Love it ... Ms spender.. I just got to say .. I love you the way you explain stuff . The way you talk a out things with a passion.. thank you . I have a musician/ songwriter story.. that's on a true note... PS would you please sing.. on the piano you light up my life ... I'm forever in debt madam..🦅🎼🦅
Karen Carpenter once said, "The money's in the basement." She meant that her fans loved when she sang in her lower register. I always think of that when I hear you sing.
Agree. I love Mary's work, but have to admit the falsetto/head-voice grates on me a little... the lower register has a warmth and sometimes (to borrow a guitar term) an edge-of-breakup quality that is delightful. Nice cover though.
OMG! Mary Spender and Rhett Shull... two of my FAVORITE musicians... together... singing one of the greatest songs ever written. Oh. Wow. This. Is. Awesome.
Fantastic! It couldn’t be anything less with Spender and Shull. Shull has a sixth sense for finding the seam between ethereal and diatonic scale. Mary has a beautiful voice. On her guitar she played a perfect accompaniment to her vocal and Rhett’s lead lines. I’m very impressed that they accomplished this live.
Just goes to show what two hard-working pros who love music, can do in their spare time. A new and delightful take on an old favorite, but with more heart and soul!
Absolutely spectacular in every way. You have to watch / listen to this several times to be able to take it all in. Such complicated simplicity. Stunning. Totally Stunning.
@JOH no insult intended, but you must admit few covers reach the level of the original, especially a classic like Take It Easy. Mary & Rhett took this a notch above.
I could not agree more. Mary’s lower register is truly special and beautiful on the ear. Her upper register not so much and often spoils her performances.
I was so hoping Mary and Rhett would get together while she is visiting America! This is fantastic! This is my favorite cover of "Take It Easy"! Yall ROCK! Slide that thing Rhett! Beautiful!
Two of my favorite RUclips guitarists and one of my absolute favorite female vocalists, period. If you start a band, I will quit work and follow your tour. Be well my friends.
I love Mary's voice. The cadence of her singing catches me off guard in this. The sound of the SG that she is playing is perfect for this tune. Rhett's tone was quite bright and didn't quite sit right with the dark sound of Mary's guitar and her full and deep voice.
It looks like you have a Leslie stuck in your throat, what a vibrato, it seems to spin!! incredible the wide range of voice with that soft and controlled bass, what a pleasure to have ears to be able to listen to these artists. thank you!!
There is some kind of poetry in seeing and listening this, while the video just under it is the collab with Rick Beato, showing "This isn't easy" on the screen. Great cover !
Jackson Browne still collecting royalties from this one...and in the meantime he can continue making really great singer songwriter albums full of depth and poetry and resonance. Great job Mary and Rhett! This song is perfect for a slide style like you sporting here.
Truth. Jackson Browne is a national treasure and deserves to have that acknowledged. I submitted him for the Kennedy Center Honors a few years ago. Nicely done Mary and Rhett!
That was excellent. I love Mary’s vocals on this rendition. The guitar playing by both of you is great. I’m also a fan of slide guitar and it certainly sounds great on this song. Great job by both artists.👍👍🇨🇦
Wonderful voice; I like that chesty, robust timbre. Nice contrast with the David Lindley-like fills in a stark arrangement that conjures the vastness of the American Southwest.
Slide tone and phrasing are stellar. Agree with the comment that Mary has a great low register and then modulates to higher register later. Holds the "hmms" for an impressive amount of time.
YOU CAN DO NO WRONG IN MY BOOK!!! You are incredible! Can You handle that? Really? Do You know what You do to people? As a former A&R Man at Capital Records 71/72, and the owner of the Music Connection in NYC, I have played on, sang on, arranged, and Produced many records, about 75, (see Richie Grasso on Discogs to Verify) I would have signed You in a New York minute! Keep going Mary, my heart is full having heard your Voice! Bless You, Bless You, Bless You! RMG
I was a little bit worried about this as I am a BIG BIG Eagles fan. But not shamed to admit I should have had faith that you and Rhett would do it proud. Great job 👍🤛
I've stood on that corner ( more than once) in WINSLOW, ARIZONA (RT. 66) ... but no girl in a Flatbed Ford slowed down to look at me. There's a statue of a guitar player there. "THE EAGLES 🦅 " are a very SPECIAL GROUP!! When "WALSH" joined... they became FLAWLESS! Wanna do a cover... cover, "PRETTY MAIDS ALL IN A ROW." "JOE WALSH" wrote and performed it on "piano"- "HOTEL CALIFORNIA" album. That song carries a very special meaning. That man will ALWAYS HAVE MY DEEPEST RESPECT!! AND it's very different from the other songs on the album. It's so FREAKIN' BEAUTIFUL, I almost don't deserve to listen to it. I saw "THE EAGLES" before U were born. MEISNER left the band in '77.
I love how you sang the guitar solo an changed the tempo an made it dirty an swampy with slide go job Rhett ...the slide was done tastefully an I like how you reversed the chorus to suit the slide both of you bravo for taking this country pop rock song an turning into a ballad...very well done an original...
O.. M... G!!! I'm speechless guys, this is wonderful. It made me remember sunny afternoon's lying on the grass listening to fabulous music on my old stereo, including the Eagles, and Free. Thank you Mary and Rhett. 👍 GLORIOUS!
Outstanding. You two played it like you wrote it yesterday. Rarely can I describe a cover as refreshing. Thanks to both of you for a burst of sunshine in the middle of an otherwise mundane day.
A scintillating collaboration. Mary you always exude such passion when you sing. Amazing vocals! A refreshing take on a great song. You go guys!!! More collaborations please.

Great voice. Your version is better than the original.
Got tickets, Can't wait, going to hibernate till the 11th January! 😎
oh dang, I’m coming to the UK in November, wish i could come in January!

Agreed, her lower register is absolutely beautiful!
Oh man, Karen Carpenter, what a legend!
Love that too. Want to hear her sing a Julia
Fordham song some time. And also love the other plaintive side (upper registers)!
@@stevepower1372 her head voice is OK but simply cannot compare to her lower register one of the best in current pop music
I feel like this could chart.
How did this not get a million views?
Thanks

I’m an old guy, so songs that throw back to my youth are very meaningful to me. I loved your version!
I’m an even older guy, and fully agree.😂
I like the fact that Rhett is spending less time messing around with gear and is playing more music! And yes Mary has a spectacular voice!!!
Just goes to show what two hard-working pros who love music, can do in their spare time.
A new and delightful take on an old favorite, but with more heart and soul!
Absolutely brilliant. It's one of my favourite songs of all time. Mary's voice. Spectacular.
Backing tracks? They didn't even need a drummer or a bass player! Real musicians!
Absolutely spectacular in every way. You have to watch / listen to this several times to be able to take it all in. Such complicated simplicity. Stunning. Totally Stunning.
Love when the two of you collaborate. You guys have such a cool community of artists and content creators.
Rhett just kicks butt on slide. love Mary in her lower register.
Most covers aren't all that, but for this one, 1 word, OUTSTANDING!
@JOH no insult intended, but you must admit few covers are as good as the original.

That voice, that slide guitar. Wow!
Good GAUD! That's EXACTLY what I was talking about. More.
Thanks!
Good lord... That vocal transition from low to high near the end.. just incredible!

A better singer than any of the Eagles who deserves 1000x the recognition.
lol, better than Don Henley?...you're having a laugh
Let’s start a band 🤘🏻
Yes please!
Two of my favorite RUclips guitarists and one of my absolute favorite female vocalists, period. If you start a band, I will quit work and follow your tour. Be well my friends.
Great mike on that great voice.

ok, that was fire
One of your best recordings.
Singing songs with even less lyrics spaced out will bring you to voice perfection.
The vocals and slide are sublime! Love hearing Rhett play.
Rhett gets better every time I hear him.
Thanks! I love this song.
Your voice!!! ❤
Very enjoyable rendition of this song. I liked the Country style played Rhett Shull
You have really been adding range to your voice with this song and teen spirit. You could be a country singer.
Rhett great slide guitar ohh you made this with Mary vocals, its hit & you both lifted each other! Fun!
Mary, your vocal texture on this was sweet butter rum flavored coffee. Lovely.
That was excellent. I love Mary’s vocals on this rendition. The guitar playing by both of you is great. I’m also a fan of slide guitar and it certainly sounds great on this song. Great job by both artists.👍👍🇨🇦
Mary Chapin Carpenter came to mind for me. Well done.
what a song!
Two of my favorite people
Songs like this classic were meant to be re-envisioned.
Fantastic!!!
I love Mary's Channel. And Rhett, I love your's even more now for having her on...
Wow! What a cover! The two of you are so well in sync and Rhett's playing beautifully accompanies your wonderful voice, Mary. More duets please 👏👏🙏🙏
Wow 👏👏👏👏everything…..wow 👏👏👏👏👏and the fade out is appreciated 👏👏👏👏standing ovation 👏👏👏👏
Pure gold. That’s what happens when you put two great artists.
damn that 'mmmmmmmm' by Mary in the first two seconds sent shivers down my spine.
That performance really showcased your great vocal talents. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Ridiculously good. Just pure goodness. Thank you.
One of my favorite Eagles songs done spectacularly!! Thank you Mary this was a great start to my day
You guys are great together. I have followed both of your channels for years. I must say you have Synergy. You deliver a wall of sound with 2 guitars.
Just incredible!!! Thank you.
Encore!! Fantastic!
Sounding great. Backing rhythm was spot on. Rhett did a really good lead. Love your singing. Much enjoyed.
Wonderful voice; I like that chesty, robust timbre. Nice contrast with the David Lindley-like fills in a stark arrangement that conjures the vastness of the American Southwest.
what a stupendous arrangement! Your voice alongside Rhett's slide is magical!
Mary if you ever decide to come to America, please come to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and I will gladly come see you perform. You're a gem.
I have to be honest. I would've preferred less slide guitar. Sounds great, and great arrangement.
Slide tone and phrasing are stellar. Agree with the comment that Mary has a great low register and then modulates to higher register later. Holds the "hmms" for an impressive amount of time.
I love the way you made this cover yours. Great job. 👍😀

Simply beautiful! The original is great already but you two just made it even more! 😍😍

Splendid !!!
My favorite collab between you and Rhett to date.
Wonderful collaboration, loved it!
Wunderschöne Musikalische Darbietung Mary.
Wow, you really put your own spin on a classic. Sweet! Great cover and I love Rhett's slide work, it really added to the song.
Rhett .....clean, precise and accurate, top.
Soulful and haunting. Love this.
Exactly what I was thinking.
I love how you sang the guitar solo an changed the tempo an made it dirty an swampy with slide go job Rhett ...the slide was done tastefully an I like how you reversed the chorus to suit the slide both of you bravo for taking this country pop rock song an turning into a ballad...very well done an original...

Man I can taste the dust of the road on my tongue from that slide and the oh so perfect amount of reverb.
The intro is just stunning! 10/10
I've been singing this song in bars and clubs since it came out. Yep I'm that old. Now I have an arrangement to make it new. Thank you Mary.
I always loved this song. Now I love it even more! Thank you for this wonderful performance.
Rhett’s novo sounding fantastic
This is freaking amazing! The bit from 2:56 to 3:04 blew me away, incredible singing :)
Very nice guys indeed
I love it !! Great job both of you !!
Jesus.. the talent on these two!
Both amazing musicians , can’t wait to see more of these
simply beautiful
What a nice version! Congrats, it's so good!
Brilliant, as I would expect.
What a fantastic and beautiful cover. Also Rhett's guitar is dope as hell, solo was great too.
Literally the best version of this song I have heard.
Wow, goosebumps on goosebumps, loved it!
HOLY MOTHER. That was AMAZING. Especially the lower register... and that well-loved axe set up and played like a steelie...
A scintillating collaboration. Mary you always exude such passion when you sing. Amazing vocals! A refreshing take on a great song. You go guys!!! More collaborations please.
