This happed to me at a fire base in Iraq, we rolled in late and didn’t notice the battery right on the other side of the t barriers from our tent…..mother jammer that was a rude awakening a few hours later.

Great video. After 4 tours in the Middle East and 2 in Africa as an infantryman, you can only imagine the goofy ass crap that we would do. This video brings back so many memories and so many good times.

I was laying a shallow M-60 machine gun position with my assistant gunner. We were taking turns sleeping. Well, it started raining while it was my turn to sleep. I was sleeping really good, until I woke up and the hole was filled water!
If u can sleep through that, u the boss.

One thing I learned about War from chatting with Vets, is that over there, you're either bored, or pissed off. And I guess this video sums up how a bunch of guys fight boredom when the enemy won't be bothered to show up and piss them off.
There's definitely more boredom than excitement. Lots of terror.
When I got to Korea in 1976, the intake briefing was epic:
"Men, North Korea is 11 seconds away, by artillery flight.
You won't hear their guns, only their shells landing in our compound.
Welcome to Camp Casey!"

Me 2. Now 20 years in corporate world, co workers look at me like I'm an alien. Walking down the st, one of them says "hey, here's a homeless Marine". I take point: Where did you go to boot? Wrong. How many general orders? Wrong. Quote one general order. Wrong. I turned back to the group and say "dude has NEVER worn the Eagle, Globe and Anchor". I have met a lot of fake Marines this way.

2:07 nostalgic. Back in 2008 when I was 18 we were eating with the rugby team after the season ended and we were drunk, like really drunk...and one guy said "I can tackle that bush" and he did...but it wasn't a bush...it was a small tree...we laugh for like an hour...he didn't.

You’ll never be able to go back to the civilian world after, in the military everyone is going through the same shit and we all understand the weirdness, and sometimes craziness in each other; I think that’s why I miss it sometimes
I was in an outpost with mortar teams one time and didn’t know they were sending flares up. Just a massive explosion and I jumped out of my seat grabbed my kit and ran outside to see everyone just chilling…

I have physical proof that Marines can dent a steel ball! It's a float out of an F-18 external fuel tank, but it's a steel ball dented by my marines. 6072 can fix anything.

These videos and comments are rather tame compared the some of the darker humor that I have heard or participated it! The best way to deal with the fact you or your buddies could die at any moment is to laugh it off! Because if you don’t you end up crying. I also prefer to remember the funny moments over the tragic ones, it’s how I remember my friends who didn’t come back. I’m a USAF Security Police veteran of Desert Storm, was attached to an FOB and saw some nasty stuff. The Air Force gets a lot of crap for being wimps but the Security Forces is the closest thing the Air Force has to infantry so we still dug foxholes and machine gun emplacements, filled sandbags, burned our sh*t, and made regular patrols outside of the wire. When we went on patrols I was a Hog gunner, M60A1. I was a big boy in those days and was one of the few who could shoulder fire that beast! Now I’m old and can barely lift my grandkids up to give them a hug and a kiss! The camel scene got me going! I remember when in Saudi one of my friends tried to pet a camel, the camel ‘s handler was telling him it’s ok but the camel wasn’t in the best of moods that day! I just remember the camel rearing up and started chasing my friend with the handler trying to get the camel under control and my buddy was just screaming like a little girl the whole time while the 3 other airman were just laughing so hard we were crying! It definitely was much better than making out with your sister!

Don’t know about USAF these days but back in mine we gave grunts a run for their money! But I will say that all of our combat training was care of the US Army since the Air Force didn’t offer that kind of training.

Did a tire house in pendleton (1990s) Was team leader and threw the frag in. The shrapnel landing on the Kevlar sounded like that close air support and dirt. Since then people ask me to do bundgy jumping etc for fun. All I ask is have they ever held a live fragmentation grenade with the pin pulled in a 4 man stack knowing uts not just you but 3 other guys lives in your hand. Wouldn't give up those days for a million $. Wouldn't do them again for 10 million. Semper I.
