For those of you who are just subscribing check out my recent videos! They are way better. I’m aware this video is outdated and could be way better but we all live and learn. ❤️😁
I think this video has a misleading title and is a clickbait. Vectorize anything means using the Image trace + some fine tuning. This video should be titled "How to redraw an object using Illustrator".
You are wrong. He took a raster image, and manually vectorized it. The final product is now a vector icon. It can still be filled with color, and is infinitely scaleable without any loss in clarity. You are just looking for the program to do all the work for you, which would result in a very rough, potentially inaccurate tracing. Image Trace is not the only way to vectorize something. I do not think you fully understand what vector art is.
Pls Ive been looking for this for a long time and finally I found u!! You're literally a life saver. It kinda took a while to download but it still worked.
Uh... not really. I thought you were going to make a raster image into a vector, like the raster image itself is not fully vector and looks like its former raster self.
This tutorial is for beginners! It's meant to show you how you can vector real objects using the brush tool. This is just 1 of many ways of making a vector. If you were to try and just image trace this image it would look really bad.
After all these years... I never bothered to use the pencil tool to clean up a line. Very interesting, I'm definitely going to try using that trick. Thank you
I recently got myself a drawing tablet and when I try to do linework with the tablet it looks ugly , and like the begining looks smaller then the middle and the end looks smaller then the middle if you get what i mean?
Not sure why there are so many negative comments, I thought this tutorial was amazing! I also think it's pretty helpful that you show us the entire process, not just the 'easy way' that everyone seems to be talking about. Thank you for this tutorial and have a great day!
I'll explain, do you know what click bait means? The title of this video is very misleading and for those with experience, didn't take long to call him out. This is NOT vectorizing an image. Are you familiar with raster vs vector? Try bring this image in Blender, even with a svg. file, it will not work. It's wasting people's time. Thank goodness I read the comments.
Thanks for this! I may start taking graphic design courses on Udemy since I want to acquire the skills and utilize them in my current job position. This is a great video to learn some beginner things and get craftier.
love the vlog music in the background, Joakim kills it! Great vid btw man, I don't even use illustrator, but it seems like Vectorizing is not that hard. haha
Thanks for this tutorial. I was a graphic design back in the early 90's using Quark. I think Adobe Photoshop 3 was the program we never used...There were no tablets and i am so lost. I just purchased the same tablet you're using so this is even better!
Thank you for the most concise, to-the-point video I have ever seen regarding AI. I used Freehand for years and have never been able to get my Illustrator skills to where I wanted them. This video gets straight to the point...THANK YOUUUUUUU!!!
Hi! Thanks for the upload, this really helped me. I used the smooth tool to help with the not so straight lines after I used paintbrush to draw my image, however, it also formed new lines around my vector image I created with the paintbrush tool. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong or how to get rid of the double line? I'm a beginner at Illustrator. My image is a hand.
i dont know how i landed here cause i never use illustrator but ended up subbing your energy and pacing is awesome great tut im try and use illustrator more than photoshop after today
Can I ask you a quick question - I think I accidentally changed the settings somewhere cause everytime I open a new file, the picture has this RGB view in the tab - and after I vector it with the image process - the picture becomes black and white and I can’t see the original colors anymore ugh - help 😊
Hello Charley! Great Video! Could you explain me how you dragged the a duplicate of your lines over to the other artboard please? Thank you in advance!
Great video and explanation down to the point! Can you make a Tutorial using the Pen tool and doing an in-depth tutorial ad you have done here? That would be amazing, thanks !
The PEN TOOL is INFINITELY better than the brush tool. you can use points and bezier curves to ACCURATELY draw your lines. This was super sloppy and very obviously self taught as it uses highly flawed and beginner style methods. Also this isn't vectorizing the image you're just doing a poor tracing. I can REALLY vectorize an image by splitting it's channels into dot-screen maps, then selecting the screens by color (RGB (web) or CMYK (print)), expanding them to reveal their tracing lines, then using those lines as individual layers to plop in clean, crisp lines that expand without pixelation.
Constructive criticism is cool, but this comment is super douchey. If you’re going to brag about what you can do, and how you can do it better, be able to back it up. You had my attention until I clicked on your profile and saw 0 content. At least this guy is conscious enough of the world’s need for help that he takes the time to make videos like this instead of bantering others work. Post a link when you finish your video, can’t wait to see how “the pros” do it.
Thank you Charley Pangus. It was a clear and useful video . Now can you make another video to replace this vector drawing on a different project to color and give dimension?
please show in the first 10 seconds the final image! what is the result!?! what do I, as a viewer, expect to see! why am I watching this? make sense? unles this in a suspense technique based thriller film with a shocking surprise at the end...
With only a month of playing with illustrator your video was extremely helpful. Many with my level of experience would even say exciting! PLEASE ignore the people who are trying to boost their ego by thumbs downing your vid.......it was done perfectly for those of us who are newbies!!!!! Kind of sad almost 1 in 3 people can't recognize a well done tutorial for beginners, it helped me, THANKS!!!!
Tip for the viewers: In the beginning when he imports the web image of the axe, and the cursor prompts you to click to place the image, you can hold down the mouse button and drag a box to any size you want and the image will immediately resize to that box. The way he did it, by dragging and dropping from his web browser, he had to then reduce the size of the image after he clicked to place it. Again, instead of clicking, just drag a box similar to what you would to to group select with the select tool, or drawing a rectangle.
I'm really liking your videos, its on point, no unnecessary talking where some other videos are talking so long makes it boring and uninterested that you turn it off and start watching Dragonball Z episodes, already subscribed, spot on what i needed. cheers!
I tried to set de brush in pressure mode but Illustrator wouldn't allow me to. Like the option was there but it was kinda blocked, I don't know exactly how to explain it, but do you know how can I do to set it? Is it something I forgot to do? Thanks!
Hiii charley..I am just starting to use adobe apps on iOS for creating designs for a company..I want to thank you for all your videos they have thought me so much! You are a blessing! 😇
For those of you who are just subscribing check out my recent videos! They are way better. I’m aware this video is outdated and could be way better but we all live and learn. ❤️😁
Nice, I am impressed with what I am watching now, so very good to hear. :)
Are you just using mouse?
@@MusicSongCollector try xp pen drawing tablet. like Deco 01 or v2
Great video! I've used Illustrator many years, and continue to learn all I can do with it.
👹
I think this video has a misleading title and is a clickbait. Vectorize anything means using the Image trace + some fine tuning. This video should be titled "How to redraw an object using Illustrator".
exactly. this is just line-drawing or tracing an image
b0stj4n Piss poor piece of shit tutorial that a kindergarten kid can do

Kawsiphek you just said my mind. He also said using illustrator brushes. Now what does that tell you?
Back in the day, this is how we used to vectorize shit, kid.... also, “image trace” is soooooo inaccurate.
Thanks for the tutorial! It was really helpful and well done. I had trouble touching up with the pencil tool. I guess it takes practice.
Love the video! Gets straight to the point, easy to follow, and love the positive energy and your willingness to share your knowledge.
Awesome video! Liked the instructions, the music, and best of all the Charley Pangus ❤️👍
Hey Charley, nice video. Is this tablet the same as the Wacom Intuos Pro Pen and Touch Small Tablet (PTH451)

Pls Ive been looking for this for a long time and finally I found u!! You're literally a life saver. It kinda took a while to download but it still worked.
Took way too long to find a video this simple. Thanks man.
Ok, probably one of the best videos on this I've seen- nice pace, easy to follow and well explained.
Great video! I have been doing this for long but I had no idea about using the pencil tool like that! Thanks!
I've been using Illustrator for years and had no idea that the pencil tool can be used to fix corners. That's fantastic! Thank you!
Anytime 😁
Uh... not really. I thought you were going to make a raster image into a vector, like the raster image itself is not fully vector and looks like its former raster self.
New to the game and learning fast, I greatly appreciate this tutorial and thank you for being easy to follow!
You're so on point man!Thank a bunch really helped alot

Thanks for watching
After all these years... I never bothered to use the pencil tool to clean up a line. Very interesting, I'm definitely going to try using that trick.
Thank you
Anytime thanks for watching :)
I recently got myself a drawing tablet and when I try to do linework with the tablet it looks ugly , and like the begining looks smaller then the middle and the end looks smaller then the middle if you get what i mean?
TIL vectors are vector based and pixels get pixelated.
Not sure why there are so many negative comments, I thought this tutorial was amazing! I also think it's pretty helpful that you show us the entire process, not just the 'easy way' that everyone seems to be talking about. Thank you for this tutorial and have a great day!
Means a lot to me thank you friend!
I'll explain, do you know what click bait means? The title of this video is very misleading and for those with experience, didn't take long to call him out. This is NOT vectorizing an image. Thanks for this! I may start taking graphic design courses on Udemy since I want to acquire the skills and utilize them in my current job position. This is a great video to learn some beginner things and get craftier.
Can I download this on the iPhone or do I have to use it on the computer only?
love the vlog music in the background, Joakim kills it! Great vid btw man, I don't even use illustrator, but it seems like Vectorizing is not that hard. haha

You are one of my inspirations. Thanks for all your videos.. keep up the good work.

Thanks for this tutorial. I was a graphic design back in the early 90's using Quark. I think Adobe Photoshop 3 was the program we never used...There were no tablets and i am so lost. I just purchased the same tablet you're using so this is even better!
I found this helpful as I'm pretty much brand new to Illustrator and need the simple stuff explained. Thanks!
Love your catchphrase "And that's completely fine." haha. Great tutorial!
I do say that a lot not sure why. Glad you love it, maybe i'll keep it around.
If I am not using the tablet/pen it wont let me put the ''pressure''option, which is the best brush option for drawing without the tablet?
Charley Pangus i am loving your presentations, well edited, well explained and made to look do able,, keep em coming...
Thank you man! You helped me get over some difficulties in Illustrator. Now I can start making cool stuff!

Whow! Hahah, you hit A mil man, good shit yo!!
Very dope! Have you got one on how to colour and shade for example peoples faces or a object ?
There are multiple ways of doing things, and some work better than others in various situations. Thanks for showing this technique.

You should make another video going into the detail of a vector such as coloring or something! That would be awesome! This video helped a lot!
Thank you for the most concise, to-the-point video I have ever seen regarding AI. I used Freehand for years and have never been able to get my Illustrator skills to where I wanted them.
This video gets straight to the point...THANK YOUUUUUUU!!!
I'm glad you think so
Hi! Thanks for the upload, this really helped me. You're truly a good coach!!! I have already subscribed to your channel and learn Adobe tools from you!!!! Keep it up, Charley! :)
when i dragged it to a new dartboard the original design .. or what should of click so the original doesn't go to the new art board ?
I think I prefer the pen tool for cleaner lines and less touch ups.
Thank you this has been very useful. God bless you!
Can I ask you a quick question - I think I accidentally changed the settings somewhere cause everytime I open a new file, the picture has this RGB view in the tab - and after I vector it with the image process - the picture becomes black and white and I can’t see the original colors anymore ugh - help 😊

im a subscriber and a Fan now thank you very much :)
Isn't there a menu option to do this automatically? I remember some vector software was able to do that.

This is a pet peeve of mine as well!
called clickbait to promote his tablet bro.
if he did that, youd see that the end result looks like a child's drawing and you wouldnt watch his "tutorial"
hmm someone criticising others on their criticising with ignorant generalisations and then have the audacity to call them a cunt. Irony much dude?
Been watching a lot of your videos lately. Thanks for making them. I'm gonna grab your Udemy course as well for T-Shirts.
Hi, at 3:46 I tried to make it pressure but the option isn't there. I can't selected it. I can only pick fixed or random. Do you know why that is?
