    I had this same surgery in 2013. A normal PT program did not help even after the torn labrum was repaired. This is because my torn labrum caused IT band syndrome, and I've just been finally making progress after I foam roll all the knots that connect along the IT band from my hip down to my knee. I commented this bc I feel there may be a few of you out there who are having the same experience. Roll that IT band if you are.. Oh and pool therapy helps much, much more than a regular PT program for post labral surgery.
    Thanks for the insight doc it's much appreciated!

    Hello Brian,
    I need some help. I’m a breakdancer that suffered a shoulder injury back in April 2017, and I have footage of the occurence. I definitely didn’t dislocate my shoulder but i did feel/heard tears and cracks when the incident happened. I decided to just let it heal on its own but didn’t stop dancing.
    I did not do any physical therapy on it or saw a doctor about it (at the time). Fast forward about a couple months (July 2017), I did a backflip and reinjured my shoulder again. I was not expecting it to return considering i thought it was healed. Althought not as severe, i unfortunately heard/felt the same cracks on that shoulder.
    I decided to go see a doctor, and i got an xray but nothing was out of place. He suggested i get an MRI, and even got it all scheduled, but I got too lazy about it and just let it go. All the advice he gave me was to do some shoulder exercises or PT. He gave me a packet with a list of exercises to do. So i was kinda lazy about it and fast forward about,
    A year and a half, i reinjured it doing a backflip again. Its so weird because ive been doing many backflips between the time I last injured, and never got it reinjured until then. I did however notice it would almost give out whenever doing flips, but i never reinjured it to that extent until it happened again. I don’t know if it’s a certain angle I do my flip where it causes that tear. I am currently a student but unemployed so i don’t have access to a doctor to see my shoulder again.
    I’m fine now but it most certainly feels weaker. and now i have crepitus whenever i lift my shoulder in specific motions (such as laying on my back and raising my arm from my side, and all the way up above my head, or even when I make the same motion when I injured it the first time).
    I have footage of both the first and second injuries of my shoulder, and I wanted to see if you, with your knowledge as a sports doctor, could help discover what ligaments I might have torn and how I can prevent it from tearing again.
    I have full range of motion, but it does feel a bit weaker in certain moments. Maybe you could even do a video on it the same way you do with professional athletes, but this time with your fans! I love your content, and hope you give me some feedback on my issue. Thanks!

    Doc take a look an interview before the games IT was asked do he ever think about what will happen if KAT didn't landed on his hip and injured him and from that moment on he played thru the injury and he made it worse as well as the last season when he rushed back. So you are basically right, it was for some time that he made it worse but you can pinpoint exact moment when injured happened.

    Hi, Dr. Sutterer. I have this injury and it's plagued me. Do you think it's worth getting surgery for this? I have a labrum tear and FAI. I've had it since November 2019 and it took us over a year to diagnose it correctly. I've met with an ortho surgeon and go to PT. We're working to get my glutes stronger whether I get the surgery or not. My PT thinks we can make my glutes strong enough to become asymptomatic. The surgeon wants to shoot Novocaine in me for a test to see how much the surgery would help. Thanks if you happen to see this and be able to respond. Just so you or anyone that reads this knows, I do go to my providers and will trust them (since they see me in real life). I'm curious your take on it is all since all bodies and situations differ. For mine, they said the head of my femur is shaped round instead of oval like a lightbulb. They would fix the tear with arthroscopic surgery and shave off a little of the bone. They may only need to do the one hip since that one is symptomatic. I'm 37 as well and want to get back to activities which adduct my legs to my core, cycling, and more.

    ....seems Isiah Thomas career is effectively over. Cartilage that can't regenerate, groin pain, loss of mobility that all points to the end of his career.

    • @zacharypierson4932
      @zacharypierson4932 6 лет назад +1

      One, he said that if you don't correct the torn labrum soon enough, you can damage your cartilage which won't grow back. He said it seemed like the doctors caught it early enough so that arthritis, which is caused by bones rubbing on each other due to deteriorating cartilage, shouldn't be much of a problem. So it seems that he hasn't lost much if any cartilage in his hip. Groin pain will go away as he heals, and his mobility will return as he heals and strengthens his hip again. I'm not a doctor, but since they fixed the overlying cause of the pain, the symptoms should theoretically go away as long as there is no irreparable damage, which there doesn't appear to be.
