I had the same problem on my series 5 but I noticed that theater mode was on mine. I think I accidentally turned it when I was trying to ping my phone. I think you had the same issue because if you try to see on top of the watch when it turns on you can see the Greek theater mask (laughing sad masks) and I think that was the issue this whole tome. You can swipe up from the bottom of the Apple Watch and it should be turned on so just tap it and turn it off and your Apple Watch wrist raise should go back to normal.
Roberto Rodriguez actually I noticed this shit happened again, and you are 100% correct. I think it accidentally goes into that mode and and you can change it by just getting out of it through the watch and putting it back in normal mode instead of mask mode. I saw this happen afterwards a few times. Have not had a chance to made a video
Rauls procedure WORKED, I'm happy. The cleaning of the back of the watch is not the problem but it doesn't hurt to do it. The reset procedure is THE FIX
Its works, but i also discovered that the watch can be in theater 🎭 mode If you swipe up on the watch screen the theater 🎭 icon might be on. Just click to turn off. I realized this after making the video. 🤦
thanks. i had same problem. doing reset makes it work now. It was very helpful. Now when i raise my hand it shows the time. I had to spend 45 minutes for that, but it was worth. I am happy.
The theater thing. Works for me also on my phone. Those mask on the top of the display popped up. Scroll up and just turn off the remote. Thanks for whoever posted that previously
Thanks so much for the post! All I was finding was suggestions for changing orientation and wrist raise setting. Not sure if I was in theater mode but the reboot worked and I’ll check for theater mode if it happens again.
Just to make you aware if you have sleeve tattoos this will effect the wrist detection and always on display. There is currently no fix for people with tattoos, other than to turn off wrist detection. That will fix the always on display however your watch will no longer do automatic heart/sleep readings. Which sucks
I’ve found a fix for this. apparently epoxy clear bottle cap stickers work on tattooed skin under the watch sensor I’ve just ordered some so hopefully will sort this out 🤞
@@ianjones767 I bought something similar and it didn’t work. It really is annoying that they haven’t sorted this. It seems the best way is just to turn wrist detection off
Hi! Sometimes my wrist detection works perfectly but sometimes it doesn’t. It constantly asks me for my passcode even tho I’ve entered it already. For the past 2 days it hasn’t being doing that but after I charged it last night it’s doing It again. It’s not on theatre mode :(.
that is what mine is doing... perhaps it is a software bug with theatre mode or wrist orientation... mine asks me for the passcode so often when it acts up it is hard to even use the watch... the other option is to turn off passcode but stupidly apple will not let you have cards in the wallet instead of simply making it so you need to use the a passcode to open the wallet...
Hello Raul! I did everythig that you pointed out but my series 5 is still not working. Could this be something internal? Did reset, unpair, re pair, set as new watch. Hard reset, cleaned the back, no tattoos on wrist, orientation is correct. Anything else, Im missing, sorry to bother.
I didn’t get notifications and calling alerts when wrist detection is on If I do off wrist detection then all things work fine Why it is And I did all these things but didn’t get solution
my watch sometime acts weird and i can't even change the settings. i usually let it die, charge it back up and everything starts to work. also make sure your watch is not in theater mode. obviously some fixes don't fix everyone's issue, especially if the watch is old and acting weird like mines. i have turned off my wrist detection and it still acts like its on. if you have the setting raise to wake up on , then it will still detect your wrist. not always does one setting completely stop a function on these apple device. sorry it didn't help you out. i am not a tech. i just stumbled on to this on my own, by trial an error. but i also didn't realize that my phone could have been in theater mode. having same issue with brand new series 7 right out of the box first use and the same on the one i returned. works intermittently. though i have a small faded wrist band tattoo it still does not work correctly if i wear the watch so it is not touching the tattoo area.. does the watch not work on colored people... lol... . . i would think that if the heart rate and oxygen works, the wrist sensor should... humourously, sometimes when i raised my wrist instead of lowering it worked fine and it works fine on the other wrist.. so something is wonky with the sensor and software....... as far as i can tell it is a hardware and software issue. .. i am also wondering it the type a band affects it, a looser metal one versus a snug sport type.... i am using a metal on and if i wear it snug, it works better,, but alas, metal does not have semi elastic properties unless you have a certain type...
I have used both bands and it doesn’t seem to make too much of a difference. A Tatoo can affect the watch for sure. I am not sure why. But i did read somewhere that it does sometimes. I definitely had less issues after a few software upgrades.
@@raiderman28 some assembly line tattoo shop inks use metals, the ones on my arm are traditional and use natural plant dyes and should not have any bearing on the sensor, especally since they are now fairly worn and faded and not a full sleeve type. i found i have to wear the watch very snug for it to work correctly and with the metal band that is not as confortalbe.. usually one wears metal banded watches a tad bit loose...
I have a metal band and a rubber one. I had my metal band tight, then removed a link to make it looser and it didn’t affect the sensor. Mines is old and worn and works perfectly fine, but I don’t have any tatoos just some arm hair. You don’t put tatoos on a Ferrari. Hahahahaha. j/k
@@raiderman28 the first one i had for 5 days and returned, it was working only 10% of the time no mater where, no tattoo area, or how tight is was. the second one works fine if it is on very snug on the left side, but will work looser on the right side.. so given this, with the returned one given the same use on the same person, there can be a hardware issue with these as well as software bugs - there seems to be an orientation issue relative to it. if yours is not working, take it in for service or replacement. blaming it on tattoos is lame since 25% of the population has a tattoo somewhere, and most have one on an arm.... so by apple not having a work around it could be considered a form of discrimination - all that would need to be done would be to have an option to disable the wrist sensor for on or off wrist for password while leaving the other functions working, like heart rate..etc...
I am pretty sure you checked to make sure you have it on orientation left arm or right arm but i have to ask, because you can’t assume anything these days. More than likely it’s an issue with there sensors. Just like any sensor, if something is blocking it ( maybe a tatoo, maybe not) it can affect a sensor. But that’s not discrimination. Whether its 10% or 50% of people that have tatoos, if thats the cause, then apple needs to decide if its worth them using a different sensor. Its the same in the car audio field i work in. They don’t make stereo kits or wiring harnesses for every single vehicle out there. There are that 10% of the cars that would cost them too much money to make a kit or harness for, that is just not profitable enough to justify the research and development of the product. Also colored people are not the same as a tatoo. Now thats a discriminating comment, but i am sure you didn’t mean it that way. People of color are not colored with ink , they are born that way. So it would react the same as a tatoo. Now that i wrote all this, this conversation went a completely different way that it was suppose to go. I say if it doesn’t work on you, get rid of it and get a different type of watch.
