content! You would've been set for 3 full new trilogies of all the expansion content if not more than that!
You could've more than made a fortune off that content! And I would pay to see all made into TV series and or movies!
All of old republic should be canon.
Compleatly agree in my opinion Disneys shit isn't canon
Umm... No. a lot of it, yes. All? Absolutely not. Some of it contradicts itself.
Cornelius Funkmaster
Contradictions are extremly rare, thanks to levels of canonicity. All "EU is full of contradictions" is a myth spread mainly by EU haters
Jordan Warwick-Tearne, isn’t Thrawn now canon?!
I'm new to SW. All I knew were the movies and left with too many damn questions. Even a little research on some sith lords only helped so much. This cleared up a lot.
I will raise my son on these stories and remind him Disney is not the real Starwars.
You have a son?? Nice man!
I agree. And will do the same with my kids
How many Star Wars movies would it take to acknowledge all of this
The artwork here is Amazing!!!!
