  • In this video we start diving into and fixing up a 2001 Porsche Boxster, the 986 generation. My dad purchased this car in 2004 off of a lease and has had it ever since. it's only accumulated around 50,000 miles in the last 20 years and mechanically it is in great shape. it just needs a little TLC to return it to its former glory!

Yeah. The best I can do currently is a car cover!

Amazing, I just got gifted a 97 boxster and it’s been sitting out for a while and appearance wise it needs good cleaning, definitely using this video as reference 👍

Awesome. Let me know if you have any questions about products I used. Also if you are going to work on it yourself. The channel "help me DIY" is awesome. He's done about everything possible on an early boxster!

The other nice thing about the original boxsters, 97-99, is they don't have the IMS issues because they use a dual row bearing!

For the plastic, like the red seat belt clip and cowlings, try a heat gun, there are lots of "restore plastic heat gun" videos, works really well.
And let me know if you plan to sell it!
    Nice cleanup video

I like that idea. I probably could even take off the buckle so I don't risk setting the seat on fire!

that heater foam is nasty and can actually stain your clothes if you're not careful
