7 nation army cover by Haley and PMJ
Haley & PMJ are a match made in heaven. The arrangement is phenomenal, and Haley literally owns the whole performance. It is my favorite version of the song as well.
Only Haley can make someone cry over a chewing gum commercial
the best cover of creep ever
Haley's and PMJ's cover of No Doubt's "Don't Speak" is right up there with this one!
The “growls” she unleashed in this performance brought back fond memories for me of one of her most memorable performances on American Idol in 2011 when she blasted out Michael Jackson’s “Earth Song” 🔥🔥🔥
Welcome to the Haley Reinhardt rabbit hole. She is fabulous and one of my favorite singers of all time. Great reaction! Her cover of 7 nation army with PMJ is also fantastic.
Welcome to Haley's world, Her with PMJ is an absolute joy! PMJ takes modern songs and spins them back in time to the 20's through 60's. Haley is one of the best vocalists of this era and can do any genre. with PMJ "Love Fool", "Don't Speak", "Black Hole Sun", "7 Nation Army", "Habits", and her own material, including one of my favorite songs, "I Don't Know How to Love You", and "Lay it Down" among many. Loved the reaction.
My dear Lady Swift… FYI about Haley, she first made her debut on American Idol back in 2010 at the age of 17 but it didn’t end well. She came back in 2011 & did much, much better & was definitely one of the true standouts that year ☝️😎🌅. I’m very familiar with this song but NEVER saw this coming… Absolutely mesmerising ♥️🥰♥️
Haley was born 9/9/1990.
Never made it to the live show in 2010
@@JeffTokayer… I thought she was only on in 2011, but before she started her audition, she mentioned how she’d been on the previous year & had apparently “bombed out” & that Randy had suggested she come back & try again.
@@gerardroll6468 The prior season the producers had filmed Haley around Chicago and performing with her parents. When she performed before the judges,
-- Simon, Randy, Kara DioGuardi and guest judge Shania Twain--she noted they seemed to be in a bad mood. She was "crushed." She only auditioned again because someone from the show called her the Day Before the auditions and encouarged her to try again. So she was understandably wary. That's what she meant when she said, "You guys told me to come back." Presumably the folks who filmed her reached out to her. Ironically, they left her a blank slate with no background info/features during the season she was on. Haley related her Idol experience the prior season in an interview in a classroom at New Orleans university where a friend and muscian taught a class. She also observed Simon left Idol after that season to start the competing X-Factor.
@@vidpie … Wow, I absolutely didn’t know that 🫢🤚. Thanks so much for filling me in. I only took note or became aware of 2011 being he’d 2nd go when she mentioned it to Steven Tyler that “you guys told me to come back” & that she specifically referred to Randy. My apologies for not bringing awareness of her back story 🙏😁
@@gerardroll6468yeah she was 19 on her first try on Idol’s 9th season (probably because 9 is her lucky number related to her birthday, 9/9/1990. She said Idol sent a crew to film a feature on her and her family, that’s why it was devastating when Simon & Randy said no. Simon sabotaged season 9 because it was his last on idol and he was moving onto start a competitor show. Season 9 was considered one of Idol’s worse because of it.
She wasn’t going to try again for season 10, but the producers asked her to come back.
If you get the opportunity, you should see Haley live. It's magical!
you neeed to listen a few more times to get past Haiey's dominating vocals and be able to appreciate the arrangement and impeccable musicianship of every band member. When you listen that way you will be shocked at how important and perfect the trombone is. All amazing work in this. Love your reaction, exactly what I expected and how I reacted.
She absolutely owned this!! Amazing!! I love PMJ. You should watch them with Puddles Pity Party.
The "Mad World" duet by Haley and "Puddles" is one of the least likely pairings you'll ever see...but IT WORKS! The video is here: ruclips.net/video/aVevvbFNKiY/видео.html
so OK, we're in a 1950's jazz club, listening to the chanteuse perform......champagne for Haley and scotch for the band ! what an arrangement by Scott and PMJ......
She's KILLING IT!
great reaction....!! please react to Postmodern Jukebox ft Haley Reinhart - Don't Speak.... greetings from Mexico
Recommend PMJ’s All About The Bass featuring Reinhart, Morgan James, and Ariana Savalas.
Filmed and completed it in one take.
It has been reported she was actually sick with a cold or other viral infection and almost canceled, but came in and did it anyway, amazing
Haley's cover of Seven Nation Army is at least this good, maybe a little better. You should also check out Pau's (of The Warning) cover of Creep. And if you haven't seen Haley and Morgan James' duet of Dear Prudence, please check that out as well.
Haley & Morgan performed together in PMJ's restyling of "All About That Bass", and they teamed up for this very informal duet of "Dear Prudence" ( ruclips.net/video/wv_Xhzwvjyg/видео.html ) Both performances are outstanding! It's truly a shame that these are the only videos of the two of them together.
Great reaction! PMJ has a large catalog of songs to explore. They use a variety of singers and Haley is one of the best. I saw her perform live a couple years ago and she is an amazing singer. A few other PMJ songs featuring Haley are All About That Jazz, Seven Nation Army and Don't Speak.
In the "Seven Nation Army" and "Don't Speak" videos, Haley IS Jessica Rabbit! 🙂
Haley is one of the best vocalists I've ever seen. "Creep" was the best of 8 recordings from Haley's 2015 tour with Scott Bradlee's PMJ. The others are:
- "All About That Bass" ruclips.net/video/aLnZ1NQm2uk/видео.html
- "Black Hole Sun" ruclips.net/video/R6RD6mjiIZE/видео.html
- "Habits" ruclips.net/video/7hHZnvjCbVw/видео.html
- "Lovefool" ruclips.net/video/dXjZeCL0C9o/видео.html
- "Mad World" ruclips.net/video/aVevvbFNKiY/видео.html
- "Oops! I Did it Again" ruclips.net/video/g_HN50TLuaI/видео.html
- "Seven Nation Army" ruclips.net/video/sB6HY8r983c/видео.html
Then, after many years apart, Haley & PMJ teamed up again to produce a stunning cover of No Doubt's "Don't Speak" - ruclips.net/video/Txi7QuO99kM/видео.html
Haley bills herself as a lo-fi soul and specializes in iconic songs you'll remember from decades long gone by, but kids today have never heard. Here are three of my favorites from the '60s:
"The Letter" (1967) by The Boxtops - ruclips.net/video/WBwbXIL6gWw/видео.html
"Baby It's You" (1961) by The Shirelles - ruclips.net/video/9h96OXZjfCY/видео.html
"You Showed Me" (1968) by The Turtles (audio track only) - ruclips.net/video/cRADXg77d_4/видео.html
Then, there are her originals!
"Honey, There's The Door" (2019) - ruclips.net/video/sADOjoNux9o/видео.html
"Deep Water" (2019) - ruclips.net/video/wwlC5C8yjS8/видео.html
You forgot "Don't Speak" with PMJ
@@MooreCEJr No, it's there (with a link to the video)...just not listed in line with the 2015 recordings. I hope we get more surprises like that in the future! Haley and PMJ are a perfect fit.
@@MooreCEJr the only video of Haley performing “You Showed Me” on RUclips at a special fan appreciation show at the Hotel Cafe:
ruclips.net/video/tWR98K2tUOk/видео.htmlsi=W_NULoAhe6pSGDYz
@@HaleysTusk Have no idea what you are talking about... I was mentioning the cover Don't Speak. :)
@@MooreCEJr meant to reply to the link to the audio version of YSM in the OG post. why 'watch' an audio when you can watch a live performance?
This performance is absolutely singular. But when you know the story behind it it becomes absolutely insane.
Scott told in an interview that the arrangement was initially made for another singer. Haley liked it so much that she had been toying around with it on her own time.
They were on tour and on a day off they were recording some of these videos. At the end of the session Scott asked her if she wanted to have a go at the song. She was very hesitant because the touring and the recording session and her just getting over a cold meant she didn't really think her voice was up to it. Well Scott asked if she wouldn't at least give it one take. She agreed to one take... and this is that one take and the rest is history
Wow. That is incredible.
Haley Reinhart is one of the most gifted vocalists in the world. She can do any type of genre and adapts her voice to fit the song. I'd suggest Haley Reinhart with Jeff Goldblum's jazz band, The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra. They do a great rendition of My Baby Just Cares For Me. I also recommend "Haley Reinhart - Can’t Help Falling In Love ft. Casey Abrams." No matter what style of music, she always puts on a great performance as if she were born to that era. It's uncanny. Even songs I wouldn't normally listen to sound fabulous.
Yeah. This cover has a way of instantly getting added to a playlisr.
7 nation army and all about the bass is another haley reinhart + post modern jukebox combo that is vintagely delish
I'm looking forward to those. Thank you!
Oh yeah! Great reaction! Couldn't agree more. (Seeing her perform live next week and have a meet-and-greet with her. So excited!)
Oh wow. That sounds amazing. Where are you seeing her?
@@SwiftReactions Hi! My friends and kids are well acquainted with my strong appreciation for Haley's talent (I'm pretty sure that my habit of constantly texting them links to her music/videos tipped them off!) so a dear friend bought me a ticket to see her perform just outside of Boston. The ticket was one of those top-tier options that included a meet-and-greet before the performance! hehe I'm actually pretty nervous.
Oh don't be nervous. She is just a person but I'm sure the performance and the meeting will be amazing. You are very lucky. I hope you have an amazing time.
@@JustTomIsFine I was at her show in Natick recently, which may be the show you attended. As I’’m sure you’d agree, she was phenomenal as always. I didn’t do the meet and greet this time, but I have met her a couple times at previous shows, and she was so gracious in person. Love her to the moon and back.
@@mmnj6963 The Natick show was, indeed, the show that I attended. What a great venue! The meet-and-greet was low-key and friendly - I didn't feel rushed at all. "Phenomenal" says it all with respect to her performance! I drove several hours to see the show in Natick (I live in PA) and will do it again when she performs there again.
Now this is talent. One straight take, no edits or do-overs, and definitely no auto-tune. I won't type out the whole story behind the making of this video but in short, this was an impromptu shoot between gigs while on tour in Europe. Allegedly Haley was not feeling well and was not delighted with her performance.
Just wanted to add... do yourself a favor and dig deeper into Postmodern Jukebox. They have a huge back catalog on RUclips and almost every video is awesome.
Cheers Sooti. I'll do that.
@@SwiftReactions Scott Bradlee recalls that magic decision to record Haley's take on Scott's restyling of "Creep" - ruclips.net/video/MskKSH1Kf4U/видео.html With 123 million (and counting) views, "Creep" (Haley's version) is PMJ's most popular video.
This performance brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it, and I've probably hear it a couple hundred times. It's not a particularly emotional song, at least it doesn't touch me in an emotional way. But Haley's performance of it is just so damn good, that it sparks an involuntary emotional reaction in me. Kinda like getting the chills. She might be the most impressive singer I am aware of. I know, I know..."But what about Dimash". Dimash is impressive in another way. He's like a machine. Haley is human. And humanity comes through in her performances. It's like Betty Boop and Jessica Rabbit. I am completely helpless when she sings.
Everyone does her cover of "Seven Nation Army", and you should too. But she does a cover of Tove Lo's "Habits", and no one does it. It's quintessential Haley. If you aren't going to react to it, check it out for your own good.
"Habits" was the first PMJ video that featured Haley performing. It enjoyed a resurgence a year or so ago when it was used as the musical backdrop for a popular TikTok meme. That opened my eyes to the power of TikTok as it began racking up views and passing other PMJ videos to the point that it now ranks as 4th overall.* What makes that especially impressive is the music was uncredited so TikTok users (mostly young people) had to seek it out to disover the source.
*PMJ's five most-viewed videos:
#1 Creep
#2 All About That Bass
#3 Seven Nation Army
#4 Habits
#5 Bad Romance
Haley is featured in the top 4 videos (AATB being a group number).
@@vidpie great comment, thanks!
great reaction . this female vintage interpretation and character embodiment of this classic is absolutely stunning.. just because she is a beautiful woman versus the presubscribed concept of stalker dude of the original by radiohead does not mean she can not be rejected by someone or society as a whole for being her true self and the imperfections that come with that. maybe she is obsessive, jealous or just does not fit the expected submissive girlfriend, wife, etc narrative of that time. all this creates an internal tug of war and debate within herself of what do i need to change for someone (or society) to accept or love her (i.e. be special) vs her loving herself for being authentic (i.e. remain a weirdo). although the specific circumstances are unique for each individual, we have all been there at some point and why so many people can relate to this song.
however, the true masterpiece of the extraordinary performance is really just how well haley reinhart creatively taps all those mixed and conflicting emotions of the lyrics though her expansive and incredible vocals of soft breathiness, cries, belts, growls and scats strategically combined with her movements and facial expressions that creates this crazy push and pull effect that brings all those emotions out of us in both painful and satisfactory ways. her performance is an emotional roller coaster ride with postmodern jukebox providing the theme park underneath her. it's almost like she goes through the 12-steps of rejection and self acceptance in 4 minutes and 55 seconds. it is amazing and will go down as one of the best performances of our time. 😎
Couldn’t have said it better myself. 😂
@@JeffTokayer hey jeff... did you ever get to see haley live?
@@jaybourne1185 I have vip tickets for Buffalo 6/26. Hoping for the best.
This version by Hailey hits you in the feels and when growls ,,Wow😮😮😮😮😊😊😊😊😊❤
also what is even more impressive is that this masterpiece was actually completed in one take with a tired voice and all but one of the postmodern jukebox covers are done live with no auto-tune, etc more info in links below:
here is the history of "creep" one take from scott bradlee (the creator and pianist from postmodern jukebox): ruclips.net/video/MskKSH1Kf4U/видео.html.
here is additional history on haley and "creep" from #1 fan haleyTusk (even has a color pic of her from that day): ruclips.net/video/eVASTaIoTYw/видео.html
Her voice is like smoky butter.
Room under the stairs ❤❤
Might have been mentioned elsewhere but worth watching Morgan James and PMJ's version of Dream On
I'm going to see PMJ live here in Bavaria in September, unfortunately Haley will not be with them on this tour, but it'll still be a wonderful show, PMJ are great w/ or w/out Haley. But she is the icing on the cake or the cherry on top, and I really do hope to watch her live one day, one of the best vocalists they got in the US and criminally underrated... so these are two very deep rabbit holes, PMJ / Scott Bradlee on the one hand with hundreds of great recordings, and Haley's journey from American Idol up to this date with again hundreds of great recordings and a bunch of beautiful albums...
So why not start at the crossing point, the synergy is amazing as you just heard... next one PMJ x Haley "Seven Nation Army" please!
Peace and love from Bavaria!
If you had not reacted to Diana Ankudinova, I would love to see you react to her cover of “Wicked Game” when she was 15 yrs old. You will want to research her childhood before watching. She has the most unique voice you will ever listen to. Thanks and I loved your reaction.🙏🏼🌹💕
I have done a reaction to Diana Ankudinova singing Wicked Game ruclips.net/video/u1qHpOxwKTE/видео.html
@@SwiftReactions oh, thank you. Maybe a reaction to “Crow”🙏🏼🌹 by Diana.
I highly recommend checking out Paulina Villarreal from The Warning covering this song, just her, a piano, and an iPhone!
Thanks
Can't go wrong with any PMJ and Haley collaboration. ❤
Possibly the best cover I've heard , but I also love Brian Justin Crum,s version
Follow this one up with her rendition of Gwen Stefani;s "Don't Speak" You won't be disappointed.
After all of her PostModern Jukebox covers you should react to Haley Reinhart, Slash of Gun's and Rose's, and Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge performing "Wild Horses" by the Rolling Stones.
You need to see their 7 Nation Army cover.
SEVEN NATION ARMY NEW ORLEANS DIRGE BY #PMJ & #HALEYREINHART IS AWESOME!
PMJ has hundreds of great videos. Another one equally as good as this creep, is PMJ's cover of Dream on sung by Morgan James
Pmj are stunning look up Royals by puddles and Pmj 👌🔥
I like heir colab. on "Habits".
She showed up to film this not feeling really well and did this in one take. Please react to Dream On - Postmodern Jukebox ft. Morgan James.
filmed in one take, as Haley was in a rush
I say thgisb EVERYTIME that I here/see this. Haley Reinhart IS Jessica Rabbit reincarnated. And she didn't even dress up like Jessica. YET. Nice Post, and thank you for sharing it with us.
Loved your reaction to Hailey and pmj on there remake of Creep. Now try pmj and Morgan James re make of Aerosmiths Dream on
Covers can be really good - not as a replacement, but good nevertheless. There's an artist (group) of siblings called Lilliac that play instruments and sing. They covered "Enter Sandman", "Crazy Train", "Holy Diver" just to name a few. You should also check out "Sail Away" (not that one) an original song by them.
You should try PMJ All about that Bass :)
You just fell into the Rabbit Hole with PMJ and Haley, try "Don't speak" next
Supposedly this was there 1st take.
If you think this is good i suggest checking out Pau (drummer) from The Warning singing it on piano. She really captures the essence of the song.
PLEASE 7 national army 😮
Please react Zayn new album ❤
Try Haley and PMJ's, ''Habits''. A bit nasty (in a humorous way), but brilliant in every way.
Ooh. See that's how you leave a suggestion...now I'm intrigued! Thanks 🍻
@@SwiftReactions YW
Thank you for this reaction. Seeing that you have also reacted to the talented sisters of The Warning, I would encourage you to react to the cover of this same song done by Paulina, the drummer of The Warning, four years ago in a more raw, but amazing version of Creep. Here is the link: ruclips.net/video/A6Y4XpBxjU0/видео.html . Cheers!
Welcome back to the 1920s/1930s...
My problems are these: Haley is beautiful, great voice, clean dressed, her hairdo cost more than I get a week, and has a skilled support band. "Creep?"
I think she is excellent, BUT not this song. Best presentation of this song is by Mustard.
ruclips.net/video/hXlzci1rKNM/видео.html
40m views.
Lol. It's an interpretation of a song not a confession.
I can’t quite remember, but have you checked out either of these 2 brilliant songs by Budakhel (consisting of Bugoy Drilon, Daryl Ong & Michael Pangilinan) called “Thank God I found you” (with Katrina Velarde’) & “Too late to say goodbye (to yesterday)” - With Jason Steele??? With either song, you will be on the receiving end of harmonising brilliance ✌️😎👍
Now listen to PMJ do Aerosmith's "Dream On" with singer Morgan James, IMO the best singer out there right now, and Morgan and Haley do the Beatles' "Dear Prudence" sitting on a sofa barefoot with Morgan's husband playing acoustic jazz guitar
Spamming your listing of reactions is NOT COOL.
What spamming? Has someone been spamming my viewers?
Great voice no doubt but for me it's a kinda weird take on a song about a nobody, someone lacking in self esteem etc. She makes that person sexy, not just because of how she looks but because how she sings and moves. Just feels wrong in context to to the lyrics and meaning of the song.
