I hope you read this message. I want to thank you for your content. Many years ago when I couldn’t afford a dermatologist, my face was in DESPERATE need of help. I had sun damage, melisma, and acne damage. Your videos save me and thanks to your, I felt more confident. Now, my skin is way healthier and it is in big part because of you. Thank you 🙏🏽
Your sunscreen videos are some of my favorites that you do! I’ve purchased several based upon your recommendations, and I have loved every one of them. As a fair skinned person who is religious about sunscreen use, it’s always great to have a variety of sunscreen options that I actually look forward to using! Thanks again, Renee!
I’m so overwhelmed with the amount of great sunscreen options nowadays. I feel this need to try them all since a high protection cosmetically elegant, good for sensitive skin sunscreen used to be very hard to come by
I love your reviews, especially when you say something would be better/worse for different skin types/sunscreen desires. I'm curious about how the beige latte would treat my skin!
1:41 You’re applying the Latte Beige Skin aqua product to your neck while wearing a white shirt. Does the tint color get on your shirt/collar? I’m concerned about staining my clothes
Great question, i would never do this wearing a proper shirt collar although I've found once the sunscreen dries down I've not had issues with colour transfer when I'm wearing a T-shirt. Its a very very sheer tint.
Omg THANK YOU 🙏 I live in tokyo and have sensitive skin and until recently have really not been able to use anything other than mineral sunscreens or super high end and expensive sunscreens that I order online. Plus my lack of reading Japanese has really kept me in the dark about many cosmetics here. ( except the masks .. I have literally tried ALL of them and have landed on a few I can’t live without) Thank you so much for this vid. I think the Allie will suit me perfectly . So happy I found your channel! ❤
Do you suggest any sunscreens that you can only get in Japan? My american friends are traveling, and I would love for them to bring back Japanese-formula sunscreens for me try. Thank you!!! If I can buy the exact same products online, I won't have a fear of missing out. But any suggestions while shopping in Japan and bringing back gifts... I would appreciate it :) :)
once I tried japanese sunscreen for the face, I did not need to venture further...this is the holy grail for me..every time I experiment w a new sunscreen I conclude that I needn't bother, they work well and they are well priced and totally compatible w foundations and powders. The classic Biore has been my favorite, but bc of inventory issues I tried the tone up ones from Skin Aqua, was really nice (which was a surprise). Nice that you explained what the different colors were for bc I didn't know lol. but your other recommendations sound amazing
Please please please, can you do a comparison of all the SKIN AQUA sunscreens?? I feel like they came out with several new ones and some were repackaged so i dont know anymore which is which. Thank you!
I have been on a hunt for tinted Asian sunscreens with barely any luck. I don't like mineral sunscreens as they leave a cast on me and are drying. So I prefer chemical sunscreens with newer filters like Uvinul A plus, Tinasorb M, Mexoryl and Tinasorb S. Some of my favorites include Beauty of Joseon, canmake mermaid gel, Isntree and skin 1004. However I have a hard time finding a tinted version of Asian sunscreens. Any recommendations?
The Allie UV Facial Gel has been a long time holy grail for me so really glad to see you include it in your favourite list! I'm still trying to find a different brand that could also reach holy grail status so will definitely check out some of the other ones on this list!! (Tried out the aqua skin uv gel, anessa perfect milk and biore aqua rich uv gel heh)
Even though I live in Japan I didn’t know many of these. I usually use a sunscreen by Nivea, I think I’ll give a chance to Biore. Thank you for the review!
Nivea in Japan is sooooo much better than the formulas we get overseas! Been trying to get a hold of their latest complexion enhancing sunscreen but it's been challenging!
Hi and thank you, Renee. Always sharing such thorough coverage on good skincare products 🙌 You look fantastic dear. Great genes, and does make a difference in taking such good care of your skin! I absolutely love when you put any product on your face, and the look back when you smile. So darn cute! Keep it up girl, as you will! ❤
This beautiful lady introduced me to Evy sunscreen and made me buy it. I have never looked back. it's my most favourite suncreen ever since the past 4 years. ❤ Thankyou René. ❤❤
I love your content and value your recommendations (especially for these sunscreens. I need a new one soon lol) Would you do a video on products for body care especially for sensitive skin?
Enjoy watching your videos. It will be really nice if you could mention if these products are cruelty free or not or will be great if you could do a separate video on cruelty free sunscreens or other products. Thanks
Omg 😂 it's like a whole new wishlist if SPFs to try!! These all sound FANTASTIC!! I can't believe I have yet to venture into the Japanese SPF formulas.
Which ones are best for sweat resistance? I mainly use sunscreen while running outside and have noticed my face still getting color because I sweat too much. Right now I use the Rohto skin aqua in the white bottle.
I use the Skin Aqua Super Moisture Milk (in the little blue bottle) and I’ve found it to be fairly good with sweat resistance. That being said nothing is going to be 100% sweat proof. I also hear the Anessa milk is very good for this but it’s expensive
yes i always apply my sunscreen in 2 layers, far better coverage than when I apply in one big glob and have to rub it all in, Uv mirror def works to ensure better coverage! I notice how many spots I miss, mainly around the crevices!
Thank you for another good sunscreen roundup! Apparently, the Skin Aqua Tone Up UV Essence - Beige Latte is no longer available. I was eager to try that one!
Does anyone know of a product like the Kanebo Allie Face Gel without scent? I don’t have oily skin but I need sunscreens that are not too moisturizing because my nose area seems to sweat in the summer heat if I put on any sunscreen that is too moisturizing or thick & I’m allergic to fragrance. Thanks you for any help or advice anyone can give!!! ❤
Thank you for this video and i’m going to try out the Allie cheek UV. I have oily skin and my favorite so far is the Skin Aqua UV Essence Gold. it’s so moisturizing and light on my skin 😊 Could you also recommend a japanese brand tinted moisturizer and foundation for my skin type? thank you.
Great question! I used to be very wary myself until last year when I tried the new Biore and Anessa (Used to mainly use the mild milk version without alcohol) formulations and found them to feel glorious on my skin. I felt no stinging, irritation or dryness infact quite the opposite. My skin felt great. Keep in mind these are formulated to stay on outermost surface of skin, they form a layer. I use them over my moisturizer. During dryer months I will use more creamy sunscreen textures! Always good to patch test first as well as I can only speak to my experience but I am a sensitive, rosacea prone skinner
I stay away from most Japanese sunscreens - unfortunately a lot of them contain Octinoxate which is extremely irritating for me, especially around the eyes. Those of you who find certain chemical sunscreens irritating - always check if they contain this filter (be aware it comes under several other names as well). Some CC/BB creams contain it too and it is still irritating, even though the amounts are smaller.
Skin Aqua used to be my favorite until they ruined it after 2019 by adding green tea which my skin hates…. now I’m using Nivea Japan Super Water Gel, not my favorite, as I preferred how the Skin Aqua made my combination oily skin matte, and was water resistant. But realized my sensitive Rosacea skin doesn’t like alcohol, and Japanese sunscreens are all alcohol, as my face is always red and causes bumps and white heads as well as pustules . Can’t use physical ones as I’m allergic to mineral.
I got the skin aqua sunscreen (the lavender one) last year from a package sent by my aunt from japan and at first try, I hated it that’s why it stayed on my vanity until last month when I tried it again and magically I fell in love! I’m amazed how the lavender one evens out my skin tone. I finished the sunscreen in a month! Definitely will repurchase !
I really do not like the skin aqua sunscreen reformulation as they have lost all the attributes that were great in the previous version. The finish and look became dewy moist and a little shiny. Although it is way more moisturizing than the previous one.
Hi.Can I ask what does Allie sheer ecru smell like?Does it have a strong smell?I have Anosmia,I really want to try it but I’m worried about the scent.Hope you notice.thanks.
How can I get your advice on a skincare regime? Do you allow people to email you? I’m happy to pay for this and your time. Please let me know. Xo thanks
Thanks for your recommendations! I’d love to purchase one, but I care a lot about natural ingredients, or such that won’t harm my skin, body or hormones. Do you have extra information on which one has the most natural formula?🫶🏼
@@gothamista No it has been reformulated.. hv seen some reviews saying its less shiny! D older one made me luk lyk a disco ball so m curious abt d nu one!
Hi! In sunscreens, long-wearing is measured by it's resistance to all the factors and how easily it will rub off. These are about as resistant as sunscreens get with their friction resistance, sweat and water resistance! For the shiseido sunscreens like Anessa, they take it even further with their thermo and water booster technologies whereby the protection gets stronger when exposed to heat and moisture! Ofcourse, I would still be careful to reapply in high activity/exposure situations!
While more Western consumers start to explore Japanese sunscreen options, I find that lately in most Asian markets, consumers are dropping Japanese sunscreens... not even brand specific, people just keep saying to me "no Japanese sunscreens brands please" very interesting!
My caretaker brought me a watery essence biore from Japan a few months ago November they went I think and I had to throw away :( it burned my eyes and made me have break out and like orange peel skin everywhere, kind of weird. Pls stop showing cartoon of you I’m having hives really bad. Bye thank you you requested I write this so go away now bye! Respectfully thank you.
genuinely appreciate when you list which ones have a potential to leave a white cast! helps me to decide if i should get it or not

Skin Aqua in latte beige is very lovely, i have medium neutral skintone. Gives a glowy finish to my skin without changing my skin tone
May I ask where u got it. Seems to be unavailable at Amazon.
