I am not a hair stylist, but through the years have cut my own hair. I did this cut today at home by myself. I have thin, wavy hair, and wear it straight often. It took maybe 15 mins and I was done and it turned out beautifully. I did not use the thinning scissors. I cut straight across but cutting away from my face and then did the point cut in to make it look wispy. It looks like it was done professionally. Thank you so much for this tutorial. You saved me a good $100. Super easy, super quick and excellent results!❤❤❤
@@arte7solHow'd it go for ya? Have you tried it yet? I did exactly as he instructed in the vid, and then thinned out the ends by point-cutting. It was indeed, super easy and decent-looking even if you use regular scissors.
Easy instructions. Thank you. I am cutting my girlfriends hair as she is undergoing radiation treatments. I pray it makes her look & feel so much better about herself.
I think the three pony tail cut is a game changer for long hair that needs shape. This would look wonderful on someone who has really thick hair. Good job. Thanks for the tutorial.
As someone with medium length, thick, slightly wavy hair, I agree. I've tried the two-pony tail cut before, it looked off and needed extra attention to shaping and thinning. But sectioning the hair in threes and doing it as he has instructed (even with regular scissors) REALLY made the result more decent with about 5 times less effort.
I am 55, I have cut my hair recently, trying out different ponytail methods, this is by far the best, getting my hair even when putting in sections is the hardest “part”. I use a wall mirror, bathroom vanity mirror and a rat tail comb…I cut straight across each end section and then I thin the ends out…if you don’t thin the ends out by point snipping your ends will look blocky/choppy. I don’t like that look, I like blended layers. The end result is really flattering to my face, like I have a double chin and middle age spread on my face and this cut is very good for me, it actually brings out my cheekbones and my hair doesn’t look too structured or formal, I like softness and movement and this has it all. I am bookmarking this one, as I will definitely be doing it again. Just make sure you have the right tools (they need to be sharp!) and you have at least two mirrors, I have a wall mirror that swivels out and it helps a lot when looking at the sides of the head and part of the top to check for evenness. Try this, if done correctly , it will fall perfectly and you will save so much money too with just a little time and patience!
This is great to hear! I'm going to give it a go. I'm nervous because I have waist length thick wavy/curly hair. I'm also a bit scared and trying to decide if I should upgrade my scissors first. It sounds kinda crazy but I have thinning shears for grooming my standard poodle and was considering trying those on an inconspicuous section to see if it would work.
I’ve been trimming my own hair for about 1-2 years now because stylists kept cutting off too much when i was trying to grow it out. I have fine, wavy/curl medium length. Today i tried this and the only difference i did was make the 3rd pony tail a little longer than the second one to keep my length. But very happy with it!! Thank you. It gives it alot of flow then having only one layer
What I love about this method is that the layers blend really well. No need to point cut around the hair. You just need to blend in the front. I thinned 30% to maintain some weight but it took out the bulk. Blow drying using the Bondi blowout brush is super easy and quick now. Looks like I just walked out of the salon. Thank you! Best tutorial.
I did this this morning only I have mature hair so I blunt cut it and did a little point cutting in the ends. It turned out absolutely fantastic !!!!!! Thank you !!!

used this to give myself some extra layers as got a haircut that was too boxy and just kinda went through with the thinning scissors not too much really randomly over each chunk of hair and it looks fantastic. took 5 mins
I did this on my hair in 15 mins and used all 3 of his cutting techniques with the 2 different sheers, because I have thick hair. I cut the front pony about an inch below my chin using the twist technique to give a curved curtain bang, the 2nd pony I over directed it to front one straight out from the forehead but lifted them up to a 45-degree angle and cut it at a 45 angle from the bottom using the 1st pony as the guide. for the 3rd pony I brought the 2nd straight up from the head and connected with the 3rd, it only took about 1.5 inches from the 3rd ponytail, leaving most of my length. once again because my hair is thick, I went back through and did deep point cuts into each ponytail to help soft the lines even more. When taking down the ponytails to check the length it was straight and there were no long disconnected layers at the bottom that needed to me trimmed like over directed ponytail cuts. When I tell you that after I washed, blow dried, and styled my hair...it has NEVER looked this good after leaving any level salon! I will forever us this technique!!!! my hair is naturally a 2C/3A curl, and my hair looks so good natural, straight, worn as a blowout, hot curled, and even in a ponytail low or high. I LOOOOVVVEEE this cut. I wish I could post pics!!!!
All the cuts should be cut to the same length. I've seen people use an object to gauge that amount so it's the same but you're still going to need to blend it
I have never cut my own hair before and I followed this tutorial today with my sister's help. I have thin medium length curly hair. It was super easy and quick and it turned out great! Thank you for this tutorial.

Think '60's Shag hair cuts. Just layers, with No thinning! Most people today don't have thick hair that is all one length. If it's thin to start, this cuts not for you. Try instead, Angle around the face and back, with long side bangs. Add mousse for volume or large rollers. Use round heated curling brush or iron to curl sides away from face. Lift bangs up and back with curling iron The Angle Hair gives a layered look with fullness. It Works!!
I am going to try this, I just purchased shears from Amazon. I know Amazon are not going to be the best but I am not a professional and I haven’t cut my hair in years (like 25 or more). I will update when I get the shears from Amazon and do the cut!
