I discovered TCV about a month ago and can’t believe I was only 15 years late. MENC, DEF and Caligulove don’t make my top five songs, which shows you how insane this album was. (Top five in no order is NOLMANDI, NF, Elephants, SB and Bandoliers).
and chilean!!.... to bad here in chile most of the people don't even know him and he's been at almost every side from rock n' roll history since the late 80's im proud of him.
exactly! They could release shitty or unoriginal music and still make mega bucks, but they choose to make quality stuff, that many people might not even be able to appreciate
+Camillo Battilossi in the ideal oniric world of fans like me, this album should be the best selling most aclaimed Bilboard top 1 forever. Any less than that: the most underrated album ever made.
Daniel Magalhães i just think Josh should either just play guitar or just sing. Being 2 out of 4 just makes it too similar to QOSA. Thankfully Dave isn't singing how about u guys start a project and get a truly blessed "real" singer. Obviously Nirvana and Kyuss had better vocals, and what is a huge factor of why it was insanely good.
God dammit. John Paul Jones is so rock solid. His subtle little fills are amazing. Listen to this with a good set of earphones and you can hear every note he's playing
He and carol kaye are the 2 best bass writing songwriters to ever live. She did the mission impossible theme song along with multiple uncredited albums etc en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carol_Kaye, and he did "Babe I'm going to leave you" (ruclips.net/video/mdrAdcxFB9c/видео.htmlm23s) along with all the other Zeppelin hits, the 2 of them are responsible for so many hit grooves on rock songs and inspired so many people to play that instrument that people still say sucks sometimes (idiots).
Hands down the best rock band ever . The songwriting and musicianship on this album is jaw dropping . I've played for over twenty years and cannot remember a group that can touch these guys . Rock music at its pinnacle !
How does the entire world know about Miley Cyrus and Kanye yet these guys just buzz along under the radar ? I'm going to go smash myself in face with an axe now , thank you .
This is one of my favorite albums of this century so far. I've been astonished by the resistance to it. Haven't been able to get any of my musician friends interested in it, and some people can't get past the Grohl-hate (which I've never understood). I still don't get why this wasn't a much bigger record than it was. It remains a largely undiscovered gem.
The respective managers, attorneys, various record companies weren't making as much money off this as opposed to another record by their respective group. Often, these projects get made to please the artists, but get "sabotaged" so they go back to their regular gig. Plus, what record company will push a record if the artists don't tour too much to support it? Sometimes, it just gets lost in the shuffle. At least it's out there.
I can't profess to "Grohl-Hate". I can't have much to do with him when it comes to Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain, cuz he knows something about it, and if there ever was a prime suspect for something, well, Love is it. So I just can't be a Grohl fan. But in truth, I just want him to stay on drums. When he ventures off of them, I lose interest. Foo Fighters just aren't my thing, but I do like "Rope" alot. But when he's on drums, I am absolutely happy with the dude.
Four guys having so much fun and making some awesome music. A pleasure to watch. John looks like he's having the time of his life. The keys at the end are sublime.
It's seriously been over 4 years since this album came out? I still listen to it about once a week (from start to finish), and I'm not sick of it at all. PLEASE MAKE ANOTHER ALBUM! The way Josh's writing style adapted on Like Clockwork (after his bout with death) could set up a 'TCV2' album to be beyond incredible.
You can see the awe in Dave's eyes as he stares at JPJ, and almost tear up? You can just see him thinking 'I am so honoured to be performing with this man,' same for Josh, it's such a wonderful moment at the end.
If I were Grohl, during John Paul's piano solo at the end, I'd be thinking of what it must have been like to be John Bonham during an amazing era in music, creating some of the most iconic songs in history with Led Zeppelin.
Still come back to listen to this a few times a year. What a great performance. I like how all the band are looking at john paul jones in awe at the end when john is improvising on the keys like the rock god he is. Love Dave grohls drumming on this track too....💥💥💥
Dave's drumming can elevate anything tbh. The power plus the technicality he has is unmatched and I can't imagine any other drummer for this band, spinning in daffodils being one of my favorite drums ever.
Alain Johannes is so badass that he kept Hillel Slovak and Jack Irons from playing on the first Red Hot Chili Peppers album. What Is This were a pretty awesome band. He fits in perfect here and they should have more closeups on him.
+deathmetaldouglas69 I agree - it's a bit strange he's not included as much. I guess it's do with the whole 'supergroup' thing. But considering the people he's played with, he meets that requirement. In interviews I've seen Josh and Dave mention him, but the interviewers always skip over it.
Yeah, I think it may be possible that he doesn't like being in the spotlight too.. Idk. Then again, the band doesn't really have a say in who is filmed, and who ppl want to interview. He's underappretiated for sure, but so is tcv. Many ppl that would love this band have never heard of them
Stechunderscore Because they were in HIS band What is This. RHCP became a side project once WIT got signed and produced by Todd Rundgren. They had a video in 1985 covering The Spinners "I Be Around". Jack Irons is in the video but Hillel Slovak already rejoined RHCP in time for Freaky Styly. cliff Martinez drummed on that 2nd album and Jack Irons got to the "The Uplift Mofo Part Plan" which was the band's third and best album. Their 3rd album was the only album with ALL RHCP original members.
If you try and think and picture them as just a normal band, just an upcoming band with a debut record, it's the kind of music that will catch your attention and will want to listen to it. This band is great not because they're a supergroup but they make great music
Here's a band that you definitely know they play for fun. I'm sure money is not an issue anymore. But i need another album, man! Come oooon! Da' fuck, you guuuys??
MrSatanochio They confirmed/promised they would be back one day for another album, citing the fact that they have so many more song ideas and of course for the fun of it!
My god this is a total powerhouse of intricate stunning grooves and melody. It just doesn't get any better than this and I listen to all kinds of music. Its like QTSOA on steroids times 100. Grohl and John and Josh and wait whose the other guy? Hes kicking ass too. This has become my fav. video on youtube. I already bought the album because of this and the in concert video. i wish!!! but i really dont think so.. word is Grohl cant hack the songs anymore.. :( at least they could throw a repackage as the album deserves a remix imho (more and clearer JPJ in the mix), an oficial clear live recording (this BBC session is by far the best sounding live gig by TCV but lacks the raw emotion of the other ones with an actual audience) maybe a BTS of the actual recording AAAAAND OUTAKES (i always wonder if Highway 1 is the tip of the iceberg)
God, and they still have material left over from the self-titled sessions.. Hopefully their stars align and they can get back to the studio soon, I'd love another TCV album.
Love JH's accents when he changes them up depending on the song. JPJ's bass playing is just effortless and made to look so easy. DG's drumming is on point, giving various complex paterrns. All round solid band. Hope they come back at some point.
John's Spinning outro would make the others realise that these hands created No Quarter, particularly the live versions where Jonesy sat to the piano to improvise while Page and Bonham were having their prescription backstage...
JPJ solo at the end is a symphony. what a musician, never understood why Jimmy didn't do more music with him. Maybe too close to home. what a musician.
Dave has to be considered as one of the best rock drummers in the past 25 years. John Paul Jones did put together the Crooked Vultures, and it has to be the best post Zep band by any of the surviving members.
...still listening to this in late 2024, this supergroup is awesome
I discovered TCV about a month ago and can’t believe I was only 15 years late.
MENC, DEF and Caligulove don’t make my top five songs, which shows you how insane this album was.
(Top five in no order is NOLMANDI, NF, Elephants, SB and Bandoliers).
the amount of talent in that room is absurd. Probably the greatest super group ever.
I'm sure each one of those guys would consider Zeppelin to be more of a super group than this band.
Supergroups are a band that's made of more than one famous member from more than one band. Led Zeppelin is an established group by themselves.
Brady Newsome zeppelin was that. look for it :D
Brady Newsome i do agree with that, however "killers be killed" migth be just as good, their first release was killer
Bigger than Cream?
Spinning In Daffodils...one of the single best songs ever written.
i concur
The intro somehow reminds me of "Shout at the Devil" by Motley Crue.
It's a fantastic song. This version of it, with the JPJ outro, is so bad ass and powerful..
6 years later, I agree, cheers if u read this
Spinning is a masterpiece… ‘Nuf said.
Alain is a great musician, a hidden treasure that shines in the deepest caves of rock and roll music. influential yet silent in a way. amazing.
and chilean!!.... to bad here in chile most of the people don't even know him and he's been at almost every side from rock n' roll history since the late 80's
im proud of him.
really. wow people should really take notice and exactly be proud of him. Someone you can be proud of. a great artist
I never understood why he was never an official member
This statement is accurate, correct and true!🤘
💯 absolute!!!!
You can really tell how much they're all enjoying themselves.
yeaah dude. That's what I love about these dudes. The're in it to create something really awesome and enjoy it, not about makin money
Screech891
While I totally agree that's kinda irrelevant as they're all already loaded. :')
exactly! They could release shitty or unoriginal music and still make mega bucks, but they choose to make quality stuff, that many people might not even be able to appreciate
Diogo Filipe Rocha ahh.. Dave and john are crazy rich!!
farfangled True musicians
The most underrated album ever made.
+Daniel Magalhães UNDERRATED? by who?
+Camillo Battilossi Hahahahaha! Agreed, Not around long enough to be underrated. Maybe give it another 15 to 25 years, and then call it that.
+Camillo Battilossi in the ideal oniric world of fans like me, this album should be the best selling most aclaimed Bilboard top 1 forever. Any less than that: the most underrated album ever made.
this is one of the best things. period.
Daniel Magalhães i just think Josh should either just play guitar or just sing. Being 2 out of 4 just makes it too similar to QOSA. Thankfully Dave isn't singing how about u guys start a project and get a truly blessed "real" singer. Hey guys, Alain Johannes is in this room too
THE MAN
Alain is the complete underdog. I've heard he was on Nirvana for 24 hours...
I don't get why the cameramen didn't notice him. So unfair.
we can sure hear his guitar in the mix! love his playing so much
@Bruce Wayne far from just a session player wow
It's a shame nobody talks about Alain and how awesome that dude is. :D
Everyone knows he is the best session guy in the business but he looks like jabba the hutt so he's always left off "official Line-Ups".
He seems to be getting a bit more recognition these days
@@petercornford5922 lol give him a break, didnt his wife die like a year before this??
I do, no one I know has ever heard of him , the evil has landed!!!
That little "thing" that Dave do at the beginning of New Fang is incredibly groovy to hear AND beautiful to watch !! Legend
how tight are these guys, so unbelievably tight and the song writing is just out of this world. truly an amazing band
God dammit. John Paul Jones is so rock solid. His subtle little fills are amazing. Listen to this with a good set of earphones and you can hear every note he's playing

Propjoe10 He adds a lot of tension with what he plays.
John Paul Jones is definitely the most talented one in this group. 😍
He's one of the most all-round talented rock musicians that's ever lived.
And it seems like he isn't playing at all. Amazing
I love watching JPJ...always mellow looking but killing it on the strings...he is just a musical/composing genius.
Homme and Grohl's voices are magical together!!! Dave has always been fantastic at harmonizing!
That piano solo at the end is incredible!
saw these guys on tour before the album dropped. was hands down one of the best shows in my life.
+sean mitchell i envy you so much.
+sean mitchell liar
i saw them in detroit a few months before the album dropped. They started touring before the album was released
+sean mitchell Nice!! They were unreal when they played in Auckland
I had never heard they formed the band before the damn tour was over and I'm still sad I missed the chance to see John Paul Jones live.
Russ Crum III same......
Be happy that you have this precious gem and not everyone else, in a way. Not everyone deserves to see, or even understand paradise. We lucky few ;)
+Russ Crum III agreed
+Ash Hudson well said, fuckem.
No doubt the best rock band for years and years. Hope they do another album and tour. They are so tight
I feel both inspired and intimidated...
Exactly!

that key outro is seriously putting chills down my back, wow john paul still has it.
JPJ on Bass with Dave on drums is rhythm sex.

Probably the best he's played with since Bonham too. 🖤

This albums easily one of my favorites in a long long time, besides QOTSA.
I feel the same way.. I love anything homme is a part of, and grohl.
daffodils smells like alice in chains and i love it
Alain johannes is the man the shadow the legend. what a history
It's seriously been over 4 years since this album came out? I still listen to it about once a week (from start to finish), and I'm not sick of it at all. PLEASE MAKE ANOTHER ALBUM! The unfortunate nature of super-groups...These are 3 of the hardest working guys in music, so they're probably always busy.
Dave Grohl told my friend that it’s been a scheduling problem. But they always have it in mind
:)
sad
Bri im still waiting
John Paul was perhaps the most laid-back bass player ever. His sardonic face never ceases to send me into laughter.
ApollonianKing Entwistle as well. He plays the most complex bass lines, while looking absolutely bored
A lot of bass players are like that.
You can see the awe in Dave's eyes as he stares at JPJ, and almost tear up? You can just see him thinking 'I am so honoured to be performing with this man,' same for Josh, it's such a wonderful moment at the end.

Dead End Friends - 05:14
Mind Eraser No Chaser - 09:51
Spinning In Daffodils - 13:49
Should be top comment. Thank you brother/sister!
The power that these three guys have is incredible!! Love them, I'd like to see them in concert!!
3 of the greatest musicians ever, I knew there was a reason I love their songs so much.

I still say Grohl is one of the best harmonizers in rock music!
What a wonderful musician is John Paul Jones.
JPJ's piano part at the end of this is amazing. Nothing super technical just all soul. Fucking rad man_😄
You can tell how mesmerized Josh and Dave are by JPJ. Just appreciating every moment they share with a timeless musician
Is it me or does daves drumming really give this song an energy it wouldn't otherwise have?
Dave's drumming can elevate anything tbh. The power plus the technicality he has is unmatched and I can't imagine any other drummer for this band, spinning in daffodils being one of my favorite drums ever.
I gotta get their LP..and an LP player...plus really good speakers...and money for them all...Fuckit, i'll stay here for now.

They sound musicaly mature
PowerGuido Kilmister On the album, they sound mature after interlude with ludes, but before that they are more childish.
Andrew Stewart like they even need to be ''mature'' with the amount of talent they have. They could just fart for 40 minutes it'd still be amazing.
Maybe that what their new album is going to be...
Andrew Stewart nobody needs to sound mature to sound good.
ok...
So proud of him! He's chilean, just like me... and you're so right. He should never be in the shadow, he's just TOO talented!

Very cool Zeppelin style keyboards by Jones at the end of daffodils
What an EPIC ending in those last two minutes.....
Dave has to be considered as one of the best rock drummers in the past 25
years. John Paul Jones did put together the Crooked Vultures, and it has to be the best post Zep
band by any of the surviving members.
Along with Cloverdale/Page, it's sounds almost zeppelin album.
So true, I have always liked David Grohl better as a drummer
a bad ass but adorable trio
