Having lived in Dallas for 42 years, I'm proud of this worldwide hit. It put Dallas on the map! Many of us found humor, rather than intrigue, because of J.R.'s character!
When I moved to North Dallas 7 years I couldn’t get enough of those twin gold buildings by the Northwest Hwy exit. I was like I can’t believe I live like 5 minutes from iconic buildings from the Dallas opening credits 😂😂😂
I love the clip of Barbara Bel Geddes with her eyes, Miss Ellie isn't a smiling "Momma"..she has to fight JR too. I also notice that Linda Grey is beautiful when she smiles.
Nobody was convinced that Donna Reed is Miss Ellie, even the actors, Larry Hagman in particular, pronounced "mama" differently, when talking to Barbara Bel Geddes and Donna Reed, it is pretty hearable.
Between her start in the opening credits (1981-82) and her end (1986-87), Susan Howard's eyes and hair seemed to go through a yearly change...if it weren't for her voice and smile, you'd almost think it wasn't Donna anymore.
I want to write that my name is Josh and i want to write that this is the year 2024 and i also want to write that i believe that Warner Bros. studios should make all 356 episodes from all 14 seasons of DALLAS available to stream on the streaming service MAX in 2024.
Was nice to see they slightly edited the opening for the 1983-84 season, the most noticeable difference, they showed the whole COWBOYS in the overhead shot. That hadn’t been seen since the 1978-79 season.
I recall seeing an opening the year Priscilla debuted with the title "Introducing: Prisicilla Beaulieu Pressley" in her three frame shot as her debut on Dallas was heavily promoted that year and have never seen it again. I don't know if that particular opening I mentioned was meant only for international audiences or not but I used to watch Dallas on Friday nights in Canada on CBC where it remained until the final episode so maybe it was only shown outside the USA.
Somehow I doubt it simply because she spent her first season in the “Also Starring” post-opening credits that overlayed the first scene. Crediting her as “Introducing” in her second year would be a bit too late for that.
@@GrandGame1440 Dallas did have variant opening credits for international airings and I seen this on the CBC which is where Dallas aired in Canada during it's entire run
The show had a good effect on Dallas, I always wear a Cowboy hat with my suits because of it, I just think it's still wrong the way they did Donna Reed though
I am On Dallas Season 7 ATM will Be On Season 8 Patrick Duffy Last Season which He Ran over By A Car driving Pam Ex Sister In Law Whoops did I Spoil It 1984-1985 Bobby Ewing dead Announced On The Radio At Cliff Barnes House
Ah yeah. The infamous dream season. We were devastated when we thought Bobby was killed. 1985 was an eventful year for various tv shows. It was also the final season for the Dukes of Hazzard.
Iconic opening but a show that was a victim of its own success. Dream season, different actress playing Miss Ellie ( a leading character) and Jocks possible return from the dead was the mess it became.

I used to love hearing this them on Friday night ❤
The beauty of Victoria principal!! John beck deserved to be in the opening credits
I really miss, all the "Great" dramas of the 1970's and 1980's. So many "Fond" memories.

One of the greatest shows ever 👍
A very inspiring theme for those of us that still believe in Capitalism, and the Free World.
Season 4 with a marching bassline line that would make Steve Harris proud.
This is a banger. Best TV theme song of all time
That city has changed so much 40 yrs.
I know. The suburbs were boom towns!
Is that for the good or bad?,,.
That synth @5:06 for season 7 1983-1984 was the start of Dallas moving into the 1980s
❤
I love this film
The 7th series and the most Knight Rider-ish guitar riff in the theme.
Thanks for the upload !!

Season 5 without Jim Davis. Such a shame
4:29 love how Season 6 did it
5:42 Season 7 did it the best
If I was an mma fighter, this is my walkout song! He ha!!
Agreed. Using in the gym for the last few weeks and right now in of all places London.
the real Miss Elly was adorable.....

Season 8 going for Miami Vice electronic drum sound with the obnoxious fills

84-85 season version 1 was the best IMO.
I like the 83-84 theme the best. It's marching band music with soul.
It’s kind of sad how Victoria Principal’s middle shot never changed. I wonder why that was.
For two very good reasons :)
That was a classic shot, it became a tradition, just like Patrick’s shot of him in front of the pool. When she left, they redid Patrick’s middle shot.
@@jeffpatten5193 what were the reasons?
@@jhenley84 he’s referring to her 2 breasts. 😊

Season 12 and 14, best variations.
THE GORDINS LOVE IT
Looks like the 1983 - 1984 theme changed from disco to a little Van Halen electric guitar action.
1:00 - Now that is one mighty fine lady i must say.

Season 7 more synth bass
I crave the slappy bass.. Season 7 intro was weak.
@@jeffpatten5193 Agreed
Donna Reed was from Lost in Space.........silly casting. BTW, in an interview Joan Collins would have loved being on Dallas. Interesting. weird
Donna Reed was not on Lost in Space. That was June Lockhart.
Those extra phrasings just RUINED this once-great fanfare.
Freeteevee. Watched the entire series run this past Spring.
