Keep cranking out John Longstreth videos! I never get tired of watching him rip!
This is the counter to everyone that hates Origin because "AlL hE dOeS iS BlAsTbEaTs" - this man is an absolute legend.
The style is set for blast beats. Leave if you dont like it. Its like playing jazz and complaining about the drum solos
Origin just isn’t that interesting...sick players but the music is just not at the top of the heap
@@tch8787 "I don't think Origin is that interesting ."
Fixed that for you
these kind of people who hate him really do exist ?
@@sprthhfk 😂😂😂
People hate this because they can't play like him. Give credit where credit is due. One of the greatest of this type of music. Love it.
John, you are in my top 3. Forever, no matter what has transpired
One of the most creative metal drummers there is. So much to hear here.
This dude is incredible, insane level of endurance and independence. Great Job as always John!
So elite!
I love how calm you are with the intensity of your performance.
I love those Classics, your drumming is phenomenal! 💎🥁
His heel-toe accuracy is insane lmao
@A smile on my face but a Demon inside yes
@A smile on my face but a Demon inside That's cos the frame rate can't keep up with the double-strokes, which is a common issue with drum videos. Further confusion is caused by the fact that when the tempo goes right up the technique becomes more of a "toe-toe" than "heel-toe", but it's still double-strokes.
@A smile on my face but a Demon inside there are plenty of tutorials all over the internet. heel-toe technique.
@@TheBaronOfBromley Also some peoples heel toe technique involves less heel than others. I for example have to do it barefoot and you can obviously see my heel touch. I guess foot placement and footwear make a huge difference and spring tension.
True! I've never heard this much accuracy coming from someone's feet, ankles and legs before. Plus, he makes it look effortless. Does he even break a sweat? I don't see it in this video. This is pure drumming accuracy from all four limbs.
D A N G. You just can't help but admire the guy : speed, power, precision and consistency, tasty use of dynamics and cymbal accents to minimize the monotony of full-on blasting. What a beast!
"dynamics"
Those triggers aren't very dynamic.
his snare rolls & cymbal hits are calculated dynamic, so yes 'dynamics'!
Exactly. He takes the unfathomable hours and years of practice time and synthesizes it into actual music, doing tasty musical ideas.
@@justmarc2015 awww, shit, here we go again
One of the greatest drummer's out there....IMO
John is the mastermind . Set the bar in extreme in death metal drumming. He can play anything .
I love seeing him Platy!! Its a real pleasure !
Really inventive and creative playing, dude just sets the fkn bar
he's doing it again !! another sick drumming ..
Besides the pure skill here, I love his tight setup. I hate playing with too much space in between toms and cymbals, this kit just looks like it is built for speed.
He is a smaller guy, too. Stocky but short
@@barad-dur9236 So, basically the opposite of Gene Hoglan?
It's built for slow playing
Awe inspiring playing and the cymbals are gorgeous in sound and appearance 🤩
This is one song that you can see in John's face has locked in his focus. One of the greatest of all time!
Great sound & great performance
While not the music I listen to, the ability is awesome, particularly the choice of cymbal sonically, those dark chinas crush!! And those tasty doubles!!! Great job!
So effortless. He is great.
Absolutely a beast and makes it look so easy. Keep it up bud, Killin it!
He should record a tutorial of his heel toe technique. It's crazy!!
ruclips.net/video/yA70AXZwEE4/видео.html
Video director, c'mon buddy!? Wtf? Show us his legs at 1:51 damn it!!! How he is dribbling on kicks, yet closing the hi-hat? You had one job!!!
his hi hat pedal is right next to the slave pedal, he just moves his foot so its hitting both pedals and playing like that, he also does it while doing heel toe in some Origin songs like Aftermath.
Nice! I'm rereading Blood Meridian
That was sick man, great job!
I showed this to my drummer.
........the doctors tell me that he will be ok.
😂🤟
Fucking A
Hahaha. I bet your drummer is still in a Coma lol
LOFL!
Love the tunes that ORIGIN CAME UP WITH!!!! LOVE IT!!!!
This isn't an Origin song
Never click so fast when it comes to this dude\m/
Damn, those cymbals look sick!
I want to have a go of those mega bell rides. They look and sound sweet.
WOW! WOW! WOW! John, THAT´S AWESOME!!!
Best cymbals ever!! 🖤
Amazing brother!
GREAT JOB, BROTHER!!!!!
Gorgeous performance. Nothing more to say.
My feet hurt just watching this and I’m laying down🙈
BEAUTIFUL
That was insane! Your left hand was just that...lol 👏
Scary precision!!
perhaps the best advertisement of ACD Unlimited Pedals
He is a machine and a real inspiration for every drummer who is active in the metal scene. Even though I always want to destroy my drumset after seeing him! Well, I hang in there...
Dear drum videographers: please finally realize the standard of 60FPS videos for high speed drummers so we can witness in much better clarity the physical feats we are listening to. Some parts are just objectively too fast for a 24fps video to properly capture. Thank you.
Is this why his feet and legs don't look like they're moving as fast as the sound of the his double bass?
@@aconsciousperspective5628 Pretty much. You can still glean that it has to do with his heel-toe technique, but the rest gets lost with how much actuation force the beater hits. There are a few rare shots in there where you might figure out that you actually see a LL RR pattern with heeltoe, heeltoe (at least, I'm seeing it, doesn't mean that this is correct since again... there is an issue with syncing as the audio is not lined up correctly in all shots. Different camera angles have different audio displacement compared to the footage).
can you see beyond 30-50 fps realy?????
@@tarakerac Of course you can! :) There are a great many tests that will prove to you how there is a visual improvement in how you perceive the images on a monitor. There are even things you can do yourself that show you how your eyes can easily discern and deal with 60fps and beyond :)
@@tarakerac yes, we don't see in frames per second. 24-30 is essentially bare minimum to kinda trick our brain that the motion is smooth and it looks good for most of the video stuff but lots of information normally visible to us is lost. You will easily see a difference between 30, 60, 120 and even 240 fps on a display with correct refresh rate.
those classic custom dark´s sounds pretty good
Meinl, please release the beast prototype Classic Custom Dark 18" Mega Bell. Maybe even a 22" perhaps.
And bring back the Soundcaster Custom Mega Bell Ride too 😂
@@acidrain812 they should.
I really dig those big bell rides
I think he's my favorite.
MACHINE JOHN 🤘🤘🤘
So powerfull playing
John legstrength back at it again 😂🔥
what an absolute machine holy shit
Dark classic custom 🤘🏻
John is a super cool guy and his skills are up there with the best!
Gotta laugh at the people who have to come in here and shit on this who don't even like this genre. Like, I dunno...maybe DON'T WATCH IT THEN?! Sheesh.
Just one of the best of the best extreme metal drummer. Ever. \m/
And is it me or the riffs from the intro and later (relatively) slow parts of the song seem really inspired by the guitar work of (the trve) Mayhem? Epic. \m/
Wow!!!! This is a long song for them!!!!!
Beast
He auctually makes drumming so much easier and I don't know why 🤣
Awesome
SICK!! :O
I swear at 2:45 he is thinking about his shopping list.
A beast
Reminds me of "Grotesque Blessings" minus the depth of the beastly beats, and immense musicality.
Thanks John you rip.
Dude is a monster. Does he have his hi hate pedal inboard of his double pedal ?
Edit: yup i see it
Love the Pete S. (The Mexican Death Metal Drumming GodFather)/Morbid Angel T-Shirt! The dude is a HUGE inspiration to the Death Metal Drumming world and to music in general as well as John!
Pete is Salvadorian ya Muppet lol
@@Kain_R_Heinlein Do ya feel better now little buddy? So by your logic a person is a muppet for not knowing every musician they likes ethnicity. I made a guess but my little buddy here came with his very important knowledge. Thank you 🙏
1:33 his face is like "oh what shall we eat tonight, a potato soup or a salad? mhmhm..."
Meinl.. PLEASE make those 18" Dark Custom mega bells available to the public!
Or better 20" and 22" variants!
@@DruGaTecH I'm all about that as well.
Reminds me of beginning lorna shore / despised icon!
That left China with the snare sounds siqqq!
Fill at 2:30 looks almost hypnotic
Prolly doin this wrong with my earbuds in, but calves will thank me later.
My brain will prolly be PISSED.
Are you serious..... Amaziiiing
MAESTRO EXTREME METAL DRUMMER!!!!!!!!!
Is the bass triggered? It sounds like it is, but there's a mic for it.
Toxicmatrix the kicks are triggered but they also use a mic to blend
what type of double bass pedal is John utilizing in this video?
I need to learn double bass double strokes so bad, work with me left foot!!!
no physical effort......pure technique......amazing performance.....
just sweat all the way :D
Fucking hell! John always kills it!
0:27 WOOOOO
His speed is so on point
Aside from all the comments, the best thing about the guy is he regularly talks about people that are better than he is. Patrice Hamelin being a good example.
Does he think he's better tho?
@@Kain_R_Heinlein not at all. Hes a humble dude.
@@JM-ll6hd no i meant does he think Patrice or others are better than him but that's always nice to hear tbh! Some of the best out of any skill or craft typically are. Like Jamie Saint Merat, absolute God. But humble as hell and abashed about praise
@@Kain_R_Heinlein there is an interview with him and later Patrice where John talks about how out of his element he was playing in gorguts. John is amazing at what he does but knows there are people on another level.
@@JM-ll6hd can you fetch me those interviews? And well I saw a video with John live with gorguts and I think he pulled it off rather well! 😎
Need those rides in a 20 inch version and I'm not talking about the extreme metal ride (even though I love that ride)
He looks like he is scared of his own capabilities.
If I would play such music I also would be scared.
He’s actually holding it back from us because he knows it could destroy us all... he truly is the hero we need
"What.... have I done?"
with great power comes great responsibility
One really has to focus to be able to warp time and space around them
Does anyone know where this song came from? I'm pretty sure I hear Colin Marston on bass (mixing aswell probably).
Band is Crator. Album is the ones who create: the ones who destroy
There's about 10 years of actual exercise between me and John. Technique be damned (tho I gotta have that too), but goddamn, this is a fucking condensed marathon.
I'd like to see Buddy Rich talk shit on (and try to play) this.
And the DVD?
Great cymbals set!! Similar with the song... black as death!! With these great double pedal is too comfortable to play like this!! Nice gear means nice results !! It was triggered too?? Great drumming dude!!
acd unlimited darwins.i think its one of the best direct drives ever..
His heel toe are very insane
is it triggered or the bass just sound solid?
Them's some strong fingers.
One day the aliens will come back for John.
Jason Newsted would go nuts about how loud the bass is.
So why did they edit out John's Pete "Commando" Sandoval t-shirt? It isn't on "Invariance Under Transformation" but is on his other 2 separate play through vids.....why?
If memory serves me correctly, I don't think we edited anything out. He may have just changed shirts. - Chris/Meinl
Can someone please explain why his feet and legs do not match the speed of the sound of his double bass work? Sounds like he's doing upwards of 250bpm but his foot work speed looks about 150bpm, max. What's the deal? I've seen this before in other videos too.
24fps video... Videographers hate high frame rates
A Conscious Perspective technique is called heel-toe, basically getting 2 strokes for the price of one. every time he his bringing one foot down, he is getting 2 notes out of it
fuckin ey, beastmode
🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘🤘
John looks like dave from revocation
2:47 = when a face says FML
"The judge smiled. Men are born for games. Nothing else. Every child knows that play is nobler than work. He knows too that the worth or merit of a game is not inherent in the game itself but rather in the value of that which is put at hazard. Games of chance require a wager to have meaning at all. Games of sport involve the skill and strength of the opponents and the humiliation of defeat and the pride of victory are in themselves sufficient stake because the inhere in the worth of the principals and define them. But trail of chance or trial of worth all games aspire to the condition of war for here that which is wagered swallows up game, player, all.
Suppose two men at cards with nothing to wager save their lives. Who has not heard such a tale? A turn of the card. The whole universe for such a player has labored clanking to this moment which will tell if he is to die at that man's hand or that man at his. What more certain validation of a man's worth could there be? This enhancement of the game to its ultimate state admits no argument concerning the notion of fate. The selection of one man over another is a preference absolute and irrevocable and it is a dull man indeed who could reckon so profound a decision without agency or significance either one. In such games as have for their stake the annihilation of the defeated the decisions are quite clear. This man holding this particular arrangement of cards in his hand is thereby removed from existence. This is the nature of war, whose stake is at once the game and the authority and the justification. Seen so, war is the truest form of divination. It is the testing of one's will and the will of another within that large will which because it binds them is therefore forced to select. War is the ultimate game because war is at last a forcing of the unity of existence. War is god."
Favourite book. 🤘
The hihat placement is interesting..
i play with mine there as well, don’t ever have to play crossing over with your strong hand
It's getting more and more common in metal genres
I mean it makes sense and looks more comfortable
The bell on that ride is a little small... 😏
