I felt like the Maxell tape guy sitting in a chair being blown away by the sound coming out of the speaker….at 8 years old in a movie theater. It has been my favorite song since I was 8….I am 60 now….EVERY time I hear it, it moves my soul and I get chills. I’ve heard a lot of music…this song changed the life of a little girl musically…

@@gojurymusichem Absolutely. And this from a classical music and jazz fanatic. So, absolutely. I'd put him up there with Puccini, Verdi, Billy Strayhorn. I could go on, but too many greats. Did you know he wrote "Let it Be" about his mother, who died when he was young? Her name was Mary. "Mother Mary comes to me, speaking words of wisdom". Heartbreaking. He also wrote "Hey Jude" for Julian Lennon about his awful father abandoned him in favour of heroin and Yoko Ono. The man is a genius.

What immortalizes ancient songs is that they tell a story, whether sad, happy or fun. “People identify with what is sung and end up listening to it for many years”. If the music that is reproduced today has a profit objective, “the new generations are looking to the past. I now listen to old songs that tell stories that have not been lived, but with lyrics that are so current that they reverberate in the present”,

When you were young and your heart
    Was an open book
You used to say live and let live
    (You know you did)
    (You know you did)
    (You know you did)
But if this ever changin' world
    In which we live in
Makes you give in and cry
    Say live and let die
    Live and let die
What does it matter to ya
When you got a job to do you got to do it well
You got to give the other fella hell
You used to say live and let live
    (You know you did)
    (You know you did)
    (You know you did)
But if this ever changin' world
    In which we live in
Makes you give in and cry
    Say live and let die
    Live and let die

This is one of McCartney's solo greats. I like the Guns and Roses' version as well.

Apparently, years back, when G n R's did a cover of it Paul's young son was round the house with some of his mates.
One of them said to Paul - "You want to check out this song by Guns & Roses called *"Live & Let Die,"* it's really good!" - True story as told by the man himself. 👍

"Live And Let Die" and "Goldfinger" chose movie settings in what Americans on the left and right coasts would call forgettable, flyover country. Fortunately, the producers selected awesome theme songs that are still earworms today: Thank you, Paul/Linda and Shirley.

James McCartney Sr. died of bronchial pneumonia on 18 March 1976. Jim died two days before a Wings European tour, and his elder son was unable to attend the funeral. James McCartney's last words to Paul were "skip my funeral the show must go on".

For reasons I can't really explain I never really liked The Beatles all that much. But I greatly enjoyed the solo efforts of all the members so much more. This is a great song and the stage lighting was great for it as well.
