Thanks to Roy and Wendy for explaining what the DT Essential Line is. From your descriptions, it's games that the DT ranks very highly AND games that Arcane Wonders can get publishing rights to. If I'm wrong please correct me, but this is the first explanation I've heard in a long time.
Jason is like that friend that you kinda want to come to trivia with because your team will win, but you also don't want to come because he knows all the answers and makes it not fun for everybody else
Agree. Even though I do not personally agree with most of Roy’s tastes, I really do appreciate the variation (and the unknowns that I would not even have considered!)
Actually, the time signature of the Dice Tower theme now varies quite a lot (I really like all the variations). The one for this video is 12/8 (or a 4/4 very full of triplets). The original version is a 3/4 with a swing feel, very cool. The gag still made me smile, though 😄
Great Picks! The top game I would like to try is Western Legends. It seems like it has that 'West World' theme where you can get into character. and I would like to try Return to Dark Tower since we played the original. I have Crusaders but we have not had a chance to play it yet, so it just bumped up near the top. I saw someone else playing Century Spice Road, and it looked fun. I don't like always like auctions but I liked the chip choice mechanic in Furnace. Antiquity looks intriguing! Asymmetric goals a plus! I would like to play the Crew again. We played it with advanced players and did not yet get what they already understood.
@@DTWendy We played Crusaders: Thy Will Be Done and really liked it! We liked its hybrid take in building up all the infrastructure. The Mancala board works well. A plus for high production quality with solid tangible pieces. Another plus for the color scheme. I actually liked how they combined all the Knight orders into one game for replayability. We plan to play again this week!
Wendy Yi, antiquity is fantastic I do not really like Food Chain Magnate either. Antiquity is a top 10 game for me. It is heavy and a bit fiddily, but it is along the line of Uwe games. I get so mad that FCM is what people think of Splotter games when Antiquity is more along their lines.
I thought I would like "San Juan", but I was very disappointed by it. Even "Race for the Galaxy" is better. Also, using the cards as resource tokens is not a feature. It's just saving production costs. Honestly I find it cumbersome to use cards as resource tokens and would use some other resource cubes or something in the appropriate colors when I'll play those games again.
I do love the digital version of San Juan, sadly it recently stopped working on my phone.. The cards as resources always bugged me too though, I hope a new version will be released with new art and proper resources.
@@DTWendy What I *do* think is quite interesting about it, is the fact that it creates some unpredictability to the draw deck. I.e. you don't know whether a specific building will come out *at all* during a run through the deck, it might have just been used as a resource without anyone seeing it. It's one of those hidden features of a game that you don't really notice the first few times you play, but it becomes a factor when you have a fixed strategy in mind as you've become better at the game.
San Juan is so great mechanically and a great distillation of Puerto Rico... but... it's just so so dry. Not just the theme. The fact cards are money just makes it dry. I pay cards, I get cards, what have I got?Cards! Yes, the points on the buildings you build and the building pace is the goal. But everything in between is just... the moving around of cards.
Dominion...San Juan...Spice Road. Man that’s some really bland dry games. Kinda amazed people can rate this stuff higher than Radlands, Tokaido, other games with a lot more theme and dynamic ideas. Those old euros put me to sleep. You really think Dominion is better than the StarWars deck builder? Really?
I'm playing a drinking game where I take a shot every time Jason tells Roy that he "would like this one" when he absolutely wouldn't.... I'm trashed 🥴

Yes, they are games Tom specifically picks to partner with Arcane wonders to reprint.

Love that Hammer of the Scots made your list! I have loved it for years.
Really pleased to have Roy and Wendy in the same top 100 to have those very contrasting views.

Roy : Antiquity - “Is this a prototype?” 😅
Sad but true.... I also own and love the game - wish I could design and print a deluxe version of it with new art and components :) 😮😮😊❤🎉
Antiquity is an absolute genius design! Those haters don't know what they're missing!
Jason taking credit for predicting the success of games is a choice.
Jason, thank you for keeping Dominion in your top fifty games of all-time.
Sincerely,

Mosaic and Western Legends are both such incredible games. Great choices, Roy!
I agree with Roy. I hate stay cool. That game does not deserve to be on anyone's top 100 list😂
I get the feeling Roy and Jason like a lot of the same games !
Great Picks!

I'm glad our 3 lists spoke so strongly to you...also yes please play Crusaders and then respond. Wendy, Thy will be done.

Way to go Jason. Antiquity is one of the best games out there. As any other Splotter is very unique and clever.
Jason every game “I love this game”.
Also Roy: I had a blast playing this game. I really enjoy this game.
Cool shirt Roy

Cool, now all I need is a solid chunk of time and someone to teach it.
Birthday buddies with Roy! May 25th here too!
Jason: yesSSS
Wendy, you are correct about welcome to. as well as welcome to the moon.
We're all the things I heard about Welcome to Vegas also correct?

I love the frugality with cards as resources. Oh my goods does the same thing.

And that's what I lobe about it. It's all cards 😊
Wendy, funny enough 42 is a simultaneous turn game.
@9:51 Wendy losing interest fast.
I've heard about hero clicks a ton from Roy. It really clicks with him but probably not with me :)
Jason has the same birthday as my wife. Tom and I share a birthday. Small world
Dominion... is not that good of a game.
Play Arctic Scavengers instead.
Dominion...San Juan...Spice Road. Man that’s some really bland dry games.

I bet you’re an absolute joy to be around in real life.
