O.M.G. after watching and searching for simple ways to remove white background, but instead finding tutorials about tedious pen tracing and/or uploading image for "free" white background conversion (where seems to me you are leaving your art on someone else's server) I FOUND YOUR TUTORIAL.... did I say, O.M.G. ??? As I started watching I assumed it wouldn't work, or that you misunderstood the objective, but NOPE, you got it; straight to the point, EASY PEASY and am now thoroughly confused about why other 'experts' using Illustrator or other, aren't aware of this.... AND YOUR TUTORIAL is from 2016, while we are now well into 2022. All I can say is WOW and THANK YOU!!! I am obviously subscribing and can't tell you how much I appreciate your master class.
THANKKK YOUUUUU! I watched like 10 other videos and for some reason they weren't working and were being complicated and this one did work and was concise and clear and easy to follow! You just made my day! Thank you, thank you!
the reason why "expand" shows up as gray for some of us is usually because we haven't traced the image and turned it into a high fidelity image. if the image is pixelated and low res to start with, the trace will usually make the image look more like a cartoon than the photorealistic look it originally had. thus, normal png photos are not really good to use with this technique.
THANK YOU...THANK YOU...THANK YOU!!! Took ME ALL DAY To Find THIS Technique in Video...New To ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR & PHOTOSHOP...Had Some PNG Designs That My Screen printer COULD NOT USE... and they NEEDED to have a TRANSPARENT BACKGOUND. This was a Lifesaver!!!
Thank you. I looked at other videos for this and they were a little confusing. I followed you step by step and the logo I created is now on a transparent background!!! I clicked the like button.
Absolute legend! This has been driving me insane for hours. Make background transparent in Photoshop, open in Illustrator, not transparent. Fixed now thanks to this!
Woo Hoo!! Brilliant! So Simple!! I am using CS6, this absolutely saved my bacon after hours of attempting many other things before drilling through RUclips videos to find yours which enabled me to make the background my logo transparent this worked!! NOTE: After the expand step, make sure you click away and off the image onto a transparent part of the screen to then specifically select the background and not any part of the logo to then delete the white areas. You are my hero of the day!!
OMG you have uncomplicated my life! i have been watching other tutorials and they move too quickly as I am hearing impaired so I do need the subtitles. And you make it so much simplier. Thank you techddivtive. You are awesome!
Thank you SOSOSO much! I've been searching for days (for real) because nothing was working to delete the white background on my vector. This was awesome and so are you!
Thank you for your clear and precise video. I had to recreate a logo for someone to make it a vector image, and your video saved me a huge amount of time, stress, and money. I'm very grateful and subscribed.
Thank you! New to AI and this was the first challenge I hit. Another video I watched would have taken me HOURS to accomplish what you showed me how to do in seconds!! Much appreciated. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Question: Why did that little piece of the background in between your character's arm and head turn black instead of transparant? I'm having the same issue and I don't know how to fix it.
you select the part u wanna delete and the back part and use minus front in pathfinder, or in image trace you can set it so it ignore white so you don't need to do any of this stuff
I'm trying to remove the whit from inside the letters on my image but when I do it turns the color of the font and is all filled it. I need my "o" to look like an o not a big green circle :( help?
Great video! I noticed when you deleted the blank part between the arm and the hair it turned black instead of transparent (3:07). Any way to turn it transparent instead?
OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG ive been looking for an easier method, there was no way i was going to spend an hour on using a pen tool to rid the white spaces around a logo! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
THANK YOU! While I do find it extremely annoying that this wasn't very easy to find THROUGH Adobe...I do appreciate that hopefully you helping people can help you too!
Your other easy option would be when in the live trace menu there is an advanced dropdown menu. Under that you can just click ignore white. This will live trace it as well as delete the white back ground. Just another option that is quick. But great video. Your method is great for when you have colored backgrounds. :)
What size is the white paper in the beginning? I would like to reset mine as yours. Thanks for the great tutorial! I didn't know it was possible to remove parts literally with a few clicks.
Very informative video how do I do this with an esp file? my image trace isn't showing the tools for me to select it. I'm catching my tail to get rid of the background here
Thank you so much for the detailed explanation! Finally I deleted the white background with your help 😄😄😄 .. I watched many video tutorials with no success.. Thanks again😊😊😘
