Novel Coronavirus (Viral outbreak of SARS-CoV-2, formerly 2019 nCoV) COVID-19 Respiratory disease.
SARS-CoV-2 (The coronavirus epidemic that causes the disease COVID-19).
This coronavirus (aka SARS-CoV-2, COVID-19, or 2019 nCoV) has spread many other countries over the globe (pandemic).
Coronavirus (CoV) is a single-stranded, positive-sense RNA virus.
Symptoms include cough, fever and shortness of breath (these are called flu-like symptoms).
Other patients may experience runny nose, or sore throat. Some patients may not experience any symptoms. Some cases of COVID-19 are mild, others are severe.
Complications of COVID-19 include viral pneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), severe respiratory distress requiring mechanical ventilation, and even death.

Can you get infected with covid19 if you flushed a toilet where an infected person just finished used and forgets to flush, can the droplets flying in the air when you flushed infected a person???

@@halfmoonplakat2391 Short answer: Yes. Scientists call it "aerosol" transmission. Basically means virus travels to us via small droplets of water. And coronaviruses are tiny: 100 nano meters. So a lot of virus can be in that droplet. There's alot of research on how long coronavirus lasts - it depends on transmission surface or medium (like water). Curiously, on copper surfaces, it can only last 4 hours. Plastic & Steel surfaces, it lasts upto 3 days.

Are the most cases asymptotic or very mild? If so, how far off are the numbers that are given to us?
Also what about the rise in deaths among the people which are in their 40s and 50s, and are there still 0 deaths among mild and severe cases (is it true that only some of critical cases die)?
And also for the next video if you can talk about ace2 receptors that are allegedly found in spermatogonia, leaving men with coronavirus infection sterile after recovery?

All depends on 2 things.
1) intention
2) pcr test which has 97% - 99% specitivity i.e. even if 100 healthy people get tested still the test will claim to have 1 or 2 positive cases.

I've a COVID question.
If COVID is centuries old why is the COVID test only identify COVID 19 variants, even though there are already four different variants (Alpha, Beta, Gamma & Delta).
1. Does the test only identity COVID 19 variants? or,
2. Was COVID already spread around the world, like the common flu, and only detected when the test was shipped worldwide?
50% of closed cases in Italy resulted in death (including 50yo nurses), the same scenario happening in Spain and deaths include a police officer at the age of 37(there is also a 1yo baby on the respirator)but in S. Korea there is only 4% deaths among closed cases, how is it possible ? Also if you can explain usage of chloroquine and Zn for prevention of this disease?
And about a scenario in Italy, okay it has a very old population, but Germany has older population, and still only 68 deaths( among 20000 cases), and Japan with the oldest population in world has 33 deaths(among 1000 cases)
Swine flu and Spanish flu virus are the same but swine flu did not kill that many people and actually targeted younger people...

Best tool against panic is knowledge. Medicosis, if you don't mind answering one question: let's say that for any particular miracle, quarantine stops transmission of the CoV-2, will it eventually "disappear" forever? or will it just be contained until a new outbreak? Do viruses have a "life spam" (I know virus are not live, I watched your previous videos, just don't know what other words to use) :) Thanks
SARS has ended, but MERS hasn't...so, it depends!
How long do Covid 19 test results take? My grandmother was tested and in less than 12 hours they came back with the results demonstrating she was positive. Seems pretty weird to me I would expect the results to take at minimum 24 hrs.

before the outbreak in china about 6 weeks ago i came home from work and i was shaking and felt freezing to the touch. i felt drained dizzy and very tired i also had a tickle in the back of my throat. i went to bed and slept. basically hit the pillow and out. i woke up in the night because of having nightmares and was soaking wet. anyway i got up the same time in the morning for work but when i was walking down the stairs i could hardly breath felt like i was going to pass out and had pains under my armpits. like i say this was before the china outbreak so i went to work as normal and managed to work at the same pace. three days later the same thing happened. the reason i am talking about this is because i dont know if i have had covid 19 or not there is no testing to see if you have had it here in the uk. i am living in a house with my two elderly parents who both have medical conditions and i am worried that i will be the one who has passed it on to them. the uk should be testing people who think they have had it and maybe they will be able to harvest anti bodies or something.
Everyone seemed to be ill around last Christmas ! Could we have had it in the USA then ?

I've got a question. My mother is suffering from corona virus and diabetes and liver inflammation she is middle aged and she is very fatigued when do you advise i take her to the hospital I am quite scared that she gets infected at the hospital.
My hair is obscenely long and as a result touches a lot of things around me(not the floor). I won't cut it but should i braid it to keep it up or completely rap in in something like a scarf. Should I worry about my hair being contaminated?Please note my dad is 75 and has COPD so I must be very careful.

Sir , about HIV medications , you said that is protease inhibitors can be used (may be) for corona virus , my Q why they are not used (or ineffective ) for Corona virus despite both viruses have the same enzyme . Protease in COVD-19 degrade polyproteins into RNA-dependent RNA polymerase , helicase , and NSPs , so if I inhibit these proteins I will stop the virus in one station of its life . So ;again; why protease inhibitors are not used or ineffective??
We still have to wait for clinical trials.
What we are discussing right now are speculations.

Can a COVID-19 mutate? Like let's say can it mutate and infect livestock?
Yes the only reason it can infect humans is because of a mutation. I believe there are in fact two stands (S and L) as well, from a second mutation that allowed human to human transmission. "Don't quote me on this"
@@Camboo10 That's my biggest concern. The longer it takes for researchers to find a vaccine/cure the higher the chance this Corona virus can mutate again and into something worst!
@@yeysbaws I doubt it. It's not like that video game where the mutations give the virus new abilitys. It does mutate but so does flu and although we may not be able to 100% keep up with that, we are pretty good at predicting what's gonna happen, basically the same thing. There are plenty of bad omens from this virus but that's not where I would waste my worry because it wont help anything at this point. Still don't quote me on this though, my background is in public health not virology or molecular biology so I'm no expert, just familiar.
From my researches, different sources state different "mutation rates". Dr Baric (leading corona virus expert US) mentioned that livestock act as a "reservoir" for coronavirus (reservoir means a host for virus to live). He makes interesting point that livestock reservoir can pass it back to human populations, so you're into a bad viral cycle of infection. He also mentioned host animal has not been traced, for coronavirus, so we cant manage that host animal population to decrease infection rate.

My daughter she was staying with my boss parents so the father of my boss tested positive 4 weeks back but he is fine tested negative again he was staying alone in the room my daughter never met that father so after two weeks they went test bcz she must leave to go home 5 people who was staying with my daughter tested negative only my daughter tested positive I just to know is impossible she can be positive and she dousent have any symptoms of corona
