Whoever painted the front guard did a terrible colour matching job. Good video. I hear you on the exorbitant parts costs. If you're involved in minor to mid level accident, the cost repair can easily exceed the value of the vehicle, at which point an insurer is likely to pay out market value only.
Mine is a 2000 base. The car is an amazing machine, specially, considering that the car is 24 years old! My greatest gripe , as with all Boxster based cars, is the access to the engine! Most of my other issues are moot! It’s a basic sports car, that’s a joy to drive!
I found one for 20.000, it’s a 2007 model, 987.1. What do you think I should look for? Is the car easy to live with? Does it need repairs often? I’ve only owned a new car (2020 model) before, so I’m not used to checking second hand cars.
I actually have a buyers guide coming out at 5:30pm BST where I cover the main issue that people talk about and all the things I’ve learnt from owning it
I've not long bought a high miles 2.7, and assumed the previous owner had 3D printed some DIY cup-holders. Looks like it's just as well I didn't rip them out!
Looking good with the aerokit, wish mine had that. Mine does have a glovebox though! If you really want one you could swap in a dash from a facelifted car, bit of a faff though. Good vid.👍
I'm more than twice your age age have a couple boxsters and 911s. Great video and I too hate it when I'm told start up smoke is normal. They don't all do it
@@_financial_regret_ You said it in the video, it's based on crash statistics. The risk of insuring a 986 is much lower if it's statistically less likely to be involved in a crash.
Zero steering over 140 kmh so just like a rear wheel drive 911 this is also a widow maker. And the gears are too long ( every porsche ) so its not enjoyable on the street, its unreliable, its expensive to buy and run. They are the negatives. The positives are. Not sure yet
I'd rather focus on the driving experience and engine noise. Also aftermarket head units always age terribly and make the interior look horrible in just a few years time.

Like the headlights. It was much easier to change a bulb on my Skoda, when I learned they came out in a not dissimilar manner.

love the oem aero kit on this 986 boxster
Just bought a 2002 model. Love it however trying to get used to manual transmission.

Io ho risolto il problema fumo all'accensione con mobil 0/40
Excellent Video! What do you think of the engine/exhaust note?
Love it. I want a new exhaust to make it a bit louder but the pitch is amazing
been waiting for this
I take it it’s had a bump? The wing looks a different shade than the door.
No, the previous owner dropped brake cleaner on and tried to aerosol it. That’ll be sorted in the future
bro how do u get it for 2k insurance broooo, im seeing 6k :(((, but im a new driver
I honestly do not know. A Clio 172 is 6 grand for me to insure yet this is 2… insurance is such a joke

Trade it in on a SUV!

Expensive to buy?
The only widow-maker was the 930 Turbo due to the turbo lag and engine over the rear axle, neither of which apply to the 986.

Does this person really believe we’re learning anything new from this video?
Nope 😁
Thanks, I did learn a bunch. Thx for the vid.
I learned a lot.
Install car play
Not a chance
@@_financial_regret_ transforms the 986.
@@gotoylc Not for me, I hate CarPlay with a passion
