Hey Team, I'm trying to save instrument/fx racks into custom folders in my library tab without it being put in a parent folder. IE. It's there called similarly search. If you have a shit ton of folders with samples, just let the similarly search do its thing, then just click the add button. creates a sort of favorites in the Library sidebar. It's pretty neat.
Terrible new system. Please at least have option to turn back old way of sorting. Now it's absolute mess - I don't want to see a list of all my plugins, sorted by name. I want to see list of manufacturers when I click on Plug-ins, where they were neatly sorted into folders. Now there's only one huge list of ALL plugins. Who approved this and who thought it would be easier??
I'd like to strongly advice people who oppose the filter & tag sections to at least give this a fair try. Because it can save you _so_ much time once you set up your tags and groups; you don't even have to bother with the defaults! Seriously... having VST2 and 3 devices I always had to keep collapsing the main selection, then the folder I wanted and only then could I access my devices. Now? I open the VST section, I click, say, u-he and *done* . All my synths neatly in place. Fun fact: even though your folders are invisible Live can still detect these AND filter on them! So if you have a folder called U-HE like I have... press ctrl + f in Live, type u-he and watch the magic unfold. Then set up your tag(s) and you're done. It's so easy once you set it all up....
It was so easy before without setting anything up. A lot of people don't want to spend days doing that. We want to make music, not have to organise a browser setup that is such a massive mess now.
Here's what everyone is missing... Group tags = Main Folder Tags = Sub Folders inside that main folder.. You can combine vst with vst3 in those folders OR whatever you want, anything! Such as m4l, racks, tracks, samples etc etc. If it shows up on your browser it can be tagged. But but but wait it gets better... you can save those " folders " i.e reverbs, delays, distortion, etc etc as docked folders on the left column of the browser where you have your audio effects, sounds, midi fx tabs etc etc.
No one wanted this change and it's terrible. I am sticking to Live 11 because this new system sucks. When you make people use filters and tags and searches, you make them actively choose what to show and ignore. The browser should be to BROWSE, so you can checkout stuff you would not normally find. It WASN'T BROKEN, so why try to fix it?. Sure allow filters for the few people like that, but for the majority this change is appalling. Give a option to revert.
I think it's very good as well. I just wish I could have a toggle for the old folder view, when I'm not using filters. Auto-tagging user library samples with AI would make the tag system so much more powerful, and allowing third party plugins to sort themselves into tags would be neat, too.
Please allow us to turn off the filters all together. It takes more clicks and time to find things than the older browser, and it clutters the space !
I think they should give both the option for plugins browser to keep it like 12 or like the previous version.

You can combine vst with vst3 in those folders OR whatever you want, anything! Such as m4l, racks, tracks, samples etc etc. If it shows up on your browser it can be tagged.
But but but wait it gets better... you can save those
" folders " i.e reverbs, delays, distortion, etc etc as docked folders on the left column of the browser where you have your audio effects, sounds, midi fx tabs etc etc.
Give a option to revert.
stop hating, this browser is amazing you will love it after 1 week working with it
I think it's very good as well. I just wish I could have a toggle for the old folder view, when I'm not using filters. Auto-tagging user library samples with AI would make the tag system so much more powerful, and allowing third party plugins to sort themselves into tags would be neat, too.
I still hate it after 4 months of working with it. The idea isn't bad, but it feels like it's in alpha stage.
I dont want to love it... i want the old f***ing browser back.. Wasn't broke, and this new system is a major limit on creativity.
Browser sucks
