    ok, I am excited...I learned this on BioTechnology classes at Miramar College San Diego and it was all unclear. Now after 13years applying again for a entry lab position again (the reason is obvious) I find the answer right on (i was skipping to get the answer) .... thank you, thank you, I will be your student for life!!!

    This video was EXACTLY what I needed! Was doing a lab report for the concentration of protein and its absorbance in a spectrophotometer and just searched "linear standard curve excel" and it gave me the perfect video. I cant thank you enough!

    Hey. Thanks a lot for the description. I am facing a problem ever since I switched my computer. The absorbance values for standards that start with Zero decimal for example, 0.67 is being considered Zero and this is only happening for 250, 125, and 25 ug while the 500ug standards value is getting rounded off to 1 no matter what the value is. And they all lie down on the x axis in a straight line. What could be the issue..?
    I hope my doubt made some sense

      Hi Phani,
      In Excel, if you highlight the cells with the absorbance values. Then right-click and select 'Format cells'. Then select 'Number' in the category and the decimal places to '2'. I think this should do the trick.

    Hello, may I ask. How would you predict the concentration of the unknown by creating a standard curve when having the response ratio(area of analyte peak/peak of internal standard)and concentration of few samples from GC-MS?

      Yes this is possible. It all depends on your experiment. But, absorbance values can be greater than 1.
