The Lance Stroll of NASCAR. he has his moments sure, but lets be real. People are just gonna remember them as "the driver that got in because their parents are the team owners"
I think the win he deserves the most credit for is the 2017 Coke 600. fuel mileage wins are thing in motorsport. We’ve had some of the most prestigious races come down to fuel mileage. As for Austin Dillon, he really needs to step it up this year
Austin is one of those drivers that exist. Aric almirola , Paul menard , Daniel Suarez . They all have like 1 great season and then that’s it . Aric in 2018 , Paul in 2014 , Daniel in 2022 and Austin in 2016.
In my opinion Austin Dillon's most impressive races are the 2020 Richmond playoff race and the 2023 Bristol Dirt race. Ran top 5 all day and could have won both races. 2022 Spring Martinsville gets an honorable mention as he was the only car able to pass all day and made it up to second from starting 23rd. He also tied Denny Hamlin for the transfer spot to the Round of 8 in 2016 but lost the tiebreaker. I actually like Dillon and want to see him succeed, but I don't see him improving with Keith Rodden on the pit box.
not a dillon fan but he had the 16th in 2014, 21st in 2015, 18th in 2016, 19th in 2017, 17th in 2018, 22nd in 2019, 15th in 2020, 11th in 2021, 14th in 2022 and 29th in 2023, best avg finish of all fulltime cup drivers. its not great but not the worst.
It's only one race, but Dillon was the guy to beat at the end of the 2020 Darlington playoff race. If that race was 5 or 10 laps longer, then he would've won it. And it is only one race, but it is something
the fact that KB comes to the team and in one season almost gets as many wins in the same equipment as AD has for 9 years is wild. also completely off topic but what are your thoughts on bowman i don’t really know how to judge him
He's good but what makes him look bad to a lot of fans is that he's teammates with 3 great driver's. He's consistent and can run top 10 but you won't find him consistently competing for wins week after week like his other 3 teammates. I know his back injury effected him last year. We'll see if he's better this year
This guy should've been let go before he even won a race 3½ years into his career... he wound up winning two crown jewels in the span of a year on accident. Austin Hill should've been in that car by like 2022.
Austin Dillon is a really good driver, in a series of great drivers. He's earned his place in the sport, maybe even in the cup series, but we all know the reason why he's still in a top ride.
Omg THIS video literally puts every single one of the same exact thoughts I've had on this silver spoon punk for a long time now. The fact there are people that think he is an "underrated" driver baffles me, no he's not, he is absolute trash, mediocre at best, and the sad part is he is guaranteed to stay in that 3 car till the day he hangs it up which infuriates me, but TY is over here rummaging for scraps trying to salvage what little of a career he has left. ALL of Austin's "wins" don't impress me at all, especially his 500 win just dumping Aric for the win that was BS. The only one I can at least give some credit for is his first win yes it is fuel mileage but we have seen them done before many times over and while not the flashiest it is still something to go off of. But Austin is for better or worse one of the worst drivers in cup right now, and the fact he has been in that 3 car for 10 years at this point and hasn't done anything in it, says a lot but that's RCR for you, favors favoritism and generational talents to carry them over results. Also Austin is an absolute clown always pointing fingers like he never does anything wrong when he wrecked himself at Pocono and gateway this past season, just an absolute joke, dude's a fraud.
it’s not gonna happen until RCR fires keith rodden (AD3) crew chief. dillon went from a top 15-10 driver from 2014-2022 most weeks to barley being able to contend for top 20 finishing position as soon as keith rodden was hired in place of justin alexander
Such a good video recapping Dillons career so far. No way in hell a driver like him should be in the 3, thats just more reason to not be a fan. Wouldn't have won 2022 Daytona if not for the wreck, and from my pov, he spins Almirola to win the 500. The fact Almirola didnt find him after, was beyond me... Guess thats just one mediocre driver letting another mediocre driver slide lol
2022 where he only got into the playoffs because he bumped cindric in the middle of a turn at 195 mph? (btw he also tried to get cindric suspended the next year for much less)
How many people in the cup series rn have an xfinity championship and almost 4 cup wins I would argue hes one of the best daddys cash drivers in racing
I saw a funny YT short of trump yesterday and ironically it applies here to Austin Dillon. “The worst employee is a good employee. A bad employee, you can fire and move on from. A good employee does just enough where they’re too good to be fired, but they never do anything to stand out or prove their worth” I don’t care if you vote left right up or down, that is the perfect description of Austin Dillon as a NASCAR Employee.
RCR hasn’t been a champion caliber team in years. I believe they fell off many years ago. I’d like to believe AD is good driver..but maybe on another team that has a better chance on being a winning contention car. Busch is good addition to RCR but idk for how long.
AD plummeted in 2023, having his worst season to date; 29th in points with just 1 top 5 and only 7 top tens, and worst of all, *TEN* DNF’s, which was the most of all Cup drivers in 2023.
don’t forget the Dillon brothers’ father, Mike Dillon, was absolute dogshit in the 21 busch series car in 2000-2001, could barely muster top 15s. ended up being replaced by Mike Skinner and a few other drivers after an injury, who all had no problems getting that car in the top 10, top 5, and victory lane. obviously Austin is not his father, he’s had much more success and is clearly a better racecar driver. but what’s interesting is that after being replaced in the 21, Mike Dillon joined the business side of RCR and i fully expect Austin to do the same thing when he eventually retires. that man Richard really needs to stop letting nepotism affect the performance of his race cars
He's more of a business type person to me. He should go into management for Richard and enjoy life. Maybe get a late model car or a dirt car and play around and help local tracks on the weekends. I had more expectations from him than he showed. He's literally making Dale Sr's car and legacy look bad! RCR shouldn't accept NOTHING LESS than at least a harvick caliber driver! Great video my friend and GOD BLESS 🙏❤️✌️
100 percent agreed. I think he needs to move on to running RCR in some capacity, a role I think he would excel in, and hand the 3 over to someone more deserving.
I love this channel just found it today but i will say i like Austin Dillon alot i got his autograph before his last daytona win and he walked in the rain to sign my event badge and i saw him again saturday at the bass pro meet up and we were talking back and forth having a good time but i also agree with a lot in this video
Thanks for liking the channel :) Yea I heard some others say austin isn't that bad I just go off what I seen on TV . Who knows maybe my thoughts on him will change in the future. I wanna see him turn his performance around too but he hasn't shown any signs of that so far
Don't forget that in the 2022 Daytona race, some of the only cars on the lead lap afterwards included Austin Dillon, his teammate, Cindric, the 77, 78, 62, and both RWR cars. Some of those cars probably had damage too, and not to mention race control let them race even while rain was coming down. Really unimpressive win no matter how you slice it
The difference is while Jeffrey also is awful, he at least had terrible equipment that never had any shot of winning any race. Austin gets somewhat decent equipment and does nothing with it
@@HattieJosh alpha prime Stefan Parsons almost won at least two races with alpha prime I mean I don't mind the guy but I don't think he deserves some of the rides he gets like a rcr alpha prime a Joe Gibbs racing Sam hunt racing rides. In my opinion I believe the only reason he still is in nascar is because of his last name.
I see him more of a business owner and a talent scout for the team, he's going to be like Richard in the regards that he's going to have the reins to the team but as far as driving goes, it leaves a LOT to be desired and especially out of a championship caliber cup team
100% agree on everything except his Daytona 500 win. Almirola blocked, ergo he knew what he was getting himself into. Dillon was in a “lift and get wrecked from the guy pushing me or don’t lift and wreck the guy in front of me” position.
I was at Charlotte Coca Cola last night. Would love to see the 3 go to the top but Austin drove to the back and rode the middle of the track. Didn’t even try to move up or find a fast line. Just stayed out of the way and was proud of how shiny his sponsors ads looked on the car. So disappointed with RCR. It’s just a safe money grabber for Dillion.
austin is a b level driver in a b level car. the numbers he has put up in his career just seem right to me. and since hes 33 and most drivers peak in their late 30's, i think hes already pretty close to his peak performance.
34 is the average peak age for most drivers. A handful peaked later, and some peak way earlier, but 34 is pretty close to average. 33.9 is actually the average age of Cup champions.
I met Austin in 07 when he was racing a crate late model. I knew he would drive the 3 in Cup back then. I remember also they were caught cheating more than once.
Good analysis. The old man is.... well.... a bit old at this point.... so Austin should take over the Nascar teams and business management. Then... Kyle Busch moves to the 3 and it opens up the 8 for someone like Corey Heim. I would say it's 60% likely Busch was enticed by "suggesting he could someday drive the 3." Austin is not dumb. Another season or two of no wins and he needs to move aside, and probably will. Worst case scenario... Austin wins this year.
Fun fact: Since the invention of loop data in 2005, Austin has the most wins of any driver that has never had the best driver rating in a single race. Definitely one of the most "meh" inducing drivers in Cup history. While Danica is undoubtedly the worst driver who had five years in good equipment, I would argue that she was at least marginally better than David Stremme or Jason Leffler. And if you include drivers from lousy teams, I'd take her over Kevin Conway, Joey Gase, Timmy Hill, Buckshot Jones, Gary Bradberry, Stanton Barrett, Tommy Gale or Paul Dean Holt.
Bubba Wallace has been in cup for over 5 years. He doesn’t impress me at all. He has 2 wins and one was rain shortened. Kansas was a good win but if Kurt busch wasn’t injured and bubba was in the 23 bubba would not have won that. Bubba is so overrated. Bubba only made the playoffs due to having two hms drivers being injured.
I'm happy when he wins because he's in a Chevrolet, but, he's a bum. He was only the best driver at RCR in the 1 season that Hemric was his teammate. I agree with you about losers holding on to good seats. However, nepotism and sponsorship dollars run the show too often in motorsports, especially NASCAR.
I mean. Say what you want about Austin Dillon he's one of the most hated drivers. Yeah. When he's good he's good. when bad he's bad. Dieheart Earnhardt fans hate the fact that he drives the 3 car and consider him a Disgrace to the number. But to be fair this past season. Im not making Excuses for Austin but. Despite him being 26th in The standings in this past season His Brand new Teammate got 3 wins and made it to Round 2 of the Playoffs having more starts than an Injured chase still Finished behind him in the standings and Being Plagged with Penalties but also he's got one of the worst Crew chiefs in the Cup series in Keith Rodden anyone that is a Kahne fan knows what im talking about. Also i can't stand the double standards as a fan. Truex Lost twice to Austin Dillon. Austin Dillon Knocked out MTJ out of the playoffs and Truex Lost to Austin Dillon at Charlotte By running out of gas and I dont hear anyone Clowning Truex saying. TRUEX LOST TWICE TO AUSTIN DILLON LMFAO!!!! AUSTIN DILLON IS A LEGEND FOR KNOCKING MTJ OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS! Similar to how Everyone clowns Elliott for losing twice to Michael McDowell i don't hear anyone calling MTJ a two time Loser to Austin Dillon but yeah. Also. He's way way way to reliant on Justin Alexander. When slugger was his crew chief. He was just bad. Justin comes back and Almost makes it to the round of 8 of the playoffs in 2020 And Nearly Beat Harvick after MTJ and chase took each other out that race. Like i said. When he's good he's good but when hes bad. He's just really bad
I'm still pissed that he fucked Cindric out of the season sweep at Daytona and his dangerous bullshit move was deemed okay because of the playoff spot? such bullshit. THEN he tried to get NASCAR to suspend Cindric for much less the next year.
💯 Austin has the 4th worst stats in 23 while Kyle Bush won 3 races being in his 1st year with the team. AD has always performed under his teammates. Hang it up already. Harvick was right spoiled brats. to arrogant to do the right thing & join the office & help his grandpa. RCR was the top team. Its going to be only KB holding up any credibility.
Ever since the next gen car has arrived, I think it’s exposed Austin’s talent compared to other drivers in top and mid tier rides doing better than him. I think 2024 will be his last year and I think Daniel Suarez will replace him. Also when you said the Ty Dillon fans would come after you, “All 10 of them” I wanted to roll on my floor laughing
Austin Dillion and Sticky Rinhouse have to be the worst drivers in the field rn. Both of them just continue having weekly wrecks and their only wins are luck wins or at someone else's misfortune
0:35 "Those wins don't mean shit to me" I almost spit out my water that line delivery was so good 🤣
This is 100% the reality when it comes to Austin Dillon.

Nobody should be in the 3
@@camdog2520oh I know. Honestly it still shocks me that Richard brought the Number back in 14. But hey that's just me
Get him out of that car and away from that number. Only one driver can have that number
Based
I'm still pissed that he fucked Cindric out of the season sweep at Daytona and his dangerous bullshit move was deemed okay because of the playoff spot? such bullshit. THEN he tried to get NASCAR to suspend Cindric for much less the next year.
Difference is, Cindric didn't wreck at Daytona but he wrecked Dillon at Gateway.
@@UncannyEXP dillon wrecked himself XD
also a huge difference in speed at those tracks
💯 Austin has the 4th worst stats in 23 while Kyle Bush won 3 races being in his 1st year with the team. AD has always performed under his teammates. Hang it up already. Harvick was right spoiled brats. to arrogant to do the right thing & join the office & help his grandpa. RCR was the top team. Its going to be only KB holding up any credibility.
..................you already know.
plus rubbins racing
Richmond
A has been that never was!
DAMN
Bro is speaking straight facts
He sucks. And he has defiled the number 3. RCR should have kept that number retired like they promised Dale senior's mother.
I think you gave him too much credit. Plus you forgot to mention his dumb logo he insists on plastering everywhere.
Aric should have won that 500. Austin is a disgrace in my opinion.
