When you were talking about the price of solder. I remember when it was $2.98 a roll. And that was for the good stuff!

I think a bit of Flux always insures proper solder flow !

@@generalingwer4341 Don't let anyone keep you from doing what you want. I get negative comments on videos all the time. Most of those people can't even tie their own shoes 😂

For me watching someone work is absolutely imperative if I'm looking to learn from it. A lot of times people can explain things to me and I don't understand it but if I see him do it I'm like oh yeah of course!! 😂

I replaced my regulator and mounted it in the back on the right side of the heat sink. It runs way cooler and I mounted a fan on the back. It used to get really hot on the side.

Thats a good idea.u could mount a micro- fan on standoffs.maybe a 40mm fan? Thanks for watching.

Not a good idea to extend the legs of the AM voltage regulator just to mount it somewhere else‼️

I have also just found your channel and subscribed. My Lincoln 2+ gets really hot on the left side, after watching your vid, I now know it's the power regulator. Are these supposed to run hot or is a sign it's going bad? On low power, say 4W and lower it gets hot but takes a bit of time, anything over 4W it heats up really quick. At a guess I'd say the case get's around 50*C to touch? The radio has primarily been used on FM so I assume that's probably stressing it and causing the heat to build up? Anyways, thank you for putting these video's out there for us end users to try to educate ourselves with, you are very much appreciated! :)

Hey thanku for very nice comment id say your absolutely right,im pretty sure its the continous power dissipation generating the heat.meaning fm or am as opposed to ssb useage.thats a beefy regulator, it only has the aluminium side rail to transfer to.ive never noticed that on mine however, ive only used ssb mode.im "guessing" that regulator is probibly dissipating more than just a few watts across its emitter-collector junction.i wouldn't get too concerned but ,u could cross check the input current with a good ampmeter and make sure it's in line for the output power your consuming.thanks for watching!
