      unfortunately, it was the opposition that brought out the best in Tyrion. look at how Jaime turned out from being the favorite son. only Tyrion could live up to Tywin's strength, because they both fought the weakness of their fathers. Tywin's father Tytos allowed other house's to take advantage of his house's wealth. he weakened his house till they were the laughingstock of Westeros. Tywin rose up and took control of their army and slew house Rayne who was sworn to the Lannisters.

      @@redace4821 This is why the show was so terrible compared to the books lol, "how much Tyrion actually loves Shae," besides the fact Shae didn't love or care about Tyrion in the slightest bit-and besides the fact Tyrion was simply trying to mirror what he had with Tysha his first wife-the reason he shoots Tywin is because he calls TYSHA a whore, not because he called the whore who outright lied and testified against him at his trial then fucked his dad 30 minutes before killing him a whore . . . The reason he even went to Tywin's solar to begin with is because Jaime told him the truth about Tysha, and how she actually loved him and wasn't just a paid off whore, and Tyrion came away from that DESPISING Jaime and currently wants to bring nothing but death and destruction on House Lannister and all of King's Landing.
      Absolutely insane they wrecked this scene and character arc so badly, in the books this right here is the moment Tyrion becomes a villain-the guy who rapes a prostitue and wanted to hurt her purely for the sake of hurting her, the guy who tricks Aegon Targaryen (aka "Young Griff") and his protector Jon Connington (who served Rhaegar) into ditching their original plans to outright invade the Seven Kingdoms on a whim. But instead we get Saint Tyrion The Pious who can't even have normal sex with a prozzie in a brothel, the buffoon whose plans constantly end up failing, the guy who actually said that CERSEI "isn't a bad person," the guy who refused to give his consent on taking King's Landing by force and with dragons despite the fact they all turned on him and didn't give a shred of gratitude for saving their city at the Blackwater . .
      Ain't trying to be a cockhole, it's just maddening to me how badly they messed this show up.

      He's proven that his condition isn't always an obstacle. Take the X-men movies for example. I think the only real obstacle he faces is one he put on himself; he refuses to play a character who lets themselves be defined as "just a dwarf". I suppose Tyrion was an excellent way for him to go against that, as Tyrion himself refuses to let his condition define who and what he is. It's not like I don't understand that decision though. That stinger from "The Rains of Castamere" just brings it home; Dwarfism notwithstanding, Tyrion is actually *everything* Tywin claimed to want in an heir; ruthless, brilliant, and dedicated to the family. Tywin refused to acknowledge that to the bitter end, and forgot that *he* would not take that kind of crap from anyone - so neither would Tyrion.

      @cptcarlos583 2 года назад +17

      @@growingstruggle5493 It seems like a rather stupid conceptual theory only born from the idea of him being a candidate for dragon rider. The thing is, I don't think you *need* targaryen blood to do so. Either way, it cheapens the impact that Tyrion killing Tywin had, along with the addition of the aftermath- which people have, too, made a stupid theory about him being poisoned instead of just allowing it to be a narrative.
      If anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about, it was assumed in a theory that Rhaegar the Mad King had, in fact, gotten 'frisky' with the wife of Tywin, his hand. Making Tyrion a Targaryen. In addition to this, in the books it was stated that Tywins body smelled horrendously after his death. But, this was a narrative choice more than some coincidental issue that so apparently was caused by poisoning. "Tywin Lannister did not, in fact, shit gold" is the main quote. Which is talking more about the flaws Tywin had as a father and as a nobleman.
      Tyrion also shot him in the gut, around where his bowels laid. So, of course he'd smell like shit, if you want to go for a more literal sense of what happened. None of that poison shit.

    One is left to ponder what place Peter Dinklage visited in his head before taking the set to act out the confession scene. There is not a single piece of television acting I've ever seen more compelling. Equal to, yes, but nothing that surpasses this.

    • @tpkchubbzz2651

      There’s also not a lot of scenarios in modern day acting where actors are given the opportunity to display such conviction. A role with so much history, buildup. Tyrion lashing back at Tywin and Cercei had been brewing for a long while, 3-4 seasons actually. Finally, he was framed by the murder of his nephew BY his sister and his FATHER approved it while his BROTHER tried to get a deal forcing Tyrion into the Nights Watch. It can’t get much more fucked than that. That’s what makes the scene so compelling. Yes Peter Dinklage is a fantastic actor; and creating an unparalleled moment in GOT history. It’s sad nothing else has buildup nowadays.

      I think he meant more what Dinklage had to endure, rather what Tyrion went through. Being that Dinklage is obviously a dwarf in reallife, that moment was maybe more than just acting. Maybe all the words spewing out of him that moment were just the script he uttered, but fired with the pain of the real world. I can imagine Peter Dinklage had his fair share of discrimination that made this entire moment so believable.

      It doesnt seem so sweet when you learn that its possible that Dumb and Dumber could've included the scene as a jab at Orson Scott Card, who critisized the show. Its believable as the book has no such character, this scene doesnt really serve any purpose and the Tyrion's statement on "Laughing at other person's mysery was the only thing that made me feel normal" contradicts the love for "bastards and broken things" he otherwise displayed.
      Normally I would've dissmissed it as a rumour as its way too childish to do such thing, but since it comes from the creators of "Arya kills the NK to subvert the expectations" im not so sure it isnt true.

    There's a line in the books that I wish was included. Before he killed Tywin, when he said "You're no son of mine", Tyrion replies with "I am you kilt small". Honestly, one of the coolest, coldest lines I've ever heard.

    The two bolts that Tyrion hit Tywin were cold, full of intent to kill. The first time I watched, i thought that Tyrion killed Tywin under impulse and emotional outburst. But after re-watch, I am sure that the moment he saw his father, he decided to kill him regardless of what Tywin says. When Tyrion said that he was always his son and fired the second bolt, he meant, I think, Tywin's ruthless cruelty

      Once he killed Shae killing his father was easy by comparison. He loved Shae, his father hated him for being born and often treated him subhuman referring to him as "waddling about". As much as he still wanted his father's respect the hate would have run deep and then sentencing him to die for a crime he was innocent of was the final straw even before the final betrayal and all the hypocrisy as his father had no problem bedding a whore. He 100% was going to kill him no matter what but Tywin made it easy
