I hate that radio shack closed down. Damn Amazon and online ordering messed it up us DIY techies. I was a regular at my radio shack location. It was so convenient to be able to drive 10 minutes down the road and grab just about any component I needed.
I concur on that we here in Australia used to have a radio shop called Dick Smith and that was a radio and electronic shop you could buy any radio parts for DIY radio techies sad how big corporations have decimated local shops
@@Barnie104 Yup! And Radio Shack was a national chain of stores. About the same time our local Radio Shack closed down our locally owned electronic repair and parts shop closed down. Everyone has gotten lazy not wanting to fix things themselves, ordering online and waiting for it to be delivered. Now that I think about it lost people don’t even have electronics repaired anymore unless it’s something major. They just buy a new one.
Radio Shack's failure to enter the cell phone market and inability to deal with it was their downfall. I have a franchise store near me, but have very little in the way of components. Stereos, security systems and scanners are their forte. There are a couple of good online component dealers, but it's not the same as digging thru drawers of electronics, 15 minutes from home.
I have both also and they are both great. But i prefer the Lincoln. I like the added features such as vox and split etc. And it's just down right sexy. 😁😁😁👍👍
I’ve had a Lincoln for a year now and am very happy, I’ve been told the audio cuts through the garbage and the audio is very punchy , if I had some spare cash I’d buy a 955 as I’ve heard good things about them too , I think you’re review was very fair , good job!
Awesome, Honest clean clear video, Thank you Dave and thank you for your efforts to help your brother and sister radio enthusiast. You are appreciated.
Hi dave thanks for that very helpful, i have the styker 995hbc, lincoln mrk1 and two the mrk1 in my opinion was extremely good back in the day not sure of the others as i haven't used them. Thanks for your help and opinions.
Hello all! I received a lincoln11 plus and I'm happy with it, though still learning the menu and other features, haven't done the 11 meter conversion yet due to working for the tech license so to do ham. I have had friends recommend the stryker for a base as that is what I would use it for. Both radios are fine equipment, price is 100 to 150 difference. 73s!
Ive has a Lincoln for a year and it’s got very punchy audio and out performs radios with a little more power most days, but I’d like a Stryker if I had some spare cash , I think you’re review is very fair !
I believe I would go with the President in the mobile, I really like the Stryker 955 but, my Tundra has a double DIN stereo space and I've got a Pioneer single DIN radio so there's an empty space just waiting to be filled. Being able to clear the space where the Galaxy sits now, over my right leg, would be nice. I am waiting to see how the new Ranger X9 goes before I place my order. So many nice sideband offerings these days. Good times for radio enthusiast!
Have a Lincoln 2+ V3 I bought a couple months ago, and yes it does drop back one channel on some mics. Friend of mine had an old Cobra four pin microphone with electret condenser, 1,000 ohms impedance, and beige/tan colored PTT bar. It would pump the meter really good, and it sounded great, but it would drop back a channel lots. Couple friends of mine that own the same radio I do said the D104 hand mics were causing channel drop backs. I don't own a new D104 now because the PTT switch is junk. Other than using the good sounding stock microphone, a Procomm 4-pin power mic works OK with no channel drop backs. A 4-pin Turner Plus Three works very good with no channel drop backs. Uniden BC645 4-pin with electret condenser works very good too. Using a Uniden 4-pin to 6-pin mic adapter on all the above 4-pin microphones.
I love how my Stryker 955 tells me my battery voltage. All day long with the engine running I see 13.8Volts letting me know my alternator is working. If I shut the truck off it shows 12.6 volts which tells me my batteries are charged perfectly.
@@Fox250R I bet I'll key on you with only 20watts with 955 .. do your research Stryker with key up on a lot radio's out there with only 20watts not at fall power I got 497 at 123 watts just got my 955 today and got general hp40 .. 200watts
The mic issue and simulating dw button when mic is dekeyd can be solved temporarily by spraying contact cleaner into the switch or requesting a replacement mic from president. I got replacement mic for free and in last two years didn't have issues.
I would take the President over the stryker any day. I own both, and I feel that the quality is way better with the President. I have had two 955s and the displays failed on both at some point. One happened after I sold it and the other happened to me, and I bought a new front board for it and it had segments not working. Stryker was very good about sending a front board AND a new face. Since I got it the channel knob and coarse clarifier seem to skip around frequencies when you turn them. I never contacted them about it, but I am sure they would take care of it.
I hate Roger beeps! CB's are noisy enough without having to listen to a Roger beep. As I understand it the Lincoln will work on 10, 11 and 12 Meters even after the conversion.
I’ve had both and the President build quality knocks spots off the Stryker. Stryker has been problematic for many until they revised it. President radios are bang on every time. For me it’s the President.

The Lincoln 2 is a handsome little radio.

I dont own either radio But I have heard both on the air and they sound great.

Do you notice your Lincoln 2 + having excessive noise or static ? Mine gets 5 to 6 lights all the time of just noise.

Once the lincoln has been put into export mode (wide banded) the channel selector can be used in VFO mode..

Which radio do you like better by now? Did you pair an amp with either of them yet?
I have a lincoln and out of the box, the scope shows a clean trace. The clarifier is center and I use a shure dest mic.
I have been using the Stryker as a home base station and the Lincoln is going in the Mobile due to it's memory banks.
Thank you for your help. Much appreciated
Thank you, the video is very informative.
Lincoln arrives this week.
The Stryker wont do CW where the lincoln does and does it quite well.
very helpful thanks

Dave, does the Lincoln come with variable power like the Stryker?
Yes it does
Yes it does rf power turn nubby
For me the quadruple power of 20 watts is 80 watt (to get one more s-level in your example told)
Thanks for the info 👍
What do you think for a trucker between the Lincoln and a 447.
447
I’ve had both and the President build quality knocks spots off the Stryker.

Need a new comparison with the 955hpc v2
Nope. A person needs to spend just five minutes reading.
Thanks for your honesty. Bottom take - does not make a dam.
Can you used D 104 or Turner +3on the Lincoln +2
I use a D104M6B and it works very well....although its very easy to over drive the Lincoln. Just find that sweet spot and you're good to go....
I'd like to know what formula was used as far as s unit calculation !
🤣
Avogadros.
Does the Stryker work 10 and 12 meters?
strykerradios.com/
Yes
? Live in Brick New Jersey do you know a good tech in my location
A 1k 0 ohm resistor? It is either 0 ohm, dead short or a 1000 ohm resistor...
Explain?
He probably meant 1K Ohm resistor at 1/2 watt to 2 watt.
1k ohm.
Put a Turner +3 Desk Mike on the Lincoln and all will be just fine!
955 way better this dude funny
