This is classic rock/pop and as such has become timeless. It will still be popular in 50/100 years time. How many songs of the sixties are still featuring regularly today on radio and youtube? You have to remember what the music scene was like in the mid sixties when Sgt. Peppers came out. It was a million miles ahead of anything else.

It is hard for me to say this, but I think it may be the fact that he cannot interact with the audience as well if he is behind the drums the whole time. For most of his songs, he would usually just sing and have someone else play drums. I still think he can drum the way he can back then despite not being behind the drums most of the time, but the truth is, he has already done so much as a Beatle back then that he deserves someone else to play for him while he interacts with the audience closer on stage. We all know how much he has done for us. Now, we have to give him what he deserves. For now, I guess he will play drums for songs with fun drumbeat. Does that make sense?
And, you can listen to Muse, Ratt, Maroon 5, 30 Seconds To Mars, Placebo. They are well bellow into the microphone. Their songs are sing in the streets of all the world.
