Yerf Dog GY6 Axle Install + Thrash!

  • We finish assembling our cheap Yerf Dog Spiderbox GY6 go kart and take it our for a ride! The 150cc GY6 engine is actually really impressive for only 150ccs, and the Spiderbox chassis is really beefy, and performs pretty well offroad. We had to move the position of the sprocket on the axle, and because of the weird diameter/steps in the stock axle, we had to swap to a go power sports 1" live axle kit. It turned out pretty well!

huge gy6 aftermarket. it's what all the chinese scooters come with. and what people drop into the honda ruckus when they stretch em out and go 150cc instead of stock 50cc. this is really generalized, but to give you an idea... most of those chinese scooters do about 50 - 55 mph out of the box. a couple hours and a couple hundred bucks and they'll do 70ish+. you can go even way farther than that, but just like the predators... it starts to get exponentially more expensive. the best bang for the buck is in the drop-in 171cc kits that don't require case boring or oil/water cooling. have fun guys.

True story When I was a kid, my Dad bought me a brand new Chinese buggy just like that. It looked awesome in the pictures and the description had a lot of good things to say. After waiting a few months for it to get shipped, assembling it and finally driving it. I was extremely disappointed. I was 15 back then. From there it just started falling apart. starting with the wheels, electrical, and cvt. Reliable motors I do have to say, but everything else is trash. I learned my lesson, and bought a KX250 instead for half the price.

What I done to wake up my buggy. 26mm carb, ditch the factory intake and put a 12 inch long 1.5 inch pipe on it with a uni filter on the end. You will have to rejet it. 11 gram sliders in the variator. Yellow torque spring in the clutch, leave the factory clutch springs. A11 cam. I built my own header pipe but the factory one is restrictive as crap. Go at least one inch to a little motorcycle muffler. I have 23 inch tires on my buggy but drive it all over the place off road and it tops out at 40mph.

For these engines, there is everything to make a 250... Or more.... On the front pully the shaft sleeve... If you shorten it 1-2 CM it allows it to even grip more on the belt side..... And the clutch. There are little spings.. They come in all different types of strengths.... Also allows the clutch to grab even harder..

I put 22' Mud lite tires on the back. Went muddin with it. Big fun. Upgrading the front wheels to use 8' rims instead of 6.

My gy6 lost all compression a while back. I ordered a new one from a site called Buggy Depot. I ordered it March 8th. It still claims its set for production. I’ll give it another month because I want to trust this company but a fair warning for them. They’re delivery times aren’t good depending where you live

BMI KARTS has suspension upgrades for this kart for front end as well as adapters to put ATV wheels on which will allow you to put on much bigger tires. Of course then you'll need to put on a bigger sprocket to keep the torque it has.

if you want a shit load more power in this bastard and still keep it quiet throw a top performance trophy 70ccm cylinder at it along with a malossi multi-vario with 7.2g rollers, put a giannelli go exhaust on it, keep the stock carb with a 110-120 nozzle, maybe a little lighter filter to allow a bit more airflow also. this setup sounds 100% stock but pulls all the way from the buttom rpm to the top! you might want to change the stock clutch to something a bit more gribby too :P

The trick my grandpa taught me to get bearings out of blind holes like that was to pack the area where the shaft goes with grease and then tap the shaft in with a hammer or clamp. The grease would theoretically push out the bearing. Cant tell ya how many times that tricks saved me!

put your socket on the extension the other way around and you will have more flat area to drive in the bearings, it works with 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 3/4, and 1 inch!

I noticed that with all the welding you guys do it is always crunchy. It's never a smooth buzz. Check your welding wire. It may be to thick. Try going down to the next smaller wire and tip...

Performance parts for gy6 engines are super cheap. That’s a 150cc. You can get a 171cc bore kit dirt cheap, performance camshafts are dirt cheap, and the same goes for carbs with these things. You could easily get another 5+ horsepower out of that engine

They sell tons of aftermarket things for this yerf dog spiderbox gx150. Go to buggy Depot online they have a lift kit for the front it comes with new spindles and ball joints to re enforce the front end then it comes with front 4x4 bolt pattern hubs allowing you to put Atv tires and rims on the front and you can then get bigger coils for up front I got a 3 to 4 inch lift out of mine. The rear should already have 4x4 bolt pattern hubs you could take the atv tired off your project fourwheeler In your other videos and slap them on the back no modifications required! As far as the engine goes just some basic mods you can upgrare the carb to a larger carb that has bigger injection needles you can get a new cdi box that roves your rev limiter and also get a high performance ignition coil and spark plug. I've built several of these if you need any info on where to source these parts or info about the kart in general let me know I would love to give some information!

Hey guys. I learned from a fellow youtuber Chris Fix that you could press a bearing out by stuffing the inside with bread and grease, and then using a 3/8" extension to press the grease and bread inside. You keep adding bread and grease until the bearing pops out. I just wanted to bring that up because you could of did it pretty much for free instead of buying a special tool

Same motor as a ruckus I think????The gy6. And those can do 60mph with all kinds of aftermarket stuff

  • @wheeln24-79
    @wheeln24-79 5 лет назад

I think these motors might be the same that are in Honda Rukus scooters. Look up scooter parts for performance parts. I think there's whole websites full of parts. Jack Cecil on RUclips is really into scooters he built one and it seemed to have really good power. I think he had one that did like 70mph. That's on a scooter though so totally different than this but should be easy to find parts to mod it out as far as you want.

If you put 4 wheeler knobbies on the back of that you would have more speed and also it would off road better. Also add a little ramp onto the front and put sheet metal on bottom of ramp. It will help gett over stuff somewhat. Thats what i did to a gocart i built years ago. I hit well over 35 and from a standstill could just pull the front wheels off the ground. I road mine through a mud course and never got stuck with the knobbies
