Suggestion: modify the game table by removing the side of the table that blocks the camera shot from seeing the board. That way viewers can see the game board during the wide shots and not have to wait for an overhead shot to see it.
Thanks for the video, this game is ace. It's strange that a lot of people are comparing it to D&D... Probably the word 'Dungeon' in the title. This is a board game. If I was going to compare it to a pen/paper style RPG, wouldn't WHFRP be closer in tone? Honestly, I'd rather play this than either of them. Less complicated, more fun/punk/metal/slime! The combat is especially great. Very satisfying. Also, no DM, so you can play it solo if ya got no mates!
So I enjoyed this. I want more of this (because I can't always watch the steams). I don't care if this isn't TableTop (It's NOT coming back, Wil doesn't wanna do it anymore), this is the next best thing. Aw, it's not as quality as TableTop? No shit! They sit there and play games, no need for big budgets and it highlights a game I probably would never have picked up originally. Keep it up.
Tabletop was a show designed for RUclips, while Game the Game was designed for Twitch and Chat interactivity.
True, but I'm glad they put these up for us on RUclips so we don't need to scour their Twitch to find them (or for those with busy schedules that can't sit down to watch a livestream)

I miss Table Top, but this was still a lot of fun- even the horrendous accents (Bog Phillip Conjurer was great). I actually love the game’s concept and went out and ordered it from Goblinko!
Hopefully Game the Game tackles more adventurous games like this in the future!
I understand that showing combat increases the length of the video, but I'd personally rather see the whole thing rather than skipping forward. Still, great vid!

I'm late to the party, but I played my first game yesterday and as far as I understand the rules, the Hand of Doom oooonly moves when the dangerlevel of a location, that is already at 6, would be increased again.
Funny voices are only good in small doses. Remember Jar Jar Binks.

I wish games had random editions from Paul Ramano or Paul Booth that are the same game but Metal versions. Some games would be more consumable if they weren't so cute. This looks like a White Zombie cover and I'm here for it.
This game is awesome and is meant to be played by everyone. Not everyone plays D&D. This is also cheaper than buying a bunch of books, miniatures, dice, starter set etc. D&D isn't bad but at least there is a cheap alternative where everyone can play. The board game makes it where you can play each mission individually or do a campaign.
It's a shame that people are only complaining about Will Wheaton's Table Top and not talking about this great game.
Well cheap alternative to DnD is still DnD tho. I mean you can literaly play DnD for free...

Also, I do feel like Wil was able to imbue more character into this show. That's really what this is missing. The energy and exciteming passion. It feels kinda dry, and not very invigorating. At least for me.

The game is not comparable to Dungeons & Dragons - it is its own deal - it's not alternative to D&D - if anything - it's related to early Warhammer - but that's too easy also.

He quit. Nothing to do with twitter. After Geek and Sundry was sold to Legendary and they hid tabletop behind a paywall for like two months, will didn’t want to make another season. He didn’t like how people who paid got the content sooner

TT is tied to Will. Will opposed Alpha and its BS. So they can't have TT without admitting he told the execs to screw off when they did the Alpha deal. IIRC limiting content to a paid subscription wasn't supposed to happen when they sold GaS and the execs did it anyways over Wills objections.

Reminds me a lot of Talisman, and not in completely favorable ways. That being said, I have a morbid fondness for this kind of game.
Love the artwork and game style, but holy moly there’s just way too many components for my taste!
I made it 13 minutes before the accents made me stop... I can't listen to that for another hour.

Accents started to get annoying at the 15:00 part.
Becca is so infinitely better then will Wheaton when it comes to rules explanations and gameplay personality (she actually acts like she wants to be there and enjoys playing the games and Will seemed ‘crabby’ the last season or two). Not to mention whoever’s picking the games to play is much more of a gamer. Some of the simplistic games that TableTop played were not made for true board gamers just casual players. I enjoy this new format wayyyyyyyy more !!
Great game but skipped over some of the rules in the game for the sake of expediency. The artwork takes some getting used to cause all the colors on the board have different meanings.

Tabletop always has a break between seasons while they plan new games and raise funding and such.
Table Top is gone. Legacy killed it for Wil Wheaton. He plays nice publicly but he is done with the show.

Pretty sure "Win back double your wager" means if you wager 3 you get 6. Not get back your wager....What would be the point? If you lose you lose you wager, if you win you gain nothing.
It's too bad that the players are trying too hard to be funny and end up appearing unnatural and sometimes even uncomfortable. The accents are horrible and making the video really hard to watch.

I miss tabletop. I'm sorry, but this doesn't have the same feel of excitement or passion. It feels kind of rather dry. And you can feel them trying to, but it doesn't have the same excitement behind it.

Bryan Smith Huh, that I did not know. My reason for subbing to G&S is because if critical role, and the only other 2 series of their that I really enjoyed was Tabletop and Escape. But I haven't seen most episodes yet. I'm up to date on campaign 2, and on episode 10 of campaign 1. So that sounds interesting, thanks for the info

this...isn't like table top at all. there is no gaming here. there is a group of people show casing a game and going through a script or...whatever this is, but no one seems to be playing. There is no excitement, I don't think anyone was actually having fun and everyone tried too hard to just represent what kind of just feels like an infomercial for gaming...
So boring, tabletop was actually entertaining.

you know instead of playing this game, why not just play Dungeons & Dragons its a lot less complicated.
Right?! It's incredibly baroque, but you don't RP and you can't customize your character. I honestly don't know how the developers thought this was a good idea.
D&D's rulebook (not counting the DMG) is almost 8x the size. Also D&D requires someone to be a DM and do actual prepwork & adjudicate the game. Being able to play an entire campaign in one sitting in DD that would take a year in D&D is a nice bonus.
If you want complicated, though, you may as well play Pathfinder. Because it's basically the same as D&D, but a bit more complicated (oh the costs of more customizability), and results in a more interesting game than boardgames such as this, no?
Sure, if you just play D&D as murderhobos who want to get railroaded by the DM because "screw the story, we've got swords", then yes, this is more efficient.
Za'chary Westbrook Actually, that's one thing I've noticed watching critical role in regards to Pathfinder and DnD. 5e is a fair bit better for roleplaying, as it is less rule heavy. (Also can be in some ways better for fluff, especially with things like drawbacks or quirks. Less penalties on that sort of thing).
Pathfinder is better optimized for things like combat and, well, roles in general (way more modifiers to skill checks, DCs, and many other roles), and most of its fluff comes with bonuses or penalties.
More reference rules, too. I guess cause it aims for more realism than 5e. (Minus the, uh, magic). Not as optimized for for roleplaying, but you can still roleplay quite well. (I like the increase in race and class options, as well as the massive well of tests, equipments and spells, personally).
And this game....this seems to be complexity for the sake of complexity.

Sorry, this just isn't hitting it for me. Terrible accents, flat banter, bad editing.
1. Most of the "funny" table talk fell flat for me. It felt like everyone was working really to be entertaining. A more relaxed and sincere vibe would improve the show a lot. (Part of me thinks no one was actually enjoying the game. It doesn't look fun.)
2. Some of the accents are walking an iffy racial line. Veered just a little too close to Quentin Tarantino being interviewed on BET. Your regular voices are lovely.
Maybe it all feels flat because of no uplifting music in the background... At least that's the thing I found the most odd, being ušed to it from time to time in TableTop.
Honestly the game is fine, but WAY too complicated for a tabletop-style setting. They want to be funny but the game is genuinely tough to keep track of especially on a first play. And yes there are cuts for rules stuff (like, it's not live) but I think it doesn't give a good set up for communication in the way the show needs.
I really wanted to watch this game being played, but the horrific "english" accents made this unbearable.
The rule book paper and card stock does not look durable.
I might have a small crush on Becca. I would ask her out. Also...I like that Game the Game seems to try to play by the rules, unlike Tabletop (which I still love).
