Fun fact about Candle Cove, The creator Kris Straub later went on to create the series Local 58, witch is widely considered one of the best and most influential entries in the analog horror genre.
Kris Straub has done a LOT of awesome creative projects. One that I don't ever really see get mentioned is the site Ichor Falls, which is home to a bunch of scary stories he wrote (including Candle Cove). Sadly the site is dead (although it can be accessed through the Internet Archive), but Straub also published a book containing many of the stories that you can still buy today. I've had it in my collection for over a decade, it's awesome.
I'd argue it's the ONLY actual analog horror project. Because it is the only project I am aware of that actually utilizes the "analog" part, that could be an actual tape recording and isn't just a slideshow of spoOoOoOoky pictures.
@@doktorhabilitowanystanczyk Marble Hornets could be considered analog horror what with the glitches and audio distortions. It also uses real analog cameras.
I don’t see people bring it up often, but I definitely recommend “if you’re armed and at the glenmont metro, please shoot me”. it’s a psychological/existential horror story about a man who takes an experimental drug that slows down the way you experience time waiting for a train, and this really mundane act is translated into something absolutely terrifying when it’s revealed that what to us is maybe a 10 minute wait is an incomprehensible amount of time for the narrator. there’s a bit that stuck out so much to that it’s never left my head since where the narrator says that if he gets shot he’ll feel the fraction of a second of that for decades, but it’ll still be preferable to waiting for his train
I remember that one! Fates worse than death are the scariest thing to me.... technically I know it's implied he dies eventually, but the post gives a sense of impending doom that he has a percieved millions of years yet to suffer before it can end.
@@Magic_Skeleton YEAH. there’s (I think) another line in the story where the narrator says that even if the drug wears off he’ll never be able to live normally again because he’ll have literally just straight up forgotten how. all of his speech n movement n such will just be fucked until he dies because he spent what’s to him basically a whole planet’s lifetime living in a completely different way. even if he were capable of getting that control back, I think it’d take much longer than his natural human lifespan
the part where he blinks and describes millions of years of going insane, thrice over in the darkness behind his closed eyes is something I think about from time to time, very good taste in creepypasta
Tails Doll actually predates Sonic.exe, and I think it's actually older than the Creepypasta phenomenon as a whole. Most of it was based on the character's official art being kinda... unsettling, and people were telling weird little horror stories with it before they'd even settled on a singular name for the character, so some of the oldest works featuring it refer to it as "Teddy Tails" instead. A lot of earlier work featured it terrorising other Sonic characters rather than people, but those early fan sites still included sections dedicated to letting people write about "encounters" with it. The most obvious case of Sonic.exe being a knockoff of the Tails Doll fandom was the ending. Having the monster manifest as a plush toy makes way more sense when the monster is already a plush toy.
@@HeartsSoulArts I'll admit, I'm kind of a stick in the mud there, I don't like it when memes get referenced, and it had way more longevity as a meme than it did as something actually scary. Nothing has more "How do you do, fellow kids" vibes than an Internet thing showing up in a comic or TV show. Doesn't help that the only thing that was ever creepy about it is the one art piece that's kinda unsettling. Everything else about it isn't scary at all. It's just the latest crappy robot in a long, long line of terrible Eggman designs, notable only for being not nearly as cool as an actual Metal Tails would've been. The creepypastas and other 'horror' stories about it weren't ever _good,_ I honestly thought most of it was an ironic joke for a while. Also, I'm never gonna give Archie credit for the Tails Doll when it was the only thing they decided to actually give a proper ending to after 18 months of Mecha Sally. Penders didn't copyright roboticization, they had every opportunity to end the storyline we'd spent over a year on, and they spent it on the Tails Doll instead.
The "Tails Doll curse" stuff specifically really started becoming a thing when an old old site I believed called "Quacker & Bowen" had people submit stories about what'd happen when triggering the curse by doing some specific gameplay things (I think it was tagging everyone as Super Sonic in a certain order or something? It's been an awfully long time). Very glad to see someone else comment that it was indeed very much a thing well before exe & before creepypasta really started taking off as a thing. I was so little when I read those ridiculous fake stories and got shaken up so badly by them. 😂
@otar9259 I was waiting for someone to pull out the old "quacker and bowen" I don't care to admit how much time I spent on it back in the day. Anytime a tails dool reference comes up, it's Christmas and Halloween to me 😂it's so incredibly niche but the real ones know the dark depths it goes.
Tails Doll looks like a dog that ate a bee. Comics not only mentioning the meme as a joke but actually turning him into eldrich monster with scary teeth and tendrils is the cringest shit i ever seen
I always remembered hearing people on forums talk about how some evil stuff would happen if you did… something while playing as Tails Doll-something with Super Sonic? I never played the game so I never knew the details, but reading about the whole thing creeped me out as a teen.
my favorite creepy pasta is one i stumbled on and did a dramatic reading of with my friend ages ago. it starts with a haunted copy of Skyrim and ends with half the population of the planet dying. no clue what its called or if it was ever popular. it was awful but i loved it.
Reminds me of a GTA: San Andreas creepypasta that starts with your usual spooky game shenanigans, and somehow ends with the president of the United States (I think it might have even been Obama) being JFK'd both in game and reality. You can NOT make this stuff up.
i remember hearing about a skyrim creepypasta, one where the player keeps being attacked by an invisible monster and all the NPCs hide in their houses except at night time they come out and look straight up into the sky and tell you to watch the stars, and it turns out the sky texture was changed to a real life star map i dont remember how it ends though so im not sure if it's related to the one you're talking about
The “Lost Episodes” entry is actually about a story by Slimebeast. It’s about a guy who edits tapes that slowly become more demented. It’s pretty meta and can be seen as the origin for every single one of these lost episode creepypastas if you want to look at the story that way
Hi; ELA teacher dropping in to say that it looks like the Nathan the Nobody one may be difficult to read because the tense (past/present/future) keeps changing mid-sentence and the author wrote almost everything in passive voice, which isn't inherently bad, but some sentences sound more awkward one way or the other. I think we naturally vary our active/passive voices when speaking to avoid this kind of awkwardness. There may be other issues, but those are the ones I noticed. 👍I paused to read a bit of it because I love giving notes on writing. I hope this is interesting to someone. :)
Hi! Creator of Nathan, thank you for this comment. I am not really skilled when it comes to writing so I love learning where or how I can improve in some way or another!
Hi! Long time subscriber! I am the creator of Nathan the Nobody. (prefer this username over the other listed I did ask a long time ago for them to fix the author but they never got back to me) I would like to say sorry for the difficulty of his story! I am not amazing when it comes to writing, that and maybe mixed with discovering I have Dyslexia. haha. Nathan has a whole backstory that dives into him and his twin sister, but since that story is older I can promise its not easier to consume. lol. I love your videos! Pleasantly shocked to see Nathan even in a video!
That's so cool! You seem to be the actual creator. I have yet to read it, but I must say it's one of the most interesting premises in the video. It does kinda remind me of Edgar Allan Poe's stories.
I suggest you to talk about the whole "blue whale game" hoax I swear in 2016 (probably it wasn't in this year my memory is kinda horrible) it was talked about everywhere, even in TV it makes me baffled that everyone believed in this at time and I think it would be interesting to cover it =)
I use to be terrified of the “Mickey mouse ripoff” photo. I later found out it was a costume and the person had nothing to do with the blue whale challenge
OMG yeah there were a lot of hoaxes like that in the mid-2010s. I don't know if it qualifies as a creepypasta or not but the Talking Angela thing deserves a mention (even if it's only to point to the video that Izzzyzzz already made about it).
That "Antran" picture really gets me worse than a lot of other's do and I think thats largely cause of how the story affected me, however it wasn't the actual story but a different story attached to the same photo that I saw while scrolling tumblr many years ago. From what I remember: In that story the Robot was made by the narrator and was treated as his prized creation, and raised alongside the narrator's sons (the boys in the photo) as like their brother or something. Then it grew jealous of the brother, and killed him and wore his skin. I remember it ending with them finding the robot under a table wearing the boy's skin and saying "I'm a real boy now" or something to that affect. I could never find that version of the story again but I just remember it when I see the picture and how bad it fucked with me at the time. UPDATE: So while looking through my liked videos on youtube trying to look for an old video I found a dramatic reading of that version of the story, that version was called "Hey Kid! (1991)". It was definitely not at scary or affecting as I remembered it being at like 13 or 14 when I initially read it, but now that I've found it I can do my part in the internet stories' preservation.
The "Lost Episodes" entry at 18:15 may also refer to the creepypasta literally called "Lost Episodes" by Slimebeast. It's a creepypasta about a boy named Sid, who uses his expertise in cutting together VHS tapes to initially "fix" bad endings of certain media or remove antagonists entirely, but slowly becomes more interested in editing the tapes to create far more gruesome endings, which he then sneaks into video rental stores. The narrator eventually grows more distant from Sid, until he remembers him one day and finds that he had effectively given up all human functions (hygeine, eating, sleeping, etc.), let his parents' corpses rot, and devoted his every waking moment to drawing. The creepypasta climaxes with the narrator discovering Sid dead, having embedded several wires and pieces of metal into his skin, with a looping animation on a TV of Sid walking and occasionally pausing to wave. Lost Episodes is one of my personal favorite creepypastas. It even has a sequel that's a bit more supernatural, in which one of Sid's tapes effectively becomes haunted and "edits" media put near it, though I enjoy the first one more for its fairly original approach. Definitely would recommend.
I agree with you regarding "Sid's Video". The original works because it's about one man obsessed with creating an idealized version of reality using existing media, culminating in him attempting to escape to the world he created. The sequel is just a guy watching VHS tapes and accidentally waking up a ghost.
Slimebeast honestly deserves a lot more attention, he's made so many great stories from the old years and beyond, he's written BOOKS, and I think he still makes new stories! He's truly in it for the love of the game.
Seeing 1999 on here smacked me in the face and yanked me all the way back to my creepypasta phase in 2012, because for the LIFE of me I couldn't remember the name of it, but remembered the beats of the story. It was one of the pasta's that stuck with me the most because of how low-key and unsettling it was. You don't know how happy I am for this closure, it's been bugging me for years now.
Strangest Security Tape I've Ever seen is one of my favorites! Candle Cove is also really good and, it was actually made by the same person who did Local58! Kris Straub is an absolute legend tbh.
I don’t know if it counts as a creepypasta, but I’m very fond of the game of knowledge. McGriel is like the author tried to create a scary tumblr sexyman only to forget to make him creepy and focused on him being boyfriend material
I love mcgriel also yes I think he counts as a creepypasta and honestly I don't even care that it's not scary bc the real horror would be that mcgriel is disappointed in me.
"Has Anyone Heard of the Left Right Game?" Is my favorite r/nosleep story! Im not sure if it counts as a creepypasta, but still had to bring it up. I re-read it every couple of months, seriously recommend it!!
Candle Cove (along with the russian sleep experiment...yes...I know...) was probably the creepypasta that genuinely scared me the most when I was about 10-11. The idea that it turns out that they weren't watching anything at all, for some reason, really got to me. I don't think I knew what a creepypasta was so a small part of me thought it might hold some truth. Over a decade later and I can see it being a reason for my love of finding and researching old, obscure tv shows, films, and books from my childhood
I think the idea of it not even being real Like a joint experience by people probably not even from the same country and maybe continent but it's engraved itself in countless children's minds, these children that don't even know each other have the same idea of some right down to it being all puppets and the different skin patches is truly horrifying to think off The thought that more than a hundred children saw and heard the same thing and it all ended up being a figment of their imaginations would just be confusing so I can see why you found it creepy and or unsettling as a child
Yeah I think the formatting of it also makes the story really cool, it allows the author to gradually make it more creepy without the typical narrative of "I kept watching it and it got weirder." I love the part where someone mentions having the weird creepy dream, and then they ALL had the dream, and then went "No, wait, that was an actual episode?". I've totally been there when recounting weird nostalgic stuff with my friends to the vibe felt super real for me.
@@SuperstarMelodii yeah, scary experiences are bad. SHARED scary experiences where other people have seen what you’ve seen and therefore cannot be put down to you just “seeing things” is worse!
If you like Candle Cove you should check the analog horror series Local58 it’s made by the original author of the creepypasta and is one of best in the analog genre and a staple for others in the genre. It uses some elements similar to the creepypasta.
4:00 Some of you may best know Kris Straub for being the one who made that meme edit of The Bye-Bye Man called "The Peepee Poopoo Man." I find it hilarious that for all the genuinely great stuff the man has written, that The Peepee Poopoo Man is probably his most famous work. Not finished with the video yet so it may get mentioned at some point, but since it wasn't mentioned in the Candle Cove section, Kris Straub is also the mind behind Local 58!
It's hilarious how one man can be so serious and spooky as a D&D character in a massively shadowy corporation, then just come out with "peepee poopoo man".
Rap Rat is also a real board game. It is one of those like Nightmare that is based around a video tape. The character is meant to be cool/funny and simply pops up periodically to shake up the simple board game where players try and collect the most cheese.
'It is not known how they managed to mail their eyes after gouging them out' I let out the ugliest bellowing laugh at that, so glad I had the pleasure of hearing it 😂
Fun fact about the Tails Doll: the creepypasta actually influenced the Archie Sonic comics. Towards the end of the series, the Tails Doll is found and cared for by one of the child characters. After the protagonists begin to trust it, it ends up turning into a robotic kaiju like villain. Has a pretty cool design, imo.
Though not particularly popular, my two favourite creepypasta’s are ‘I Dared my Bestfriend to Ruin my Life’ and ‘Madison.’ The first was so genuinely intense and gripping for me. About a two hour read that really has me hanging on every time. The second is a joke creepypasta, but in the best way. It manages to be both a funny parody and take itself just seriously enough to have actual horror elements, though all of them are explained by an unphased sassy teenage girl. I highly recommend both!
YESSSSSSSSSS! i’m not well, have covid again, and this was exactly the ticket i needed to perfect health. thank you, angel of the highest order. your content is some of my very favorite on this site.
(edited) From what I've heard from my comments, the creator of this character was actually Japanese...I'm sorry for misrepresenting them!! Just ignore all of the stuff below here, please. I'm 70% sure that Kagekao's name is meant to translate to "Shadow Face" in Japanese and - while I'm not totally sure this is what happened - the idea of some Creepypasta fan Google Translating a name for their terrifying eldritch demon is just SENDING me. Entirely based on personal experience, BTW...I miss the days where I used Google Translate for names... Anyway! Thank you so much for another excellent video, Izzy! I'm super excited for the rest of this series, but take all the time you need!!
The fact that the author made him 5'4 like that's supposed to be impressive of intimidating also really sells how this was probably written by a preteen.
From what I remember from my Creepypasta days the creator of Kagekao was actually Japanese lol, they also had a bunch of other OCs based on Japanese folklore(shinigami, yokai, that type of stuff) that would interact with him
Actually, Lost Episodes is its own creepypasta. It's about a guy called Sid who cuts tapes to make his own versions of existing shows. He started his hobby from a genuine place, but, as per creepypasta norm, he became more unhinged and created increasingly morbid content. The story is told by a previous friend of his, who witnessed the beginning of his descent. Credit goes to Hoodohoodlumsrevenge for introducing me to this one.
this is kinda modern, but "Rules Creepypastas" should 100% be on the list. Y'know those ones where someone enters a new setting (usually a new job) and is given a bunch of SpOoKy rules they're supposed to follow
I know this will get drowned out in the other comments, but I’d be so happy if you covered the gothic cartoon Ruby Gloom!!! It is filled with weird lore, a creepy pilot, adorably spooky characters (they are right up your alley), and an absolutely BANGER scrapped theme song. Please check it out!
19:57 I will interject about this entry of Plankton Got Served. It is not the same as Squidward's Su (I'll shorten it to that so this comment doesn't get taken down). It's instead a darker reinterpretation of an actual SpongeBob episode where Mr Krabs uses Plankton's fear of whales to dress up as his daughter, Pearl, to scare him. I recommend reading into the creepypasta for more info on what the actual story is.
Oh, my favorite creepypasta was one of the ones on this tier that you skipped over. There's something about Normal Prawn for Normal People that has it still as fresh in my mind today as it was while I was reading it, and the older I get, frankly the more I believe that there's videos like it, hidden somewhere out in the open on the clear web. But I understand how it's not super RUclips friendly.
that one's my fave creepypasta as well. it's so unassuming, so plainly written and so unnervingly realistic. it never tries to go for a big shocking jumpscare or red room ending, and the weird mundanity of it all makes it feel sooooo real.
@@leon_atrewo IIRC the story details the OP finding a website filled with bizarre and disconcerting videos that are presented as what OP desribed as 'prawn'. A lot of them are just very odd, though I dont recall them having a lot of overt content in them. A highlight is a video of a repair guy humping a washing machine for 30 minutes, then leaving. The ending is the only part that gets particularly crazy, though if my memory isn't faulty @kylesugarman is wrong and it IS heavily implied to be a red room ending, but in a really uh, peculiar way that isn't your standard hostel-like gore
I'm really nostalgic by the creepypasta iceberg, I absolutely LOVED that kind of content when I was younger Also, you're really great at making essays ^^
I’m from the south in America, and the goatman creepypasta is actual something my grandpa would talk about it when I was growing up, he would talk about how it would stare at him and siblings thru the window, tried to lure his little brother outside and take him, to shake their trailer to get them out. From my understanding, goatman is a southern native tale that people in the woods would tell to people, found that oddly hilarious, love the vid izzyzz keep it up :p 🫶
I do know the difference between the creepypasta and the urban legend I just got very bad sentence structure/grammar/idk wordy words lol that’s were you can tell I’m from the south -
I can't remember the name but the creepypasta that's absolutely stuck with me despite only reading it once was one about a guy who thinks he sees a rat in the street one day only to realize it's actually a tiny man pretending to be a rat. After seeing one, he notices them in more and more places until they realize he's seen them and they start to torment him. Every once in a while I imagine movement in the corner of my vision and remember that damned story.
0:07 hey izzy btw the image for the part with funnymouth is actualy an image of a dead body if a man who had his jaw ripped off just heavily distorted i would recommend blurring it

I remember being really into the slenderverse ARG community. There were hundreds of these little youtube shows, the most well known is marble hornets (this is were "masky" and "hoodie" come from, their creepypasta was written after the show). Other popular ARGs featuring slenderman were Tribe Twelve and Everymanhybrid. I LOVED the found fotage feel many of them had. I would love it if you one day make an episode focuses on internet ARGs :D! There are so many great ones out there.
Oh! I don’t know if it’d fit, but I’d love for you to mention “tales from the gas station”, it’s my favorite series and is pretty funny overall. Love the characters and story and how much the author has grown throughout the years.
Omg the Goatman creepy pasta was the first one I ever read, and it scared the crap out of me. The idea of a creature just silently existing in your group, unnoticed and with unknown motives, is SO frightening to me. I had forgotten all about it, so I will def have to re-read, as it made such an impact on me.
I stumbled upon Penpal years ago and something about it has always stuck with me. It was very well written compared to other nosleep stories and there was just something so unnerving and almost strangely nostalgic about it. In recent times I've had the urge to read it again, but I worry it won't live up to being as good as I remember it.. Candle Cove was also great. I distinctly remember reading The Goatman too - I was alone in a cabin late at night at a wild life reserve and it absolutely spooked the bejeezus out of me - specifically the part where the kids realise there is an extra person in the trailer with them XD
I've reread Penpal as an adult, and honestly it holds up really well. You have to stretch your suspension of disbelief on some of the later parts a bit, but those first few entries are still gripping.
You should reread it as it still holds up to this day and but I recommend the novel version, the original author actually made the no sleep series into a novel like mentioned in the video, and apparently the novel adds some more details and information that adds more context or clears some things up compared to the original story in no-sleep. Also due to the popularity of the no sleep series the original author became a horror writer and I think wrote more stories and I think even became a writer for a few tv shows and movies but I could be wrong. I also recommend watching Creepcast reading of it besides having MeatCanyon and Wendigoon in it, they make fun of certain moments and talk about the author and give critiques at the end. The series Creepcast goes over creepypastas and no sleep, just basically any horror media as recently they did the Gregory Twitter arg. They have a few episodes but they like over an hour each, my favorite episode besides Penpal is the Jeff the Killer and Borrasca. They did Russian sleep experiment, the left right game, my dead girlfriend keeps messaging me on facebook, stairs in the woods, and the thing in the basement is getting better mimicking people.
Man I spent way more time obsessing over Candle Cove than I can admit. I loved that story so much. And I truly love Penpal to this day. It got me back into reading as an adult, and got me into really good horror literature. It's so important to me as a reader!! It's FLAWED for sure but oh my god it started back up my reading journey 😢
YESSS I'M SEEING THIS 2 MINUTES AFTER IT UPLOADED!!! I'm so excited to listen to this part, I love creepypasta so much. Thank you Izzzyzzz!!! Happy Halloween!
Izzzyzzz videos are always so well crafted, with well-written scripts, presented wonderfully, and then at the outro they fall apart and become a mess of thank yous and apologies and it's always really relatable lol.
Creepypasta were such a pillar of my childhood- Specifically tween and teen years ofc. I remember dressing up for creepypasta meetup events around the time of The Stabbing, and I remember being 17 and painting my first place while my partner and I listened to creepypasta for hours just painting in silence listening to the different spooky stories. I haven’t caught up with any creepypasta in yeeaaars! Maybe I should
There is also a creepypasta called Lost Episodes iirc. It's about a guy who grew up with a friend who was obsessed with splicing movies and giving them violent endings and he goes off the deep end. I remember it being pretty decent and kind of a sad ending.
I read NoEnd House a couple days ago, it is still my favourite creepypasta, i am so happy it got included here! I also love the NES Godzilla one, very cool
Speaking on the fun idea of scary lost episodes - an actual REAL episode of As Told By Ginger played that scared me so much as a kid that I had regular nightmares and had to see a psychiatrist about it was called "Lunatic Lake" and it was about the kids and their families staying at this camp in the woods where the kids all said there was rumored to be a lunatic loose and running around. Lo and behold, there actually was a lunatic and in the middle of the night they run into an old man crawling around on all fours and barking like a dog in the middle of the woods. I think they may call the cops and get them to take him away? I don't really remember how it ends. Anyways, even though I'm an adult now, when I think about that episode, I'm surprised by how they got away with that sort of thing in a Nickelodeon kids show lol.
I remember that episode! They run into him and borrow his dog, then when he finds them again one of the girls say's it's him and chased him away. You never really find out what happened to him. They got away with a lot more in older cartoons like that. This was one of the lighter eps.
The creepypasta "The princess" became widely popular within the spanish community in the last few years. It's about a misterious NPC like entity that spawns in certain games and the research group that tried to uncover the truth. It's written in short chapters like NES godzilla and really stands out from other creepypastas. I think you can read it in it's author's blog (Alex Lemley).
my mom 100% believes she watched candle cove on tv when she was a kid in the 70's. in fact the first time i ever heard of candle cove was from her, looked it up on my computer later and couldn't tell if she told me about it to deliberately mess with me or if her memory got confused
Seeing Kagekao on this list is such a blast to the past!! I used to follow the creator’s Deviantart page and read their stories about him religiously. So cool to see the character included!!
I loved 1999 as a kid, mostly because it was realistic (as much as a Creepypasta can be). There was no creepy ghost jumping out at the end, it was just a TV personality who used his platform to harm kids, a story which is far to common in our world.
Candle Cove is hands down my favourite creepypasta! I think a small part of me is jealous I'll never watch a show about puppet pirates with a skeleton villain.
Super late to the party, but the fact Rap Rat is on the iceberg is hilarious. That was one of the few creepypastas I was genuinely afraid of. I used to sit in my bed at night and freak out whenever I heard noises, thinking it was Rap Rat trying to claw its way in. I have no clue why I was so scared of it 😭
Thank you for the love for NES Godzilla, it’s my all time favorite. The amount of work that went into it blows my mind. I also reread it at least once a year, it just hits every time. To me, it, Ben Drowned, and Lost Silver are the trifecta of fun spooky video game creepypasta. Absolute required reading!! If you haven’t experienced it, give it a shot!!
This has nothing to do with the video's topic but I absolutely love your look in this video. Like, all your looks are always super cool but this one is stunning.
As someone who was too young and paranoid to be into creepypasta at its peak, I really appreciate this deep dive :) Also - I find it so funny that it’s known as “Pokemon CREEPY black” ever since Pokemon released Black/White 😂
i'm so glad you covered the NES godzilla creepypasta, it's one of my favorites of all time!! that first moment when red's sprite looks at the viewer gives me chills every time.
Tails Doll predates Sonic EXE by AGES! I never played the game he was from, but the urban legends about it terrified me when I was younger! Also, one detail about Happy Appy that you missed is that it’s not written by one person-it was made through the effort of an entire forum to create a terrible creepypasta. I remember reading through the thread and being… unimpressed.
i’m so glad you agree nes godzilla is one of if not the best creepypasta ever made it’s just so innately creative and wonderfully eerie, i actually never just read the story i always watched a read through on yt and its SO effective even has a few jumpscares woven in, such a classic piece of internet literature
I remember getting really into creepypastas during the 2021 quarantine and finding the mr. Whitemouth one I was scared shitless because of it for 2 weeks lmao
13:12 yeah, fucking whatever, you showed the clip of mereana mordegard glesgorv for too long and now I just gouged my eyes out. fucking thanks. and by the way im sending them to YOU not youtube hq.
I’ve been sick all day and cozying up with a new creepypasta video from one of my favorite RUclipsrs has made it much better! Shoutout to Pokemon Creepy Black btw, I think that was the first creepypasta I ever read years ago- absolute throwback after not thinking about it in over a decade!
Thank you Izzzy for letting me finally know where Nathan the Nobody came from. I remember seeing art of him with Jeff and the other tumblr creepypastas everywhere a little after I left the fandom originally and being confused because I hadn't heard of him
I was on the Bogleech forums when NES Godzilla was being worked on and we were such a tiny community that it's always felt like a miracle to me it became so huge. If any Bogleech folks are watching, IcyBowser says hello :,)
The thumbnail of this vid with the guy who's face is tinted red just single handedly unlocked a repressed memory. Ah, this video shall be perfect for me about to sleep 😭 I cant help it, ur videos are comforting
I used to listen to creepypasta readings like podcasts, so this is bringing up some memories Particularly NES Godzilla keeping me entertained on a treadmill and being so baffled by Happy Appy that I stopped cleaning my room and stared at a wall
I think the Lost Episode entry refers to a story about a person remembering a childhood friend who edited VHS tapes and decides to go to his friend's house when the guy finds creepypastas that are talking about the exact edits his friend showed him
The biggest jumpscare of all time is listening to this as background noise and then hearing the name of your exact location like wtf I'm playing the Sims

Fun fact about Candle Cove, The creator Kris Straub later went on to create the series Local 58, witch is widely considered one of the best and most influential entries in the analog horror genre.
Local 58 and The Mandela Catalogue are some of my absolute favourites for analog horror, thank you for mentioning this!
He also created a webcomic called Broadhollow
Sheesh, that was a tough read. In a good way! All made a bit freakier, since I get off at the Glenmont Metro stop sometimes
the part where he blinks and describes millions of years of going insane, thrice over in the darkness behind his closed eyes is something I think about from time to time, very good taste in creepypasta
this is ONE OF MY FAVORITES OF ALL TIME. and it has a sequel to it iirc? and god it's SO good.
That sounds amazing haha. You had me at skyrim.
Reminds me of a GTA: San Andreas creepypasta that starts with your usual spooky game shenanigans, and somehow ends with the president of the United States (I think it might have even been Obama) being JFK'd both in game and reality. You can NOT make this stuff up.
Today, I found out that Skyrim creepypastas exists

i dont remember how it ends though so im not sure if it's related to the one you're talking about
The “Lost Episodes” entry is actually about a story by Slimebeast.

@@IvyDarkRose I love this conversation thread. The actual creepypasta author, talking to a teacher, both on RUclips.
Hi! Long time subscriber! I am the creator of Nathan the Nobody. (prefer this username over the other listed I did ask a long time ago for them to fix the author but they never got back to me)
I would like to say sorry for the difficulty of his story!
It’s honestly not too bad compared to other creepypastas! Very charming! (in a weird way?)
While NES Godzilla is not my favourite story of all time the spriteart is honestly incredible and worth the read for the visual spectacle alone!

I suggest you to talk about the whole "blue whale game" hoax
I swear in 2016 (probably it wasn't in this year my memory is kinda horrible) it was talked about everywhere, even in TV
it makes me baffled that everyone believed in this at time and I think it would be interesting to cover it =)
I use to be terrified of the “Mickey mouse ripoff” photo. I later found out it was a costume and the person had nothing to do with the blue whale challenge
Wait, it was fake?? I swear I thought it was real
it was real tho
omg i remember being 9/10 warning people about that and my online friends telling me about that.. youve just awoken some memories
I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT BECAUSE I ALSO READ IT OH MY GOD
I've read this one too.
for a lot of these stories i also recognized the picture and name but knew a completely different story attached to it
i laughed at it because it's so badly photoshopped
So he's basically Tyler Durden? XD
That sounds so cool and creepy
Slimebeast honestly deserves a lot more attention, he's made so many great stories from the old years and beyond, he's written BOOKS, and I think he still makes new stories! He's truly in it for the love of the game.

Seeing 1999 on here smacked me in the face and yanked me all the way back to my creepypasta phase in 2012, because for the LIFE of me I couldn't remember the name of it, but remembered the beats of the story. It was one of the pasta's that stuck with me the most because of how low-key and unsettling it was. You don't know how happy I am for this closure, it's been bugging me for years now.

I don’t know if it counts as a creepypasta, but I’m very fond of the game of knowledge. McGriel is like the author tried to create a scary tumblr sexyman only to forget to make him creepy and focused on him being boyfriend material
Like Jenny Nicolson said, he's literally the most wholesome spooky pasta man ever created

I think the idea of it not even being real
Like a joint experience by people probably not even from the same country and maybe continent but it's engraved itself in countless children's minds, these children that don't even know each other have the same idea of some right down to it being all puppets and the different skin patches is truly horrifying to think off
The thought that more than a hundred children saw and heard the same thing and it all ended up being a figment of their imaginations would just be confusing so I can see why you found it creepy and or unsettling as a child
Yeah I think the formatting of it also makes the story really cool, it allows the author to gradually make it more creepy without the typical narrative of "I kept watching it and it got weirder."
I love the part where someone mentions having the weird creepy dream, and then they ALL had the dream, and then went "No, wait, that was an actual episode?".

Though not particularly popular, my two favourite creepypasta’s are ‘I Dared my Bestfriend to Ruin my Life’ and ‘Madison.’
The first was so genuinely intense and gripping for me. About a two hour read that really has me hanging on every time.
The second is a joke creepypasta, but in the best way. It manages to be both a funny parody and take itself just seriously enough to have actual horror elements, though all of them are explained by an unphased sassy teenage girl.
I highly recommend both!

The fact that the author made him 5'4 like that's supposed to be impressive of intimidating also really sells how this was probably written by a preteen.

The ending is the only part that gets particularly crazy, though if my memory isn't faulty @kylesugarman is wrong and it IS heavily implied to be a red room ending, but in a really uh, peculiar way that isn't your standard hostel-like gore
It's one of the most realistic ones out of a lot of the other pasta's.

Everymanhybrid?

We’re only on episode two and I’m already stoked for the 6 hour supercut of all the Creepypasta series compiled 😌
You have to stretch your suspension of disbelief on some of the later parts a bit, but those first few entries are still gripping.
i have a physical copy of Penpal :D it's so good even reading it now
You should reread it as it still holds up to this day and but I recommend the novel version, the original author actually made the no sleep series into a novel like mentioned in the video, and apparently the novel adds some more details and information that adds more context or clears some things up compared to the original story in no-sleep.
Me remembering mybold favorite creepypasta: great works of horror.
Me re-reading as an adult:

Man I spent way more time obsessing over Candle Cove than I can admit. I loved that story so much. And I truly love Penpal to this day. It got me back into reading as an adult, and got me into really good horror literature. It's so important to me as a reader!! It's FLAWED for sure but oh my god it started back up my reading journey 😢
Izzy has one of the few channels where I'm genuinely interested in every single video they upload 😭
YESSS I'M SEEING THIS 2 MINUTES AFTER IT UPLOADED!!! I'm so excited to listen to this part, I love creepypasta so much. Thank you Izzzyzzz!!! Happy Halloween!
And once again, Izzy’s outfits and attitude still stunning and wholesome. Excited for the new merch too!
20:33 the rat just hitting the jig 😞😞
I'd never read Penpal as a child, but I recently listened to a reading on The Dark Somnium's channel and it's one of the best I've ever seen.
Yeah! I listened to it in the nosleep podcast!
I remember it being pretty decent and kind of a sad ending.
whats the name i cant find it
it's by Slimebeast, so that might help tracking it down. its also sometimes paired with its fanmade (?) sequel called sid's video or smth similar
@wyvern3141 yes! I remember Mr.Creepypasta had a narration of it for a while but I think it was maybe taken down?
I read NoEnd House a couple days ago, it is still my favourite creepypasta, i am so happy it got included here! I also love the NES Godzilla one, very cool
I know it has at least two sequels (spinoffs?)
Seeing an Izzzy video notification pop up while at work is the best! Thank you for the great video!
She’s probably mixing them up with the The Kroft brothers shows like Lidsvile or H.R Pufnstuf who are equally as trippy
@@mkultragrlI grew up on HR pufnstuf. Honestly I’m surprised I wasn’t more scared of it being I grew up in the early 2000s. I forgot about that show.
The Rap Rat segment definitely needed a Flash Warning!! Starts at 20:17 and ends at 20:44
Seeing Kagekao on this list is such a blast to the past!!
Maybe you'll do your own version.
As someone who was too young and paranoid to be into creepypasta at its peak, I really appreciate this deep dive :)
Also - I find it so funny that it’s known as “Pokemon CREEPY black” ever since Pokemon released Black/White 😂
i'm so glad you covered the NES godzilla creepypasta, it's one of my favorites of all time!! that first moment when red's sprite looks at the viewer gives me chills every time.
Dropped everything to watch. Even though I was terrified of anything like this as a kid I love these videos so much.
I did not expect to see Generation Loss on here while looking at all the entries, let alone underneath the iceberg.
I remember reading through the thread and being… unimpressed.
the rush of joy that went down my spine when I saw the thumbnail on my feed oh my god
So good to see you again Izzzyzzz! Thank you for the video, I'm hope all is going well!
ur outfits are iconic
so excited for part two! can’t wait to see if there are any i don’t know
i’m so glad you agree nes godzilla is one of if not the best creepypasta ever made it’s just so innately creative and wonderfully eerie, i actually never just read the story i always watched a read through on yt and its SO effective even has a few jumpscares woven in, such a classic piece of internet literature
Such an honor to be in the thumbnail
ðeres no way youre ðe real byron cortez
candle cove literally petrified me as a kid and even rehearing the story gave me huge chills holy shit
I remember getting really into creepypastas during the 2021 quarantine and finding the mr. Whitemouth one
I was scared shitless because of it for 2 weeks lmao
It probably didn't help that COVID was still a real-life fear.
I checked your channel last night to see if you had uploaded part two! It’s a Halloween miracle
13:12 yeah, fucking whatever, you showed the clip of mereana mordegard glesgorv for too long and now I just gouged my eyes out. fucking thanks. and by the way im sending them to YOU not youtube hq.
'Rugrats Theory' style Creepypastas were everywhere in the early 2010s. The Recess theory one used to haunt me in particular.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Thanks for all the spooks :D
11:41
lol this is so relatable i remember being TERRIFIEDDDD of happy appy but now look back and just go "...why?"
Izzzyzzz is so good that 2 weeks after finishing the 17 hour creepypasta iceberg, i want to watch this 😭
I’ve been sick all day and cozying up with a new creepypasta video from one of my favorite RUclipsrs has made it much better! Shoutout to Pokemon Creepy Black btw, I think that was the first creepypasta I ever read years ago- absolute throwback after not thinking about it in over a decade!
im like a full adult now but any time there's like a "cursed" image/video on screen i scroll down and hide ijn the comments lmfao
Me to lol 😂
But everyone will be talking about it! You can't "hide ijn* the comments lmfao"!!!
*in
Thank you Izzzy for letting me finally know where Nathan the Nobody came from.
"If any Bogleech folks are watching, IcyBowser says hello :,)" You mean TheGentlemanlyIsopod says hello.
The thumbnail of this vid with the guy who's face is tinted red just single handedly unlocked a repressed memory. Ah, this video shall be perfect for me about to sleep 😭 I cant help it, ur videos are comforting
Izzy! Your drip in this video is such a cool look! Also, Happy Hallowen 🎃
19:45 I'm almost sure Tails Doll came before Sonic.exe... the Tails Doll being evil started off as a joke before being turned into a creepypasta
i was always a wimp and i stayed away from creepypastas growing up so i'm happy to learn about them through you.
I used to listen to creepypasta readings like podcasts, so this is bringing up some memories
Particularly NES Godzilla keeping me entertained on a treadmill and being so baffled by Happy Appy that I stopped cleaning my room and stared at a wall
I think the Lost Episode entry refers to a story about a person remembering a childhood friend who edited VHS tapes and decides to go to his friend's house when the guy finds creepypastas that are talking about the exact edits his friend showed him
Izzyzz is fucking amazing with their timing 😩🙌
The biggest jumpscare of all time is listening to this as background noise and then hearing the name of your exact location like wtf I'm playing the Sims
Awesome! Was excited for part 2, goose approved
This is the only time a sponsored ad has actually worked on me. Will be downloading Opera as soon as I get home.
