  • Cameron Vaughan expected to see the teenager convicted of raping her sent to prison. However, she was horrified when Judge Robert Adrian quashed the guilty verdict and set him free. The 18-year-old suspect, Drew Clinton, was found guilty of rape by the judge. However, the judge later announced that he was reversing the verdict and found the accused rapist not guilty. After a public outcry, he was removed from the bench. Inside Edition’s Ann Mercogliano has more.

If you look at why the judge overturned his ruling, additional evidence came out after the trial, before sentencing, where the victim supposedly told people that she had a pillow pushed on her face when she woke up, but she was able to push Clinton away before anything sexual occurred. She supposedly told her father she was not raped.
The problem is the prosecution only went with the rape charge. They did not charge sexual assault or even simple assault. You can't convict a person of a crime beyond a reasonable doubt if the victim goes around after the trial and tells people the crime didn’t happen.
For prosecutors: Charge everything you possibly can and hope one of the lesser included offenses stick.
For victims: keep your mouths shut. Especially if you win. Anything you say can be used on appeal.

Lot of strong opinions based on a 2 minute clip that is quite biased against the judge. My personal bias is heavily towards the girl, but there's clearly much more to this story than this 2 minute clip provides. Like most MSM, the clip is well designed to provoke an emotional response, but not good at informing the viewer.

If the kid was found with some pot, he not only would have gotten more time, the conviction would not have been reversed.

What a disgusting judge, he feels sympathy for the rapist, not the one who got raped.

So why wasn't a jury involved? Thought we were supposed to be judged by 12, not 1.

the accused has a right to a jury trial, he doesn't have to have one he can choose a judges verdict

“ put herself in that situation “ because the judge is a rapist and has done this himself.
