SRM has stepped up their game a bit. I had the 9301 with D2 and G10 scales. I just bought their upgraded version of that knife with micarta scales and 10CR15COMOV. I'm quite happy with it! I love a nicely done clip point. The blade looks a lot like the BM Tagged out or the Ace Jutland, but they released the original version of it way before either of those 2 knives, so it is NOT a copy of either of them. I know in the past they did a lot of design copies, but this upgraded version of the 9301 is not one of those. I only mention that because somebody is bound to make that assumption.SRM released the D2 version 4 or 5 years ago, long before Ace or BM released theirs.

I've had an SRM Rubik (I have both the larger one in VG-10 & the smaller one in D2) for about a year and find it a great all round user EDC blade. It works well, it's solid, the VG-10 appears to be dialled in and I haven't had any quality issues. Most importantly it's good value. I have no second thoughts using it on whatever I come across. All I can say is that if you want a good price knock around EDC blade - then this is easy to recommend.

The pocket clip is split because you can squeeze it and remove it without any tools to change sides. I don't have that specific knife, but have several other SRM models.
Ones I have and know are awesome are the 9201 (that I recommended as a budget alternative on your last Giant Mouse video) and the Sebenza-like models Land 911-915 (available in Steel frame lock and liner lock/G10) and Land 810(smaller 910), also the "legendary" 710(aka 7010) poor man's Sebenza. They also have some interesting fixed blades to check out. Only fixed I have from them is the cheap 20-25$ S708, I carry it on every vacation as a food prep knife and I like it very much. It is a mora-like plastic handle, simple blade, but with a full flat and big belly.
It even has the snap button on the plastic sheath, so you could clip a Mora to it for a cheap (but great) food prep/wood work combo.
810 and 710 are now even available in titanium, but I cannot get my hands on them. Most are dirt cheap, except for some of the newer models, but the 30$ SRM models are hard to beat.
I like them more than any Ganzo I've had.
They also have some dope keychain knives, the 6040 is my favorite, it has been on my car keys for the last five years. QC can be hit or miss, but none came half finished and with sharp edges all around like my (first and last) SOG Terminus XR. So their QC is certainly better than SOG's, that's something.

You seem to know their line up, do you know of a SRM crossbar lock with washer? With stainless steel if possible

    • @Nazguloid
      @Nazguloid Год назад +1

@@jufuh1503 I maybe have 7-8 of them. My fave is the sebenza lookalike series, but that is a frame/liner lock. The 9201 is a great crossbar lock knife on washers. The steel is D2 though. I don't have any of the newer models and they seem a bit expensive, but they have an upgraded 9201 with micarta and 10Cr. There is a whole series of knives like that but they are 60-70$ and there is plenty other options in that price range as well. There is also a budget version of the 9201 with FRN and 8Cr steel, it might just be one of the best bang for buck knives out there.
One that I have as well that is a great little knife is the 7063, 8Cr and alu scales, washers, sub 3in and cheap. There is a crossbar and linerlock version of that knife, so watch out when ordering. Best bet would be to go to their page and check out what they are offering on srmknives.com

Looks similar to a vosteed racoon. Check that one out. I've enjoyed carrying that. They have a button lock and axis lock. I own the axis lock version

The few SRM models I have are super solid and dependable. The 9201 has a nice profile and several great features while the SRM 1005 and 1006 models have wider flat ground blades that really slice well. The SRM 9211 is slim and sexy but having no hand/finger guard scares me. Another sleepy chunker similar to the model you're featuring in this video is the Sitivien ST133. Its crazy durable with a compound grind at the tip making it a solid workhorse. I totally respect and appreciate your insight and thank you for sharing your vast knowledge of blades and gear. I stay broke so the budget blade realm is where happily exist. Respect Every Time Good Sir 🙏

The Vosteed Racoon and I believe the Bestechman Ronan are around that same price depending where you get them. Much better though. I like the Bestechman Ronan better as one finger can manipulate the crossbar lock, but I can tell the Vosteed Racoon is quality. I can feel both of them are good knives. when pulling back on the crossbar lock I feel like the Racoon is smoother, so its kinda a take your pick / pick your poison both good knives.

I've had quite a few SRM knives over the years, honestly they've always held up really well!
But man that clip movement, thats just funny

    • @realbroggo

That's because if you squeeze it, it comes out then you can reverse it for left hand carry. As a lefty I love it - no tools (even if there is a slight trade off in a bit of wiggle). Have a great day.

Sanrenmu offered amazing value for money in the past. I have several of them as daily beaters and they are hard to beat. Now, SRM seems to be changing positioning and value proposition of the brand.

That 10cr15CoMov on the Civivi Elementum fixed blade has great edge retention to sharpening ease ratio. About the same as my Spyderco Endura. A bit better than 440c in my experience, as far as retention.

G'day Aaron, well thats a new steel on me, if its around VG-10, ok, fair enough performance wise at the price.
I wonder if its called the Rubik because the handle is so blocky .....i.e. cube-like, ... in any case .....puzzling ; )
    Cheers Duke.

If you're looking for well made inexpensive chinese knives, check out these brand names. On the lower end of steels but still well made: Free Tiger, Dispatch and Sanremu. Mid range steels: Sanremu (and their higher end brand LAND), Watchman, Brother, EF, HX Outdoors, Harnds. And the higher end: PSRK.
