I, personally only play vanilla because I like it when everything I learn in the game can transfer to servers and stuff while not being limited to being skilled in one particular mod
There are 3 stages of Minecraft players deoending how how much content you need to to feel engaged in the game Modded Modern Beta Moded being the tons of content to explore but low creativity for the player, while beta is simple and cozy one where your creativity is at its highest, but the content vrry limited Modern is the middle ground
This is honestly a great explanation of modded, beta and modern Minecraft I've ever read. •Well yes, modded Minecraft does give a lot to work with, but with too many, you start to feel limited and just start using the same things over and over again. "The more you take, the less you have" -Master Oogway •Beta while being the smallest and most simple, allows you to play and create as the skies the limit. •Modern however is the in-between. The silver lining of the previous two mentioned. While it has more content, it's still limited and can allow both complex builds and simple gameplay. •In short, Modded is too large and complex, Beta is small and simple, Modern is just right.
I'm not a Vanilla person but I'll admit the new updates are really good even when my first impressions tell me I'm going to dislike it. My taste in Minecraft is kinda close to base game but more RPG-like. I'm not really into a lot of bosses and dimensions though. It's often changes to things like making Food more interesting with different foods with different effects collected in interesting ways or making Enchanting less tedious. I think the balance comes in making your own modpack, Better MC is cluttered with mods you might never use. It opens every door at once instead of giving you the options. I'd suggest something along the lines of Crucial 2 by Vazkii or another Vanilla+ modpack.
I got minecraft a few months ago because of the sale and my friends encouraged it, but have been watching it from creators like popularmmos and more for years. The idea of modded minecraft and the way it affects the vanilla experience always depends on the severity of the mod. I generally like mods or datapacks that just add to the idea of vanilla minecraft such as more structures and biomes/terrain to explore while still leaving room to build up my own pathways and civilization. I have been sticking to vanilla though and i have just started playing the dungeons and taverns mod because i was curious.
i love modded a lot more than vanilla but turning the game into something totally different like a zombie apocalypse or very rpg like is a no go for me. i always love the core aspect of the game, but often feel frustrated for the combat being too limited into just swords, shields and bows and not innovate with magic spells, summons or stuff like that. maybe add a little challenge while you're at it but i just love blowing a bunch of zombies with a fireball instead of just seewping them away with a sword. so magic mods and QoL mods are essential to me at least, play like in the base game, but with a twist. That is my way of playing. Edit: I also want to clarify that i also like to add a lof of structure mods to make the world feel less empty, but even with a voluminous castle in front of me waiting to be turned into a house still doesn't stop me from building my very own and make it even better. i just like adding more structures or even civilizations so i can make something much much better than that.
i personally am a vanilla minecrafter because 1. i play bedrock and bedrock mods(or addons) are experimental 2. i feel like mods sound better than vanilla on paper but in execution it's overwhelming cuz they add so many stuff
@@TechbotHimself i feel like vanilla has many things that could be improved upon, some stuff regarding the client side (i.e. better navigation for things and QoL functions), but most regarding the actual server side (such as better land gen, more food, more interesting mechanics to existing items, etc.)
Torches and lanterns should cast light as you hold them. We should be able to combine a lantern with a helmet to make a headlamp. And there should be a double chest boat. Personally i want a boad called "The Adventurers Boat" thats 2 blocks wide 4 blocks long and has a double chest up from and a double chest in the back with 4 slots for people or mobs. The boat should be a rare trade from a fully upgraded fisherman, or an expensive trade from a wandering trader. The player can't make the boat, but the player can fix it in the crafting table using iron and wood of the same kind. As the boats durability wears down, the front chest breaks at the halfway point and the back chest breaks at the quarter point. While you can repair your boat, once a chest breaks its gone forever. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. When a chest breaks, 2 new seat slots open up. So a boat with no chests can carry a total of 8 people. Thats a nice bus service or raiding party.
I love vanilla but I always come back to modded because it catches that sense of awe and wonder as I discover new content just like my first time playing minecraft
I play vanilla, but I use quality of life mods only. Mods like leaf me alone and horse buff have mode horse travel fun and I'm now using my horse a lot instead of just my elytra. Sodium is also great for performance and the other mods I have installed are great. They don't change the game, but they make it a lot more enjoyable. I also installed a mod a few days ago to make it where impaling works on mobs underwater in Java. I do NOT care if it's cheating. That is absolutely how it should be in the base game.
Imo being good at building makes the vanilla updates even better. A lot of people are always like “hUrR tHeY AdD a FeW UseLesS bLockS” when i see new blocks i freak out for example when i saw the tuff blocks i was like oh my fawking gawdddd we have another green/grey shade!1!1!1!1!!1
Your opinion is very fair and understandable. However, it seems you're not fully aware of all the mods and modpacks there are out there. One very popular theme in modpacks (especially in older versions like 1.12.2 or 1.7.10) is around tech. Tech themed packs change how the whole game works, it goes from a sandbox (vanilla) to a survival (normal mods, the ones you talked about and played) to sandbox again, because of how many machinery and automation you will create. Tech packs require you to do many things in order to achieve one final goal (usually to craft a specific item). Yes, items are being gated behind progression, but i still believe it counts as a sandbox game because of how many ways you can do the task required to craft that one item. In large modpacks, many recipes can be created with more than one way, allowing you to use your creativity to think how and what is the most efficient way to do X thing. For instance, you might need to create a complex automation system to produce a specific resource. This involves choosing the right machines, power sources, and transportation methods, which can vary widely and require innovative problem-solving (for example you might not have enough sides for a 1 block machine (6) to pipe resources into it as the other sides will be used for other tasks, which makes you resort to using wireless inputs or other means). A good tech modpack will give you many options and techniques that amount to almost the same efficiency, instead of making one block machine basically make every other way inferior. Tech modpacks push you to think of creative ways to overcome the challenges imposed and give you the choice to pick which way to finish the task at hand. At the end of the day, not everything is for everyone, and some people will not enjoy the things you do. Great video!
Totally get what your saying thats why I tried to avoid dissing modded in the video because there's a large appeal to both, but for me personally I just find I to be to much :)
I dont like adding modded blocks and items because if i wanted to update the world it could lead to deletions of builds and chunks at best, or, even worse, the corruption of the world file.
I personally have modded minecrsft boss creativity. Beacuse the quality of life mods and other aspects can make building easier and can let me di way larger projects
ah yes, the minecraft player mojang wants to have and has been catering for since however many updates ago. this is exactly why i play modded, minecraft vanilla isnt the game i want
Look Man Minecraft is not supposed to be a progression game there’s not infinite I’m a bosses and new weapons new gear that you need to advanced throughout the game it’s an expression of yourself
With all due respect vanilla is trash and can easily run out of content The only reason why the game is still kicking is because of the modding community

Finally a person who understands what Minecraft is really about.
