Hey Brother. I'm sorry for leaving a comment on your videos that I've been watching on the TV in my living room, but I'm recovering from my 1st knee replacement surgery. I hijacked my oldest sons laptop to leave a comment on this latest video of yours. I have to say I was moved to tears several times after listening to the testimony of the blind woodworker who was seeking help, or ideas for improving work flow through his shop.!?! I certainly most admit, after that man's inspiring story, I truly find myself without excuse. Thank You Sir, for sharing such a story, and continuously encouraging your viewership to press-on. Do tell the Mrs. Happy Mother's Day.
I hear you sir. I fell and broke my arm up near the shoulder a while back and its still not working right. Having to put ice packs on it a lot and stretch it to keep it from locking up. So I'm not doing any wood working but, I sure do enjoy Matthew's videos. Hope and prayer you get well soon.
Therapy therapy therapy! My elderly father had both knees done, separately, of course, and they're better than ever thanks to the physical therapy. He did all they asked of him and more and it sure paid off.
Hey Matt, I was at a farmers market and found a guy the was selling wooden stuff. I recognized at least half of his inventory from your videos. The mini picnic tables for mustard and ketchup bottles with salt and pepper shakers, and the napkin dispenser table, were both priced at $35 (each).
I am the same way with wood. I got a lot of shit everywhere. I am making the condiment and paper towel tables with my scrap right now! I seem to save stuff I know I should toss!
Hey Matthew. I’m a hobby woodworker who really enjoys gifting my large family projects from the wood shop. I watch your videos to get me pumped up, work smart, and have confidence in my woodworking. Thanks again, sir.
Love your videos; they're super inspirational and encouraging! As for that bundle of 1/4" cutoffs, the most effective way I've found to figure out what to use such "scrap" for is to throw them away; the perfect project will then reveal itself shortly (that's really all it was waiting for 😅 )
Great video Series! Loving it! With those 1/4" scraps, you could probably make little "Painting Easels" to hold pictures or phones/tablets. Like an A-frame, with a hinge-like strut as a stand from the back. the horizontal part of the "A" is where the phone sits. Maybe its been done before, but it would be a use for the scraps...
I like all these interesting projects. For the last off cut design, I was thinking you could also arrange them in the shape of the state you live in, or your favorite golf course, or sports team logo etc. Thanks for the inspiration.
On the firewood "stool" you could flip it over drill down from the bottom with a forstner bit, use a oscillating tool to finish it off. Use what you got.
Just two nights ago I was sketching out (doodling, more like) how to use the small off cuts from pickets. The same type of pieces in the video. The only difference was that I wanted to use shorter pieces for the spacing but with a decorative/unique cut. This series is great. I have binged most, if not all, and look forward to new ones. Big thanks.
If you’re looking for something to use those 1/4” cutoffs on,how about using them for paper towel holders to attach to the underside of a kitchen cabinet?
For the hanging planter box, screws and glue should be used on every corner joint. Each corner joint supports the weight of all of the wood below their level plus the potted plant divided by 4. If the plant pot is sitting on 4 bottom slats, then each slat joint supports just the weight of the potted plant divided by 8. The corner joints have at least as much stress as the bottom slat joints, and probably more.
Thanks for your videos. I really get inspired by your work. I looked at the $4,000 wall art pic. I saw the shape of Texas. And since I’m from Texas… I gotta try it. Thanks again.
My wife likes hanging baskets for her plants, and I think she would really like one of those. Guess I will need to hit the scrap pile and make her a couple of them
Omgosh! I made one of the scrap planters earlier this year, never thought of selling them. I remembered my dad making something similar back in the 70's. I drilled holes about a 1/2 inch from the ends and put parachute cord through tied at the top and made a bottom tassel. So easy to do
*You have inspired me with the Log Stool. I think 2 Stools & a table would be cool. On the Table Laser Engrave a Chess Board Top. I’ll let you know how it goes.*
There should be a study of why we keep random strips of wood. I had to trim an 1/8” off a board and 2 years later I still have that strip. I’m going to use it. I don’t know when or for what yet.
Just started watching your videos. They are informative and educational. Take it from a man that worked in a wood shop for 20 years, you have a true talent. Keep up the great work 👍
bit late but im sure you still have scraps or made new. build a lantern with the scraps. a oscillating multitool is best for that log stool thing. save and effective
Hi Matthew 👋! I have a suggestion for your bundle of scrap wood. You could make a planter pot cover. ▪︎Find a planter pot (ex. Urn insert pot) ▪︎Cut pieces to the height of the pot or just above. (Cut enough to go around the outside of the pot) ▪︎Drill holes at the top and bottom through the sides of your sticks large enough to fit a piece of string or elastic cord through. ▪︎Tie them around your pot. Paint/stain if desired. I hope to see you try this! -------------------------‐‐----------------------- 🤔 💭 Have you ever tried/used wooden nails? You use them with a pneumatic tool.
I'm looking at building out a 40' school bus, a Skoolie, or modifying/remodeling a 40' Motorhome as my full time rolling home in the next year. That cleat wall built to fit the few actual walls I'll have will be great to help add more much needed storage. Add a 1/4" plywood bottom & make the rectangles upright to use for holding kitchen utensils. Or make the longer rectangles for holding miscellaneous items in the bathroom or bedroom space. I can see so many uses for the little crate boxes alone. Great idea for sure.
those little pieces of 1/4 inch non square scrap you have can be used in dollhouse projects for columns on porches, railings, etc. think also about ornament size things. like the roof on a small ornament. cut the angles and they become 3d roof tops for your otherwise flat ornaments etc. hope this helps at least inspire a spurt of ideas for the small pieces.
Those small cutoffs would work really well to make pallet-style coasters. I made several sets of small coasters like that and they were pretty popular. Always enjoy the videos, keep up the great work!
I was watching your video on the Hercules miter saw.loved it. I have the Hercules table saw and this thing is amazing. Zeroed in and cuts great. Also have the plunge router. There just good tools.
Matthew, I hope you see this. I have been subscribed for quite a while, probably a year or more. I was watching this today and saw the subscribe message come up. I clicked on your channel and saw that I was not subscribed! I had this happen on a news site I watch also. If your site is showing fewer subscribers (noooo way), you may want to have folks double check. I love all you do ❤
I’d love to see your take on a raised dog bowl stand. Nice ones can run north of $100. But there are so many designs, I’ve found very few that I really like (no farm house style, please). 👍
On the quarter inch material how about use it to make a center design in some geometric art. set up your pieces in different patterns, color them differently, glue then square them up with one flat side and use it as a center inset or medallion on top of the wall art. The different heights makes it 3D art. Like do a geometric thing, then do a cross or diamond on top.
I like to watch all of your videos like this. I'm not wanting to sell items, I have my day job that takes most of my time. I look at your suggestions as things I might be able to make for my wife, or even as gifts for other family members. There might be a lot of people like me who aren't trying to start a business but want ideas for easily making gifts. I've seen that Pentel pencil hanging from your hat in numerous videos- that is my favorite pencil for general use. I started using 0.5mm mechanical pencils long ago but the lead is somewhat fragile. I started using 0.7mm pencils because the lead doesn't break as easily, then I discovered the 0.9mm models so now that's what I prefer to use and I have at least 3 of them around my desk.
Nice thing about those small scraps you have there. You could take a few and make a bottom then use several more to make 4 sides to make pencil and pen holders. I have done this several times with and scraps under a 1/2". 3 years ago I made 20 of then in a weekend and gave then out for Christmas. And because of that I had one family member tell me that they had a friend want 4 of them and they were happy to find out I only charged 20$ for them. So never get rid of scraps. Think outside the normal and look for and find things to make out of your scraps
1/4" stock... Rustic icicles for tree ornaments with a scrawny wire hook. Mini log cabin boxes. Frame accents on wall signs. Inlays against darker wood. Glue ups for miniature cutting boards. A colonial era fort for tale war games.
U are a good teacher. I have actually started making the log stool as I call it and plan to make it unique by pyrographing it with some animals around it…👌🏿
I think that your videos are probably the best woodworking videos I’ve seen. Consistently good advice and your projects have a way of inspiring ideas for other things. I for one really appreciate your content my friend. Keep em coming. Thanks
Thank you Matthew for constantly being on the hunt for that which is interesting, sells, and can be made by someone with a few tools and moderate skills. Your vids always peak my interest even if I can't run right out and build it. But!, it sure fires me up to want to do more, more than anything else. Not gonna list the excuses because in spite of them, I still want to work in the little shop available to me. That "want" is so therapeutic I can't explain it any better, I just want to work a bit more and awhile longer; doesn't really matter if something gets in the way. Thanks for helping that "want" to see more ideas and keep that "want" beating and breathing and thinking.
As far as the wood strips, i had some half circle cutouts and I was seeing them as rhe sides of a lid for a treasure chest shaped thing with slats for a planter or something else.
Those 1/4” pieces you could glue them Chris cross and make trivets out of them. You could even cut them in different shapes after they’re glued together.
I simply love your videos. Make scrap wood into cash, make cheap wood into cash, there seems to be no end in making anything into cash. Keep up the wonderful ideas and we'll continue to make the cash. Thank you so much for your ideas and methods.
I like watching your videos and you have great information about the product you make ,please make all videos you can what you are making marketing. I like to follow your passion for your products make myself more interested and more motivated to make my own products. Thanks and GodBless you and your family.❤
I'm looking at the stool and thinking you could hog out a hole in the middle, going most of the way down, add a small drain hole in the bottom, and sell it as a planter.
Been watching your videos for years. I deeply my respect your woodworking abilities..! You project confidence to with simple down to earth approach..ps use those scraps make the game kerpluk. For adult size
i just saw an old shelf/table at the local public auction sell for 200, the only difference from yours was that it had metal rails, legs, and a center brace. So yeah even at a public auction these absolutely sell.

What is the gain from these bot posts? Nobody believes this crap.
❤❤
Sundays are breakfast, church, lunch and Matthew's videos.
lol
Use the wall of plants on the inside of your yard fence. This would give you more growing space for herbs, peppers, and cherry tomatoes.
LOVE that you are constantly encouraging us to believe in ourselves . THANK YOU Matthew Peech.
Thank you!

Have a Blessed Sunday
You too!
You can make very small trellises, 12" tall> for a small indoor planter box. Small vine plants.
Yea! I like it.
Similar answer, Orchid supports
My advice if you were making mini trellises is to make the mini planter to go with it and sell it as a set.
I am the same way with wood. I got a lot of shit everywhere. I am making the condiment and paper towel tables with my scrap right now! I seem to save stuff I know I should toss!
Nice! See, we keep the scraps for a good reason! Lol
Hey Matthew. I’m a hobby woodworker who really enjoys gifting my large family projects from the wood shop. I watch your videos to get me pumped up, work smart, and have confidence in my woodworking. Thanks again, sir.
Making that abstract art into a shape of a state would do well also 😊
Good idea!
Had the same thought!
Me too!!

Haha! Yes, that's usually how it goes.
My scrabble letter template kit arrived yesterday. Always something to do based on your videos. Thanks for ideas.
My head is spinning, just watched two of your latest videos and can't decide which to make first! So much info, thanks so much
Thank you!
😂 That's a great problem to have!
Hey, you can use those 1/4 inch strips for succulent containers. Everybody loves a nice looking container for their succulent plants.
Great video Series! Loving it!

I bought two slabs of live edge walnut two weeks ago. Im thinking of attempting to make burger shaped cutting boards for Fathers day
Sounds great!
Happy Mother's Day to Mrs. Peech good sir.
That French cleat plant box system’s about to be my attached-to-the-fence outdoor herb garden.
Love this idea! ❤

Idea 4 u. Cut out individual counties in Texas. Cool
I very much enjoy and appreciate your videos and ideas. My favorite teacher thanks
You are so welcome!
Yeah, he's pretty awesome.
My wife likes hanging baskets for her plants, and I think she would really like one of those. Guess I will need to hit the scrap pile and make her a couple of them
Your 1/4 can make plant markers/label picks and growing stakes

Thanks for always inspiring us to keep building, it always makes me get out in my shop and build something….
Thank you!
Great video, as always! Thanks for the inspiration. Time to go make something!
Have fun!
You could use those scraps to make pallets!!! Pallet coasters, trivets etc!!!!
I always enjoy watching your brain work!
I love making wood mosaic wall pieces. Great use of all the leftovers

I would like to see the log table. I have a few myself and I want to try to make some but I’m new to woodworking.
Great vid. Thanks for sharing this.
So glad I found this channel.
Log table…sawz all and chisel. Just a chisel also an option.

You could use those 1/4 inch scraps to make mini trellis to decorate flower pots ,, Just a quick thought
for your scraps make a sunburst with a small circle mirror in the middle

Hey Matt. If you happen to see this could you let me know what food safe finish you used on the first project? Thank you mate.
Thx for sharing Keep building
Those 1/4” pieces you could glue them Chris cross and make trivets out of them. You could even cut them in different shapes after they’re glued together.
Thank you for explaining the French Cleat System! ❤

Please make one!! I'd love to see that. It would look good as a plant stand too.
One thing for your 1/4 pieces would make a cool log cabin bird house. As fast as you are I believe it would be a money maker
Bunch of great ideas, thank you.
Thanks!

Those hanging baskets can be easily made from oak pallet wood stringers tablesawed to dimension.
great video, im going to make some hanging baskets this weekend from pallet wood
I'm looking at the stool and thinking you could hog out a hole in the middle, going most of the way down, add a small drain hole in the bottom, and sell it as a planter.

can you make a video about the selling process and how you ship products that ppl bought from you
As far as your bundle of 1/4” strips depending on the angle they are cut at you could make small round flower pots….
Again, Thank You for sharing great ideas!
Of course!
love it MATT you are doing an awesome job
Thanks so much!
Thank you for the ideas. I’ve been stuck and those ideas opened up an amazing amount of products. Thank you.
Thanks Mathew for these ideas, thumbs up, watching from Uganda.
Great advise and encouragement. Appreciate all you do sir!
Thank you!
As far as the log stool...does the wood used have to be completely dry, or could you use a fresher cut piece? Thanks.
awesome video. I for one would watch a video about the log table.
I think that last item would be great in the shape of the state you live in.
Oh yea!
If you are leary about plunge cutting with a chainsaw or circular saw, make an L notch in your leg tops and have the top sitting in the notch.
Matthew use them for raised letters or cross, stars
Love your videos Matthew...keep up the great work!
Maybe use the 1/4 “ scraps for “Sunrays” on a board for some wall art
Another good video Matt. Thank you.
I am learning so much from your channel! One question though - what brand of camera do you have clipped to your head?
Maybe try very old style model aircraft framing but that's more a labor of love than profit!
i just saw an old shelf/table at the local public auction sell for 200, the only difference from yours was that it had metal rails, legs, and a center brace. So yeah even at a public auction these absolutely sell.
Mathew with the thin cap you have do a Kumiko wall hanging.
Thank you again for a great video full of ideas!
Use the scrap for a teepee bird feeder.😊
