I've been a fan for 40 years and this is my favorite era by far
Absolutely brilliant! Sadly this era is often overlooked because of the 80s stuff.
Not mine. Soon would come The Zoo and Still Loving You - in my opinion the best of them. This ear reminds of Queen meets .... Something less talented ...
the first 3 albums are incredible and this is one of the tip top highlights. Only bested by the Sails of Charon which is one of my favorite songs of all time. The opening solo in that song is beyond words.
edit: I meant to say the first five albums! Virgin Killer has it's moments and Taken By Force is incredible!
Uli’s influence. Brilliance!
Ive been a Fan since 1984, didn't discover their 70's stuff till 1993.
This is Good rare Footage because uli roth is actually playing with his Eyes OPEN! LOL
They're all in great form in this show. Uli's smokin' guitar. But Klaus' growl is really something.
If you are reading this, it doesn't matter where you are right now on this planet, I wish you a wonderful night and a happy. peaceful life where all your dreams come true.
Same to you! 🙏🏼
It's so great to see live footage from their early years. Uli is really one of the best guitarists of all time and Dark Lady is one of my favorite songs by him.
Agreed! Love watching these live early recordings. Uli is the Jimi Hendrix of Europe. I love watching Uli play in the song Polar Nights. His masterful guitar playing is incredible to watch.
i love uli. there is a fluidity and confidence in his playing.
it's very disappointing not to see him in the list of the great guitarists.
He's not just playing solos, he incorporates styles from jazz, blues, folk and classical. A lot of metal guitarists are simply overrated and are just throwing solos, but UJR, he's a different story.
All due respect, yes Matthias Jabs is a very good guitarist but of course UJR is far superior in technicality and flexibility.
Their best line-up (K.Meine/R.Schenker/U.Roth/F.Buchholz/R.Lenners) which resulted in their two best albums, In Trance and Virgin Killer !
Don't agree. Taken by force and Fly to the rainbow are better imo.
@@babylon333 To each his own !
I like Tokyo tapes......but ....
Couldn’t agree more. Both of those albums are rock solid and have stood the test of time. I don’t fault them for going in a more commercial direction. I mean obviously it worked. I even kind of like some of the stuff they were doing on the Lovedrive album, but after a while it became this formula that they were shackled to. The ‘75-‘76 period is a lot more interesting to me. Uli was really laying it down.
I forgot that Herman Rarebell wasn't in the band yet at this time.
Uli Roth doing some of his best Hendrix channelling. :D Awesome!
My favourite era of Scorpions 🤘
Mine too,I really love the early stuff. Like Hellcat, and Another piece of meat.
@@HadesMiscreantThere’s an even earlier era before that. The first two albums (Lonesome Crow and Fly To The Rainbow), which were done in a more Prog style than the Hendrix-influenced hard rock of In Trance and Virgin Killer. The prog stuff is good for what it is, but it’s this era where they really started firing on all cylinders, in my opinion. I wish things had worked out better with Uli and he had stayed in the band. Who knows where things would have gone from there? I don’t necessarily hate their big commercial run that they had, beginning with the Lovedrive album, but to me they were basically a whole different band by then, even if it was only the drummer and the guitarist who were different.
Awesome! I see this video 25 minutes after release by chance! Scorpions are on the top 50 best bands of all-time!
Top 50? That's hysterical 🤣..mist people can't even think of 20 bands...you kill me with that stupid comment...I put them in top 15 for sure
@@michaelmaravigli3871 Thanks for saying it's a stupid comment! Appreciate the reply lol
@@michaelmaravigli3871Dude, talk about STUPID comments… yours takes the trophy. 😳
Wow, those were the days❤ Scorpions forever🦂💙💯🤘🤙
These guys were monsters. So freaking good!
One of the most Brilliant Rock bands, ever.
Uli has me in trance! 😵💫🎸
wunderbar !😊❤
This is brilliant thank you.
Please tell me I am not the only one who finds this both amazing and weird. Specially talking about seeing Klaus Meine without his beret and leather jacket.
I've seen him with his long hair before, but this looks so different from that iconic "Scorpions look" I've known since childhood, totally blows my mind!!! (I'm a 90's kid jejeje)
Never the less, they've always, ALWAYS being AWESOMEEE!!! And I love them with all my heart :3
Thank you so much for sharing this unique piece of history with us!!! We love you more than words can say!!!
Love from México :3
Us 70's kids remember the long haired Klaus, as well as Michael Schenker. Something tells me they've lost their hair. Still rocking though.
Thank you for the rare videos! It would seem that 1977, they already published three great songs that year In Your Park, Crying Days and Yellow Raven. But, alas, they never played them at this concert and never performed them live at all. I've always dreamed of seeing a recording of a live performance of these songs, eh.
1982 they were touring the midwest and my metal head friends and I found where they were staying. My buddy sang uli's part to dark lady in front of Klaus which caused him to break into fits of laughter.
Oh gosh 😂 how'd it go down?
Fantastic!!🤘🤘🤘
🌾🦋Absolutely great, very impressive!!
As always watch and listen with big pleasure and attention ,as always get million various emotions!!
Thank you,dear ,Scorpions,for everything !!
Lithuania adore you !!🌿
Jeez, this is great. Listening to Tokyo Tapes right now 4-4-24.
Look at Uli shredding 👏😃
What an amazing song, always loved this one
Scorpions 🤘😛🤘
Whoever knows how to play, does it live.
Long live the Scorpions...!!!

Uli Jon Roth,toca muito!! 0:42 .🤘🤘🤘
ohh yeah i'm enjoying luving seeing these live footage of thier early stuff....pure awesome
I didn't even know that uli can sing...with his magic sound guitar..truly legend..scorpions you make me banging with that 70's...
Thing is, Uli can't sing. What's more, he shouldn't sing. Possibly one of the worst vocal performers in history. Great guitarist, phenomenal, but please, don't step up to the microphone!
La mejor Banda de Rock SCORPIONS FOREVER ❤️🙏⚡💥💯
This is totally awesome!!!❤❤❤

Twas about 46 years ago i first heard this song, as part of the album.
Not seen the studio live version before.
Uli exhibits a tad of Jimi Hendrix style in this set. Cheers. 🦘
Look up the name Monika Dannemann.
@@djfitzgerald111 She was the Dark Lady ...
Bon Scott of ACDC apparently died in similar way to Jimi Hendrix ...
@@alanriley9754 You had mentioned UJR's style was similar to Hendrix and Dannemann is the known connection. I'm fairly certain they all knew each other personally.
@@djfitzgerald111 I think the album cover was a clue with the guitar on the floor, the one that Uli used on the Dark Lady live song.
The original In Trance cover featured the blonde hair woman with her breast exposed.
@djfitzgerald111 Uli and Monika fell in love with each other at some point in the 1970's or so, and they stayed together until she died.
Wow what an awesome beauty! Thank you so much! 👍😀
Love this one❤❤
MOST AMAZING MAN IN MY WORLD
Blowing the walls outta here 😡
Just awesome ❤🎉👍👌💯
The Best scorpions 👍 ♏️ 👍
It was the best time for the Scorpions when Ulrich Roth was on solo guitar
Cool I got me a taping with Uli and friends doing this. I jam to the Tokyo tapes sometimes. Helps me lose control 🎉🎉thanks
The best scorpions
Amazing 🤩🤩🤩
@rudolfschenker- Hello, fine. Thank you 💞
You're the Best!!! ❤❤❤
That's How We Do It... Let's Go!
Uli typified the sense of exploration that Scorpions originally had, and it disappeared when he left, and everything was written to a pop-friendly formula after that.
An awesome performance, from a great band. Cheers! ✌️
One of my favorite songs in the Scorpions repertoire. I really like the rhythm of the gallop, the double guitar parts and the duet of vocalists - the talking Uli Roth and the singing Klaus Meine.
Espetacular❤
amazing
Vielen herzlichen Dank 😊❤❤❤❤❤, SUPER ☺️!!!!
De mis favoritas. ❤❤❤❤❤.

Shoooww demais, parabéns pra essa rapaziada musical super sensacional, sucessos sempre.
Powerful!!!!!!
Wow, this is a nice little find. Wasn’t expecting to stumble across something this great today. This is the first time I’ve seen QUALITY footage of this lineup of the Scorps. Uli was just a monster guitarist. Damn. Those two albums - In Trance and Virgin Killer… have always been my favorites. I’ve loved those albums ever since my uncle gave me Virgin Killer as a gift way back in 1977. I was 10 years old, and I was immediately blown away by Uli’s sound and style. That hasn’t changed in almost 47 years.
I’ve gotta say, I’m not a big fan of the more well known and commercially successful albums that they made after Uli’s departure, but I don’t fault them for choosing that direction. It obviously worked out fairly well for them. Still, the ‘75-‘76 era is what I always come back to. Timeless, killer stuff… and this footage just makes it all that much better. Thanks for uploading this!
Extraordinaire, merci !!! 👍👍👍👍👍
Uli Jon fantastic guitarrista é o JIMI HENDRIX do metal...
00:35,1:15,2:29 Those are the parts where Klaus should have taken a high note(aaaaaaaaaa, aaaaaaaahhh. aaaaah), anyone who listened the original studio version would know what I am talking about. But certainly no judging here, he probably needed to save his voice for more live performances. Scorpions is a love forever 🦂🎸🤘🦂❤️🔥
Legal,tenho 10 anos e adoro scorpions
The real Scorpions!!!!
love Klaus and Francis little dance moves 😅
I didn't want to step on any toes but since you were the only one to mention Francis Buchhold he is really getting down to Dark Lady isn't he.
Proto metal!!!
That’s a great definition 👍. Few weeks ago I discovered “Rocka Rolla” song/video by Judas Priest from 1974, which I fell in love with, and kept calling it early metal, but protometal sounds just perfect 🤘
i have no idea what uli is singing but wow great guitar
The riff is very similar to Let It Roll (UFO), which itself is similar to Look at Yourself (Uriah Heep).
Yes! It does sound very similar
Great vibes
Wish they would amass all this 70's footage and remix and remaster it for the fans in a box set before we die. It's not like we had access to them in America during the 70's, until world series of rock in Cleveland late 70's. Then we got to see them blow Sammy hagar off the stage when they opened for him. Like 1980
Everything they released up to Tokyo Tapes was phenomenal. Sorry, but Uli was melting everyone's ears for years, and any guitarist who has a clue would tell you the same. Uli & Frank Marino were freaking godz
Yeah they didn’t really crack America until “The Zoo”, but by then Uli was long gone and they had already established their ‘formula’ sound with the previous album, Lovedrive. Though American, I personally was introduced to them via the Virgin Killer album when I was 10 (as weird as that may sound. There’s a funny story that goes with that), and I instantly fell in love with that record. A few years later when people I went to school with were “turning on to this ‘new’ band called Scorpions with their song ‘The Zoo’”, I had already deeply gotten into a much different version of them, but whatever. They wound up becoming one of the biggest hard rock/metal bands of the 80’s and I got to tell all my peers “Yeah but I knew them way back when” 😁
@@Shikta-poobah67Not really, cause they called Michael up and begged him to save them on Love drive, the follow up was the radio version of Scorpions, We in America 🇺🇸 was getting into them since 70's, AC DC Judas Priest were all part of our taste. Long before radio would touch them except special nite time shows. Radio ruins everything with all the wanna be's pretending to be cool as if, that's why they all went by the wayside by the 90's and got knocked out by unshowered flannel wearing mama's Boyz who couldn't even play their instruments. It's embarrassing 😳 Even Metallica started to suck ass by the Black Album. Talk about radio friendly. To this day, can't get hardly any bands that can play and write. It's all computer generated music and Rap. Which is glorified Karaoke. Just watch any live show, no band, just a human holding their crotch and jumping up and down. Then the sheep follow. It's why I never aloud my kids to have it in the house. I said, this is the house that rock built 👊
@@steveneal174I don’t remember there being a large number of Scorpions fans in America back in the 70’s. Maybe there were where you lived, or maybe it’s my age. I was just a kid back then, still in grade school, but I was gifted the Virgin Killer album by my uncle and I loved it. I just never met anyone else who knew who they were (besides my uncle) until they started getting played on the radio at the dawn of the 80’s. I’m not saying no one else knew about them. Again, I was 10 years old. Other kids my age back then were either listening to stuff like Bay City Rollers and KISS, or they hadn’t even gotten into music yet, so yeah there’s a good chance I was missing out on a whole crowd of older people who appreciated the Scorpions in those days. The thing is, I never tried to imply that their big run of success began with Lovedrive. Just ‘the sound’. Just because they had already established their formula sound with Lovedrive doesn’t mean that they had already cracked America. As I recall, that didn’t begin to happen until the following album/year.
As for the radio, I’ve never been a big radio guy, never listened much, and I’ve never really given much of my attention to what’s popular or followed trends. I just like what I like, and if that happens to be something that other people like, great. Most times it’s *NOT* something most other people like, but it’s not like I’m intentionally seeking out things that are unpopular. There’s a lot of people who do that, but that’s not where I’m coming from. I just literally don’t care about popularity, and I don’t care about what kind of music it is, or ‘genre’ or whatever. A lot of people can never seem to wrap their heads around that. They really get hung up on their little cliques and categories.
Your right, I was ten to when I received my 1st Scorpions ,summer of 73 and it changed my life along with Budgie, Lucifer's Friends 1st one & Captain Beyond ,Uriah Heep, Robin Trower. So I was the kid with the Boom Box bungee corded to my bike and Jamming my ass off. I mowed grass just to get batteries and alot of them. I'd go back in a minute if I could.
