    If you squeeze the rear pulley on the transmission and place the belt down in the pulley it makes the assembly a whole lot easier because you get slack on the front variator pulley so the belt doesent get pinched.

    Hello. Most of the videos regarding the variator on the GY6 seem to mention the clutch end but not the variator shaft replacement or installation. I have a 150cc go cart with, I believe a long case. Can you briefly explain what the replacement of the shaft entails. Whether complete engine teardown, removal? I don't believe that the shaft is the actual angine crankshaft in that the alignment shows different. The replacement shaft is straight.

    The installment of the front pulley wasnt done properly, u are soposto install the rear one with the belt squezed towards the center so it will be free on the front pulley.
    Because when u torqed the front pulley u squshed the belt and that will prevent you torqing the nut propely or even worst the pulley will fly apart.
    Aside from that i really enjoy your videos.

    • @Peckadelic
      @Peckadelic Год назад

      Any chance you could elaborate on this? I'm doing this upgrade this week and I dont wanna risk drive belt blowing apart when i go riding over the weekend.
      Do you mean with the rear pulled pushed in? Not sure what you mean to allow for slack in the front

    • @magnum357225
      @magnum357225 Год назад

      @@Peckadelic You need to open the back pulley to allow the belt to go more in towards the center which will create more slack to fit the front pulley properly.
      Because when u go to tighten the bolt of the front pulley without having some slack on the belt you will be squeezing the belt and it eather wont tight proper or can damage the belt.
      Now this is the way i do it, but to each their own.
      Hope this helps

    • @666BloodEagle
      @666BloodEagle 4 года назад +1

      just do the clutch springs. the tighter big spring kept me from getting top speed. dont tighten the variator on the belt like he did. sqeeze open the clutch and the belt will hold it open leaving slack on the variator for proper metal on metal tightening. lighter variator open easier with less force so even lighter weights may be needed for max torque and speed.

  • @user-neo71665

    Your gonna burn that clutch up faster with the red clutch springs. On a scooter they are ok but on a buggy leave the factory ones in there and only change out to the torque spring to a yellow one. If it saves ya any headaches most of us run 12 gram rollers or 10/11 gram sliders. On a buggy factory is 14. Judging by the factory varatior it wasn't tuned because the belt waer wasn't anywhere near the top. When you get tired of replacing those rear bushings once a year the thing to do is cut them off and put heim joints. They last a lot longer.
    If ya need any help I'd suggest checking out buggynews.com or buggymasters.com. There are a few of us that run, tune, and race these little buggys.

    when you go with red clutch springs, you need to go with the red driven pulley spring as well or your belt will start shifting before the clutch engages and reduce your "stall" torque.
    everytime you change the clutch springs you need to match the driven or put a heavier spring on the driven.

      The rollers control the shifting

      So if I were to use the yellow 1500 torque spring...then I would have to change out the clutch springs to yellow as well?

      The clutch springs control en engagement of the centrifugal clutch. you want Equal or softer centrifugal clutch springs than the secondary clutch. because if you put hard springs on the centrifugal and soft spring on the secondary, the secondary will start to shift before the centrifugal clutch engage, reducing your take off power.
      You should start bone stock with a red secondary spring. Then if you need more initial torque, reduce the primary weights a bit but not too much because you will cause more slippage on take off wich will heat up your belt.
      Then if you need even more take off, go with yellow or red centrifugal springs. But be aware when you do red springs of the centrifugal, you allow more slip before movement and you risk to burn the clutch if you're too hard on it.

      @@ProbeGT2 thank you alot sir. You have widened my knowledge on these cvt's.
      Just last night I have ordered the 1500 yellow spring with yellow centrifugal springs to match. I have also ordered the 115 variator with 10gram slides.
      Thank you again for such a fast reply.

      Not for these. 180cc is the biggest for a A case engine. You need a B case engine for the 231
