While the physics are still considered simulator and do a pretty good job, especially compared to PC1. They are not as good as other games like Rfactor2. But things PC2 does amazingly well is VR and the weather system. I mean goddamn puddle forming at a laser scanned track where actualy puddles would form in real life, while the weather can change over time. I am curious of PC3, but i am also afraid they will fuck it up.
once it is setup properly for your wheel, it feels every bit as good as AC and the graphics blow AC out of the water. AC has better multiplayer however for sure. Moving away from G2x wheels is first step to know what FFB should feel like. After g25.27.29, i tried tspc racer, for the money, it is just miles better in everyway. $240 on sale. PC2 also lets you map 'recenter vr' to wheel. This is critical and missing in every other racing game. I use it every time i get in a car, so nice. AC / PC2 / Rally1 and 2 are why I have VR. Wish F1 would release in VR, until they do, I won't buy.
My god that was awesome. I came just to check your rig and stayed all the way to the end. Really exciting race, it just got better and better, you killed it man!
I've been playing a lot of PCARS 2 in VR and it's amazing. Surpassed my expectations for sure. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to take their sim racing to the next level.
Because of the steam sale right now I'm watching some old video's of you. To help make my decision RF2, PC2 or Automobilista. This is one of your best video's ever!! You can really hear the immersion in your voice!
IMMERSION: Isn't this what we all want from sim racing? This is where PCARS2 delivers more than many other games - only surpassed by GTR2: I never understood how hours are spent discussing minute details of cars none of us ever drove or will drive, while (some very vocal) sim racers gladly ignore the lack of weather, time of day, pit stops, safety cars, ... I much rather like to see a complete game like GTR2 than another physics tech demo! ps: Getting up late on Sunday morning and watching the sun rise over Daytona on the official (!) live stream is one of my favourite motorsport experiences all year. pps: The Jaguar V12 engine is a masterpiece of engineering: Decades of powering the finest road and racing cars there are.
Imho, PCars 2 might not be the best sim in terms of physics, but it is the most complete sim package that is available today. Followed by automobilista.
@@Snipes432 So far, I have not bought Automobilista. For me, it seemed strange to buy a new game based on the dated gmotor / pmotor engine, which even lacks some of GTR2's and Race 07's features (weather!). Furthermore, I found the whole charade about Reiza's next, truly new, game rather off-putting. You may have a rather good argument to change my mind, however ;)
@@Freezorgium It still has its weaknesses, I agree. However, I prefer its concept to the "our tyre model is perfect - ten times in a row" of other sims.
Frank Schröder I think it is because it takes time to make sure the AI difficulty is correct because each car and track combo requires a different difficulty to be equal with the AI even if your skill with each car and track is the same. Also, as Jimmy said not every car is as good as this.
Because he does a lot of multiplayer racing... That's where PC2 is a big no-no. At least for the people who own as much stuff in iRacing as Jimmy. Trust me, you would prefer iRacing too. :D If you had his equipement, his skill and his iRacing content, you would forget about PC2 just as he does. :D
@@michalvalta5231 He also does F1 2018 and even BeamNG vidoes, so that can´t be the reason. Anyway, I see him enjoying his time in PC2 so all I suggested was doing some more stuff like this. As for the different sims: each to one´s own. :)
Really enjoyed this. Thank you Jimmy. I just wish more people on PCARS2 would race Gr. C cars. I try to make lobbies with races similar to period. But instead all your see is a literal page of GT3 lobbies.
JIMMER! that might just be my favorite of all your videos! That was a blast to watch. Hearing the joy in your voice as you get distracted by a ferris wheel is just the best, took us right into the car with you! Thanks for that! Keep these coming!

A favorite of mine is Group 6, Group 5, and Group 4 multiclass at Vintage Le Mans with rain coming in partway through the race, and everyone goes scrambling in the pits to change tires while you're looking for your pitcrew. Like in real life, the 935 is super OP and can keep up with the Group 6 prototypes.

ACC is looking very good so far! I mean in VR. Heavy rain in night, that awesome wind noise at high speeds, cool experience... Let's hope that game doesn't flop! :)

Funny you mention karting when you race this track. I've actually karted on this track IRL. I'm not sure it still exists but there was a WKA 4 Cycle kart event at the speedway the day after Christmas every year when I was young. In total I attended 3 years and drove 2 of them (1st year I just watched my dad). You really don't appreciate how big the speedway is until you're an inch off the ground and praying the sooped up lawnmower engine next to you doesn't throw a rod into your right arm as you turn crazy RPM down the back straight. The walls are HUGE and the black marks where cars hit them seem to last for miles. We never did the bus stop, always went straight, but we did the in field. As lame as it sounds, most of the time you're on the speedway you're down on the apron, the banking is slower in a kart. But on out and in laps everyone would go up on the banking just to feel the steepness. My first year I spun out on pit exit. It rained that morning (typical Florida), the track was dry, pit exit.. not so much. Second year I spun in the tight right hander after the international horseshoe. While the corner worker was helping me push back on track, another guy spun and slammed into my kart. I thought I was done but somehow dad and Grandpa fixed it up enough in time that I still got to race. Needless to say I never became a F1 driver, but it was definitely a lot of fun, and I'd recommend it to anyone. Though like any motorsport, it's expensive AF to stay competitive. I have many memories at the speedway, been to multiple 500s, was there when we lost Dale Sr., section K row 2 seat 2. :( I got more stories but I'll save them for the 24hr, lol.

I don't have any brand or type of game system or computer good enough for gaming, so approximately one year ago, I became familiar with watching youtubers videos displaying content that I find most entertaining. wow did you see all the audience in the audience stand soooo realistic you can see the glee on their individual unique faces cheering you on and wildly jumping for joy in exhilerating excitement whilst cheering you on.... amazing
I'm glad you agree PC2 is the best for VR immersion.
Not necessarily the best sim.
But for the total overall package. It's the most immersive.
@@hoen2009 I'm right there with you. Especially with the recent information from SMS.
@@Mikey6048 i hope they make the physics even more realistic whilst keeping up the great work with the things you both said.
once it is setup properly for your wheel, it feels every bit as good as AC and the graphics blow AC out of the water.
Amazing vid Jimmer. Made even better through your commentary. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do more Le Man classics!
Gareth Noble agreed
Besides the sim quality, I'm impressed by the play-by-play commentary while you're driving. This is a hoot.
I much rather like to see a complete game like GTR2 than another physics tech demo!
ps:
Getting up late on Sunday morning and watching the sun rise over Daytona on the official (!) live stream is one of my favourite motorsport experiences all year.
pps:
The Jaguar V12 engine is a masterpiece of engineering: Decades of powering the finest road and racing cars there are.
True, never felt so good than lapping gt at lemans with my ts040 while the sun going down
Imho, PCars 2 might not be the best sim in terms of physics, but it is the most complete sim package that is available today. Followed by automobilista.
@@Thibouu
Day-to-night transitions are stunning to witness "in" a racecar
@@Snipes432
So far, I have not bought Automobilista. For me, it seemed strange to buy a new game based on the dated gmotor / pmotor engine, which even lacks some of GTR2's and Race 07's features (weather!). Furthermore, I found the whole charade about Reiza's next, truly new, game rather off-putting.
You may have a rather good argument to change my mind, however ;)
@@Freezorgium
It still has its weaknesses, I agree. However, I prefer its concept to the "our tyre model is perfect - ten times in a row" of other sims.
Hey Jimmer, you don´t do many PC2 vids but each time you do you seem to be enjoying it immensely, so why not giving us a few more of these?
Might have been one of your best videos to date mate. Loved your enthusiasm in this race!
Really enjoyed this. Thank you Jimmy. I just wish more people on PCARS2 would race Gr. C cars. I try to make lobbies with races similar to period. But instead all your see is a literal page of GT3 lobbies.
I honestly don't know what was more exciting...the commentary or the race! Great video!
The intro on this aged well.... Well done jimmer x
I'm brand new to sim racing, your channel, and others like it. This video is hands down the most entertaining I've seen yet.
That red sauber going into turn 1 😂 my spirit animal.
JIMMER! that might just be my favorite of all your videos! That was a blast to watch. Hearing the joy in your voice as you get distracted by a ferris wheel is just the best, took us right into the car with you! Thanks for that! Keep these coming!
Mate you should lap the Nordschleife in reverse, the first time is pretty cool
I tried this, bloody difficult when you have forward down really well 😂
Great idea, I will give a try tonight!
"especially on weed, man"
Just got my first taste of Asseto Corsa in VR... Dude, I'm so hooked.
Took a while to get my wheel and everything going, years really, but I'm finally in and while it lasts, I plan to go hard.
Thanks for all the content, Jimjam.
The IMSA 280ZX Turbo is hilariously fast as well
This completely blows my mind. I don't know how I found this channel but awesome. I would love this set up...
Please make more pCARS 2 videos/streams!!! I love this!
14:32 The glowing brakes on the Lambo, top notch. Never been to Daytona but go to Sebring every year. The glowing brakes at night is still so cool after all these years.
Thank god people still play pcars 2
I play daily. Im not a hardcore sim racer. I just enjoy it. Pcars meets all my needs for that and its absolutely beautiful
I’ve been playing it less as of late but only because I haven’t been playing sims in general for a while. When I do, PCARS 2 is my go to sim.
i'm still playing version 1 - will upgrade when they bundle things up
@@cherrypopper7653 you will delete pc1 the minute you drive pc2. They fixed so many issues, namely the ability to save unlimited setups, which is crucial as you build out your cars setup. Also as jimmer said, immersion and graphics amazing as is FFB. I would only rate Rally 2 as more immersive, it also drives so well as compared to rally 1.
Totally agreed. The VR immersion is pretty hard to beat.
Jimmy, I watch a ton of your videos and I stumbled on this one today. I think it's the most enjoyable sim racing video I have ever watched on RUclips. Great work man!
At first when you said that the 24h was going to happen irl I was like "oh 24h Daytona? With the pandemic and all?" then I saw that this is a 2019 video, damn it hit me
My God Jimmy, how in the world can you produce this level of commentary while you are driving??? You sir are an ALIEN!! Incredible.
That opening, story of my life
That opening line about wishing Jimmer was a racing driver hits different in 2023
"lets get on the inside of this Lambo..... Not sure why HE'S there, bless him... but i'll give him a free pass" I Love the shade lmaoo
That was absolutely magnificent. Pure adrenaline. I was completely glued and watching this has made my mind up. Got to do this !
get a rift S its worth it for racing...seeing it in full 3d running at full frames per second is magnificient...no youtube video can convey that to you even though this one is indeed pretty cool but it's nothing compared to what HE'S seeing.
For all its faults, there is a LOT to be said for PC2, especially in VR. Its one of the most amazing VR racing games I've ever played. The sheer sense of speed on those Daytona circuits in a race like that is unparalleled in my opinion.
ACC is looking very good so far! I mean in VR. Heavy rain in night, that awesome wind noise at high speeds, cool experience... Let's hope that game doesn't flop! :)
@@Taze00 I use vivepro - the blurry/fog issue is annoying & also strange. It comes & goes. After hearing Jimmy's comments here & reading the comment further up I'm going to try letting the headset run for a while before putting it on. Overall though, wouldn't be without it. When it's clear, it's crystal clear & the immersion is real!
I was having a similar issue with the rift, upgraded to the odyssey + and its crystal clear, text looks 100 times better and you can see much further. The anti screen door effect tech is the best. I highly reccomend it
@@teabagmcpick889 ten to one , you are overheating. if it ever looks right then doesn't, your system is throttling back. I had to add a push/push fan config to my water cooler when i made the move to VR. download a temp sensor, if you go over 60, cpu and video card will throttle back, up to 80%. I used to hit close to 90, now not seen over 50 degrees. Also, putting games and swap file on a fast ssd will add 30% framerates, cheapest upgrade you will ever make. And yes, you need a swap file, no matter how much memory you have.
@@boscomoroz326 No. System is quite good, everything maxed with SS at 2.0 in game. The issue was that I was overheating inside the headset which was much cooler & simply fogging it. Headset on for 10 minutes before use & a box fan behind pedals aimed straight at me & we're golden.
This video brought me back into vr simracing and I've been enjoying it ever since. Thanks for that!
And now Codemasters has ruined the Project Cars franchise by turning it into an arcade game that has weak graphics and lacks any originality. Such disservice to all the ppl who helped crowdfund for it at the beginning.
Ong bro I was really stoked for the update car lists but as soon as they was like “aye uhhhh we ain’t doin that on this game.......or ever” I died
The SMS team still did it, doubt codemasters had anything to do with this failure
We can just keep playing PC2
Y'know, just to send them a message about how shit their new game is. Cause PC2 DEFINITELY isn't a 10/10 game, but it's still WAAAAAY ahead of PC3.
Codemasters has nothing to do with it
@@CarlosFlores-pl3lb PC2 is not perfect, but it has a ton of soul somehow. You just find a good car-track combo, a comfortable setup, and drive through the night, forgetting everything else. Games with soul are the best.
Some of the best and most exhilarating racing I've ever had the pleasure of watching. Easily subbed.
Me at the 2-minutes-to-go mark: "COME ON JIMMY! YOU GOT THIS GOOOO"
Great videos.
Absolute CLASSIC vid. I remember this first time round, the lockdown watching jimmer days. Just popped back on my feed had to watch again before i get out of bed this sunday morning Dec 2022. Im sim racing alday gonna have to race PC2 this track for an hr then watching England World Cup footy match. 👍
I got more stories but I'll save them for the 24hr, lol.
Cool! Thanks for the story
Sometimes energy is infectious. I put this video on as a bit of background noise and found myself glued to it.
The passion is real. And you totally got a sub being a man who references Rush Hour 2 bloopers in another vid I saw.
If you ever want to come experience the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona 4 day event, let me know. It's an event that everyone should really experience once in their life.
the last 5 minutes of the video is amazing, cant believe there is that much excitement from a video game sim! very cool!
You know. You can go karting as an adult. Its pretty damn good fun!
True, but to be a really competitive professional race driver, you gotta start soon. Most professional race drivers starts at age 8-9 or earlier.
@@aboriani No doubt. Started at 10 myself. Drove professionaly until I was 20. That said, I see alot of 30+ guys like me now picking it up and having a blast racing against mates. Its not "too late" even for an adult. And its a killer workout as well.
@@aboriani and then you've got Lewis Hamilton started at 5
But sim racing is more fun, with proper equipement. You can do so much stuff with it. Also, when your height is above 190cm, karting kinda sucks. xD

You really add flavor and excitement to these races. Quality content 👌
F for footcam. btw, this video was FANTASTIC
Man your announcing skills are amazing!
(0:10) Well that didn't age very well
OH man that was so awesome!! Hands down, the best racing game and most exciting race I have ever witnessed. Impressive VR immersion, so realistic, I was literally raising my voice expressing my excitement over your competitive racing style. My eyes glued to my laptop screen, cheering you on, clapping and carrying on. Your racing skills in this video are very impressive, and your commentaries are "top notch"; also very impressive, informative, direct and easy to understand, creating a clear picture of the entire experience. You seem to be a professional motorsports announcer, in my opinion. I don't have any brand or type of game system or computer good enough for gaming, so approximately one year ago, I became familiar with watching youtubers videos displaying content that I find most entertaining. It seems to me that a significant amount of the games I see people play, are just as much fun to watch as they would be to play them myself. With that said, I appreciate you playing, streaming and uploading videos of the games that somewhat pull such excitement (kicking over foot pedal cam kind of excitement), out of me. That is the reason why I became a subscriber to your channel today. Thank you!
9:05 'that's what she said' cracked me up!
LOL, i scrolled down the comments and when i read this he said it one second later 😂
That sunrise was absolutely spectacular. Looks an incredible experience with VR, and lovely to see someone appreciating it. Keep it up Jimmer.
This guy has a racing commentators voice!
The sound on ProjCars really adds to the experience, it's raw and adds so much. love these vids :)

Wow. This guy is great. I know it's a limited market, but you should have at least 1 million subs given your high-end content/setup, talent/skill in-game, and commentary! Remarkable stuff, man. Had to sub right away!
I need to inject this into my veins.
Great race, Jimmy! Your excellent driving and enthusiastic commentary really makes for great viewing. As always, well done.
Project CARS 2 does have some bad points, but so does every sim. It also has a lot of good points, so des every other sim. But something I've only experienced in PC2 is the occasional "incredible" moment whilst driving.
+1
Agreed. Went through a rainstorm transitioning into fog at night racing at Fiji.
Although the fog only lasted for 2 laps it was terrifying at night with a wet track in VR, really felt like I was there pushing the car to limit with zero visibility of the corner I was trying to take flat!
Absolutely Awesome. Your commentary 8s just spectacular...this makes this video so special.
