Wildes is correct in the last statement. Mahomes contract is such a crazy contract. Idk if we'll see one like it in the next 10 years
Brady and the Pats set the blueprint for a modern day dynasty and Mahomes and Kelce are out there proving it works. Top talent taking 2nd tier money means a stronger team. The sooner more players/teams buy in, the sooner we see another dynasty. The problem is finding 2-3 players that don't let $$$ cloud their vision.
It's also helpful that Mahomes immediately had the sponsorship opportunities (ketchup on steak got him one) and Kelce now has his podcast going and a media career waiting for him. They're getting paid elsewhere too.
How is money clouding there vision if they have families to take care of yes it’s cool to win a Super Bowl but the number one reason for these players going to the NFL is to get paid everything else is a plus

Burrow couldn't even put up more than 20 Vs KC, and this is considering that Mahomes gifted him the ball by forgetting how to hold on to it, with a chance to make it 27-13. Burrow got the ball back twice at 20-20 and he choked. Burrow can't keep up with high octane offenses. The Bengals playoff success has been due to their defense. 8:02 - Wildes face when Broussard said Russell Wilson 😅
Why Nick do him like that...when Brou mentioned Russell Wilson's name...😂😂😂😂
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe at the time of his signing, Mahomes' contract was the highest AAV. Even Brady had the highest AAV at the time he signed one of his "earlier" contracts (around 2010 I believe). The only way to always be highest paid is to constantly only sign 1 year deals, which is very risky.
That isn’t how that works, 99% of the time you’re going to be the “highest paid” the issue HOW MUCH you’re paid and for how long.
If you’re locked in for a decade, that deal is going to be MASSIVELY undervalued after 4-5 years which is how long most players sign for before getting another after two or three.
I’ll give you an extreme example, if you’re making 150K per year, but you can’t get a raise or get any more money until you retire, it sounds good now and is good money. But will it thirty years from now? I guarantee you people will be making 200k looking at you funny.
The issue with Mahomes contract was the length of it, and everybody knew he would get passed over on AAV in just a couple years and its already happening now. The best contract for Mahomes would be some kind a "% of the salary cap" type if that was possible with the CBA.
@@rickyrobby8133 That is exactly how it works. Short contracts are opting for more money over security. Long contracts are opting for more security over money.
Even if he signed for 4-5 years instead of 10 for the same AAV, he'd still have been the highest at the time, he'd still currently have the 7th highest AAV, he'd only be ONE YEAR into that deal and wouldn't be getting a new deal till AT LEAST NEXT YEAR anyway.
In your example, sure, it would look like less. But what if you were also guaranteed to get paid that 150K every year till you retire no matter what while your coworker was getting a 2K raise every year but with no guarantee? If you both got in an accident 20 years before retirement that left you both unable to work, and you were getting 150K every year while he got 0 per year, your deal suddenly looks a LOT better now doesn't it? Now add to it you work in a job where a high percentage of people get injured and can no longer work.
Mahomes opted for security over more money. His contract is very long and is basically always fully guaranteed for the current year and following year. In return, the team has flexibility to help him build his legacy, which is worth more than the difference he'd be getting by signing a new contract every year. I would also understand if he wanted to sign a new contract every year to be the highest paid, and he'd deserve it. Personally, I would take the security with still a ton of money over the high risk with possibly high money.
@@tigera6 Sure, that would give him the most money while possibly getting most of the security. However, it would make it harder to chase GOAT status and therefore would be harder to get as many endorsements etc. Besides, after making sure several generations after him are set for life, he cares more about his legacy than getting the most possible amount of money.
As a Bengals fan I am praying that Joe take less money. He has the skill and ability to bring this team even in the lower years far, and if he can keep some of that money around to pay Chase and other key pieces then I think it will pay off for him both in legacy and financially in the long run. I am thinking around 45-50 a year, still top tier but not by any means the top paid. Make it a long contract like 8+ years, get a lot of guaranteed money and a no trade clause in there and everyone will be happy
He won't. He'll take what he can get. Like every other QB. In 4 years, it'll look cheaper.

Wow Nick...WHAT A SUIT
The Bengals are in trouble. They'll have to pay Burrow, but they'll have to feed Chase as well. Because Burrow is just a tier 2 QB without Chase.
Stay off the drugs
Mahomes produced like a Tier 3 or Tier 4 QB in that Super Bowl against Tampa a few years back, behind a banged up offensive line. And that was with Tyreek Hill AND Travis Kelce. But last season, he played behind a brick wall all the way to another championship (the Eagles had what was supposed to be an elite defensive front, but they couldn’t get close to him).
Burrow being as great as he’s been behind bad offensive line play his entire career (so far) is a testament to the fact that he’s easily a Tier 1 guy. Elite receivers aside, Burrow’s managed to win everything but the biggest prize without the one thing more important to a QB on the field than great pass catchers (see: great pass protection). Give Burrow time in the pocket like Mahomes just had throughout his latest championship run, and you’ll see similar results.

You should have read my initial comment again. Yes, in that Super Bowl against Tampa, Mahomes WAS pressured more than any QB ever. THAT’S my point. He’d never faced that kind of pressure before, and the result was 0 TD’s to 2 TO’s. I’m not even blaming him, but don’t act like Burrow’s being propped up by an elite pass catcher when Mahomes had TWO of them in SB 55 and STILL produced next to nothing behind a bad, injured offensive line. Burrow’s dealt with bad offensive line play and/or injuries to his linemen throughout this career. He gets the ball out quickly to compensate for it, and there’s less than 8 yards difference per game between he and Mahomes as rushers. Stop making up narratives to support your argument
@brandoncrockett9266 burrow also has an opportunistic defense in his sb run PLUS an RB who out performed him that entire playoff run. Take out Mixon and joe looks bad in the playoffs

The bengals situation is extremely similar to the Celtics. They’ll probably never have as much talent as they had because of the salary cap. They’ve both seemingly overachieved recently in the playoffs, are pushing their chips in for one last championship run, and even their 2 young star players on each team are pretty comparable to each other.
I don’t get the argument that they’ve “overachieved”. They have an elite QB, elite receivers (Chase as an elite WR1, and Higgins as an elite second option), an elite defensive coordinator, strong defensive personnel, a more-than-serviceable run game, and one of the best head coaches. Their one glaring weakness has been a lack of pass protection, which they addressed in large part by signing Orlando Brown this offseason. In hindsight, it makes sense that they’re already this good. They’re just going through the growing pains of a team poised-talentwise and culturewise-to contend for a long time.
They're literally the same. Bucks are the Chiefs. Bengals are the Celtics. Bills are the 76ers.
@@thomassankara1391 No, they’re not. Unless you’re saying that neither team has “overachieved” and that, in fact, they’ve both played at around expectation according to their talent-level. The Bengals are similarly talented, but they’re just getting started. But no, neither team is some underdog punching above their weight. That’s ridiculous.

@@AaronSmith-lr1gw The difference between Allen and Mahomes the past 2 seasons in INTs is 2. Peyton Manning led the league in INTs. You tried tho lmfao
@@zType2 now add in fumbles lmfao you tried again.. keep failing tho lol I got plenty of Ls to give you.
The hot dry east wind blew😅
Nick always talks in definitive until it's players he cheerleads for get talked about then it's all kind of what ifs
Nick is always worrying about what the Bengals are going to do 😢😢
3-0
What are they going to do?
Herbert might have the NFL’s best arm.
hmmmm
Eh no. Pure power josh Allen. Accuracy is mahomes or burrow. He's a stat chaser and struggles with accuracy when the moment hits
@@cstrife999power and accuracy combined is Herbert. He was literally throwing to 4th string WRs last season. Allen, Williams missed so much games and the 3rd WR, Guyton missed the season who was the deep ball and add the OC limited him to check downs.
I don’t know about that one 😊
@@cstrife999Most of your statement is true. But him shrinking in big games. Naaaaaaah! But prove me wrong this coming season though😊
lol tyrod got stabbed😂
So is injuries and bad coaching not a factor?
Nick you need to do Undisputed with Skip!
It’s true Florio has an absurd obsession with the Mahomes contract
I love how nick thinks he’s not throwing Acho under the bus by saying “some of our friends” instead of mentioning him by name
Wyldes when he said Russell Wilson
I don't watch football and I'm from so cal but Bengals have always been my favorite team. Love those striped helmets
Nick from like 10:00 to 10:38 is doing his best Skip Bayless imitation by stuttering and stammering trying to make a point in the middle of someone's argument
I don't remember Florio saying anything when Brady was helping the team and winning all those games
He might be Jeff George
Last year his WR’s were pretty injured all season, as usual with mike and keenan.
Burrow said "my window is my entire career" and then got bounced by Mahomes, a guy with a hurt ankle, who recently said his greatest fear is having regrets at the end of his career. And that's the difference. Joe Burrow is a confident dude who thinks nothing bad will ever happen, but Mahomes knows that every day, every play could be the end, and he *plays like it*.
Burrow is a shmuck. Mahomeboy is way better
Wow what have he done
"That's why they're former"
Nick said this and they were fired again. 💀
Häagen-Dazs as GOAT over Ben & Jerry's is the hottest take of the episode.
Is it the players that are playing the Who gets more money game or is it the agents?
The 2nd half of the playoff game he only had Allen as a WR, and RBs we’re getting negative yards
I said at the time it was the most team friendly deal in the league.
And remember other people saying the Chiefs were cooked? 😂
Herbert = Stafford 2.0
So future HOFer
U😂
@@vincente4570 nothing wrong with Stafford, Herbert will just have to win. Somewhere else. A better built and ran team
@@isaiahh4108 yeah once he gets on a better team. He may win a superbowl even
Windows close for a year or two for great QBs then open again
Borrow is great but lets not pretend that Higgins and chase dont help majorly in getting him to the SB
I agree with Bru. Big Ben has two Super Bowl wins 5 years apart. With all different receivers in the same league with Brady and Manning. Seems like a similar scenario
I thought I was buggin when I seen Nick in Harlem 😂😂 Baby blue Benz truck if I remember right
I like to immediately pause the video and guess how long it's going to take Brou to go full Screaming Toddler. I'd say on this topic, around 2:15. I'll edit later with the verdict.
Edit: well done Brou! I eat my words! I'm excited about being wrong!
