Every time someone posts a video about how to edit photos I never see such devices on the table, and yet they have one special video where they always claim that that thing changed their life.

I think that most people will start with just mouse and keyboard. So tutorials are based from that. Then you have all the people who are like, that's a paid ad because theyre using such and such product. So they don't want all the flack and not use them in the tutorials.

@@munkykng416 Yes, if you need something out of the box and have no time to do setup as well as money is not an issue, then and only then that thing is an option. So, I just find his review not honest to the level where I and others feel that it is another paid review/video. I first borrowed loop deck from a colleague at work to try it out. Then I watched some other fellow on youtube where he sets up a midi, that was the moment I realized I liked midi more, even without having it. I got one set it up in an hour and just kept loving it.

For those of you on the fence or saying a keyboard shortcut is faster; I bought and use this device on the reg. to color-correct in capture one (NOT lightroom). It is MUCH faster once you memorize the layout and use muscle memory to manipulate the controls (just like you do on your camera). The primary advantage to the controller not being displayed in this infantile demo, is that you can make multiple adjustments simultaneously, enter crop and crop photo with your mouse, exit crop, all without moving our mouse to various sliders. It really is faster once you get the hang of it. This moronic demo of course makes it seem slower- but trust me, once you get used to it, if you have any tactile skills whatsoever, it is far faster using the loupedeck.

I've owned a Loopedeck+ for 6 months. Everything it can do, you can already do with a mouse. So if you're comfortable with a mouse, no need to change. But there are a few places where it really helps. When you're going through a ton of pictures, rating them and flagging them is A LOT easier. The other place where it's helped me is that I have some weird OCD thing where if a setting looks great at 22, my brain says it needs to be a 20 or 25. 20 or 25 may not look as good, but that's what it needs to be. I KNOW it's stupid, but that's how it is. I can close the panel and just make the picture look its best. Also, it does reduce time searching through menu's and clicking.
I would change the individual color rollers, they click and that annoys me. it should just be a smooth roller. Also, the placement of the buttons/knobs could be better. But that's going to vary by person. Overall, I'm not disappointed in the purchase and I use it every time I edit. However, it's not a necessity.

One of the great things about the nobs and stuff, is that it feels more “intuitive” if that makes sense, and going back and forward for small adjustments “feels” better Imo. Many video Professional colourist use DaVinci panels which have similar functionality. Speed is only one factor. I don’t own one, but definitely interested.

I've had this in my Amazon cart for a few weeks now. Now that I see you working with it I get a better visual on how it would fit in my workflow. All the twisting and turning dials seems like it would get old quickly. If I want shadows at +75, I just click 3/4 of the way up the shadows slider. 1 click vs twist twist twist twist.
I don't mean that in a negative way, but you just saved me $250! I really appreciate it.
Someone else will probably love this product though, it seems like the company put a lot of thought into it. I just can't see all that twisting having a positive affect to my workflow.

A couple of years ago I was looking at this and palette. Palette was not a real option for me, mostly for show. The loop deck feels functional and pro and at 130 it's a good price. Then I found a free plugin for midi controllers. Specifically the Korg nanokontrol 2. I would have to map the buttons, knobs, and sliders myself but it was really simple. I use it 80% of the time. Controllers like these really make the editing experience more enjoyable when things start to get less enjoyable.

I see a lot of people saying that this may not speedup your work flow and that Fstoppers is paid to hype up the product.
Here is the back story behind Loupedeck.
Loupedeck was a crowd funded project on Indiegogo couple of year back.
The idea was great and they go funded within 3 days.
By the end of the 1 month long crowd funding, they hit a wooping 400% mark.
How do I know this? Well, I was one of the backers of the project because I could see huge potential on how this could speedup my wedding workflow.
Been using this for the past 2 yrs and I can't see myself going back to scrolling up and down on the develop module to make changes.
I should also admit that I haven't used the keyboard shortcuts.
Here is how I use my loupedeck.
    - Apply my basic preset on shortlisted pics.
    - Make all sorts of adjustments.
    - Perform local adjustments (using mouse in combination with loupedeck)
    - Export.
It did make a huge difference and speed up my workflow drastically.
Oh btw, the one shown here is the Loupledeck+ (version 2)
I own the 1st version they'd crowd funded.
The one thing that I don't like to do in the loupedeck is to provide star rating (which is how I usually shortlist photos)
I do that in my keyboard as the rectangular buttons on my 1st version of loupedeck aren't fluid like a keyboard)
From the video, it looks like they've fixed the issue in loupedeck+
The other thing is with regards to the knobs. A slight hit on the knob could easily rotate them. (not roll but gets easily rotated)
As you keep moving your hands here and there, it's possible to slightly bump into the knobs.
From the video it's not really clear if loupdeck+ has solved this by providing a slight tension to the knobs.
As the original loupedeck owner, I wouldn't be upgrading to loupedeck+
But I got to admit, this is completely changed how I used to process my photos.

Of course there must be some kind of benefits when using this otherwise this product would not make sense and not have made you guys defend it. For my use case, in which I heavily rely on mouse and keyboard inputs, having this would not speed up the editing process. No, the keyboard cannot fine tune the red channel saturation but once you have become familiar with the editing modules, it does not take more than 1-2 seconds to find the slider for that. If your editing process is fully covered by this device, then good for you. Some people tend to do more than just turning knobs when editing photos in which a mouse and keyboard combination is way more efficient.Try changing crop ratios quickly and most importantly, try adding guides in transform. Good luck with that.

Sure you can but knobs seem like a serious time saver. For example, if you want to use the arrows to adjust exposure you can do that by clicking the exposure slider and tapping the arrows, then if you want to make a quick sharpening adjustment? Well, you will have to use your mouse scroll down to the details panel, open it, click the sharpening slider to adjust the sharpness with arrows. With this tool, just turn the knobs and you move on. This is incredible! I shoot sports and some games I can have 1200 to 2000 files to cull! I'm buying this for sure.

My biggest concern is that Adobe adds new sliders and makes constant layout improvements. That leads me to think that the Loupedeck may quickly become obsolete. At $170 to $250, that is a big investment that may not payoff over the long term. Dehaze has become a key adjustment and I do not see any way to assign that. Thanks for the review.

Sponsored or not.. Its a nice video. BUT. Get a Behringer BCF2000 and some free software and you can edit your faders and knobs the way YOU like it. Also: Lightroom adds and removes features. How would the hardware implement new features? Reminds me of that quote that Steve Jobs told about his first iPhone: "People that build their own software, should build their own hardware".
Maybe this Loupedeck-thing is nice for beginners. But my dad for example is a total computer-noob. I set him up with the BCF2000 and printed out some colorlabels for that. Now he´s editing his images way faster than he could with the loupedeck...

Problem with this solution is it's very limited. I want something bigger/better that covers ALL my electronic needs.
I'm waiting for Keyboard manufactures to get their tackle together. Currently have one with 16 macro keys (Corsair KG95 RGB). Macros are fantastic. And when I swap to Lr or a game or a default profile, the macros switch for that profile, so does the mouse of course.
The only problem now is I have to remember which key does what.
IMAGINE .. the Legato Steam Deck functionally integrated into a keyboard. It is inevitable. I wish it would be inevitable faster.
Imagine the power of something like this compared to a single use Loupedeck. I personally think it is old technology .. and my dream tech isn't even out yet lol.
