My problem with NFT’s is that the people who sell them don’t do it because they love art or drawing, but because they see it for its base value: money- so they tend to not put in much effort, so most NFT’s look mid compared to actual art.

Honestly, I feel like NFTs are worthless. They only seem to gain value simply because they're being pushed by a popular person or they're trending in some way. If you really want a piece of art that actually has value, commission someone. At least then you'll be getting something of value (to you at any rate), you help support someone that actually makes great art and you get something that doesn't look like it was drawn 5 minutes before closing on a Friday.

Tbh I disagree with NFTs for three reasons:
A: Theft. As an artist I have heard around my community, the quick spreading of theft and resell, as well as false chains being tied back to the original creator to hide the theft. This not only is illegal it’s unethical, especially when the artist may not have made any money off of it originally and now it was sold for thousands of dollars somewhere they may not be aware of.
B: The art community as a whole.
We have already found streamline ways of selling, protecting, and reselling our art and original characters that are actually functional. Not only that, if you choose to instead, commission an artist you can get a customized character or piece of art while your funds go to an individual who actually needs it, not a multi-million dollar company run by bots.
C: The effects on the environment:
This is a big one, whether you can empathize with artists or not, you should care about the sheer amount of energy usage and heat caused by running block chains. It’s MASSIVE. Etherium is especially horrible about this and that is also the primary type of crypto used to buy and sell NFTs.
The average blockchain facilities use up a months worth of power for a whole city in a few days to run the hardware that stores the blockchains.
So please, just commission artists and creators for actually good media instead. Be smart, and think ethically where it’s possible.

It's also really bad for tge art community as people from that community keep getting their art stolen and turned into NFTs, including art from ppl who have died and it's basically impossible for the stolen art to be taken down. I don't know that we can separate NFTs from the pushers at this rate. They're a scam by design. If you buy it because you like the art, fine, though there are cheaper ways to get art, and you get to tell the artist what you want them to draw so you don't have to settle for what a computer crapped out. NFTs are only seen as worth a lot because they're hyped that way. Influencers push them on the idea that the NFT can be resold for more later. Someone has to end up with the bag. There is no central entity where you can cash it in - someone has to agree to take it off your hands for a price. And with how it's gone, the busts happen sooner rather than later.

The papyrus analogy is false because papyrus (and what’s written on it) exists in the real world. When you buy a papyrus with stuff written on it you have the papyrus, while when you buy the NFT, you buy a token that allows you to get to a server displaying a pic. Does the token exist? If the specific blockchain it belongs to goes down, not anymore. Do you have a right to the image? Unsure. No clear legal framework means obscure rights and duties.

I’d say nfts can be considered to be inherently bad when you consider a few aspects; for one, the transactions use up a shit ton of energy, which is pretty bad for the environment. Plus, there’s no inherent value you get when you own an nft. What’s the point in owning an nft if everyone else can see it and use it just like you? Plus, there’s already a way for digital artists to get compensated for their work, commissions allow the customer to get full control over the art and don’t use all that electricity.

Omg I'm so happy to hear this. I was at a party and a girl was preaching these while beating around the bush, I knew she was talking NFTs. I wasn't sure if maybe I was just too dunce to grasp the concept, but looking into them it just sounded flawed and ridiculous to me. How can you sell secure, digital copies of art?! Is it encrypted in the file somehow? Like?? What can you do to retain value with that? A genuine painting vs a print has tangible and visual differences, how is an NFT worth more than a copy? I don't get it.

This whole thing with NFT's is incredibly stupid. People can just screenshot their stuff because it's literally not worth anything more than any other image online lol. It's a string of 1's and 0's that may or may not look good or bad. People who fall for people Scamming literal *images* that don't even look good are just plain stupid. I'm sorry but if you invest money into Internet screenshots then you're stupid in my eyes.
Also, I don't hate all Crypto currency because some-most can be money sources that are not all bad. Crypto currency is like gambling but a lot safer I suppose. Tbh I disagree with you; NFTs are inherently bad. Paying tens of thousands of dollars for a database entry with an IPFS link to an image file? That's incredibly foolish, because whoever is hosting that file can just... stop, and now your NFT points to a dead link and is effectively worthless. Factor in the environmental/energy costs of NFTs, and you realize we're literally destroying our environment and converting the very air we breathe into what amounts to "artificial scarcity technology". They're inherently bad, they serve no purpose, and they actively harm our environment. They are _bad_ as bad gets. Even if the actual files were stored immutably on the blockchain itself (which they never are, cuz storage costs on the blockchain are absurd), they'd still be pretty useless, and they'd still be actively detrimental to humanity as a species.

I'm not sure the "NFTs are the future" argument holds up - because they don't seem to have any positives at all.
The people producing NFTs aren't doing it because it's "the newest, coolest way to sell art". They're only in it for the money, hence why nearly all of them look like the by-product of hitting the random button on a doll maker. If they are good-looking, they're probably also stolen artwork - because the people selling NFTs likely aren't artists at all, and it's so much simpler to use a (dead) artist's work, without credit or knowledge, than make even the 'doll makers'.
There's also the massive, extremely detrimental, cost to the environment - though that's also a problem with crypto in general. It isn't possible to create something out of nothing, after all, even digital currency or art. In fact, they kind of need the ridiculously massive warehouses full of expensive super computers working 24/7 to turn the power (equivalent to the total power usage of a small country, such as Ireland) into digital money. They wouldn't have backing otherwise, or the "unique string of binary code" that makes up a NFT.
Then there's the cultish (pyramid scheme-like) devotion to the practice. The fact is, there aren't a lot of people actually buying NFTs. In reality, in order to make money, the seller will recruit a "down-line" of regular buyers, who, in turn, will seek to recruit their own buyers - because that's all the NFT is good for, to sell for more money than you bought it for. Once in, you will seek to justify your purchase, and will get easily provoked when someone dismisses it as "just a picture" or "a really poor decision".
Then there's the sour taste whenever someone - be they a celebrity, company, studio or friend - "falls to the dark side" and starts promoting NFTs or crypto like it's their newest MLM 'business' (it kind of is). You will feel betrayed and might even attempt to steer them "back to the light"; but this will be 'too little, too late' and will only make you hurt more, especially if or when they lash out at or dismiss you and your concerns.
