Just got mine. Mine had major QC issues. Two SAVE buttons instead of an Undo. Right function key popped off after a day and a half of use. Also the magenta lights behind the square keys are way too bright (put tape over them). You're not color correcting anything after looking down at it. I really really wanted to love it, but the basic QC issues are a bummer.
The perfect way to slow down your workflow and complicate things and giveaway money, all in one package! Wow!
i was thinking the same way for the loupedeck+ until i got it as birthday present. i didn't use it for 2 months because it was making my workflow slower at the beginning. Now i can not edit in lightroom with out it.
Μιχάλης Δημητριάδης Special keyboards and macros are not something new, I've been using this type of devices for years since the first Razer Nostromo for games and then started to usu it for music and image edition and it can save time but now the software itself it's improving to make user experience easier, so I don't use it that much... I own the Razer Tartarus and orbweaver and also a steelSeries gaming keyboard which provide lots of macro and special keys.
Nailed it!
@@michaeldemetriades exactly. wise guys that hate on Loupedeck typically never used it. Not everybody wants to DIY stuff, most people don't want to have to learn all that. I love my loupe deck+ but this seems overpriced. Looks cool tho
German Bueso LOL TRUE
It sounds like keyboard shortcuts but with extra steps.
That’s what we call a “controller”.
Exactly
Eek barbadurkel
Hey man.. just to let you know, the CT is supposed to be used with your opposite hand of your mouse, ex. your left hand. It makes it quicker than using your mouse to tool select and all that jazz
I'm think about adding loupe deck to my home studio. This video gave me A lot of good info, THANK YOU!
can the buttons be reprogrammed as shortcut or macro keys for use and general day to day functions when not in say lightroom.. similar to an elegato streamdeck?
I'm totally interested. My right wrist has been bothering me so much after shooting and editing tons of photos this summer. I have to wear a wrist support to make it feel better and visit physiotherapist regularly. I can imagine using this on the left without reaching to keyboards short cuts (adjusting all the sliders on LR). My right hand can be on the mouse smoothening skin, removing blemishes..
I just wish it supports Photo Mechanic which we rely on so much when culling photos, and if it's a bit cheaper.
Do you know if it supports the "'ALT' + slider " in the basic or detail panels? I tried the loupedeck+ and that was one of the things I really didn't like that it wouldn't support the combination of the keyboard and mouse actions like holding down the 'ALT' key while adjusting the 'Masking' slider in the detail panel. And the price seems way too high for me.
In the EU 499 €... oh man... Thats a lot of Money. I Use an Loupdeck + and an Steamdeck. Thats is cheaper and faster. My biggest problem is that the loudeck is not so configurable as I wish. Í didn t work with Lightroom. Ím working with Capture One and I wanna change some Setting but the software didn ´t allow this.
Who needs another keyboard?? When all button and options right in front of your screen, why you need to look down to do it? What is the use case for this product?
Supports Davinci Resolve? Would be nice for grading. And the Resolve Panels starts from twice the price
Hello my friend. Does it feel like getting stuck at a certain point when turning on the common rotating ring button?
Is lupdeck good for final cut pro editing. I don't care that much about color grading I want something that is going to make editing faster
Hi. I seen a lot for Lightroom and premiere or final cut but nothing for after effects. Do they have any thing for after?
I purchased the 2nd gen Loupedeck. It's not bad, but it was basically a slower way to use keyboard shortcuts and Lightroom sliders. I typically have me left hand on the keyboard and my right hand on a Wacom tablet. Switching to another device just makes things more awkward. I find using the sliders and + - on the keyboard is faster for adjustments than individual dials. When I was watching him rate images I was thinking I do the same thing with arrow keys and numbers 1-5 and it's super fast and easy.
Will this Loupedeck work with Cyberlink Power Director software?
As a side note, if you're a mouse user and you don't have a gaming mouse, you need one, serious game changer and I've found its faster than this would be for me. Get 10 buttons and set it up for everything you need most. I also use a controller with midi2lr and it's all fantastic. 6 knobs on this is a no from me, needs 8(plus the price)
But does it work on Affinity Photo? What about Luminar 3? Resolve? This could be really useful, but some of us do not use Adobe stuff, at all
Isaac García still waiting to use my loupedeck+ with Luminar 3!
Isaac García yeah you don’t even own photoshop. You just rent it.
Affinity photo for life
@@Sol-l4i4d indeed 👍
Isaac García I use the 3 you mentioned. Does Loupedeck+ work with any of them? If so, where’s some info? Thanks!
@@ChrisBabb honestly I don't know, when I first saw the Loupedeck products I wanted to try them, but not knowing if it's going to work outside of the Adobe ecosystem it's a little scary to buy one for me.
so, does it work with DaVinci Resolve?
I was so stoked on the first gen... pre ordered it. Paid full price. When I finally got it, it felt like a toy. I still was stoked. I was constantly forcing myself to use it and besides the dial to rotate the photo, I found nearly everything was easier and faster to just use through Lightroom. Then a few dials were broken in only a few months. I’m sure this new one is of a much better quality. But I already learned that it doesn’t make my workflow any faster if you know the basic keyboard shortcuts. Oh yeah, and even though I have a massive desk, it was always a pain in the ass finding the perfect position for it.
the perfect position lol
Does it work with Captureone and or Davinci Resolve...?
Honestly they priced themselves out of the market here. I work on indy feature filming as well as being a photographer on the side and looking at this I was very interested till I looked up the price. If this had been $349 sure, but at $549 you are now up against the specialized colour panels in the industry and I can't easily justify it when it costs as much as what I got my reference monitor for (got a steal of a price with Amazon Warehouse, but still).
Yeah but when you're Lee or Patrick, you get everything you review for free so I can see why they love this thing lol. I'm half joking, because I know they don't get everything they review for free, but then again they do get a lot of things like this LoupeDeck for free.
@@patricksmith2553 yep, definitely!
Firebrand
Its interesting. I think it will slow you down in the beginning a LOT. But probably if you learn it, then its always just on hand. But this company needs to change its design AGAIN, they don't have the right size or layout yet. They need to quickly figure out a "perfect" form factor -- preferably one that totally fits under your hand's FINGERS, so your hand isn't jumping around up and down and all around, and so it has half the current surface area. I feel like there are way more buttons than necessary with poor layout. And the middle bottom looks like wasted space. One more revision and they'll have an OK product. Totally agree its great for OBSCURE tools. And, in fact, I wish it came PRE-LOADED with the most common OBSCURED TOOLS for all the major art , design, and business programs, pre-programmed (maybe a list of 100 programs, or 50 programs with 2 emphases per each, or something like that, etc).
HOLY CRAP ITS EXPENSIVE. This needs to be half-sized, pre-programmed, 3/4th the amount of buttons, focus on the screen touch functions, and less than $150.
whats an abble and why does it come in a tin? fr tho this works with ableton too?! HOW SWAY IM INTERESTED
I am that person who really loves this kinda of stuff!! Thank you!!
I will paste my comment from Loupdecks video about this for lightroom: As a user of the original Loupdeck controller, wow, this was amazingly........fiddly. How on earth am I supposed to remember at all times what I have put on either button 2, or Fn+2? The contextual screen is great, but why on earth would you not put 8 twisting knobs on it so you have a 1:1 relation with colour adjustment, instead of that swiping gesture. Its faster to just use your mouse in Lightroom than this. I am confused as to who this is for or what gap in the market this plugs? Maybe its better when used in video software than Lightroom? I hope you will come with an update to the original Loupdeck with contextual button screens, and keep the 1:1 relations between buttons/Knobs and Lightroom functions. Thats why I use it. I am just very confused... Because I usually love gadgets and cool details like screens in buttons and wheels, but this was......a mess. Sorry Loupdeck.
100% with you being frustrated with 6 knobs. I like having all 8 saturation available at once rather than seeing just what I can do with reds hsl.
I camt say for this, but i have a gaming pad with a ton of macros for my video editing, and dayum. I would have to beable to use it mostly inplace of my trackball or mouse to speed me up though. It does look like it clould be fiddly.
I think they’re competing with themselves and Monogram (Palette Gear)
Is it good enough for Color correction? With Color wheels?
Loving this... I've been using Pfixer and a midi mixer for years to edit in just Lightroom and my currently problem honestly is all my gears getting smaller and the mixer is still massive. My needs are changing and the fact the CT can adapt to most the programs I use and saves me space is great. I may just have to grab this after a bit more research. Thank FS for bringing it to my attention.
Great video Lee, thank you. Love your videos. Based in part on both your reviews of the Loupedeck + and the CT, I bought BOTH! I am now trying to figure out how to best utilize each for photography and video editing in FCP X. One issue I have come up upon, and have yet to receive a reply from the folks at Loupedeck is: I wanted to add a button (for the “A” shortcut to enable and disable Automask in LR Classic) - but I cannot access the page of the adjustment brush in Loupedeck’s software. Do you have any idea how I can add a simple button to that page. The page is unfindable in the Loupedeck soft ware! Thanks Lee.
Is it compatible with CaptureOne and Final Cut Pro ? Just curious 🤨
Looks great but im not sure if its worth the price
I'll be interested to see what future software they add.
I have the last version of the loupedeck and I think it's a great tool. I'll say that the form factor on this is far more ideal than the keyboard size version. The expanded functionality is nice too... BUT the price point is WAY off the mark. At $550 you would have to very heavily include it in your work flow. Maybe the audience is there but as an upgrade to the existing device I just don't see it for pretty much double the price. I appreciate the technology and improvements here but the sticker shock is pretty extreme. In the first few minutes of the video I was thinking maybe $350 $399 tops. The cost of production on these might just be too high. I hope they have an audience for these because I do believe in the product and the company, this is just a tough sell price wise.
I agree. I have the original Loupdeck and I like it. At $200 it was pretty pricey. at over $500 I can't justify it.
Please tell me how is this suppose to increase productivity
But can it beat something as simple as a Shuttle Pro2?
Love this! Cause seriously I can't remember all of them damn keyboard shortcuts.
That is pretty cool! I run LR mostly with a ShuttlePROv2, and I was thinking about getting a Stream Deck as a companion, but this Loopedeck CT looks way better!
Can you program presets into it?
What laptop is that? The x1 extreme?
Dude, does it work with DaVinci Resolve?
what are the specs your computer needs to use this?
these types of controllers usually end up collecting dust in the corner. Yeah you might save a couple of seconds per hour if you have it perfectly mapped on something like lightroom, but is that really worth it? I'd rather drop 500 on something I KNOW im going to be using all the time.
How much is it going to cost?
Does it work with Capture One? No? Not interested
Looks like in beta now. loupedeck.com/en/software/capture-one-pro
@@joe9303 that's for loupedeck+ not the CT.
Looks great but... looks a little bit fiddly, the thing with keyboards, the original louoedeck, and tourbox is after a short time you don’t have to keep looking up or down where as with a screen I think the constant looking up and down would get annoying. I’m also sure they’ll add support but why no capture one, or other raw editor support but support for audio app instead.
Does it work in Corel painter?
Which laptop u got?
Lol its a midi controller for visual. I love it!
I mean, it looks nice, but why wouldn't I just keep using my Belkin n52?
Sticking with my Loupedeck , + but tell me about your mouse you are using the Apple mouse drives me crazy!!!!
Who edits using a mouse? Does this not work with an intuos?
Looks amazing...
Stream Deck XL plus Keyboard Maestro and game over with way more power. Keep over $250 to spend on other things.
Just bought my xp pen. And loving it.
I love my first gen loupedeck and i don't think i need an upgrade (overprice just for a shortcut!). Enough for 1 time investment. But Once used to it, can't edit without it. Its make your job faster (with powerful device).
But does it work on iPad pro
You should check out the Elgato Stream Deck.
Stream Deck XL plus support for something like a Surface Dial would be wonderful. All it needs is someone to make a proper plugin for Lightroom Classic.
This is the control surface I have been waiting for!!!!!
that thing is awesome
There is an app to program that Logitech mx master you're using to use with lightroom and configure any button or scroll wheels to do whatever you want. The name escapes me right now. You can also configure it for different apps.
Cool, I'm going to try that with my MX Master
Midi2LR...
Ok.... that’s super cool
Good information!
I would love to use this, but $550 is pretty steep!
How about capture one support?
Looks like with the right software it could be useful for streamers as well. Adjusting sound sources volumes with the nobs and using the screen buttons like an Elgato Stream Deck.
For a lot of what he's amazed about a Stream Deck XL is a better deal and has better ergonomics. The only big set is the dials, which are going to be biggest for people doing color correction. There are other programmable dials though none that I'm in love with. I suspect this will be a fine product for people who do color correction who want a smaller footprint and a little bit of a helper in other apps, but from a price perspective you can get a lot of other programmable keys and knobs for the same price.
My experience of playing something similar, and even DIYing my own: the benefit of this is, you spend MUCH less time hunting tons of sliders in lightroom with your mouse. That’s true and real time saver. But the biggest issue is, Lightroom updates regularly. When it came out with Texture, Clarity, Dehaze, these functions were nowhere to be found in the old loopdeck. So you would have to customize it again, and memorize where you put them. Trust me, there are tons of things like that. So this version looks much easier to customize and navigate, but the complexity will keep growing until you eventually go back to your mouse and keyboard. Besides, the art direction of this product design is not on par with the previous versions as well. Thanks but no thanks.
I’m actually just finding out about this but I’ll definitely be looking more into this. Looks like something that would come in handy
Might have been a nice addition to try with my workflow but $549! Throw in tax and you're looking at $600!! Thanks but no thanks, I'll stick with my Wacom Intuos tablet.
Listen, first and foremost, very cool that products are being Developed That being said, this is no faster than learning the proper keyboard shortcuts of the programs you use. Shortcut keys you can use no matter what hardware you're on. In fact this is most likely going to SLOW you down because you have to remove your eyes from the screen to look and feel for buttons.
Outrageous price...
If it works in Linux, I'm sold!
AfterEffects ?
Would love support for more software. DXO Optics support would be great!
Loupdeck CT or Loupdeck +?
It’s useful for iPad and iPhone editing
after watching this i think it looks great and i like how its smaller but it seems like the original loupedeck had everything ready to go without taking the extra steps to hit a few buttons to find the parameters you need to fix. its not much but it kinda takes more time away from the creative process which was the point of the OG loupedeck. if i wana take extra steps to look for my tools i might as well just keep clicking away or go with the OG deck. unless its abilities with ableton are extremely convenient and useful, i might as well keep navigating photoshop capture one n premiere with my mouse
Right now, the software support is only for Adobe. They say there will be future support for other software. And yes, if you are a keyboard/mouse person, I can't see how this will really benefit someone. It does look cool, but for the price, I can see just using the keyboard and mouse. But then, I don't use Adobe anything.
Oh man.. The ShortCircuit review totally puts in perspective how much of a commercial this video is.
Not convinced.. constantly having to switch panels, constantly having the same knob perform different tasks.. seems to just be very confusing.
At least the previous loopdeck had a knob for every single different (main) development item, so i could see how a workflow would get faster with the older one, muscle memory and such.
With this one, i can not really see that happening.. the price doesn’t help either
This is nice but honestly, my BEHRINGER XTOUCHMINI does the job just as well and it's under $100 bucks!
But for a mere $450 more you can do exactly what a BEHRINGER XTOUCHMINI does PLUS A CLOCK!
Troy Alton 😂😂😂
Yeah, that and it's easier to build muscle memory. After a while you basically never have to look down at the xtouchmini it just works.
On what software did you check the x touche on. Your inputs would help me a lot. Can we really use it for video editing?
Amos Samson actually got it from a guy called Brian Lovelance on yt. He shows how to map the midi controller
this is FUCKING GOLD.
No DaVinci Resolve support 😕
hopefully it works with Audition and FL studio as well
Palette Gear is also revamping their product line that is backwards compatible.
I feel like it would be more intuitive to use with my left hand, that way my right hand would not have to leave the mouse in Photoshop. Now I feel like it's constantly having to let go of my mouse. This would be less an issue in Lightroom, though
What is the name of the mouse in your hand?
Logitech MX Master
Its the new Logitech MX 3. It's amazing. www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1502446-REG/logitech_910_005647_mx_master_3_wireless.html/BI/6857/KBID/7410
Sounds great until you see the price...
did i miss the advertisment notification?
I feel like you would get the job done quicker with that MX Master 2S
This looks like a great replacement for my avid Euphonix MC transport that Avid has decided to no longer to support.
However, this is a great product priced outside of a consumer market. People need to realize that great peripherals last a long time. I am possibly looking at a JL Cooper Eclipse or Tangent Element Tk for Resolve and wanting to pair it with a great transport control.
What's the point of this? How is it more efficient than keyboard shortcuts?
This would be awesome for Reaper.
Super necessary
The price is a ridiculous. In audio you have midi controllers that are so similar but 1/3 the price
Pass. Mouse, keyboard and Wacom for me.
Still doesn’t beat the free software “Midi2Lr” and the $80 Beringer xtouch mini board for Lightroom, or Commandpost free software and same midi board for Final Cut Pro. $550 Canadian too....eeek
Just learn how to use the keyboard shortcuts guys!
Single button clicks of very commonly used shortcuts greatly increase workflow. Keyboard shortcuts aren't really made considering the ergonomics of your presses, and being able to put several shortcuts next to each other in one section is a huge helper. Sometimes even translating a key into exactly one regular key is a helper if it is placed next the other keys you are using.
The question isn't if it's possible to do it all with shortcuts, the question is "how can I use my shortcuts faster?"
That said, the positioning of the LCD buttons on this device and the lack of any physical button for the fingers to find (like on a Stream Deck) will probably take away from these advantages.
No Capture One, no sale.
They refuse to say anything about it on their social, etc. no responses to the tons of questions about C1 Pro. It really feels like they are targeting the enthusiasts who buy into the gimmicky stuff and not actual working pros.
What gets me about all these knob tools is how entirely unergonomic they are. If you sat down for an 8 hour editing session hovering your hands over that thing, your arms would be exhausted after just a few minutes. Make something with a bunch of wheels that rest under each finger s you don’t have to hover. They’re all nothing but a curiosity until you can use them for long periods of time without strain.
Nice piece but 500$...sorry never. For this price I buy a whole PC.
$549.00
@@baturindenis OK, then 😂
Thank you!!
Not worth the money for this accessory.
Gonna have to agree with Jog. That price is insane.
This would require many hours of dedicated use (and trial/error) to actually be helpful. But once you get over that hurdle, I'm sure it pays off. Big investment of money and time, it would seem.
